Richard Branson Calls Sanctions on Putin

Rob Moore discusses Richard Branson's call for economic and trade sanctions against Russia as an alternative to military intervention. Moore argues sanctions can starve conflict by cutting financial flows, cites apartheid-era sanctions as precedent, and warns unchecked escalation risks World War III.

Richard Branson has publicly called out Putin, uh, and some of the world's most prominent influencers are now making their position very clear. So someone asked me, do I think all these sanctions are an effective move against Putin? Well, I'd much rather this financial and information and trade sanctions than there is sending in tanks and planes and bombs. So, um, let me just tell you where Richard Branson's stance is on this, because I wouldn't say that Richard Branson is politically, um, driven. I think he makes his feelings clear, and I think he's a rebellious entrepreneur. But of course, he has the influence of probably tens or hundreds of millions of people And he's made his stance pretty clear. Now, I think there's more than just a war of countries and of people going on, um, and a war of dictatorship and totalitarianism. I think there's a war on information, and I think that there's some perpetrators on both sides, by the way. I don't think you can just point your finger at Russia and say it's all one way. Because big tech and social media and mainstream media have been a big part of this censorship and really, you know, using information as a weapon or as a way to suffocate our influence. So there's multiple wars going on here. So something that's interesting is Putin's calling this a special military operation. And I think most people have seen through that, uh, and Richard Branson has certainly said this is an all-out war of aggression, an all-out war of aggression. So here's Richard Branson's position. I've left no doubt on my position of this. I firmly support Ukraine's sovereignty as an independent nation, its people's right to choose their own destiny free from outside interference. I also would agree with this statement. I think you should have free speech even if I don't agree with you. I think you should have ownership and property rights that are yours that I can't take. I don't think I have any right to come and try and overthrow you from your land. And I don't think that totalitarian regime and dictatorial rule, I just don't I think that's the answer. So I would certainly agree with that. Let me know what you think in the comments, by the way. Please also do share these, these videos that I'm doing because I'm kind of interrupting my usual flow of being a start and scale-up entrepreneur, getting better financial education and knowledge, because I see it as my duty and responsibility to use my platform for good, which Richard Branson has done here. Because Richard Branson's an entrepreneur, he probably doesn't want to get involved in war and politics. But of course he's come out, um, so he said here, I've come out in favor of the strongest possible sanctions against Russia, its leaders, and its economy. So again, he doesn't believe in war, clearly. He believes in sanctions and restricting the financial flow, restricting the trade flow, restricting even maybe the information flow, to suffocate, um, you know, to suffocate the oxygen that fuels the war. You know, money. War needs money. War needs money big time. So, by the way, thank you all for supporting me as well as you all kindly thanking me. So Richard Branson goes on to say the free world must do what it can to force Putin and his cronies to change course and end this war. The bloodshed must stop now. The war crimes must stop. Russian troops must retreat. I very much agree. Whatever's going on behind the scenes and whoever started it and whose ever fault it is and whatever else, because I'm sure, you know, all sides have their own responsibilities to play. It ending in invasion and war and bloodshed and death and killing innocent people trying to free the country— this is fundamentally really wrong. Where does this end? This doesn't end well. This ends in World War III. So I just want to say that I think I admire Elon standing up and speaking out to support Ukraine, but also to be a free speech absolutist. He was encouraged, even pressured, to restrict information and internet flow to Russia, and he refused because he said he's a free speech absolutist, as am I. I will fight for your right to have your opinion, even if it's different to mine, because if we allow mainstream media and other people to suffocate our voice and our opinion. Then, you know, they're saying this Great Reset, own nothing, be happy, but it's even worse. It's speak nothing, be happy. Do as you're told. Stand in line. Totalitarian regime. This has to stop. Uh, really, this has to stop. Richard Branson goes on to say Russia must feel the full force of economic and social isolation. I am old enough to remember how international sanctions and consistent boycott finally brought the South African apartheid regime to its knees. The challenge before us is one of much greater scale, but it can be done if we all collectively and individually make informed choices about products we consume and services we use. So he's saying don't do any— don't buy or trade or engage with anything that's linked to Russia, Putin, war, um, and certainly for sure, um, you know, the economic sanctions and the, um, starving of the economy seems to be the strategy. Certainly better than sending in the tanks, the planes, the guns, and everything else. So I just want to say I don't support war, no matter what started it. I think that we should be more of an evolved species and humanity where we should be able to now evolve beyond wars, because it seems like we're in de-evolution, you know. Brexit, COVID, wars— what's next? We're de-evolving almost as a species. Come on, we're gonna end up blowing each other up. And this is one of the reasons why, you know, I am interrupting a lot of my usual content. By the way, I'll still post videos in the afternoon and text posts in the evening. I'll still be, you know, if you want to start your business, scale your business, create multiple streams of recurring income, You know, you want digital, digital assets, you want to get better financial education and knowledge, I'm always going to be there for you. So make sure that you're following my page and you share my videos. But none of us are going to be able to do any of that if we end up in World War III. And I stood by Joe Rogan and I stand by Ukraine because we must have free land rights, free property rights, free information rights, Free speech rights. We must have these and we must fight for these. And so I think it's great that Richard Branson and Elon Musk are standing publicly for Ukraine and against Putin, against war, against dictatorial and totalitarian regimes. And I'm glad also that they're not encouraging war in return. You know, they're encouraging sanctions and removing of trade and, and, you know, suffocating the economy. Far better than, you know, resorting to war. So I wonder what you think. Please let me know in the comments what you think. Do you think there's anything going on behind the scenes that we don't know about? Um, please also, um, would you mind sharing this content? I agree with Erica, it's difficult because there's so much propaganda. What can you believe? Here's one thing I know, um, I know that you have to get your news and information from multiple media sources, and I know we don't really know what's going on. You know, there was quite a lot of media outlets saying, oh, it looks like Putin's got terminal bowel cancer, look at his puffy face. And I thought, I'm not going to comment on that because that seems to me like conjecture. And how would anyone know unless they know Putin and there is an actual doctor? And there's a lot of fake news flying out there, and we do have to be careful of our information source. I do certainly agree with that and try and maintain balance. But if we, if we care for humanity, if we care for our freedom and our rights and our property and our land and our information and our our ability to speak freely and openly. If we care for these things, then we're going to do all right, and we're going to start evolving and not devolving again. So remember this: fear screams loudest when it's dying. These world leaders, many of them are fear-based decision-making. War, and, you know, seizing and freezing bank accounts, canceling, deplatforming, silencing— these are fear-based decisions. If you have nothing to fear, you don't need to cancel anyone, shoot anyone, and shut anyone down. Let me say that again. If you have nothing to fear, you don't need to cancel anyone, shoot anyone, or shut anyone down. Please hit the share button. Let's do good together. Let's push on our social media channels to support freedom of all forms, even if it's not something that we agree with. Thanks for tuning in, and remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
