NHS Demand the Return of Masks

A YouTuber responds to the NHS Confederation's call for mask mandates and indoor-mixing limits during a COVID surge, arguing current cases are mild and restrictions would harm small businesses and mental health more than they'd help. The speaker urges a "live with COVID" approach instead.

So the NHS have just demanded the government, uh, have a return to masks. NHS chiefs— well, the NHS Confederation have called for the government to return to masks and limit indoor mixing. I would love your thoughts on this. The NHS Confederation have gone on to accuse the government of abandoning interest in COVID and warning of a brutal Easter as infections hit record levels. Now, I suppose I understand why the NHS would say this, because they're facing and dealing with the rising COVID cases that they see coming into the hospitals, obviously the pressure on the ambulances, etc. But I think it's fair to say from all the research I've done that, um, people don't seem to be having life-threatening experiences with COVID Um, and so I do worry if the NHS push and put pressure on the government to get us back to masks, to stop us mixing indoors, what could the impacts of business and the economy— will people even accept it anymore? Would anyone wear a mask anymore? Let me know what you think. Would you even wear a mask anymore? Would you accept another lockdown or not mixing indoors, because really I'm not sure the public want it. So the NHS have demanded the government return to masks. The NHS Confederation believes there should be a limit on indoor mixing, like not mixing in with your friends and family. They're accusing the government of abandoning interest in COVID and warning of a brutal Easter as infections apparently hit record levels. Um, they want Brits to follow new COVID measures to fight the disease. Apparently last week COVID cases hit 20,301 infections, which was the highest since February 21. One thing I don't know why the NHS aren't saying, the fact that it's not like life-threatening though, really. If you look at— I've been looking at the research all morning, doesn't seem like anyone is getting any life-threatening experiences with COVID We don't lock down for colds and we don't lock down for flu, so why should we be locking down for milder forms of COVID Let me know what you think, because if the NHS put pressure on the government and the government relent, then it's going to affect every single one of us. So you should stand up, you should speak out for what you believe is right and wrong. We put this government into power and position, and we should hold them accountable. So please hit the share button. Please let me know your thoughts. I get this feeling that the public just won't comply, and I think people have had enough of it. Some people here in the comments are saying it's lies. So yeah, the NHS Confederation have accused the Tories of abandoning, abandoning any interest in COVID. Let's be honest though, the war between Ukraine and Russia is a big issue, and you can understand that the government would need to focus on, on that area. The NHS have called for people to wear masks in crowded places and not meet indoors. Not meet indoors. Health bosses say the rising COVID rates and staff sickness is impacting its ability to tackle record backlogs of patients needing care. Apparently millions of patients have already been told to stay away from busy A&E units. Well, here's the thing that I do sympathise with. If the NHS are inundated, what about other people with cancer? What about all the people with life-threatening diseases? How many of those people actually passed away or didn't get the care they needed in lockdown 1 and 2? So, you know, I do think the NHS needs more support, but I'm not sure that masks and, you know, restricting indoor activity is the way forward. I definitely don't think we can restrict business and trade because I think the economic impact, the depression impact, the suicide impact could be vast. What's going to be the cost of this? How much are taxes going to go up and up and up? Let me know what you think in the comments. Um, apparently the number of virus-infected patients in hospitals last week breached 20,000, the highest since February 2021. But why aren't the NHS giving us the stats and the facts on how life-threatening these people are? It feels to me like they just don't want to be overrun. And whilst I understand that, what's best for the country? What's best for the people? Um, NHS leaders and their teams feel abandoned by the government, and they deserve better. So let me know what you think. The NHS are demanding the return to masks and calling for limits on outdoor and indoor activity, masks in crowded places, and no indoor mixing. Um, I personally believe that if you do this and you turn your back on the small business, the employee, I think that depression and economic impact could be vastly on the rise. I think we need to know how serious this really is. Is it just scaremongering? But I'm just going to say how it is, and I might get lambasted by a few for it. I don't think we should return to masks, and I don't think we should limit indoor mixing. I think we should learn to live with this, which is what the government have said you know, living with COVID and until you can see that deaths are on the rise and those death rises are more than the implications of masks and restricting activity. Because what they didn't model is the downsides and the implications. So they didn't model how many people would die of cancer, how many people would die of terminal illness that couldn't get into the hospitals when we were locked down and shut down. They didn't model the economic and financial and mental health, depression and suicide implications of lockdowns and COVIDs. And whilst I get lockdown 1.0, maybe, you know, you don't want to be the Prime Minister that allows a million deaths, but once we'd come through that, you know, lockdown 2, lockdown 3, you know, the soft lockdowns, surely they weren't needed. This isn't fake news. This is something that the NHS Confederation have said. They believe there should be a return to masks and limiting indoor activity and mixing. They believe it could be a brutal Easter. They're saying that the infection rates are the highest they've been since Feb 2021, but what they're not telling us is how serious it is. So let me know what you think. Should we be masks and soft lockdowns and limiting indoor activity, or should we rebel against this? Should we stand up and speak out? And should we learn to live with COVID I'd love your thoughts. Also, please hit the share button because the reason many people haven't seen this message is because obviously there's all the Ukraine and the Russian news, and that's obviously more serious. Um, but in reality, um, we can't let these things go under the rug because it seems that any important news or any important accountability that the government need to be held to just gets pushed under the rug. Like, what about all the implications of all the NHS parties— what, sorry, the Government parties, the Downing Street parties, while we were all in lockdown struggling to survive and struggling to keep our businesses going and, you know, experiencing loneliness. The world was experiencing loneliness and depression and anxiety, and their businesses were struggling to trade, and yet the government were having parties and nothing's happened. A few crappy little fines like a parking ticket will be issued and that will be that. So we've got to hold them accountable, and we can't just move on from all these things and assume things won't happen. We should not have a return to masks, in my humble opinion. I haven't done a massive amount of research, but until they can show how many people are dying and they can model the downsides, I say no masks, and I say we carry on as normal and learn to live with it in a common sense way. Let me know what you think, and please do hit the share button. And remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
