Interest Rates Hiked AGAIN ⛔️

Rob Moore reacts to the Bank of England's 0.75% rate hike to 3%, the biggest jump since 1989, and forecasts a decade-long depression instead of the predicted two-year recession. He traces the problem to the 1971 end of the gold standard and argues the hike is a late response to years of quantitative easing and government debt.

Interest rates have been hiked up again. They are going up dramatically. In fact, the recent hike that has just happened is the biggest since 1989. 30— what, 3 years? The biggest interest rate jump in one review. So the Bank of England have increased the interest rates to 3% now, um, up by 0.75%, biggest jump since 1989. Uh, and it gets worse because the, um, Bank of England have also forecasted a 2-year-long recession, uh, and a 2-year-long recession would be the longest recession on record. Now obviously, when you have higher interest rates, if you're a saver or an investor or a lender, high interest rates can be good for you. Certainly you get more in your savings, although still not really a lot. But if you're a lender, you like high interest rates. Um, but most people are borrowers. Most people borrow from the banks. So most people's mortgages are going to go up drastically, their loans are going to go up drastically. Um, if people have got credit cards, debt, then this is going to be bad for them unless it's on a fixed rate. Now here's the interesting thing. Um, the Bank of England are predicting a very challenging, quote, 2-year recession, quote, which would be the longest on record. Well, I think that's bollocks. Here's why I think it's bollocks. This is going to be a depression, not a recession. This is not going to last 2 years. This is going to last way longer than 2 years because these problems started in 1971 when money was turned into debt with the birth of fiat currency. And we've been printing trillions of dollars and creating money as debt and lending it to to us. The central banks create money as debt, and with the debt, it's burdened onto us. We have to pay back the trillions of government debt in the form of dramatically increased taxation, in the form of dramatically increased inflation, and now in the form of dramatically increased interest rates. This has been happening since 1971, but very slowly. But since Brexit, COVID vaccine lockdown, Russia invading Ukraine, massive inflation, massive taxation, huge quantitative easing and printing of money and debt, modern monetary, um, policy, which is basically just, um, everything is created by quantitative easing and printing of money that doesn't exist, and you could just keep doing it. Well, no, you can't. Um, you know, the soaring cost of living that we've got, you you know, the food and the energy crises. All of these things have come together. Of course it's going to be a 2-year recession. It's going to be a 10-year depression. Of course interest rates have to go up really hard because it's pretty much the main way that you combat inflation and you get inflation down. By the way, this has happened years too late. Years too late. Um, they should have been increasing it gently and gently and gently and you know, being able to see well in advance what was going to happen. After all, they are the Bank of England. They should be able— they are there to control monetary policy so that, you know, we have a good steady economy for the greater good of the people. So it's all very well blaming Liz Truss or the UK government right now, and I've been a critic of the UK government, but, you know, the Bank of England, the IMF, um, these people run monetary policy. They're supposed to have us in good working financial and economic order. So now what's going to happen is they're going to have to smash it up to control out-of-control inflation, which means your mortgages, your credit cards, your debts are going to go through the roof, which means your affordability is going to go through the floor. But your affordability is already through the floor. You already have your lowest spending power since the Second World War. You officially have the lowest spending power of money i.e., your money is worth the least relatively, since the Second World War, nearly 100 fucking years. And yet it's going to get worse and worse and worse. The country is fucked. I'm ashamed to be a Brit. And now, by the way, the UK government have said we are going to be putting taxes up and we are going to be cutting budgets. So the hospitals, the NHS, the schools, the roads, and all this stuff that we pay for through tax doesn't work, it's broken, and yet they're gonna now cut spending on it even more, so it's going to get worse. And tax, which is already as high as— I mean, UK are now right up there in the league of highest taxing nations. Tax is already high, so tax is going to go higher even though tax is already high. And spending is going to be reduced even though most of our public services are fucked. And interest rates are going to go through the roof, so everyone's mortgages and debt and credit cards are going to spiral in cost, yet your cost of living is already the lowest and the worst it's been since the Second World War. What the fuck? That's the reality. So it's a sad state of affairs. There's going to be a depression, in my, my opinion. Um, when the lockdown started, I said this will last 10 years. There's no way you can shut countries down, shut commerce down, shut trade routes down, shut supply chains down, shut businesses down, shut all commerce and industry down, shut it down, and then have to spend $500 billion— not million, $500 billion— to fund vaccines, track and trace apps, PPE equipment, COVID loans. On what planet did they not think that that was not going to fuck the country for the next 10 years? On what planet? Anyway, so we're all going to have to feel it now. And by the way, I'm just going to tell you how it is. Prepare yourself for more bad news, more bad news, more bad news, more bad news, more bad news. It's not going to be 1 year and 2 years. It's not going to be very challenging. So they said very challenging, 2-year recession. No, scrap that. Fucking nightmare, 10-year depression. Let's get real about it. Stop fucking propaganda or softening. Let's get real about it. Now, that being said, just because the state of the nation is bad doesn't mean the state of your current affairs, your economic— you know, there's the GDP, the gross domestic product, the total money in the economy, but there's your GDP. So the GDP could be reducing, there could be a recession, but your GDP could be increasing. The economy could be fucked, but your economy could be booming. And you actually have control of this. And by the way, millionaires are made in recessions more than at any other time. There are winners as well as losers. There's always an upside to every downside, and there's an opportunity in crisis. And we are coming into a huge crisis. And by the way, I haven't even mentioned soaring energy bills and all of that stuff. You know that all— the soaring cost of food. So there's actually going to be great opportunity. Um, this, this news will hit the property market. As interest rates go up, the prices of properties will start to come down, so you'll be able to get distressed and depressed assets, which means you can get a higher yield and a higher return. Inflation is still going wild. They haven't got any control of that yet. How high are they going to have to push interest rates before they actually control inflation. Of course, there'll be a big lag. The government are going to tax you more. The government are going to make it harder for you to earn more money. The government are going to control you with things like central digital currencies and all these new moves of Orwellian control. It's going to get a lot worse. It is a 0.75% rise, which is the highest in 33 years. Um, and is that the right decision? Should interest rates have gone up earlier? Of course, increasing interest rates might slow inflation down. But what about, um, all your loans, your mortgages, your credit cards? Um, your cost of living has already gone through the roof. Food, energy, everything way up. Your spending power is probably down 30% since the start of the lockdown. It's the lowest it's been since the Second World War. An increase in interest rates is probably going to make people's spending power even worse. They're going to have even less money, but it's going to push property prices down. There's going to be assets to buy cheap. Businesses are going to struggle, therefore there's going to be businesses to buy cheap. You know, you have disasters but you have masters, um, you have losers but you have winners, you have downsides but you have upsides. Um, Colleen has said it's all doom and gloom and it's going to get worse. The Bank of England are predicting 2 very challenging years of recession, which would make the longest recession in record. I think they're really underestimating that. I think we're going to be in a 5 to 10 year depression caused starting in 1971, removing the gold standard and creating fiat currency— folk, false, fake money— and then just abusing that. It's all very well printing some money into the system, quantitative easing injecting fuel into the economy. That's all very well, but it got way, way too big, way too much. And then it just became standard monetary policy just to create debt and then put us in debt, and then we have to pay it back for the rest of our lives. And that is a broken system. And you need to learn about the system, and you'll learn about the system and how to leverage it in Rob.team. So I'll see you in Rob.team. Remember, it's less than 20 pence a day.
