How to Invest 50k (in Turbulent Times)

In this YouTube monologue, seasoned investor Rob Moore (20 years experience, £250 M in sales, 345 rental units) outlines a defensive, percentage‑based strategy for investing between $10 K and $100 K during a period of high inflation, unemployment, soaring living costs, and mixed property market signals. He begins by describing the current macro‑economic turbulence – high inflation, tax pressure, divergent UK property markets, a seemingly over‑valued stock market, and cheap‑looking bonds – and stresses the primary rule of beating inflation and not losing money. Moore then proposes a flexible allocation framework: roughly 10 % to gold, silver, or Bitcoin (chosen by the investor); 20‑25 % to diversified equity via Vanguard LifeStrategy (or similar fund‑of‑funds); about 5 % to cash/savings for liquidity; 20 % to personal education, mindset, and networking; and the remaining ~40 % split between starting/scaling a business and creative‑finance real‑estate investments (rent‑to‑rent, joint‑ventures, OPM). He explains the rationale for each bucket, emphasizes tailoring the mix to age, risk appetite, and personal passions, and warns that smaller capital bases should prioritize education. The video concludes with a promotion for the Moneymaker Summit Live, detailing its talks on gold/silver, no‑money‑down property, AI‑driven business growth, tax‑saving strategies, and exclusive mentorship opportunities, including subsidised tickets for financially‑hard‑up attendees.

How to invest $50K in turbulent times, or maybe $10K to $100K. Now, this is not financial advice. This is financial knowledge and experience. I've been investing for 2 decades, pretty much, um, to the day. So I'm going to share with you what I would do with that money, and then you can decide how you might distribute the money. So we are in turbulent times. It kind of feels a bit unique because on the one hand, unemployment's high, inflation is high, we have a soaring cost of living crisis, taxes are as high as they've been in, what, 40 years, something like that. Some parts of the UK, the property market has absolutely crashed, like Mayfair and Chelsea. Other parts, there seems to be a lag. Weirdly, the stock market is really high, and a lot of people, especially a lot of the billionaires, have liquidated. They're holding billions in cash, they're selling billions of their stock. Warren Buffett sold a load of shares in banks. Jeff Bezos has just sold $1.5 billion of stock of Amazon. So a lot of these big investors feel like the market is really high in the stock market. The property market completely depends where you are. Bonds are really looking quite cheap at the moment. I would never think about investing in bonds usually because I know people say, well, that's the safest class. It kind of drives the economy, but I don't know, is there something about the government that I don't feel is quite safe anymore, certainly in the UK. Anyway, so there's all this going on and it's actually confusing for people. 'Cause I say the property market has crashed and people say, not in my area. And I say, well, in my area. So anyway, let's say you've got 10 grand or 50 grand or 100 grand and you want to distribute it the best. Well, rule number 1 is you have to beat inflation. So rule number 1 is you have to protect your money. So Warren Buffett says, um, the golden rule of investing is don't lose money. And the second rule is revert to rule number 1. Or something like that. So basically in turbulent times, you probably need to be a little bit more defensive than you are aggressive. So I think a solid defensive investment is, I'd probably say, let's do it as percentages, shall we? So whether you've got 10 grand or 50 grand or 100 grand, probably not if you've got 1 grand, probably not if you've got a million, the percentages might vary, but between 10 and 100, I reckon these percentage allocations are probably quite reasonable. Now look, it does depend on your age. If you're 17 or 77, your strategy is different. It does depend on whether this is your only, like, Nan's inheritance, 50 grand, or if it's kind of like a bit of play money that you could afford to lose. What do you already have experience in? What do you enjoy? I love watches, so I'm always going to invest more in watches than someone who loves art. If you love art, you're going to invest more in art. So you've got to think about your passion, your age, your risk appetite, your experience. I'll let you use that all in context because a lot of people don't tell you things like that and it's really important. But assuming you've figured all that out, here's how I, because I've been doing this for 20 years, my company's done more than a quarter of a billion in sales. I've got 345 rental units in my property portfolio and we're just buying a couple of big deals right now. 1,350 lets in my managing agency. And I've been investing my personal money for 20 years. Okay, so I'm gonna say 5 to 10%, 10% in gold, silver, and Bitcoin. And I'm going to let you choose, it's your money, but you choose how you distribute. So 10% into gold, silver, or Bitcoin. Um, the thing with silver is it's really cheap, but, um, it's heavy as shit. So, you know, 25 grand's worth of silver is, is like, um Some people couldn't deadlift that. So you've got that element with silver, but silver is cheap. Bitcoin and gold are right near all-time highs, or at all-time highs, but, um, they look like they're just going up and up and up. So gold, silver, Bitcoin— I'm going to put 10% of your allocation. You choose how you distribute. If you're more bullish on crypto, you might even do a higher percentage, but, um, I'd only be bullish in crypto if you really know what you're doing. And to me, there's Bitcoin and then there's all other cryptos. So okay, so that's 10%. Then I reckon 20%, maybe 25%, into— I like Vanguard LifeStrategy. So that's a fund of funds. It reallocates, and you can divide it between equities and bonds if you want. So I do more, much more equities, because I don't just I don't know. I don't think bonds are as safe as people say they are. Maybe they are, but I don't know. I think I like the stock market better. I think it's been proven over the long term. And, you know, if you put your money in the bank, you've got that with one company, essentially. If you put your money in the S&P 500, the FTSE 100, some emerging market, you know, basically markets, then that might be in 850 or 1,000 different companies. So that's not going anywhere. And to me now, I see almost like this, my Vanguard Life Strategy Fund, as a savings account because you can get out in 2 or 3 days. And I mean, I know it's not quite as liquid as the bank, but you can get out in 2 or 3 days. Okay, so we've got 10%, 20% to 25%. Maybe you should have 5% in savings. You've got to have some. You've got to have a month or 3 months. You know, as much as I don't think you should be leaving much money in the bank, you've probably got to leave a bit. Okay, so now we're left with about 60%. So I believe 20% should be in your own education and knowledge. You are your best asset. Invest in yourself wisely. You pay yourself the best return. So are you investing in going out to dinners or business and entrepreneurial networking events and meeting successful people? Are you investing in courses, masterclasses, masterminds, mentors? Are you gobbling up a load of books on Audible every month? You rack up the credits as well and you get a load free. You know, you're investing in money.school, are you coming to my event, Moneymaker Summit? The more you learn, the more you earn. Those who don't read have no advantage over those who can't read. So I would say about 20% in your personal development, your education, your money mindset, your money skillset. Your business will only grow at the speed that you grow. Okay, so now we have what, about 40% left? Now, I would probably put about half of that into starting or scaling a business and about half of that into real estate. Now I understand that you might think, well, that's not enough for a deposit in property. Well, it can be if you learn how to do creative finance, lease options, installment contracts. If you build out, you know, an Airbnb on a rent-to-rent agreement, So there are ways to get into real estate without needing the deposits. And the thing is, if you only buy property when you've got the deposits, it's the slowest thing in the world. And you might only buy one every 5 years. So you need to learn how to raise the deposits, do joint ventures, use other people's money. I've used other people's money for many years until I made my own profits and I put my own profits back into property. So then the remaining at 20-25%, it depends. You can tweak these percentages obviously. This is no hard and fast rule, it's just what I would do. The rest I would put into scaling or starting a business. Now if you're starting a business in information, turning content into cash flow, then the good thing with that is you could do that on £50, could do that on £500 with some marketing budget and building an app and pretty much your own platform using AI. So you might not even need to do 20 or 25% into a business. You might only need to do 5%, in which case then you can put more into real estate. Or if you've got a service-based business that needs marketing, or if you've got a product-based business that needs stock, then you might consider putting it into scaling the business that way. So let me know what you think in the comments. Now, if you've only got a few grand, then you've probably got to look at putting most of that into your education. And learning to earn. And, you know, understanding how to raise finance, do joint ventures, raise deposits, pitch for money, start a business, you know, on very low overhead, or raise finance from someone else and get a business partner to come in on the business. So if you only got a few grand, you've got to be more creative and you've got to put a bigger percentage into your education and knowledge. If you've got a lot more money, then you can put more into real estate. And buy more, buy more properties. So let me know what you think about that attribution. If you love watches and you've got a bit of money, Rolex Daytonas are always a really good win. Um, steel ones, really important, not the gold bi-metal ones, the steel ones. And if you take these rough percentages and calculations, you're going to do all right. I think you're probably going to roughly beat the general markets, or at least you're going to beat inflation at the least, which 'Cause that's rule number one, you've, you've got to beat inflation. And many of those, it's not all liquid, but there's enough liquidity to move money around if things change. And there's enough diversification so that you're not taking huge risk, but you're not too diversified that it slows your growth down. So hopefully you found this video useful. Now look, if you want to further your knowledge in investing in gold and silver and investing in real estate, especially low and no money down real estate, These are two talks we have coming up at the Moneymaker Summit Live. So I've actually pulled in probably the top no-money-down property investing expert in the UK, certainly the best trainer of it as well. And he's going to come and do two talks on how to buy property but using other people's money and doing joint ventures. And also I have my gold and silver mentor and he and his team come in and they do a section on how to invest in gold and silver. So if you wanna learn more about how and what and where to invest, I recommend you come to the Moneymaker Summit. So the link is robmoore.live, robmoore.live/mms, as in money, Maker Summit. I'll be doing 5 talks at this event. So I do a talk on how to go from 0 to 6 figures using my 5 M's framework. I do a talk on how to go from 6 to 7 figures using my 5 P's framework. So there's a lot of content to help you start and scale a business, make, manage, and multiply money, and build multiple streams of recurring income. So the link is robmoore.live/mms. You can go now. To that link. Now, um, I do subsidize about 20 people per event. I sponsor people who are struggling financially with the cost of living crisis or soaring mortgages, soaring rents. So actually, if you put your details in, if you are financially really hard up, I can basically cover the speakers, the venue. Um, you just have to get there. But the upgraded tickets are the best value because the upgraded tickets— there you've got Actually, there's a private lunch with me, which I'll pay for. We do a mastermind with you and 20 others. There's a private dinner with the 8-figure and 9-figure entrepreneurs. There's about 30 of you there. You just need to cover your dinner costs, but it's not too expensive. There's money mindset sessions 2 mornings in a row because the skill set without the mindset will leave you upset. There's also Q&A champagne reception sessions both nights with the 8-figure entrepreneurs. There's a 15-hour how to raise money online masterclass course. These are all just for a very small upgrade. Like, I think I spend more on coffee in about 12 days than the cost of these tickets. And they're the best value. And I think if you can get access to £100, that's way better than just getting the free ticket and being sat at the back, et cetera. So the link for all the information is robmoore.live/mms. We've actually only got 2 date choices, I think. I have usually a max 120 people in the room because I like it to be personal. I'm there, I'll talk to you in the breaks, I'll sign your book, we'll do photos. Very personal event, not some rah-rah big stadium type event. And if you found any of this content useful about how to invest money, then you can take it to the next level at the Moneymaker Summit. How to invest in, what to invest in, how to raise money so that you can invest, how to build multiple streams of income, leveraging AI. There's a masterclass talk on AI and leveraging that, not just to reduce costs, but also to increase growth. What other talks have we got? Ah, the big one, how to save potentially 7 figures in tax. So we do a private session, phone's on airplane mode, and I teach you about 12 tax saving strategies which are actually in the tax code. So obviously they're in the tax code, they're legal, but the tax code is 17,000 pages and it's very confusing. So I'll unconfuse that for you because what's the point in making 100 grand and then giving 60 grand of it away to the government in tax and then left with 40 but probably have to pay another 15 grand of that on sales taxes on everything you buy? What's the point? You're just working for the government. So we need to get your tax bill down as well. So all of this is at Money Maker Summit Live. Natasha has just said Money Maker Summit is a great event. She'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't been yet. Appreciate you, Natasha. The link for that is robmoore.live/mms. Go register. You'll see the ticket levels on the other side. Look forward to meeting you personally. And let me know what you think about how I would invest about $50K or $10K to $100K. 10% gold, silver, Bitcoin, depending on what you prefer, you choose. Um, about 20-25% into Vanguard LifeStrategy, put in the S&P 500, the FTSE 100, maybe some bonds. Then, um, 20% in your personal education. Your personal development, your mindset, your skill set, learning sales and marketing, getting a mentor, learning to become entrepreneurial, um, learning to become solution-focused. Then the rest split between business and real estate depending on how much money you have and whether you prefer business or real estate. Thanks for tuning in, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
