I’m Ashamed to Say This

Rob Moore describes how shame and fear kept him broke and stuck until his father's 2005 mental-health crisis forced a reckoning. He cleared £50,000 in debt, built a multi-hundred-million-pound business, and now earns £30k per public speaking engagement. He argues public speaking is the most lucrative skill he's learned and offers to teach his system free.

I'm ashamed to say this, but I think it might help a lot of you. So in December 2005, my dad had a huge nervous breakdown in his pub in front of all of his customers. Um, the police got called. I had him out on the front lawn. He was like, having like almost like fits, and he got arrested and beaten up by the police, and he got sectioned, and he got diagnosed with bipolar. And, you know, this— we've been fighting this battle ever since then, and he's now 81 and still fighting, but definitely it's aged him big time. And I think I had a part to play in this because I was 27 years old and still living with mom and dad in the pub and earning £200 a week, but spending £300 a week, £50,000 in debt, very victim mentality, hated anyone rich or successful, felt that I was so unlucky and everything was against me. And no one wanted to help me. And, you know, this was almost 20 years ago. And I'm ashamed that I didn't step in and at least try and help my dad when the police were beating him up. But I'm also ashamed of the risks I never took in my 20s. Because I'm now closer to 50 than 40. And certain risks are harder to take now because I have 100 staff and I have children in school and my parents are aging and I want to be there for them. So yeah, I've got 3 million followers on social media and a reputation. So It's much easier to take risks earlier in your life or earlier in your career. That doesn't mean you shouldn't take them now. So I'm ashamed that I didn't do more to help my dad, you know, 20 years ago. I'm ashamed that I didn't take more risk when I was younger. I'm ashamed that I didn't face rejection and ridicule and have the courage to be disliked. Because I guess I just always feared looking stupid, people criticizing me. And the only way you can avoid looking stupid or people criticizing you is to say nothing, do nothing, and be nothing. And I was probably all of the above in my mid-20s. By the way, I had opportunities, and some people don't. So I am ashamed of these things. You know, people say, oh, I don't regret anything. It's made me who I am. You know, they say these things. I don't believe them. It's OK to regret because that creates energy and motivation to not make that same mistake next time. So I do regret being bitter, envious, a bit twisted, a bit victim when I was in my 20s, when I had lots of opportunity. I definitely regret not speaking out about things I thought were important because I was worried about the rejection. And then in my early career in business, I was worried about speaking out for fear of being canceled. And it all changed on December 15th with what happened with my dad. You know, in that next year I cleared all my 50 grand's worth of debt. I made about almost 100 grand, um, in salary and commissions. Then we set up our own business. I bought 20 properties with my business partner. Some we held, some we flipped, and things were a lot better, a lot better. And that was because I faced those things and You know, I felt like I had to when, with what happened with my dad, but a lot of people, they're just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting either for the perfect time or the big life shock. And then, and then they're 60 and then they're 70 and then it's too late. And actually in all the things, cause you know, I'm fortunate enough that I have 345 rental units now and we've done over a quarter of a billion in sales in our training business. And I broke the world record for the longest public speech. I think I've written now 19 books. We're the top property and business training company in the UK. So, you know, I've done all right since. And a lot of people have their opinions on what's the best thing that I've achieved, because they say on my social media a lot, but actually for me, it's not what you think. And I bet you can't guess and you can try. I'll give a silver coin if anyone here can tell me what I perceive to be the most successful element, then I'll give you a silver coin. Why not? And it's emotionally what I never did, but it's also financially what I never knew. I didn't know that you could make $3,000 or $10,000 or even $32,000 in an hour doing this. I didn't think I could do this because I didn't know how to do this and I wasn't born with this. And I used to look at successful people and think either they were born lucky and born with the talent or they were drug dealers or criminals. That's what I used to think was the only way to be successful because it was a projection out of my bitterness. So actually the thing that transformed everything that I probably made the most money in that's certainly the most fulfilling, it's the passion-profession merge, that I make more per hour in than pretty much anything else I've ever done and ever could do is public speaking. So I got paid £32,000 for one speech just very recently. I made £1 million in one weekend as a public speaker running an event. And I've trained now many public speakers, and we do more than 20 million a year. Most of that is from public speaking, training, content. And in the modern world now, public speaking isn't, isn't just standing on a stage and presenting a talk. It's definitely not just PowerPoint clicking. It's lives, it's TikToks, it's Shorts, it's interviews on YouTube, it's everything. And imagine if you faced those demons and put yourself out there and turned your passion into your profession and your content into cash flow. And you actually started putting your message out there to the masses and you turned your passion into a profession, into profit. Like, surely the secret to life is doing what you love and loving what you do and monetizing your message. And they're not being a work and then a life. Because, you know, I work and live blended. Um, and so that's the reason why I've chosen for the first time in a long time that this Sunday session Zoom I'm doing will be on how to make £3,000 to £10,000 in 60 to 90 minutes from a standing start with no real experience, using a 5-step system that I developed over 17 years to turn your content into your cash flow and your message into maybe millions like I have. So if you'd like to attend this Zoom, I'll sponsor and pay for it, seeing as I've done all right as a speaker. Um, and the link is robmoore.live/sunday. I wonder if you can guess what day it's on. Rob Moore.live/sunday. And, um, I won't charge you anything for this. Um, I'm going to bring in a guest expert who I actually trained, who now makes millions as a professional speaker. And she only talks on the two subjects she absolutely loves. So you don't have to pay— be this paid hired gun that talks about shit you don't enjoy. You don't have to be scripted. You can be completely natural. I don't use scripts. I don't use PowerPoint. As you can see on these lives, I'm just talking naturally about what I enjoy. So if you'd like to learn how to do this and make the maximum revenue per hour and get a full-time living on part-time hours, The link is robmoore.live/sunday. There won't be any recordings or replays, so you'll need to go and register now. And we're going to share with you the 5-step system I developed, um, to turn anybody— even as long as you can actually physically talk, um, then we can draw out of you your passion, your mission, your message, how to monetize, how to structure the talk, how to be confident, how to put yourself out there. Um, by the way, you can do this faceless on audios, podcasts, and faceless content online. So even if you're introverted, you can do this. Um, Philip's just joined. RobMoore.live/Sunday. Because people think that it was the property portfolio that, you know, made me, I guess what you could say, successful. Or they think it's the podcast Disruptors, or they think it's the you know, the large training business in the UK, it's actually public speaking because it also developed my confidence. I went to a talk yesterday, a business expo, and the speakers before stood miles away from the stage behind a lectern and here then clicked PowerPoint for an hour. And I just walked straight up to them, stood right in front of them, this close to them, and delivered a talk with no notes for an hour and then a 20-minute Q&A, and they loved it. And that's something that, you know, I had to learn. I really had to learn this, but it's a learnable skill. Like coding is a learnable skill. Public speaking is a learnable skill. So my question is this: do you want to earn more per hour than you used to per week or per month? If you do, the link is robmoore.live/sunday. My question to you is this: do you want to build up your confidence and turn your message and your mission into money? If you do, the link is robmoore.live/sunday. This works anywhere in the world, and I would argue for pretty much anyone in the world as long as you can physically talk. Although some people do content and there's no words. You know, Cabby, the guy that just looks funny— didn't do a good impression there— he doesn't even speak. Charlie Chaplin didn't even speak. So I would argue you could even do this without speaking. Um, and actually, it's the first time in a very long time I've shared this content And it's kind of the behind the scenes of what we do to, you know, our business is a multi-eight-figure-a-year business. And this is the kind of secret sauce that we don't usually share. So the link was, yeah, and I did a speech at Eton recently, loved it. And the feedback was really good. I've got my regular slot on GB News. I broke the world record for the longest public speech, been in pretty much all the media. So yeah, if you want to get some of this for you, the link is robmoore.live/sunday. It will be live, but it won't be recorded. I'll do the first sort of 20, 25 minutes, and I'm going to bring in a guest expert who actually learned from me, which I think just shows that you can do it too. Okay, and many people say, what would I speak about? And oh, I'd be really scared of that. I thought those things too. But really, the only question is, do you want to make more money per hour? Do you want to love what you do and do what you love? Do you want to inspire people and become wealthy yourself? Really, they're the only questions because everything else is learnable. Because I'm ashamed I didn't speak out when I was younger. I'm ashamed that I was filled with envy instead of actually believing in myself. I'm ashamed that I was scared to try. I'm ashamed that I was scared to fail. I'm ashamed that I hid in fear of rejection and ridicule. And so that's why I'm going to share this with you. The dates, the details, everything are on the page robmoore.live/sunday. I think you can guess the day. I'll see you there. And remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
