Netflix tells staff to leave 😳

Netflix told staff to leave if they disagree with content. The speaker defends the move as pushback against cancel culture, citing the company's 70% stock decline and subscriber losses. He argues the policy protects artistic expression and warns employees to add value or risk being fired in a coming recession.

So Netflix are pushing back on cancel culture, and if staff are threatening to walk out on content that the staff don't like, Netflix are telling them to leave. I personally think this is a really good thing. Anything that pushes back on entitled woke cancel culture, I personally think is a really good thing. I'd love your thoughts. I'm going to tell you what, um, has happened with Netflix, then I'd love your thoughts. So, um, Netflix have had a difficult time of it recently. So they're roughly, um, I think that they've had their first drop in subscribers in 10 years, I believe. Their stock price is down 70%, and they've come under fire for controversial content. So the big piece that was controversial was Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle did some comedy on transgender, and there was a big walkout from Netflix campaigning against this content. Uh, and, um, Netflix actually fired one of their employees for a leak around this. And what started to happen is there's been a bit of a power shift where basically if anyone is employed and they don't agree with anything then they have a bit more power now, and I personally think it's gone too far the other way. So if you work in a restaurant and you don't like burgers, you don't get to cancel the restaurant or stage a walkout from everyone because you don't like burgers. Now, Netflix are a diverse content platform, so what gives any person that works within Netflix to stage a walkout and to threaten and to leverage and to cancel, or to threaten to cancel, because they don't agree with some content. Now, if you think about it, comedians are always pushing the line. It must be pretty bloody hard being a comedian now because you can't joke about anything, otherwise you'll just get canceled. J.K. Rowling got canceled. Donald Trump got canceled. They tried to cancel Joe Rogan. You breathe, you're cancelled. You think, you're cancelled. You dream, you're cancelled. It's ridiculous. And I just think this has gone too far, personally, with Netflix. So I say, "A-frickin'-men" to Netflix and what they've just done. So Netflix have said, "If you don't like some of the content that we provide here at Netflix, either work on other content or leave." And I'm so glad that a company like Netflix has stood up and said that, because the problem is companies have to sort of do the PR spin. Oh yeah, we love work from home, we love flexible hours, we embrace it, when in fact they don't freaking love it. Work from home usually means do fuck all, and flexible working hours usually means do fuck all. People have bought dogs and doing dog walking in lockdown instead of working. People are setting up their side hustle at home instead of working. Why should the employer pay for that? Why? And look, I think employees should have rights. They— the employment law after 2 years is really in favor of the employee, and without the employee, there is no employer. But if you work in a restaurant, you don't get to stage a walkout and tell everyone else to walk out if you don't like burgers. You just serve the burgers. So what if you don't like the fucking burgers? You serve the burgers because it's on the menu. So, so what if you don't like what Dave Chappelle is, you know, joking about? Work on other content or leave. And I'm so glad that Netflix have stepped out and said, look, you know, we're a diverse content platform. In fact, I'll tell you what they said. They said that they are a diverse content platform, um, and they want to support artistic expression, diversity, and voice. And a comedian has to be able to be funny. And of course there are these certain areas that are good for comedy, and I'm sure gender is one of them, like race has always been one of them. And now they're getting cancelled for saying anything, and it's absolutely ridiculous. It's gone too far. This weak, entitled, woke culture has gained too much power. Oh, I only want to work an hour a day and I've got stress and 'And, you know, I need to have sign-off for 6 months for stress because I'm working 1 hour a day from home, walking the dog, setting up my side hustle.' Come on, wake up! Here's the thing that people don't understand: we're not gonna work from home our way out of this lockdown, COVID, Brexit, wars. You can't work from your home your way out of that. You can't entitled your way out of that. You can't complain your way out of that. You have to work your way out of that. Cost of living is soaring. Inflation is going to bust 10%. Your actual cost of living is probably 20% or more than it was pre-lockdown. You think you can work from home your way out of that? You think you can walk your dog your way out of that? You think you can tell your employer that you're staging a walkout because you don't like a comedian? You— I don't like the burgers you're serving, I'm going to stage a walkout. No! The door's open. So Netflix has said, if you don't like our content, then you can work on other content or you, you can leave. And I say, good on you, Netflix. There were so many companies that have been absolutely smashed to bits. P&O Ferries got absolutely brutalized by the media. The government threw them under the bus because they were trying to keep their business going and saving costs. And I don't think they that it's fair. So anyway, Netflix has been struggling. Let me tell you what's been going on. Their stock price is down 70%. They had their first drop in subscribers in 10 years, um, and they had a big walkout from Dave Chappelle's latest comedy, um, Netflix, um, special. Netflix fired an employee for a leakage. They say that they support artistic expression, diversity, and voice, Which, they are a diverse platform. Don't shoot Netflix for having diverse content when they're a diverse platform. And then they updated their content memo and said, "Look, we're diverse, we're for artistic expression, so go and work on some other content. And if you don't like our content, then leave." A-fucking-men. All you woke, entitled, lazy people who want everything for nothing, get to work. And here's the thing, I'm seeing a lot of people taking the piss right now. I'm seeing people getting away with working from home, getting away with doing less hours, getting away with gaming the system, getting away with gaming the benefit system, getting away with gaming their employer. And right now you'll get away with it for 6 months or 12 months, you'll get away with it because it's an employee's market. But as soon as it shifts and there isn't a big competition for good talent and there isn't, you know, increasing wages— because I know wages aren't going up in line with living costs, but wages are going up and it is hard to find good talent. So right now, as an employer of over 100 people, I have less people to employ, and they, you know, less of a competition pool of employees to employ, and the salaries are more, and people are getting paid more to do less. I'm seeing this because this is the reaction of pandemics and lockdowns and, you know, Brexit maybe, and all these other things. But here's what's going to happen. In 6 to 12 to 18 to 24 months, these, these people are going to get found out for taking the piss and not doing much work and sponging the employer and sponging the system. And then they're all going to get fired. They're all going to get fired when the market turns. So here is your polite warning: if you're thinking it's easy, you've got away with it, work from home, you schemed furlough, you did fuck all in furlough and you got paid for it, and you think that your employer should do this, that, and the other for you, and that Netflix should not be allowed to create content that you don't like. Here's a message: wake up, get real, work your way out of it, stay in your lane, otherwise your job's gone in 2 years. Fact. This is what I'm seeing. So, um, who is any employee of Netflix— who are you to try and walk out with and put pressure on Netflix to get rid of Dave Chappelle? Who are you? And why, why is it that a comedian can't talk about anything anymore? All the things where a comedian could create the best comedy, they're going to get cancelled if they make jokes about it. So imagine being a comedian. By the way, comedians' jobs got absolutely ruined in the lockdown. No comedians could get gigs. And now they can't joke about anything, forget— otherwise they get cancelled. What is going on in the world? Anyway, hit the share button. I've got to get out of here. I think my client is here. I've got to go and do a mentoring session. Hit the share button. Let's push back against woke, entitled, weak, sponging the system, sponging the employer type person. Now look, a lot of people have become a bit more scared, have become a bit more lazy, or their mindset's been affected, or their mental health has been affected. I separate that kind of person— the person who is really struggling, who things are really hard, who are trying. I say to you, keep going. Try and offer extra value. Try and go a bit above and beyond. But those of you that know you've had it easy the last 2 years, this is actually a polite warning to you. Things will change in a year or two and you'll have no freaking job. You think you're getting away with it now. I think our culture is becoming like this. I don't like it. You know, in times of prosperity, let's take a bit of time off. Let's work from home a bit. You know, let's really focus on our mental health at work. And let's have work-life balance. For sure, I'm all up for that, but we've just had Brexit, COVID lockdowns. We're coming into possibly the biggest recession that maybe there's ever been. Pound for pound, your spending power is the lowest it's been since the Second World War. Inflation is going to be double digits. Every— everything that you're buying is soaring. You've got to hustle your way out of this, work your way out of this. You can't like threaten everyone else and tell everyone else to be cancelled your way out of this. You have been warned. Hit the share button. I say amen to Netflix. Good on you for standing up for yourself and your content and what you believe in. And thanks for tuning in to my videos and my little rants. Hit the share button. If you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Netflix have told their staff if they don't like their content, they can leave, and I'm so glad they did. Too many big corporations are worried about the PR issues, so they're not speaking up on entitled culture, on woke society, and on people not wanting to do any work. And that has to change, because we're not going to work from home and, you know, walk the dog from home our way out of possibly the biggest recession and cost of living crisis we've ever seen. We have to get together, we have to hustle, we have to push against the government, we have to force them to get their taxes down, we have to do overtime, we have to earn extra money, we have to maybe, you know, create extra income, we have to earn more commissions, we have to go to our employer and say, how can I help you, boss? How can I add value to the company so the company can survive through these difficult times? All the people who sponge the system, they have to stop sponging the system. They're my thoughts. Thanks for tuning in, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Hit the share button. I'll see you in the next video.
