Should you trust your partner with money? 🤔

Rob Moore shares data showing 40% of people lie to partners about money, and argues that while trust matters, you need verification. People spend others' money more freely, so protect your finances independently and build multiple income streams.

Should you trust your partner with money? Now, the statistics on this I find quite surprising. Do you know that 2 in 5 people lie to their partner about money, about how they spend money, where they spend money, and what money they've spent? Uh, this is another interesting statistic is About 39% of women lie to their partner about money, but 46% of men lie to their partner about money. Now, I'm naturally quite a trusting person, and that can make me quite naive. And in the past, I have opened myself up to being screwed over. I've been screwed over generally. I've been screwed over for money. Thankfully not wildly, but certainly enough times to not want to be screwed over again. And when I look back at when I got screwed over, honestly, I was too trusting and too naive. And going back, I could have and should have seen the signs. So I'm going to ask you the question, then I'm going to answer it. Do you think that you should trust your partner with money, with your money. Philip has said there you should be able to. Reggie Mantassa said no trust. I think this is an important question to discuss. Now, like I said, I'm naturally a naive person. I don't know if you're naturally trusting or naturally skeptical. Again, let me know in the comments. Are you naturally trusting or naturally skeptical? Ross has said, I can trust my wife to spend it. Alexandria said, never trust, um, anyone or your partner with money. So interesting to get your views. Now, because I'm naturally trusting and therefore somewhat naive, I open myself up to being screwed. And people that I know are naturally quite skeptical would say to me that I could have avoided it, and they would say to me, no, Do not trust anyone with your money. Do not trust your partner unless you are prepared to lose it. So if you don't want to ever get screwed over by money, the reality is you cannot trust anyone about your money and with your money as much as you. Jo— Johnny has just said there, or Joni, my ex was terrible with money, leading us to bankruptcy. I know some people have got partners with addictions like gambling, etc. Of course, you think you know your partner until you get divorced, and then did— do you really know your partner? So yeah, for sure, this is an important question, which is why I'm doing the live on this. And whilst this isn't necessarily the nicest, warmest, fluffiest, um, video I've done, I'm just going to say it because I think it's important to you. If you want to stop and avoid and make sure you don't get screwed over, not, not just don't trust your partner with money, don't trust anyone with your money. Invest it wisely, manage it wisely, budget it wisely. Sure, you can trust, but check. I remember 16 years ago being taught by an entrepreneur, trust but verify. So be trusting but check. Now here's the thing: people will spend your money much more freely, frivolously, and easily than they will their own. Fact. People will spend money on what's important to them, and if what's important to them isn't important to you, your money is going to go downward fast. By the way, people will die to protect what's most important to them, and they will die spending your money on what's most important to them. So don't just blindly trust people. You're opening yourself up to get screwed over. You worked hard for your money. You— the thing is, sometimes you can say, oh well, someone screwed me over for money and they broke the trust, but if you trust them too soon and made it too easy for them You could argue that maybe you set up that process, so you take personal responsibility. Don't trust anyone with your money but you. And if you trust them, still check. Budget properly, manage your money, make sure you control your investments, and then you won't get screwed over. And I'm sorry if you think that's a bit skeptical, but the reality stands. No one, no one cares about your money as much as you fucked. Because here's the thing: 2 in 5 people lie to their— lie to their partner about money. 46% of men lied to their partner about money, and 39% of women lied to their partner about money. I'm a naturally trusting person. I'm naive. I've been screwed over, uh, and, and now I've had to learn to be more skeptical and learn not to automatically trust. And sometimes when you trust, it's actually you're just lazy to not do the diligence and the research and the checks that are required. So, um, I would say, and Don't trust anyone, or at least don't let anyone else be responsible for your money. The government aren't responsible, the HMRC, Inland Revenue, aren't responsible. Your partner, your husband, or your wife aren't responsible. Your employer isn't responsible. You, only you, are responsible for your finances and money. And if you make money, that's your fault, and if you lose money, that's your fault. Trust no one but yourself, or trust but verify. And I believe that will hold you in good stead. Instead. So sorry if it's a bit skeptical, but I help— I want to— I care about you, I want to help you, but you need to help yourself. And joining rob.team will help you do that because it's an educational, informative resource. Do you know you'll spend 50 grand a year at a college or university being taught by mentors in the form of tutors who teach business, finance, and economics who are broke? Go figure. But you can learn from me, who's made hundreds of millions, for the cost of a large coffee. And you can cancel any time because my vision, my personal vision, is to help as many people on this planet get better financial education and knowledge. And I want to help you, but you've got to help yourself by going and joining rob.team. So type in, in a new page in the internet right now, r-o-b dot t-e-a-m. I'll see you there. Go do it now. Tomorrow never comes. Do it now, because when all is said and done, more is said than done. To know and not to do is not to know. And there's no risk because there's hundreds of hours of content and you're going to pay one cup of coffee to go and check it all out. And you can even cancel and consume it all. So see you in rob.team. Also, I wonder if you wouldn't mind hitting the share button, because it's important to me to get as much financial education knowledge as I can. Out to as many people as I can because that's my personal vision and mission. I don't think education on money is taught enough in schools at all. I don't think it's taught enough at colleges. I don't think it's taught enough generally in the world. And I think certainly in many countries like the UK, we have a terrible association with money, and I'm on a mission to change that. So if you hit the share button, I'll be very grateful to you. And if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. So tiny little risk to join rob.team. Large coffee is all that you're risking. But sometimes it's a risk not to do something. It was a risk for me not to start my own business. It was a risk for me not to invest in assets. It was a risk for me not to build a property portfolio, not to be a creator. So I would say it's probably a risk for you not to join Rob.team, because 2 in 5 people lie to their partner about money. 46% of men, 39% of women. So you could argue statistically you probably shouldn't trust your partner, and if you do trust, check. People spend money on what's important to them, not what's important to you. And if what's important to them is not what's more— not important to you, they're going to spend money on shit you don't want them to spend it on, and there's going to be conflict in that relationship, whether it's a business partnership or a life partnership. So, you know, I got your back. Hit the share button, go and join Rob.team, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
