No one cares how ‘hard’ you work 😳

In this motivational business‑advice video, Rob Moore argues that the common belief that hard work leads to success is a myth. He explains that people (customers, employers, and the market) care about three concrete factors: (1) Service – how much you care and go beyond expectations; (2) Value – delivering more benefit than the price paid; and (3) Production – the quality and quantity of output, not the number of hours logged. Moore critiques “active procrastination” – working hard on the wrong tasks – and promotes a shift from labor‑intensive effort to leverage‑based, smart work. Throughout, he interweaves personal anecdotes (his son’s football game) and repeatedly invites viewers to join his paid membership platform, Rob.team, highlighting his credentials (quarter‑billion in revenue, 1,550 property tenants, 16 books) and the suite of courses offered. The core message is that success comes from caring, creating value, and producing efficiently, not from bragging about how hard one works.

So no one actually cares how hard you work. No one cares about fairness of the work that you do. People actually care about 3 things when it comes to your work. Now it's a big myth about how hard work is related to results. Yes, sweat beats regret. Yes, you have to work hard enough not to have to work hard. However, often the harder you work, the less productive, effective, and efficient you become. And, you know, when you buy an iPhone, do you care how hard Apple worked? When you buy a car, Do you care how hard the company and the staff worked? No, you don't. No one cares how hard you work. Honestly, I have almost 100 staff and I don't care how hard they work. What I care about is value, production, and service. So I'm going to talk about those real quick. Stop wearing like a badge of honor how hard you work. You outwork everyone, you out-hustle everyone. It's such an entrepreneurial thing to say, 'I'm the hardest worker, I get up earlier, I work through lunch, I go to bed later.' But here's the thing, it's not the hardest working people that make the most money or become the most successful. It isn't. Otherwise all the people in the mines and all the people building the buildings and all the laborers they would be rich. In fact, labour is the lowest form of earnings. Labour. So people think the harder you work, the more successful you are. Uh-uh. And no one cares. So people care about production, service, and value. So Rosemary has said the smartest. Do you know what? There are so many really smart well-educated people who are broke and who aren't successful. So it's actually not the smartest either. So people care how much you care. So let's, let's do it in any order. Let's do service. People care how much you care. They care if you go over and above, if you serve, if you look after, if you do more than you're paid to do, then people care. You go to a restaurant, you care if you're served well, if the waiter or waitress does a good job, if your portions are good, if your expectations are exceeded. So people care if you care, number 1. Number 2, then they care about value. Do people get more than they paid for or less than they paid for? Because you can pay $50 for a digital watch that breaks and you think you've been ripped off. Yet you could pay £100,000 for a Patek Philippe and feel like you've got a bargain. So people actually don't care about the price. People will pay crazy money for convenience, for speed, for ease. People do not buy based on price, they buy based on value. And by the way, the industries that are the worst to be in are when people are just price shopping, and like maybe, maybe budget airlines. So are you Offering more value than you're charging for? Are you going over and above, and are you providing value? That's the second thing. The third thing, like I said, people don't care how hard you work, is your production, your output. Like if you're a factory in an industry, what's your output of products and services and widgets? When you work for your company, what output of quality productive work do you put out? Now look, people won't like it if you're really lazy, but even Bill Gates, he said, I hire lazy people because lazy people find the shortest route for the best result. So you could say that they work smart, not hard. They're thinking leverage, not labor. Smart, not hard. Leverage, not labor. So honestly, if my staff do do more than they're paid to do, or their results exceed their job description? Does it matter if they do 2 quality hours work a day or 8 quality hours work a day? Well, they'll be doing quality work. It's not how hard they work, it's the quality of the work. It's not how many jobs you get done, it's the effectiveness and the income generation of the jobs you get done. Cool comments coming in, by the way. When all is said and done, more is said than done. To know and not to do is not to know. Now, here's the thing. People think that hard work should mean that the world pays them and that the boss notices them and gives them a promotion and that the world owes them something. But here's the thing, you can work hard at the wrong shit. And actually, I see a lot of people who think they're working hard, they're working dumb. Because what a lot of people do is what I call active procrastination. Active procrastination is working really hard on the wrong shit because you are procrastinating against the high income generating tasks. You're procrastinating against the meaningful tasks, the difficult tasks, you know, the frogs that you should be eating. So actually hard work and smart work are not the same. Time and money are not as related as people think. And you have to work productively, carefully, as in caring, and you have to offer value. And you could do something for 20 minutes that offers thousands of pounds worth of value, or you could do something for 20 hours that's worth absolutely nothing. So quick summary if you've just tuned in: hard work is a great myth that to be successful you just got to work hard. And people do not care how hard you work. Your boss does not care how hard you work. When you buy a car, you don't care how hard the laborers worked. When you buy phone, a phone, you don't care how hard Apple worked. What you care about are 3 things: is this product useful to me and is it valuable? Does it give me equal to or more than I paid for? You're not thinking, oh, do you know what, I'm going to buy the Apple iPhone because it took 722 hours to build over and above 600 hours for the Samsung phone. That's why I'm going to buy the Apple iPhone. No one cares. And here's the thing as well, as entrepreneurs, we brag about it. I work so fucking hard. I work harder than everyone. The government doesn't love me. My customers aren't paying, but I work so hard. No one fucking cares. So in a restaurant, you don't care how hard the chef works, you care if your food's fucking good. You don't care how hard your waiter or waitress works, you care if they give you good service. So you care about 3 things: how useful and productive is an employer, an employee, a company, a product, a service? You know, you want your time saved. You want your life to be easier, faster, better, less friction, more convenient. So there are some thoughts. Let me know what you think in the comments, by the way. Do you agree that people don't care how hard you work? Or in some instances, is hard work important? Do you agree that offering value over and above what people pay for is more important than hard work? Like if you buy a nice watch, do you care how many hours it took to make the watch? Or do you care that the watch is beautiful? Let me know what you think in the comments. I better go, my son's about to kick off. Football, not angry. And make sure you join Rob.team. Well, maybe. It ain't your wife or husband. No. It's not your mortgage. No. It's not your, um, employees. Nope. Tax. Tax is your business's biggest expense. If you're employed, half your money gets nicked off you and you never see it. So imagine being out of half what you give to the government legitimately and legally. Surely you should be up for that. And yet you're only paying the cost of a large coffee to join rob.team. So jump in, open a new page, type in rob.team in a new window. Inflation's pretty expensive, Leon, but tax is more. Inflation is 10-15% a year. Tax is 50% a year if you're lucky. Yet most people are busy trying to save a few pennies. Oh, I'm not going to drink a coffee today, and I'm going to go down KFC and lick people's fingers for lunch, and I'm going to walk 17 miles a day to work. That's how I'm going to get through this cost of living crisis. No, can't save your way out of this. You have to earn your way out of this. Learn your way out of this. Invest your way out of this. And that's exactly what Rob.team helps you to do. So open a new window, a new page, type in Rob.team. I'll see you there. Yeah, Leon, I just filled up my car today. £151. Ah, puts into perspective that Rob.team is only, um, the cost of a large coffee. I should put it up. In fact, if In fact, Rob.team has been the cost of a large coffee, a fiver, for 3 years. I need to put the price up. With inflation, it now should be £722 a month, but it's not. Thanks for tuning in. I'll see you in Rob.team. And remember, no one gives a fuck how hard you work. People care about, do you offer value? Is what they pay for equal to or less than what they get? Do they get equal to or more than what they paid for? That's the first thing they care about. The second thing they care about is do you care? Do you go over and above with service? People don't care what you know till they know that you care. And then the third thing people care about is production and output and productivity. Don't care how hard you work because when you buy your clothes, you don't go, "Oh, look at that nice design handbag. I'm buying that because someone worked 72 hours sweating in a sweatshop to make that handbag." No, you care about the quality, about the brand. Thanks for tuning in.
