I Fu**ed Up

Rob Moore cancelled a face-to-face interview with a famous podcast guest because he kept waiting for perfect conditions instead of just booking the trip. He argues that real progress means committing first, taking the risk upfront, and acting before you're ready, not waiting until everything lines up.

I want to share with you a brutal lesson about commitment. This is a personal lesson that I got myself the hard way. Now, it's not about my sexuality or anything, it's not that personal, but I wrote a book called Start Now, Get Perfect Later, and I've helped maybe millions of start and scale up entrepreneurs to make, manage, and multiply more money. And so you'd think that, um, I have good knowledge and experience around commitment and making things happen and taking action, facing rejection, and all this stuff. And, you know, many times I have said to people things like, start now, get perfect later. Wrote a book on it. And, you know, they say Ready, fire, aim. Well, um, in the last 6 months, so basically this year, um, twice now, uh, I have agreed to interview probably one of the most famous people in the world, certainly in terms of being on the biggest podcast shows. He is one of the most viral and maybe one of the biggest names in the world. And I have a show called Disruptors. I've interviewed— well, I've done over 1,000 episodes over nearly a decade. And I think maybe I got a bit complacent. And I think that— I definitely wouldn't say cocky or arrogant because that's not me. But they're based in America. And so we backed and forth about, oh, when are we going over? Oh, we've just got to sort the dates out. Just got to check Rob's diary. Oh, we've just— we've got to get his videographer and his second videographer and his brand manager and everyone's dates aligned. And oh, we've got other important things to do. And basically we ended up setting dates and canceling on them, which was stupid. And then we did it again. Oh, we're coming out in this month. We're not sure what time. And then they suggested we do it on Zoom. And I was like, no, I want it to be face to face. And it was my team that were doing this, and we back and forth and back and forth again, uh, and in the end we had to cancel them again, uh, and then we're like, hallelujah, we're coming in August, it's definitely booked, we've got 2 or 3 other guests when we come out there, and they've blanked us. And probably 5 times now we've communicated with them and they've just blanked us, and I don't fucking blame them. Here's why. Because I should have committed and booked the trip to America and committed the dates and then got agreement with them. But I was hedging my bets, you know, trip to America, taking my staff, there's expense, away from the office, yada yada yada. What if they change the dates on us and we're out in America? And, and I completely didn't follow generally my own life rules, which is you have to commit first. If you wait to commit once someone else has committed, or the universe has committed, or the, the person, the partner has committed— if you're waiting for everyone else to make a decision before you do, you're waiting for all your ducks to be in a row— nothing will happen in your life. And I've been an entrepreneur nearly 20 years, and I've been helping millions of people start and scale their business. I mean, I've got 3 million followers just on my social media, and I like to think I'm a guy who starts now and gets perfect later and takes action. And I realized I fucked up, and I'm going to get them on, and I'm going to message them 158 times. And if not, I'm just going to turn up where they are in America where they are based with my videographer and my gear and my crew. And I'm going to beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission, which is something else I used to be good at. And you know, as you get older, you fear consequences. Maybe your, your resilience to rejection goes down. Maybe you feel like you've got a lot more to lose. Maybe you don't feel like you've got the same energy. And these things can happen. So number one, when you're young, make sure you take risks because it's much easier to fail, there's less consequences. But then as you get older, try and maintain some of that youth. Look after your body, look after your mind, continue to do hard things. After this live, I'm getting straight in the— off in the ice bath. Before this live, I went and did a workout I didn't want to do either, and I will. But I messed up and I wanted to share with you that, um, I know that that was a grave mistake, and I know that broke my own rules. So let me ask you this: are you going to learn from me? And I get— let me give you a little action. What have you been putting off today that you should be doing, that you know you should be doing? What are you hedging or waiting for, or just seeing what happens before you fully dip your toe in? Or you just want to dip your toe in, and I would say screw all that and you commit first. When you commit, the world rewards you. When you're tentative and you dip your toe in, that's what the world gives back to you. The universe is literally a mirror. If you are committed and you don't quit and you don't change dates and you go all in and you show up, yeah, you're going to get let down from time to time. Yeah, things aren't going to go your way, but in the end, you teach the world how you are. And because the universe is a mirror, it will give back to you what you give to it. And that was my lesson. I should not have messed around. One of the biggest guests on podcasts in the world. Shouldn't have done it. Even though it was through my team and his team, doesn't matter. It's representing me. I fucked up. And from now on, I commit first. If it's hard, I commit. If I have to pay expenses or do things up front or invest time, I commit, because that's the result I want back. So let me ask you this: are you going to commit to your financial freedom? Are you going to commit to starting and scaling a business, making, managing, and multiplying more money, creating multiple streams of recurring income? Are you going to commit to your financial future and your financial freedom? Because if you are, um, have you invested in yourself? And are you a member of Rob.team? Rob.team is my digital financial freedom platform to help you start and scale a business, make, manage, and multiply more money, and build multiple streams of recurring income, get your income streams up, get your earning power and amounts significantly up, and get your tax bill down. Now the good news is it costs less than 20 pence a day to join. You can cancel any time. There's no ongoing contract, so it's virtually free. So I'm committing to you, it was about 5 times as expensive before lockdown. I dropped the price by 4/5, 80-odd percent, um, when lockdown happened to support as many people when things were hard and I haven't put the price up. I will put the price up soon because obviously we're well beyond lockdown now. So are you going to commit to getting in, save yourself 80% on my normal fees? And are you going to commit to the hundreds of hours of courses, resources, and masterclasses waiting for you? And the special bonuses such as the brand new How to Make the Maximum Amount of Cash in the Next 30 Days Challenge. So I'm doing a Zoom, I've written a step-by-step resources document on how you can make 10 grand or more in the next 30 days starting from zero. You're going to get those resources, bonuses, and a Zoom session on that in rob.team if you join right now. You can see the numbers going down, which usually means people are going to join. You need to open up a new page and just type in r-o-b.t-e-a-m. I'll also, um, I will commit to you some more. Natasha has said that rob.team is whoop. Um, so I'm committing to you by, um, basically giving you money-making information virtually free. But I've got a Money Mastermind University, which is my online degree on what they're not teaching you in schools and the government and central banks don't want you to know about how money really works and about how to be personally independently wealthy. I became a millionaire age, what, 31, 4 years into starting my first business. Decamillionaire age 35, and that was 10 years ago. So I've done more than a quarter of a billion in sales, so I know how to help you make money. And so what they won't teach you in schools and what the government doesn't want you to know, I've done a 12-module, 16-week online course for this, like a mastermind university. Now, I— it needs thumbnails and a bit of editing and sexing up, and then I'll take it out of Rob.team and I'll sell it for £700-ish. You can get it now while it's there for free when you join Rob.team. I'm doing that as a special gift to you, and it actually costs me nothing if you think about it because it's already there. So go and join right now and get another special gift. I'm committing to you, will you commit to yourself? What is there to lose? Remember I always say, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. You are your greatest asset, invest in yourself wisely. You pay yourself the best return. And don't wait for the world to commit to you and don't wait for all your ducks to be in a row and don't mess up like me and get one of the biggest guests in the world that you could ever have on your show and then messed them about twice. I didn't mean to, you know, traveling to America with all my crew takes a lot of organization, but I should have committed the dates, booked the flights, and sorted that shit out later. And that is my greatest lesson, uh, for you on this live. And I've been doing this and teaching this 18 years. So, um, with every new level is a new devil, and you never stop learning. Every day is a school day. And that's why I continually add content every week to the hundreds of hours of courses, resources, and masterclasses in rob.team. To help you make, manage, and multiply more money. So just type in rob.team. I'll see you on the other side. It's all waiting for you. It's 30 seconds away from a double-click on your Apple Pay. Also, why don't you share with me in the comments your personal story about where lacking in commitment, um, penalized you and you suffered? Um, have you been putting anything off? Did you dip your toe in instead of going all in? Were you waiting for everyone else instead of sorting yourself out? Share any stories like I have that you might have experienced where not committing first cost you.
