Savers are Losers

Rob Moore argues that keeping money in savings accounts destroys wealth because inflation outpaces interest rates and fractional-reserve banking turns deposits into bank liabilities. He says the rich treat cash as a hot potato, converting it into assets like real estate, gold, and businesses that actually beat inflation.

Savers are losers. Losers in the sense that they're the opposite of winners, but losers because you lose significant amounts of money in savings accounts. Most people don't understand just how much money they lose saving. The school system and your parents taught you to save money. It's actually pretty bad financial advice other than two small caveats. And the system, the central banking system, it wants you to save money, but not because it wants to pay you and not because it wants you to make money. So do you know that one of the worst types of standard investments is cash money. People think that cash money is an investment and an asset. It is neither. Cash money is a liability, and the banks know it. The banks do not want to hold cash on their balance sheet. The banks are allowed to use the fractional reserve system which means they have a fraction of the deposits in reserve. They're allowed to lend and invest out £10 on the pound, $10 on the dollar, only keep in the bank £1 in every 10. This is why when there is a lower trust in banks, there's a bank run, and the banks shut their doors and the savers and depositors do not get their money paid back. Now you may be thinking, well, a bank run hasn't happened since 2008. Well, it hasn't in the UK, but it did recently in Japan. And you think you own your money that's in savings? This is— this should really warn you, as soon as you put your money in the bank, that is no longer legally yours. That is legally theirs. Once your money, your savings, your hard-earned savings, once they are in the bank, that's it. And people say to me, ah, but it's guaranteed up to £85,000. Do you think if there's a war or a revolution they're going to rush to pay you all of your money back? The fractional of reserve that they have in reserve Do you think they're gonna hustle to get those $10 for every dollar and those £10 for every pound that they've loaned and invested out into the monetary system? Do you think that they're gonna fight hard and use insurance and pull all of that money in so you can have your money? Wake up, they are not. So savers are losers because you were actually taught wrong at school, taught wrong by your parents, and taught wrong by the system. Now, on a basic economic level, you should know this. Let me just give you a quick test. If inflation is higher than interest rates, what happens to your savings? If inflation is higher than interest rates, your savings go down. Now, here's the thing then. You should say, well, okay, interest rates are going up, but yeah, Interest rates are still not even at 3%, and inflation— well, you tell me what you think inflation is. People are saying, 'Ah, but inflation is 7 or 8 or 9.' No, it's not. I cannot see in any universe how inflation is less than 15%. Tell me that your food and your, um, commodities and your supplies And your expenses and your fuel and your energy and your gas— tell me that's only gone up 8 and 9%. No, it has not. It has gone up way more. So I'm saying really, and I'm playing on the low side here, that inflation is 15% on the low side. Cost of living up since lockdown March 2020 at least your money has gone down 30%. So let me say this to you. If I said to you, give me 100 grand and in 3 years I'll give you 70 grand back, what do you reckon? You'd tell me to fuck off. Well, that's what the banks— that's their deal right now. At least money has gone down 30% in the last 3 years. At least. And you do it willingly when you give all your savings to the bank. Now, Carl has said here the government guarantee £85,000. Carl, I don't want to single you out, but you did say it. I believe that to be somewhat naive. Are there other instances, Carl, when the government have said that they would do something and they haven't? If there is a revolution, a new world order, a Great Reset, if there is some kind of run on the banks, or there's some kind of break in the financial system, or a big recession or depression, Do you think the first thing the government are going to think is, oh shit, I better give Carl his 85 grand back? They don't give a shit about you, Carl. So I do not trust the $85,000 guarantee. I don't. Now look, at the moment we're probably all right, and for most of the cycle you're probably all right. But what about those moments in the cycle towards the— well, if you could call it— how do you get the end of a cycle? But you know, towards the, the end, the big correction, the big depression, whatever's coming. So from a basic level, interest rates have to be higher than inflation for you to make money on your savings. But here's the thing that's wrong. When the interest— let's say the interest rates are 3%, you look at your statement, you're like, wait a minute, I'm only getting 2% of that 3%. So why am I getting all the inflation but not all the interest? So the banks don't pass on all the interest to you. Interest rates are nowhere near inflation, and they won't be forever. And even if interest rates do go really high, they're not going to be there long enough. So right now, and probably since August 1971, cash money has been one of the worst assets. If you go back to 1971 and look at gold, you go back in to 1971 and look at silver, you go back to 1971, look at the stock market, You go back to 1971 and you look at real estate. You go back to 1971 and you look at cash money. Like a freaking vertical slide with Vaseline on it. What? That shit is real. So you know people say, "Ah, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and that isn't fair and it's because of the government and because of the system and because of the greedy evil rich bastards and Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates and the Rothschilds." It's actually not mostly that. It's because the rich know that you go broke and poor with cash money. The rich know that there's only one way to get rich, and it's not with cash money. So let me, um, ask you this: do you know people who don't earn a lot but still manage to save? People who live quite a frugal life and are never in debt? Give me a yes if you know anyone like that? You probably do. So people can live relatively well without earning huge money. Have you ever met anyone like that? Give me a yes in the comments if you have. Let me ask you the opposite question. Professional speaker, have you ever— slow down, I get excited about this. I see all the comments about me shouting in the comments, I get excited. Have you ever met anyone who spends loads of money, loads of money, and earns loads of money? They earn 20 but they spend 25. They earn so much money and yet they're still in debt. They're not actually building wealth, they're just earning money. So you can earn masses and spend more. You can earn not a huge amount and spend less. So money does not make you rich. I need to help you understand this because most people think that money makes you rich. Oh, they've got a lot of money, therefore they're rich. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Money makes you broke because it's pretty much one of the worst investments since 1971 August when fiat currency money came off the gold standard. Cash money's been going worse than pretty much any other asset class. So money makes you poor. Saving makes you poor. Savers are losers. Winners And people who get rich are investors. You have to invest. You need assets. Now, I said at the start there were two small caveats to savings and money. So saving isn't all bad. I mean, of course, um, saving is one, a good way to teach you the discipline of not wasting money. Now, at school, and your parents, and the financial system, they don't technically define what saving is for, and they don't technically define what is good about saving and what is bad. So what is bad about saving is putting it in the bank. What is bad about saving is the low interest and the high inflation. What is bad about saving is that it's one of the worst asset classes. No one tells you that shit. Because they don't want you to know. But what's good for saving is it teaches you the discipline of managing money. So it's obviously good for that because of course it's better than spending. The next thing that saving is good for is to build a pot to then quickly invest. So it teaches you discipline of stopping the spending of money and then builds a pot. And as soon as you've got anything like enough to invest in gold or silver or real estate or a good watch that goes up in value, or to start a business, you need to urgently get it out of cash and get it into an asset. Someone has said in the comments, I love cash. You should love assets more, because here's the thing with cash— goes down in value. Cash does not provide an income stream. Cash is capital money. You get £100 and it's worth £90 in a year, £80 in 2 years. No income stream, if it sits there long enough, it'll be worth virtually nothing in the long run. So you actually shouldn't love cash. You should see cash as a hot potato. I need to get it into an asset that produces income, need to get into an investment that beats inflation and protects my cash and appreciates in value. By the way, there's more to this. I've written a few notes because I think it's important to cover everything. Um, the next reason why savers are losers and cash is trash is because of the trillions of debt that the UK and the American governments are in. So I understand, according to Robert Kiyosaki, he believes the US government are in hundreds of trillions of debt. I don't know, that sounds like a lot. Apparently the UK, according to my business partner, are $2.2 trillion in debt. $2.2 trillion, $10 trillion, whatever trillion. The reality is that is billions, tens of billions, hundreds of billions just in interest payments. And where are the governments and central banks going to get their interest payments from? You. You. So the more debt the government are in, the more they're going to get money from you by charging you interest. And by quantitative easing. So, um, the governments have 3 ways to pay off their debt. One is to actually pay it off. They don't tend to do that. Governments have been in deficit for what seems like an eternity. They're in trillions of debt, so they're clearly not paying it off. And by the way, to pay it off, how do they pay it off? Tax you. So the governments don't pay off their debt, you pay off their debt. So way number 1 they pay off their debt is whack up the tax and stick a needle in your vein. Way number 2 they pay off their debt is they don't, they go bust and they default on it. It's happened, of course, across various nations over time, but it's really bad for a nation, and most governments will put artificial measures in place such as massive quantitative easing to stop them going bust. The 3rd way they can pay off their debt is round the side, through the back door. No one's gonna notice, shh, we'll just print loads more money, and they do what's called quantitative easing. They print a load more money and it devalues the current money in the system. Turn on the money supply, digital and physical money, whack it out in the trillions, reduce the relative value of our debt. They can debase your money at any time. I mean, you know, the Monetary Policy Committee, they control inflation, they control interest rates. So if they want to whack the inflation up or they want to whack interest rates up, they can do what they want. You have no control. No control. So quick summary, hope you found this useful. Let me know if you've got any questions in the comments. Stay wise, stay wily, be streetwise, be awake. So savers are losers, one, because they're kind of a loser in the non-winner sense, but two, because they're just losing money. Um, cash is one of the worst investments. Since 1971 August when we came off the gold standard. Real estate's gone, gold's gone, silver's gone, most metals have probably gone, stock market's gone, cash has gone. Cash money, one of the worst assets and investments. But here's the thing, people don't get it. They think that it's the main investment. They want to invest in cash, they want to put money in savings. That's what you hear the kids say when they're taught at school. Savings should be assets. You need to teach your kid assets, not savings. You need to teach your kid investments, not savings. Remember, savings is good for discipline, and savings is good for building a, a pot for investment only. Inflation is way higher than you're told. It's minimum 15%, so your money's going down minimum 15% a year. So you need Minimum 16% return a year just to be 1% better off. So you've got to look at protecting your money from inflation in assets that beat inflation as a minimum. If assets don't beat inflation, then money is going down. The next thing is the government are in trillions of debt with billions in interest, and that is going to come either from you in the form of tax, you in the form of interest, or you in the form of quantitative easing and devaluing your money. The banks see money as a liability. Even the banks fucking know. Like, when you put your money into the bank, they don't go, 'Oh, we've got lots of savings. Thanks, Wayne. Thanks, Lewis. Thanks, Peter. Oh, we'll keep this money.' No, they're like, 'Shit! Cash money depreciating liability. Lend it out, invest it out. Lend it out, invest it out. Get it off the balance sheet. Get it into assets. Get it into investments. Get it into pensions. Get it into property.' The very things that the rich invest in, the banks invest in. Because the banks know that cash is a liability. They want assets on their balance sheet, assets like I'm telling you to invest in. Money makes you poor. Money makes you broke. Only assets make you rich. So look, if you found this talk interesting, thank you. Thanks for tuning in. Let me know if you've got any questions in the comments, by the way. Um, look, A lot of people have been saying to me, yeah, but interest rates are on the rise, Rob. They are. And they're going to go up further, Rob. They are. Um, that is very short-term. And keeping your money in the bank because you think interest rates might go to 5% is not a strategy for building wealth, believe you me. Because even at 5% interest, even at 10% interest, is still not touching the sides of inflation. So if you sit on your hands and if you do nothing and if you do not act, the longer this goes on, the more this is going to cost you. So the rich take their cash money depreciating liability and they convert it into investments and assets. Investment is something long-term for the future to build capital. Assets is something that produces income. So if you'd like to turn devaluing cash into appreciating assets, money going down into income streams going up, you need to educate yourself on how to do this. And Rob.team, I believe, is the best place. I can see loads of comments, I'll come and engage with them after. So Rob.team is my financial education platform to help you learn what the banks don't teach you, the central banks and their governments don't want you to know. You You're not taught in school because it's not in the syllabus, because otherwise you can't become like a little blood supply for the government. Because here's the thing, you've got this arm and this arm, and the government want to put a needle in this arm and suck out half of your blood your whole life in the form of tax. We'll have 50% tax blood out of you for the rest of your life on this arm, and then in this arm we will lend you money, the cash that you give to us. Here's the thing, They take the cash that you fucking give them and then they lend it back out to you. And they're going to put a needle in the other arm and they're going to take 50% of your blood in interest rates over the rest of your life.
