How to get rich doing a normal job

Rob Moore argues you can build wealth in any ordinary job by doing more than you're paid for. He points to a Tesco shelf-stacker who ran a multi-billion-dollar corporation and a hairdresser charging thousands per cut. The key: consistent over-delivery attracts promotions, head-hunters, and higher-earning roles.

How to get rich doing a normal job. Getting rich actually isn't that hard, or at least it's probably simple, not necessarily easy. So most people are looking for some secret, or they think getting rich is some kind of, um, hidden algorithm, when in fact there's a few basic fundamentals of getting rich, and you can actually get rich doing a normal job. So for example, there are hairdressers who earn $5,000 a cut. There's a TikTok hairdresser who flies to celebrities' houses, films it, and earns tens of thousands of dollars for each cut. Um, Lionel Messi pays his hairdresser a retainer, I think, of $15,000 or more just to cut his hair. So here I'm going to tell you a quick story on how I think anyone can get rich doing a normal job. So the last time I went away, we left the resort to go to the airport and we got picked up and this guy jumped out of this really nice sort of transporter vehicle, grabbed our bags, gave my kids a fist bump, shook my hand very politely to my wife and grabbed all of our bags, put them all in the back without throwing them, sat us down, told us, here's the Wi-Fi code, there's Wi-Fi in my car, how's the aircon temperature, do you want the radio on and off, here's some water, and drove exactly at the speed limit, checked in every now and again with us but without interrupting us, arrived at the location early, told us if we were ahead or behind schedule, got out, grabbed all of our bags, went and grabbed us a trolley from like way away, grabbed it, didn't just get our bags, loaded them all on the trolley, um, told us to have a good flight. This was smiley, energetic, and, um, he got double tip. Double tip. And I said exactly to my kids, 'Whatever job you do, do it like that. If you are cleaning toilets, clean it like that. Always do the job with passion and energy and enthusiasm, and always do more, do a better job, more than you're paid to do, and you'll get paid more.' Now, not only did that guy get double tipped from me, but he basically gave my kids a lesson that I shared with my kids. And made me feel very grateful for the work that I do, inspired me to have a little bit more passion and energy. Because if he can be happy driving people to and from an airport, I can be happy running a £20 million business. And we'll use him again. And anytime anyone needs a referral of a transport, he's going to get the job. And then with that kind of passion and energy and enthusiasm, he could end up buying other vehicles. Get hiring other people, and he could become rich driving cars to and from the airport. Absolute fact. So my question to you is, are you too busy waiting for the perfect job to do your job perfectly? Because people, they don't care what you say, they watch what you do. And how you do anything is how you do everything. So if you do the job you've got like it's the best job in the world, like it'll make you millions, even if it's just making you, you know, thousands, then when the next promotion comes up, you're in with a shout. If you don't get a promotion or a pay rise, someone will headhunt you. How you do anything is how you do everything. And whilst you might feel that people aren't seeing your effort and your energy, the universe has eyes and ears and it is watching. So there are two fundamental rules: always do more than you're paid to do and you'll get paid more. The problem right now is everyone wants to do less and get paid more. Oh, cost of living crisis. Oh, you know, job shortage. Oh, I want to do a 3-day week, but I want to get paid for doing 8 days a week. Everyone wants to do less and get paid more, you know, to preserve their mental health and have work-life balance, instead of going, you know what, I want to do more so I can get paid more. I want to be the best at what I do. Be the best in the world at cleaning, and you'll get the promotion to the next job. Do you know the, um, the head, the head of Tesco, i.e., the person who runs the entire multi-billion dollar corporation, started stacking the shelves? And most people who stack shelves do it with low energy and boredom and apathy. He stacked the shelves like he owned the business. He stacked the shelves like, one day I'm going to run this machine, you know, become probably a hundred millionaire, maybe even a billionaire, starting at the bottom. We all start at the bottom. We're all equal when we're born. So number one, do the, do the job better than anyone else and always do more than you're paid to do, no matter how the job, what the job is. Because when people see you doing a shit job well, they'll want to hire you to do a good job. And then number two, don't just always do more as well as better, and don't just do the job you've been given. Go and do other jobs. You know, if you're like gardening, don't just trim the bushes and get paid a fiver. Trim those and those and those and those and don't even ask for any more money. Do more than you're paid to do. Do other jobs in addition to the job that you've got, as long as it's not a distraction. The universe has eyes. It will always watch. I should know because I've been an entrepreneur nearly 20 years. I've got 14 companies, 340 rental units in my portfolio. I've written 19 books. Many of these are best-selling books on the subject of money and business. So I'm here to help you. Also, one of the reasons why it is 20 pence a day and not £50 or £100 a month is because it was that near that price point before lockdown. But I dropped the price to help, you know, people. Lockdown was mad, it was hard, and I wanted to do my bit to help people, so I dropped the price by 80%. I haven't put it back up yet. It's been a long time coming. As soon as I launch version 3 of the platform, I'll put it back up 5 times the price. So jump in now at the kind of post-lockdown price. And by the way, whatever you join at now, you'll never— you'll always be locked in at that lower price. I've also got some special bonuses, so Anyone who's got kids under the age of 18, give them your login, they can go free. I'm even doing a kids' homeschooling financial freedom series, probably about 16 hours. My masterclasses are usually about 16 hours, 12 modules, kind of 75 minutes. So I'm doing one for kids on better financial education and knowledge, basically homeschooling financial education. And I've done one for adults, it's 16 hours. I'm going to sell that as a £700 course once we've just tidied up the thumbnails and that. For now, it's in Rob.team waiting to be finished. The content is finished, just needs to be made to look sexier. So go and join Rob.team right now. And instead of paying £700 when I launch this Money Mastermind University out to the wider public, because by the way, £700 compared to £100,000 of debt for a university for a real degree from a real millionaire, you know, I know what I'd choose. But join rob.team right now and you can actually get that Money Mastermind University completely for free until it's finished, and then I'll take it out. So join now, gain instant access, gobble it up. Um, and like I said, there's hundreds of hours of courses, resources, and masterclasses. I'm basically building my own financial school. Often people say to me, hey Rob, you know, your content's really useful, Why don't they teach this stuff in school? Because the governments and the central banks run the school system and they don't want you to know what makes you rich, because then the system and the central banks won't be able to make as much money out of you as they'd like. So they're never going to teach you this stuff. I'm never going to change the school system, so I've created my own. You go to college, get a degree, you might be six figures in debt. You can join Rob.team for less than two cups of coffee a month, less than 20 pence a day. Remember this. So you just need to type in rob.team into any web page. So remember this: how you do anything is how you do everything. And if you want to get rich or make more money doing a normal job, do it better than anyone else, do more than you're paid to do, and do extra jobs over and above the job you've been given. And do it with— all right. And do it with passion and energy and enthusiasm and excitement and gratitude, the universe is always watching. Because people say to me, yeah, Rob, that's fine, but I've been doing that for years and my boss won't give me a pay rise, my boss won't give me a promotion, and no one values me. Well, number one, you haven't been doing it really, if you're honest. Otherwise you absolutely would have got the promotion or the pay rise, or you'd have been headhunted. But the universe is always watching, even if the people around you you think are not watching. And in the end, you'll get that great job offer. You'll get headhunted if you're not already valued. You'll get that pay rise. You'll get that offer, that opportunity, that contract, that deal. It'll come out of nowhere because the universe is always watching. And in Rob.team, I'm always watching, helping you start and scale a business and make, manage, and multiply more money. So go join right now.
