Our Education System is Broken 🤬

Rob Moore argues the education system is broken: schools don't teach financial literacy or entrepreneurship, rely on rote memorization instead of critical thinking, and underpay teachers. He points to Eton as an example of how elite schools funnel disproportionate numbers of leaders into politics, undermining democracy.

Our education system is fundamentally broken, and if you have children or want to have, I think you should be gravely concerned. Now, a good education system is one measure of a thriving economy or country, and a broken education system is a reflection of a dying economy or country. And right now we're in certainly a national, if not a global revolution, where systems of the past that have been built on empires are starting to crumble and break. And there is a new world order coming, a revolution coming. It could be an education revolution, a financial revolution, a power revolution. It could unfortunately end up being a war. Look at how divided our nations and our world are. Look at how divided, you know, the left and the right, for example. So I just want to talk briefly in this video about the maybe 5 or 6 elements of what I see as a broken education system and ways I'm looking to help change it, and some thoughts from you as well. So number one is it's fundamentally underfunded. Unfortunately, most of our national services, the NHS, the education system, right now are drastically underfunded. Soaring cost of living, massive government debt, and, you know, a part of the cycle whereby a lot of this debt that's been created has forced underfunding and just great, basically huge debt burdens. We've got the education system talking about a 3-day week because it can't afford its increasing salaries for its tutors and the soaring cost of energy, etc. And, you know, there's a lot of people in the poorer parts of the country and the world that need more and better education, not less. Yet there's speak of going down to 3 or 4 days a week in the education system. So I think that that's one sign that the education system is fundamentally broken, and it affects us all, by the way. And it's one of the main barometers of a thriving economy and country. Jeremy has said here it's been broken for 2 decades. So let me know what your thoughts are on the underfunding of our education system. The second thing is, for many years we've been taught how to memorise and not taught how to think critically. Now, it could have changed since I was at school, I will accept that. I'm not the biggest expert in the world on the education system, and I'm always open to discussion and debate. However, when I was at school, everything was about memorising something instead of thinking critically, challenging your own thinking, disrupting yourself on your own thought process. So I believe we need to be taught how to think critically, think through the eyes of others, think in terms of creativity and solution and innovation rather than just memory recall. So let me know what you think about that in the comments. The third thing is fundamentally in schools we're not really taught what we need to, um, survive in this disruptive world. We're not taught about, really, about money management. We're certainly not taught how to manage and master our emotions, and we're not taught about our emotions around money. Like I said, we're not really taught about balanced critical thinking and seeing the world through the eyes of other people. You know, look at America, they mostly hate China. Well, actually, I've just listened to some great content on seeing China through China's eyes and looking at the world through the Chinese value system. And actually it makes you understand the way they work much better, and probably would make you want to less go to war with them if you're an American, for example. But, you know, for example, Americans mostly see the world through their own value system and not the value system of others. So I think we need to be taught about money. I mean, that's the big one. Because money makes the world go round. Money is the vehicle to freedom. Money is the vehicle to luxury, to travel, to experience. And yet we're not taught how to manage this thing called money. We're not taught how to manage these things called emotions, which lead to addictions. So that we're not really taught what we need to survive and thrive in this disruptive world. I mean, I was taught geography at school. Like I said, it could have changed, and I'm always open to discussion and debate if you think I'm wrong, by the way. But when I was at school, I was put into the top set because I could memory recall. But anyone can memory recall. I was just motivated to memorise because I wanted to be noticed. So I was motivated by shame. I memorised things because I wanted to be noticed and appreciated. And I, for example, read the whole of the— who was it? Luke. But I read basically the whole of a religious studies textbook and I got an A* in religious studies. I wasn't actually interested in religion or religious studies. I was just able to memorise the parables. And when I was in one of the top sets, I was put in the géographie class, and the géographie was where we were taught geography in French. Now, how is it useful to survival of humanity and to me to live a good life and a valuable life? How is it useful that I can say, "Où est la banque? La banque est à l'étude droite, plutôt ni à gauche." How is learning geography in French relevant to, you know, what I'm gonna do for the rest of my life? It's not. The next— so, so money is a big one. You know, one of my areas of specialism is money in terms of learning about it, trying to make, manage, and master it, and being an entrepreneur. And there's virtually nothing taught about money. Now, when you go into GCSE, you can choose economics, but you're not really encouraged to. And economics is very different to learning about how money works from a an energy and a value and an emotional perspective rather than just a macroeconomic perspective. They're very different. So money must be taught much more in schools, much better. In fact, I've been invited to talk at a local school about money, and I will be disrupting them for sure. You know, so many things aren't understood. For example, pocket money. Teaching your kids what the world really is like, getting them to have a work ethic to earn money. You know, I do believe at a younger age we should be taught about earning money and creating value, even if we're going to wait till later in life to do that. But we're never really ready for that. You know, a lot of people go to university, get there, get a really good specialist degree, and they don't know how to earn any money. And they get, they get, what, 6 figures in debt. How is it right that you can spend from the age of, let's say, 9 to 21 or 23 educating yourself, getting into 6 figures of debt, and then getting a job that pays such a low salary, or not being able to get a job. And then you're in debt for the rest of your life, and you're stuck in this debt cycle in the system, and that's fundamentally wrong. The next thing is, the people who teach in schools and universities about economics and finance and business, the tutors— I mean, they have guest lecturers, don't get me wrong, but mostly the tutors are broke. So, you know, if you're a multimillionaire, or you're very successful in business and entrepreneurship, You're not a tutor teaching in schools. You're running a real business. A real, real, real, real, real business. So yeah, someone has said they allow Jamie Oliver into schools but they won't allow Martin Lewis. So that's an interesting paradox of the people who do know how to educate around money, maybe they're not in the school system. But, you know, how much does a tutor earn? Even at the high level in business and finance and economics? Virtually nothing. You wouldn't have someone who's just had a triple heart bypass operation and is 7 stone overweight, you wouldn't have them teach you about personal training, health and fitness, would you? So why are most of our teachers who are teaching us about business and finance and economics, why are they broke? It's fundamentally wrong. Now maybe the tutors aren't paid enough. So maybe the salaries, you know, certainly some of our really important roles in the world, like firemen, firefighters and teachers and doctors and nurses. You know, these are really important for society, but society doesn't deem them as valuable enough to pay them more money. And maybe if they were paid more money and society deemed them as valuable, or society was changed so that they could get paid more money, the quality would go up. You know, one of my friends said that the Prime Minister should be paid a lot more money. They're not paid enough. You know, in these valuable, vital roles where we're raising the next generation of the survival of humanity, Maybe we should be paying much more and see these roles and take them much more seriously. Anyway, let me know what you think about that. The next reason why the education system is broken is because Eton, or, you know, the one or two very high-brow public schools in London, basically produce all the politicians and the prime ministers, etc. So we've got this Etonian London private school very small core creating all of our leaders and politicians. And how can that be right? How is that representative of our entire country and our entire spread of values? It's not. It's like the recent Prime Minister, um, well, the soon-to-be Prime Minister, the most recent one. It will be Rishi or Truss, won't it? And basically, it's not a democracy because it's voted by a few hundred or even a few thousand max politicians. How is that a good system whereby a few hundred or a few thousand people across 70 million are choosing our Prime Minister? Now some people would say, well, many of the masses aren't educated to make those decisions. Certainly China thinks like that, for example. But it just doesn't seem representative. And we definitely need more of a wider representation of people in politics and leading our country and not just from Eton. So yeah, let me know what you think about what I've said here about the broken education system and the areas in which they are broken. Are they underfunded? Are they teaching us to memory recall rather than be creative and innovative and disruptive? Are some of the teachers underpaid? Are we taught the right stuff? Is there enough money education taught in schools? Are the tutors paid? Enough, for example. These are some of the areas in which I think the, the school system is broken, and it's one of the indicators of a broken financial system. And this is why I'm on a massive mission to try and change this. And I'm not so bothered about getting in schools and teaching about money. I'm more bothered about creating my own school, because how am I, an individual, going to be able to change the system that's been built up over centuries that people you know, I want to hold on to tightly, this sort of system to create clones who are then in debt in the system. You know, almost like people are being created for their blood and then their blood is just being taken on a drip for the rest of their life. That's how I see the financial and education system. Whereas people like me are a bit more rebellious to it. Whereas I learned how to make money by making money. I learned how to be an entrepreneur by being an entrepreneur. I self-educated. Books, courses, masterminds, podcasts, audiobooks, and actually learn to be more of a disruptive entrepreneur. So I've set up Rob.team as a financial resource to help you start your business, scale your business, get better financial education and knowledge, and make, manage, and master money by managing and mastering your emotions, by setting up side hustles, knowing the, the value of money, the the function of money, the rules and laws of money, and creating online digital assets as well as physical assets, and creating assets that produce income so you can live off the income, so you can go and do meaningful work. This is what Rob.team is set up for. It's what you didn't learn in school, it's what you didn't learn in college, except you're not going to get a 6-figure debt. You're just going to pay the cost of a large coffee you can cancel anytime with no contract. So it's, you know, what have you got to lose? So go and join Rob.team right now by typing in Rob.team, Rob.team, into a new window right now, because the education system is failing you and it's failing your children. But you can learn how to be an entrepreneur from entrepreneurs. You can learn how to make money from money masters. And you can self-educate now much more. I mean, maybe the school system might go that way. It might be a hybrid system. Like, here's something ridiculous. I probably shouldn't say this. I'm probably not going to make some friends at my school, but I think it's important to say. But we've had to get both my daughter and my son extra extracurricular tuition. Now, they go to one of the most expensive schools in our entire county, yet we're having to pay for extra extracurricular tuition. Why is that? Why are we double paying? Doesn't make any sense. Surely there's a failing there in the schooling system if the school system isn't getting our children to the level that they need to be. So maybe the future is a hybrid system where there's a school system but there's also a self-education system, or a hybrid between self-education, home education, and school education. Maybe there needs to be a disruption or a fragmentation of education. These are all things that we should discuss together, so let me know in the comments. But I can certainly tell you that a few of the fundamentals of money that I've taught my children, their tutors don't know. So I teach my children: save a third, spend a third, invest a third of the money that they get. They have to— whenever they have a dessert, there's always a tax on that dessert. Which is a couple of spoons from me. And whenever they earn money, there's a tax on that money. They go and work in my company and there's a tax on that. And they're not given pocket money by me, they're given the ability to earn and create value and work. And their tutors aren't teaching this stuff. So it's kind of a crazy world we're living in, but I am. Oh, and by the way, I've just updated something in Rob.team and you're gonna love this. Your children get free access. Access. And I wonder if you wouldn't mind, once you've joined, sharing this video. Because I'm open to discussion. Maybe the education system has changed for the better since, you know, I was in it. But it certainly didn't do me any favours in the— okay, I met people, great. You know, and I probably learned to socialise, great. But you can do that in other ways. You don't have to go into school for 15 years to learn that. There are other ways. But it was not a good fit for me. I didn't know what I wanted to do. I didn't really have anyone guiding me, telling me, you know, what would have been good for me and unleashing my own individual talents. No one was there to guide me on that. And I had to find that myself through a few repeated failures through the system. And I built 50 grand's worth of debt in the system, and it took me a lot of time to pay that off. And only when I learned to be an entrepreneur and learned to make, manage, and master money, and learn from people actually doing it in the real world who are millionaires, and they weren't in the the school system. It was only then that I actually learned how to make, manage, and master money and my own emotions and be an entrepreneur and find my calling in life. Which, you know, I was never taught what my calling was. I was never taught how to understand my values and vision and, you know, what would be most important to me and how I could unleash the usefulness that I could offer to the world and get paid handsomely for it. I was never taught any of that And I think it needs to be taught fundamentally in schools. So go join rob.team and you can learn how to do all of this at about 0.001% of the cost of the education system. So just type rob.team into a new window right now in the internet. Go join it, cancel anytime, no contract. Costs you one-third of the price of Netflix, but you will learn, earn, invest, and create multiple streams of recurring income. So go join. Benjamin has said, what's your opinion on our education system? Should it upgrade or change totally? I think it's, um, right for disruption, Benjamin. I think it's time coming soon. I mentioned, if you go back and watch the start of the video, I mentioned the 5 or 6 areas I think the system is broken. I think it's underfunded. I think some of the important teachers are underpaid. I think that the wrong teachers are in the wrong roles. Certainly with money and business and finance and economics, you need people who've been very successful at that and not just theorists of that. There's a lot of theory in school and not a lot of practical and tactical. So the people that are teaching business, economics, and finance, they absolutely need to be disrupted for sure. I think this Etonian, very small clique of very expensive private schools that have got the lineage of creating our leaders and politicians needs to be broken up and needs to be more equal and fair and diverse. Yeah, there's a lot going on, but let me know your thoughts. Hit the share button, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
