I Hate Saying This…

Rob Moore, a business owner with £150 million in sales, argues the UK's 45% top income tax and 25% corporation tax make the Conservatives a high-tax party. He says the only way to cut your tax bill is to become self-employed or start a side-hustle, using expenses and capital allowances to pay tax after taking personal income.

I hate saying this. In fact, I cannot believe I'm saying this. I never thought I would ever say this. I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but I might vote Labour. I cannot believe I am saying this, but look, the Chancellor, the UK Chancellor Hunt, Hunt has come out and said, oh, we will reduce taxes when we can afford to. That'll be never. The Conservative Party, the current government, will never be able to afford taxes. So they can say we're going to reduce taxes, but they can't afford it. We are £3.1 trillion in debt. There's billions in interest payments on the debt. There's a massive hole in the NHS. We're now having to fund wars. You know, someone told me that World War III has already started, you know, with all this assistance to Ukraine. We've got enough problems in the UK, a lot of them, yet we're pumping all this money out to Ukraine. Now, the Conservatives are supposed to be a low-tax party. They're supposed to be a more capitalist-based party. There is no capitalism, there is no low tax, and there is no democracy. And I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I might just have to vote Labour because I think we need a change. I think the country is ruined. I think the political system is screwed. and I think we just need a complete overhaul. Now what, um, Hunt has also said, the UK Chancellor, is that, oh, we, you know, we're really going to support businesses. Well, well done for not reducing VAT, that's still 20%. Well done for not reducing but increasing corporation tax to 25%. Well done to having tax at 45% for the apparently high earners. Well done for keeping in the business rates and the pension contributions and everything else. Well done, thanks. It's just all lip service, it's spin, it's bullshit. Do you know we have the highest tax burden for 70 years? Do you know we have our lowest spending power since the Second World War? And I cannot believe I've just said it on a live, but I did just say it, I might just have to vote Labour. Now let me know what you think, but I'm reading all this spin from the UK government. We're going to support businesses. We are the party to create a great economy. No, you're the party that didn't support businesses, and you're the party that fucking ruined the economy. Now John has said Labour will double this country. Really? I just don't think it can get any worse. It wasn't Labour that ruined the country. How can the Conservatives and the Chancellor sit there and say We will create a great economy. We will support businesses. When they've absolutely ruined the economy and businesses for the last 3 years and they expect us to believe this bullshit? Honestly, imagine a party that came in and told the truth. Oh, just imagine that. Shock horror. Now look, one thing that really annoyed me is that the Chancellor said that we will reduce taxes when we can afford to. No, they won't, because they'll never be able to afford to. And in the last 3 years, they've been putting taxes up and up and up. So you are being lied to, and this is a scam. And it got me thinking, there's only one way to get your tax bill down, and it ain't the Conservative Party, and it's not even the Labour Party. There's one way to get your tax bill down. Do you know what it is? Hit me up in the comments if you know the only one way to get your tax bill down. Now look, Amazon know how to get their tax bill down. Facebook know how to get their tax bill down. Google know how to get their tax bill down. Now look, you and I can't go and donate to politicians and stick some money in their pocket and force legislation because we're not powerful enough. So we can't do it that way. Wouldn't that be nice? But we can't do it like that because, you know, life is not fair. But here's what you can do. The only one way to get your tax bill down is to be self-employed, to be an entrepreneur, to be a business owner. Now, I became a business owner 17 years ago, and I've done more than £150 million in sales. And then I've got my property portfolio on top of that that's worth a high 8-figure and makes many millions of pounds. And I'm just going to say this honestly, and some people will hate me for this, but I've managed to get my tax bill down significantly. Now I actually want to pay tax, but I want to pay a fair tax. I don't mind 25%, maybe push to 30%, I mean, and that's saying something. But I think 45% income, 25% corp, 20% VAT and all the others and the business rates and everything else is just completely unfair. So in the last 17 years I've saved millions in taxes because I'm an entrepreneur, because I'm self-employed, because I have figured out how to do it legitimately. And so I would encourage you to do the same. So here's a few steps. And number 1 is you need a side hustle at least. The thing with you is, you might, the thing is you may love your job and you might not want to quit, or you may need that salary and you might not want to quit. So what you can do is start a side hustle and then you've got a self-employed enterprise. I mean, long term it's better to run your own business from a tax perspective, because when you're employed you pay yourself last and you pay the government first. When you're self-employed, you pay yourself first and you pay the government last. Let me say that again. When you're employed, the government gets paid first and you get what's left. When you're self-employed, you get paid first and the government gets what's left. And that's how it should be. So you want to start a side hustle at the very least, or start your own business, and then you need to work out what you can offset. So I run my cars, I run my travel, I run most of my expenses, my hardware, my equipment, etc. I run it all through against my tax bill instead of having to pay 45, 50, 60% in tax and then have a little bit of money left, hopefully be able to buy a car and a phone. Um, Chris has said, I just joined, I love the sense that you talk. Because here's the thing, the government have just said, the UK government, the Conservative Party, that they will reduce taxes when they can afford to. Well, to me, that's just a big load of spin waffle BS nonsense. Why? Because they'll never be able to afford to, because there's £3.1 billion in— no, I said billion, I was doing them a favour. £3.1 trillion in national debt, billions in interest on the debt, a massive black hole in the economy, a massive black hole in the NHS, 70-year high tax burden, lowest spending power you have since the Second World War. We're almost— our taxes are almost as high as they were in the late '70s, early '80s. This country is ruined. And so you need to take responsibility. You need to start your side hustle. You need to be an entrepreneur and self-employed, even if you also want to keep your current job. You need to build multiple streams of income, and you need to learn how to get your tax bill down. So as Darren has just said in the comments, join rob.team. The best investment yourself you will make in 2023— open a new web page, Type in rob.team. Go join now. No, no guarantee. Um, yeah, well, no, there's no guarantee of success. You have to take action, but there's no ongoing contract. It will cost you less than 20p a day. You can cancel anytime. Um, one thing I can guarantee is your taxes are going to go up before they go down. Now let me ask you this: are you thinking about voting Labour? Like, can you even believe that you're thinking about voting Labour? Um, because I hate to say it, but I think I might have to if things don't get any better with the Conservatives. The Conservatives are supposed to be a low-tax party. They are now a high-tax party. They are supposed to be capitalist and supportive of businesses. Now they are socialist and penalizing of businesses. So everything that they're supposed to stand for, they now no longer do. Let me know what you think in the comments. Yeah, Chris, yes, he can't believe it either. I mean, I'm kind of minded to not vote for anyone, but I think you have to vote to speak your mind, because if everyone said I wouldn't vote, then where would we be? So thanks for tuning in. I'll see you in Rob.team. Let me know what you think about the state of the UK, the economy, the finances, the political system.
