Never Give Money to These 3 People ⛔️

Rob Moore argues against giving cash to homeless people, ungrateful people, your own kids, and friends or family. He says cash fuels addiction and bad habits; teach work ethic and financial literacy instead. Treat loans to loved ones like business deals with interest and collateral.

Never ever give money to these 3 people, ever. You have been warned. The first one usually creates a fair bit of hate, but I think this is really important. Don't give money to homeless people. Now hear me out. By all means, buy food for homeless people, help homeless people with shelter. But unfortunately, homeless people clearly haven't yet learned the skills of managing their money and paying their bills and their overheads, otherwise they would have a home. Now, there may be many things going on with a homeless person which isn't their fault, and it was how they were raised. This is not judgment. But the problem is, if you give money to people who don't know how to manage money, unfortunately you're going to end up fueling their addictions and probably making their situation worse, not better. I'm up for a discussion on that in the comments if you want to say anything. There's a few people here saying they always buy them food and they don't give them money. I used to give homeless people locally money, quite a lot of money, and I've stopped doing it because I don't think it helps them. I'd rather give them my book money, or I'd rather buy them some food, or buy them, you know, blankets, or try and help them get back on their feet a little bit. So in my humble opinion, do not give homeless people money. Number 2— in fact, I'm going to do a bonus one. I'm going to do 4 types, so stay with me. Number 2, don't give ungrateful people money. So there's a lot of people in the world that are not grateful, and ungrateful people aren't going to help you when you need help. Now, there's a lot of people out there that give their money to, I don't know, people to manage their money, or they give them money to help people, and you know, they're hoping to at least get some gratitude or something in return, and they end up getting nothing. Grateful people won't give you anything back. They might not even give you the money back. So don't give money to ungrateful people. Okay, the next one, and this also winds a few people up, but I'm just going to say it because I'm doing the video: never give your money to your kids. Do not give your kids money. You are giving them a curse. You know, massive inheritances can actually really be a big curse. Why? Because they don't know how to manage the money. Money tends to exaggerate your traits. So if you've got a lot of problems and you get a lot of money, you're just going to get a lot more problems. If you're an addict, or, you know, you're— you just spend money really quickly and easily, and you're addicted to experiences, then that's what you'll do with your money, and it will just exaggerate your traits. If you're a philanthropist and you're a giver, or you're an entrepreneur and you're an investor and you get money, you'll invest it. So The best thing you can do is teach your kids how to invest, teach your kids how to manage money, teach your kids how to earn money. Don't give them pocket money, give them jobs and then pay them for work. That's how the world works. Does the work give you pocket money? All right, sorry, the world— some people are going to say, yeah, benefits. Okay, look, some people really— the benefit system should be for people who are in real need of help because they can't help themselves. And yeah, there's some people probably gaming the benefits system. Let's assume that there's some people who can't help themselves because of physical or mental difficulties. Let's assume that only those people get benefits. Other than those people— and you know, we want to help people that need help— other than those people, no one else gets pocket money. You all have to earn it. You have to create value, products, services, exchange your time, do good work. So when you give money to your kids, you are robbing them of the ability to earn, to create value, to understand work and ethic and how the world really works. I'm not saying I'm the perfect dad, um, and definitely my wife likes to give my kids a lot of things because she didn't get them, but I don't give my kids money. I make them earn it, or there's got to be a competition, or there's got to be some kind of exchange. So the third one is don't give your kids any money. Give them ethic, work, drive, reward. Um, Christian's even doing a little summary here. Number 1, don't give money to the homeless. Number 2, don't give money to ungrateful people. And number 3, don't give money to your kids. Let me know what you think in the comments. I'm going to give you a bonus one: don't give your money to friends and family. Uh, and by the way, unless— if you're just a generous person, then I want to be generous and give money to my friends because I'm being generous, fine. But if you give that money and expect to get any of that back, you could have just ruined that relationship. So, um, definitely don't lend to friends or family unless you see it as a business transaction and you treat it like one and you actually have, you know, physical collateral and a charge. But then if you've got to implement a charge on a friend or a family member, that is going to be pretty freaking horrible. So I probably wouldn't even bother giving or even lending money to friends or family. Unless you're prepared for the consequences. So many people are, um, giving money because they think they're being generous, but actually they're not helping themselves and they're not helping others. Now, um, Crystal has said here, I gave my daughter money as a deposit for her first property, and I don't think that was a waste at all or a bad move. Sorry, you don't have to be sorry. I like the discussions and debates. I think you should have loaned her the money She puts the deposit into the house and then she has to pay you back in installments. And maybe then that would teach her to rent the room out or to, you know, to do a bit of multi-let or Airbnb. I think you're giving her more of a gift if you are giving her money but then some way of managing that money and some way of paying that money back and turning that into something that's transactional or creates some kind of work. So nothing wrong with putting a deposit down to get your son or daughter a house, but make them pay you back per month like a mortgage. And then they've got to learn to go and rent out the rooms, and they've got to learn to be commercial and learn to earn. That's my thoughts, and that's why I am the UK's best-selling author on the subject of money, on my book called Money, because I've been researching this stuff for 16 years.
