Lessons Learned From Billionaires

Rob Moore interviewed 21 billionaires and found four habits they share: aggressively minimizing taxes, asking relentless questions, believing they're destined for greatness, and seeing themselves as serving billions of people. He argues the tax issue is government inefficiency, not greed.

I don't know if you know this, but I've met 21 billionaires through my podcast Disruptors. And whilst I've figured out 19 things that billionaires do differently, even to millionaires and definitely to the masses, there are 3 main things I've learned from interviewing and getting to know 21 billionaires. So give me a yes in the comments if you'd like to know any of them. Also feel free to share any you think maybe. What do billionaires know that the rest of us don't? Now look, be careful not to judge them on, um, not paying tax and being greedy and evil. Um, although I would say that one thing a billionaire knows the zero-a-dozen is how to reduce your tax bill. Actually, I'm going to share 4. The first one is they know how to reduce their tax bill. And by the way, maybe you think that's unfair. Maybe you think that they shouldn't be able to have offshore companies, and maybe you think that they should be paying more tax. I actually think that billionaires should pay more tax, but I don't think it's their fault. Because I think that the government is supposed to govern. And billionaires aren't supposed to govern. Billionaires serve vast numbers of people, millions and billions sometimes. I mean, Mark Zuckerberg serves 3 billion people. Love him or loathe him, you know, he connects 3 billion people, you know, across the world. That's huge. So, what do you think about these billionaires and avoiding tax? Is it the greedy billionaire's fault, or is it the government's fault for not governing properly? And I get the paradox, because think about this: the government should govern properly, and I mean, even if they just got 5% more tax from these billionaires, that could be hundreds of billions, it could be trillions back into the economy that we'd all benefit from. But then people say to me, 'Yeah, but the billionaires control the politicians, they fund the politicians, you know, they fund their campaigns so they puppet string them.' So it's kind of a chicken and egg, billionaire versus government. Anyway, let me know what you think in the comments. The first thing that the billionaires do that no one else does as well is they do avoid lots of tax. I would argue that you would too. I've got to be honest, if I was in their position and I could have a legal way to reduce my tax bill, I would. Look, if I thought that the government would invest my tax money well, fix the roads, fix the NHS, fix the police, fix the transport system, fix the public sector. I would happily pay solid amounts of tax. Right now, I'm paying about 70% of everything I earn and everything I spend in tax. The roads are fucked. There's always roadworks. The police, the conviction rate on rape and theft is about 6%. You can't get in the NHS. So you have to pay for health twice. You pay the NHS, you can't get in, and then you have to pay private. Anyway, let me know your thoughts on this. So the other 3 things I wanted to share with you of what I've learned from billionaires, having interviewed and know 21 of them on my show Disruptors. Number 1, or number 2 now, is they're intensely curious. You know, you might assume that a billionaire would feel like they know everything and that they might impose upon you their view and tell you how the world works, you know, when you interview them and speak to them. This is not the case. Every single billionaire I've met is intensely curious, and they often end up interviewing me when I'm supposed to be interviewing them, and they often end up asking me questions when I'm supposed to be asking them. And, you know, it was a real surprise to me in the early days of meeting billionaires how intensely curious they are. And, you know, people think billionaires have got big egos. Not the 21 that I've met. I mean, they believe in themselves, yes, and, you know, they have a grand vision, yes. And they do think that they're powerful, and they do have a belief that, you know, they are meant to be, they are destined for greatness. They definitely have all these traits. However, they're not that arrogant, not the ones I've met anyway, and they don't think they know it all. I suppose, if you think about it, what got them to be a billionaire was probably intense learning and study and, you know, understanding how software or systems or their business model works better than anyone else. Understanding how human psychology and the world works probably better than anyone else. So why would they all of a sudden become arrogant and know-it-all once they become a billionaire? It doesn't make any sense. So the bonus number 1 thing I gave you that billionaires know that the rest of us don't is they know how to get their tax bill down. The second one is they are intensely curious. They ask questions, they want to know how the world works. They want to solve problems. Okay, the next thing, so this would be the third, but I've given you a bonus one, is that they believe they are destined for greatness. Like they have an inherent belief that they are supposed to make a difference on the planet. They are, you know, supposed to change the lives of millions of people. They even have this sense that the world is malleable. You know, that they can get us to Mars. Or, you know, that they can make the world a better place. They can mold the world in their hands almost. They have this grand belief about their power and their destiny. Now of course some of that are going to use that in what you might deem to be immoral or unethical ways. I'm not here to judge the ethics. I'm just here to tell you exactly what I've learned interviewing 21 of them for my show Disruptors. Right, I've got one more, but actually I just want to let you know that do you know you can access all of my Disruptors episodes, but the uncut versions. Um, the final trait, um, well, this is actually 19 habits and traits of billionaires that I've learned interviewing 21 of them and studying loads of them. I'm going to release that full, um, content in the future in rob.team, by the way. I'll probably do like a mini book on it, maybe sort of, um, 50 to 80 pages. So I'll, I'll do the 20— it's 19. Habits and traits of billionaires that are common. Um, the final one that I'll share with you here is they believed and knew that they had to serve vast numbers of people. They knew that they were meant to serve not just their family, not just their community, not just their county, not just their country, not just their continent, but in fact the globe. And even, you know, if you think about Elon Musk and people who want to get us off this planet, they, they even have almost a an intergalactic, if you like, vision beyond even our own world, our own globe. So if you're only helping a few people locally, or if you're only thinking about getting rich to make some money for you and your family, you're not thinking big enough, and you're never going to go from zero heir to millionaire to billionaire. Now, by the way, you might not want to be a billionaire. There's lots of downsides of being a billionaire. I've learned a lot of those. But at least think bigger than you currently are. If you're just thinking about your family, try and think about your community and how you can serve them. If you're thinking about your community, how can you serve your county or your country? And then what happens is the more people you serve, the more money you'll make because the more customers you'll have, because the more useful you'll be to society, because the more reach that you can turn into revenue, the more scale you can turn into your salary. So give me a yes in the comments if this kind of content is useful. Let me know if you want me to do more of this kind of content. If you've got any suggestions on the kind of content you'd like me to share, the subjects you'd like me to cover, please also put your suggestion in the comments. So, 4, because you got a bonus, things that I learned from 21 billionaires. 1, they're really good at getting tax down. They know how, they know the specialists. 2, they believed they were destined for greatness, maybe beyond the scale of other humans. 3, they believed that the world was malleable and that they could influence the masses. And, you know, that they were meant for greatness. 4, they knew they had to, to serve vast numbers of people, you know, maybe millions, maybe even billions. And they're intensely curious. They want to know how the world works. They want to know how people work. They want to know how their industry works. They want to know how tech and software works. They want to solve meaningful problems. And to do that, you have to be intensely curious. You can't just go, I don't want any problems, oh, that's not fair. You have to be intensely curious in order to do this. So, um, Dorinda said, can you ask them how dare they want to kill 6 billion people? Um, I don't know any billionaire that wants to kill 6 billion people, but let me know in the comments, um, what you want to share with that. By the way, if you want to share any, um, contrarian or or you want to disagree with me, or you want to fire up a discussion, let me know in the comments. All right, so make sure you join rob.team to start and scale your business, make, manage, and multiply more money, build multiple streams of recurring income on my digital financial freedom platform, which has hundreds of hours of courses, resources, and masterclasses on these subjects, instantly accessible anywhere in the world, and no risk to you because it costs less than 20 pence a day to join. You can cancel anytime. There's no ongoing contract. Um, you know, stand on the shoulders of giants, leverage the traits of the greats. The best way to get rich is to find someone who's got rich and learn from them. It's the single best way, it's the fastest way. Um, and, and, you know, I've been a millionaire now since the age of 31, deca-millionaire since the age of 35, stopped counting after that. And I've got many multi-millionaire mentors. I just interviewed a multi-millionaire mentor yesterday that recording goes up in rob.team. Any sessions of mine you miss, the recordings go up on rob.team. Any Disruptors Uncut episodes that we couldn't put on YouTube, or the money sections of these episodes of Disruptors, all go in rob.team.
