Price Increases Soaring Today (‘Black Thursday’)

In this solo YouTube commentary, Rob Moore warns viewers that today’s “Black Thursday” marks a wave of UK price increases – higher interest rates, a steep rise in the energy price cap, soaring petrol and food costs, and looming tax hikes. He critiques recent government waste, citing £8.7 bn written off on unused PPE and £4‑5 bn in poorly managed pandemic loans, and notes that wage growth is lagging far behind inflation. After outlining the scale of the problem and its impact on households and small businesses, Moore delivers five actionable strategies: (1) protect cash from inflation by moving it into managed ISAs or tracker funds; (2) invest in income‑producing assets (real estate, royalties, digital subscriptions) rather than non‑yielding items like gold; (3) scrutinise and trim spending, especially in high‑inflation categories; (4) minimise tax liability through legitimate business expenses and side‑hustle structures; and (5) generate additional income, chiefly by joining his “Make Cash Challenge” and the subscription platform rob.team. The video blends factual economic updates, personal finance advice, and a strong promotional push for his paid programs, ending with multiple calls to share the video and sign up for the challenge.

So it looks like price rises today are going to go large. Um, price soaring, price increases, and price hikes are being banded around the media. Um, they're also calling today Black Thursday because of the various price increases hitting millions. In this short video, I'm going to tell you what's going on right now with price increases and where they're happening. I'm gonna have a little bit of a rant about why I think in many areas it's wrong. Then I'm going to give you 5 practical solutions so you can combat all these price rises. I don't want anyone to think I'm just bitching and moaning about this. I'm not, but we do have to speak out. So many experts are calling today a brutal Black Thursday because today interest rates are being reviewed and of course are likely to go up. Now, uh, it's been at virtually zero for a long time, so let's be honest, it's artificially low. But to go from nought-ish to 0.25 to 0.5 in the last two reviews, you know, if you've got a mortgage, your mortgage, um, if you have a variable mortgage, your mortgage costs are going to go up. The big one is gas and electric. So they're increasing the price caps and bringing that price cap increase forward. And so it looks like the average energy bill is going to double, and it looks like the average energy bill could be £2,000 a year. By the way, mine's currently £400 a month, so mine could be £600, £800 a month. It could be £10 grand a year to heat my toes. Then of course we've got petrol prices. So petrol prices are at record high. Then we have inflation that's virtually a record high. Then we have food prices. So food price inflation doubled in January, although some media outlets said food prices double in January. That's not the case, that's fearmongering. But food price inflation was 1.5% in December-ish and it went up to 3% in January-ish. Then you had the government who have just had to write off £8.7 billion in PPE protective equipment because they couldn't use it. And then they had to write off £4-5 billion in loans that they gave out because they didn't track it probably, and there was fraudulent claiming of loans on lockdowns. And what really hurts here, by the way, is that so many people who should have got loans through lockdowns didn't. And then, you know, when it all happened, we're like, we're going to support everyone and everyone's going to be able to get loans and furlough and all this and all that. And I think it was a bit oversold, maybe. So a lot of people who should have got loans didn't. And I know people who gamed the loan system, by the way. So yes, so £8.7 billion written off of PPE. 5 billion written off of loans, and that track and trace app which virtually failed that they spent nearly 5 billion on. Someone's just said, oh, but by the way, we did get a 1.5% increase a year in salary. So here's the problem: wage increase is nowhere near even inflation, let alone overall cost of living. Wage increase is not as much as food increase, gas increase, electricity increase, energy increase. Fuel increase, etc. So we've got big freaking problems. Please hit the share button and warn as many people as possible. Now, some people could say, well, it's all right for you, Rob, you're an entrepreneur, you've made a decent amount of money over the last 15, 16 years, and you know, these lower expenses— energy, fuel, etc.— probably they're not going to affect me massively. I mean, they're going to sting, especially when you add all the tax on, But I want to support the small business owner. I want to support those people who are on, you know, the financial breadline right now. Because to a lot of families, just taking away their £20, you know, extra credit really hurts them. So these people are going to get really hurt. This is going to affect tens of millions of people. So never let it be said that I don't help everyone and not just entrepreneurs. And you need to do the same. You need to hit the share button and get this message out to as many people as possible. There's also going to be my 5 solutions, because we can moan and rant about it, but we have to turn that energy into solution. So consumer expert Martin James said it's going to be Black Thursday. Millions of households across the UK are waking up to the reality of huge energy price hits while inflation inches ever up. I wouldn't say inches up, I would say it's double digit. Um, and all the main bills look set to rise. Households face a National Insurance rise and a council tax hike and higher energy bills from April 1st, which is in what, 2-odd months. Soaring inflation is adding £180 a year to grocery. Soaring crude oil prices are pushing up prices at the pumps. Experts last night predicted capped energy tariffs will shoot up by around 50% to £1,915 for the typical consumer as a result of the announcement today. Another rise in the energy cap is expected to go up in the autumn. Then you've got corp tax going up from 19% to 25%. That hasn't come down. I mean, in the last recession they reduced that. Why the hell have they not reduced that? Get VAT down, stop increasing corp tax, dividend tax, National Insurance. They should be reducing business rates so that they can encourage businesses to start thriving again. So let me do a quick summary of what's going on, and then let me give you the 5 solutions. And please share this because, you know, it may be all right for you and I, it may not, but for millions of people, an extra £20 or £50 a month on their bills could make the— the— you know, it's make or break for many, many people, and this is hitting millions. So they're calling it Black Thursday in this brutal price hike, price soar today, where, um, some announcements are going to be made. Of course, the interest rate rise, um, the price cap on energy, and gas and electric bills are hitting £2,000 a year now. Mortgage payments, of course, if you have a variable mortgage, will go up with rate rises. Petrol prices, uh, record highs. Inflation, record high. Um, food inflation doubled from December to January. Um, £8.7 billion from the government has been written off for PPE. Why am I telling you that? Because that's about the same amount that they've generated in from the National Insurance increase. Hmm, what do you think about that, I wonder? Um, they've got a right of 5 Nearly £5 billion in loans that they, you know, didn't lend properly. They can call it fraud, but they're the ones that lend it and they have the criteria. And millions who probably need the loans didn't get it, and those that probably didn't need it gained it. And that's not, that's not the consumer's fault, that's their fault. Um, although yeah, to be fair, people who shouldn't have fraudulently claimed loans, of course. Um, that failed track and trace app. Um, and someone has said here property trainings are coming. Here's the thing, I can't put my prices up. I haven't put my prices up. Many of my prices have gone down, but all of my costs have gone up. It's not fair on a lot of businesses. Okay, so Black Thursday, millions of households have huge energy prices, inflation rises, um, £180 a year on your food going up, energy tariffs up another 50%, and more price rises to come. Okay, so that's the news. Hit the share button. Here are the 5 things you can do about it. Number 1, protect your cash from inflation. So, um, if inflation is going up and all these costs are going up and prices are going up, your cash is going down. If there's quantitative easing, printing more money, essentially that is inflation. So inflation, I believe, is, is well more than 10%. So if you have cash or money in the bank, then you're $1 is 90 cents, 85 cents next year. Well, your £1 might be less. So what you need to do is you need to protect your cash from inflation, and you need to put it into an asset. You need to protect your cash from inflation. You know, at least have it in, um, you know, a managed ISA in the stock market, a tracker fund, or buy all the— make sure you get investment advice or teach yourself proper investment. But it's vital that you protect your cash from inflation, number one. Number two is investing in assets. If you can take your capital, put it into an asset, and that asset can go up above the rate of inflation, then not only have you protected your cash from inflation— so it's going up, not going down— but you're also getting an appreciating asset that also may produce income. And therefore, you have got, um, you can also have leverage because, you know, you might get, um, a 30% deposit and a 70% loan on a property. Well, actually, high inflation is paying down your loan. So you protect your cash from inflation, you get leverage, and then inflation pays down your loans. So that's— it's not all bad, by the way. But you know, you need to know these strategies and tactics. A lot of people are talking about gold and silver and things like that. I mean, obviously, when inflation is high or currency is challenged, like cryptos are challenging fiat, precious metals tend to do well in their appreciation. The thing with silver and gold though is it doesn't have an income stream, so it might be better than cash, but it's not an asset that produces income. Someone here has said Lego. So my watches have gone up, my Lego's gone up, my classic cars have, have gone up. Um, so you know, it's not all doom and gloom, but a lot of people don't know how to invest in assets. I'd rather invest in an asset that produces income. So Lego and gold and silver and things, cars, classic cars, watches they don't produce income, they just protect capital. But if you can get real estate or some kind of royalty income, then, you know, build a subscription platform and get recurring income from that, then you protect your cash from inflation, you can leverage that asset, i.e., it's worth more than the cash that you put in, and you can get an ongoing income stream. Okay, the third thing you need to do is just check your spending. You've got to do another budget, I'm afraid, and you've got to review where you spend. Now you probably can't help spending on fuel, you can't help spending on food, you can't help spending on energy, but make sure you price compare. And on other things that you buy which maybe doesn't have as much price inflation, try and spend money there and not spend money where there's massive price inflation. So I used to buy a lot of watches. I haven't bought any for quite a while except one I've just done a deal on because I've got a good deal on it because price inflation is crazy. I have a hybrid car, and now what I do is just run it mostly on the battery, and don't— I only fill it up with fuel once every sort of 2 or 3 months. So when you do a lot of these little things, it can add up to quite a lot. You could also liquidate some things you own. I'll come to that in a moment. The fourth thing that you can do that's really important to do is you need to reduce your tax bill. Now, the problem if you're employed is you you pay tax first and you get what's left. Whereas if you have a side hustle or you're a start or a scale-up entrepreneur, what you can actually do is you get paid first and then you pay your tax last. You know, you pay your tax in, you know, winter and summer, start and middle of the year, and you can defer that. So you basically, you run your year and then you pay in January after your year end. So actually what you can do is you can run R&D budget through, you can run cars through an LLP. You can make sure that all your travel is, um, for a business expense. You're, you know, if you buy phones to use on social media to generate income and you buy microphones for podcasts and all the things that you buy, make sure that you're offsetting everything that you legitimately can as a business expense. Get the advice of a good accountant or a good tax lawyer on that. But there's a lot of things that are actually on the government website or good accountants and solicitors know that most people don't, the masses don't. And then the fifth thing you need to do is make more money. Now I know if you make more money then you've got a cash good problem, but I'd rather you have a cash problem of inflation than a no cash problem because a cash problem is a first world problem. So you've got to sell more, you've probably got to sell some of your items, I've got a load of vinyl here, sell your old golf clubs, sell the things you don't use, start your side hustle, get referrals, start generating leads on social media, and put more money in the bank. So accountability is everything. Okay, Alexandra's in. Um, yeah, you are in because I can see the badge. So I'm going to share the link in the comments right now, uh, and I'll see you on the Make Cash Challenge. A quick summary then: please hit the share button because millions of people are going to be affected today. They're calling it Black Thursday because interest rates are probably going to go up today, and also, um, price rises in energy, in fuel, in food, billions written off by the government, major tax increases, council tax increases, National Insurance increases. This shit is real, and we need to warn as many people about it as possible. And remember, I've given you 5 solutions. Let me summarize them again. 1, protect your cash from inflation. Get out of cash and get it into assets. 2, invest in assets that produce capital growth and income. 3, try and spend in non-price-hiked areas, and where the prices are high, try and reduce your spending there. 4, get your tax down and offset everything you can, even if you have to start up a side hustle to do that. And 5, make more money joining the Make Cash Challenge. I can see that Spencer is in. I can see that Alexandra is in because I can see the badge. Some of you are asking, where do I go when I've joined the challenge, uh, and when I've joined the subscription platform? Declan is in, by the way, as well. Well, what happened is late this afternoon I will post an agenda for the whole challenge, and you will be shown that either by Facebook or on the Rob.team platform. There's also a Facebook group on Facebook, and you'll automatically be added in there. So, um, you're going to get reminders from me later today before we start tomorrow. Just, I've got to get a couple of things done first. Hit the share button. It's being called Black Thursday. Um, I think the government need to be held accountable. I'm trying to do videos every day to get campaign to reduce tax, campaign to reduce massive price hikes and inflation. Um, trying to do my bit. And I just ask two things of you. One, hit the share button now. Two, join the challenge, uh, link is in the comments, and give yourself the gift. Because I have ranted about things that are going on that I don't think are fair, but honestly, if I rant without a solution, it's not productive. So for me, it's always about giving the solution to the problem. And the biggest solution to these price rises— Spencer, you're in. Yeah, the biggest solution to these price rises is to make more cash. If you make more cash way above inflation and price rises, you're net better off. And the best way to do that is join the subscription platform. Link is in the comments. And tomorrow, the Make Cash Challenge starts. By the way, I'm giving away tens of thousands of pounds of prizes and gifts and mentoring and masterminding. I might even do like a private VIP dinner with me for some of the top performers. And every day there's Ask Me Anything Lives and Q&As to hold you accountable. I don't do public Ask Me Anything Lives anymore, only in my subscription platform. So thanks for tuning in everyone, love you all. Hit the share button and remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
