Shell Oil Profits Soar 300% š¤¬

Shell's profits jumped 300% while BP, TotalEnergies, and Equinor saw similar surges during the cost-of-living crisis. The speaker, normally pro-business, argues these oil majors delivered no extra value beyond price spikes yet keep the windfall gains as citizens struggle with fuel and energy bills.

So Shell oil profits have soared 300%. They are not the only oil petroleum company whose profits are soaring. I'm usually a fan of business, entrepreneurship, and enterprise. I usually celebrate profits for companies and businesses and billionaires that are valuable and useful to society. But to me, this is disgusting. It is disgraceful that Shell Oil and BP and other firms like them can make billions and their profits can triple when the cost of living crisis is as bad as it's been since the war? Do you know that your spending power is the lowest it's been since the end of the Second World War? Yet Shell oil profits have soared 300%. So this is a bit out of character for me to criticize a company for making profits, because I think that usually profits are fair exchange for value created. But Shell and BP, they're not doing anything differently, but their profits are soaring because of the hike in oil and gas prices. And none of that, none of that is being passed to the consumer. And to me, that is fundamentally wrong and disgraceful and disgusting, and something should be done about it. Here's what pisses me off. We, i.e., you and I, are getting taxed through the nose, the eyeballs, the ear holes. We are getting taxed every which way. I did a tax rant. I don't know if you saw it. I argue that 70% of the money that you earn and you spend is taxed, and the taxes are only going to go up. Corp tax going up from 19% to 25%. So these taxes are going up and up and up and up and up. But there's no windfall tax or tax on the massive hike in profits from oil and gas companies who've done nothingā excuse meā nothing to warrant these massive hikes in profits. It's just Ukraine-Russia war and soaring gas and energy prices. It is disgraceful. If you agree with me, please hit the share button because we must, we must publicize this as far and as wide as possible. So let me just let you know the news. Shell oil profits have soared by 300%. Shell made $9.13 billion in the first 3 months of 2022, which was triple of their $3.2 billion profit that they made in the same period last year. Now, if they add triple the value, fair enough. You add triple the value, you deserve triple the profit. I will support you because that's fair, because there has to be fair exchange. This is why I defend many of the billionaires where people think that it's disgraceful how much money they make and how many tax breaks they have. But if that billionaire is providing fair value, then their profits are fair. But Shell and BP are not providing triple the value, yet they're being allowed to have triple the profits. How is that right when most people in this world, their fuel, their food, their gas, their electric, and their heat has gone up so much that they can't afford to live anymore? How the heck Is that right or that fair? And why? Why are the government taxing you and taxing me through every orifice, yet not taxing Shell and BP on these hugely increased gains? How is this right? It is not right. Not right. So Shell made Ā£9.13 billion this quarter. Through what I can see is no extra value other than soaring gas and oil prices. Nearly triple the Ā£3.2 billion they made last first quarter in 2021. BP also announced a sharp rise in profits, and the UK have not taxed it. No, no extra windfall tax on that massive hike in profits. This is all happening when people can't afford to eat, they can't afford to heat their houses, fuel their cars. So many people are struggling. Now, I am not struggling, but business is harder. But people like me and you should speak up about this even if we're not struggling. I am not experiencing the war in Russia and Ukraine, but I'm speaking out about it because we must use our profiles, platforms, and social media for good causes, I believe. Now, Shell chief executive has said that the war in Ukraine had caused significant disruption to global energy markets. I'm sorry, but that's just PR spin. That's just nonsense. So let me say this again, what the Shell chief executive said: the war in Ukraine has caused significant disruption to global energy markets. Duh, of course, state the obvious. And that's just language, spin, PR noise, because that disruption has helped them triple their profits with, in my opinionā and by the way, please let me know what you thinkā in my opinion, no extra fair exchange value. And the Shell chief executive goes on to say, the impacts of this uncertainty and the higher cost that comes with it are being felt far and wide. Yeah, but you're making triple the profits. We have been engaging with governments, our customers, and suppliers to work through the challenging implications and provide support and solutions where we can. So have you taken your triple profits, your 6 extra billion in a quarter, your 24 extra billion in a year, and have you passed those savings on to your customers, Shell? BP, have you taken those billions of increased profits and passed them on to your customers. I don't see that. My, um, my electric bill is going to be Ā£8,000 this year. Okay, BP, TotalEnergies, etc., have reported a sharp increase in underlying profits, um, as have Norway's Equinor, who supply a quarter of the UK's gas. Like I said, let me summarize, and please hit the share button. It's vital we get news like this out there. If you offer 3 times the value, you deserve 3 times the profit. If you are creating useful and meaningful products and services that evolve and make people's lives easier, faster, and better, you deserve more profit. And anyone who criticizes billionaires or big companies when they do that, I will defend. But if you get triple the profits based on a war and a crisis and a shortage in the world and you offer no extra value, That's fricking theft. And look, do you know what? I should probably restate this. I'm going to restate this. I cannot blame Shell or BP or any other energy provider for tripling their profits or having their profits tripled just by virtue of doing what they do. I would accept that. But they should be passing that saving on to their customer. They should be going over and above to support their customers through these difficult times. And just because they offer something that we need They have the power. If they had something we wanted but didn't need, they would have to pass these savings to us. So, but the governments need to step in here. Here's the thing that frustrates me with the government: when they don't intervene, they should, and when they shouldn't intervene, they do. So they should be intervening with full taxes, and they should be making it a legal requirement for many of these extra profits to be passed on to the consumer. Stop taxing people who haven't got much money, like the working and the middle class. They're the ones affected the worst by taxation, and the government are hiking the taxes up and up and up and up and up on the working class and the middle class, yet Shell and BP are having it away. I can't even blame them, other than they should be passing on the savings to the customers. So let me know what you think in the comments. What's really going on behind the scenes here, by the way? Quick summary: Shell Oil have announced quarterly profits that are 300% up on the quarter last year. They made $9.13 billion in the first 3 months of 2022 compared to $3.2 billion in the same period. That I don't believe they have tripled their value, and therefore that seems really wrong when most of the world is struggling with the soaring cost of living. Seems completely wrong. And then the chief executive, who I'm going to reach out to interview for the podcast, who will probably decline, just came out with a load of spin nonsense. Significant disruption to global energy markets. The impacts of this uncertainty and the higher cost that comes with it are being felt far and wide. We have been engaging with governments, our customers, and suppliers to work through the challenging implications and provide support and solutions where we can. That's 3 paragraphs of absolute fricking nothingness. He said nothing. What about those triple profits, how you're reinvesting them back in to support your consumers through these difficult times? Let's have a statement on that. And I can't even blame them. Government, stop taxing the ordinary person, stop taxing the entrepreneur and the business owner, and start taxing these energy companies who are making outrageous profits when everyone else is struggling. It's wrong. It's freaking wrong. Let me know what you think in the comments. Please, it's really important that you hit the share button. We must speak out on stuff like this. How can oil and gas and energy companies' profits triple When there's a massive, massive, massive shortage and crisis going on in the world, and most people, uh, can't even afford to live. How can this be? It's wrong. Hit the share button. Thanks for tuning in, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
