Sick Notes ‘Banned’ in UK

Rob Moore argues Rishi Sunak's plan to stop GPs issuing sick notes is overdue, calling them "free coffee awards" handed to people avoiding work. He claims most mental health claims are excuses and proposes exercise prescriptions and community work instead.

Sick notes banned. Warning to all you lazy bastards who can't be bothered to work, you could have your ability to get sick notes from your GP banned. I can't believe I'm saying this, like I really can't. I need to pinch myself, but I think for the first time in 5 years I agree I think I agree with the Prime Minister. Although, what have we had, about 4 Prime Ministers in that time? But I think I agree with the Prime Minister. Can you even believe I'm saying this? So a quick update is that the UK Prime Minister has proposed plans to ban GPs from giving sick notes. First thing I'd like to know is, what are your thoughts on this? By the way, if you are of nervous disposition or get triggered easily, you might want to turn this live off because you're not going to like what I'm going to say on this. So here's something that fascinated me, and I may have misread it, but there's— GPs are reacting to the plan to have their ability to issue sick notes taken away from them. And I read that some GPs are calling them fit notes. Is that, is that right, or is that just a typo on the BBC website? How can a sick note be a fit note? Anyway, so personally, I think it's far too easy for anyone to go to a doctor and say, I'm having suicidal thoughts, I've got bad mental health issues. And I think that they're just chucking out sick notes like, you know, coffee or coffee awards when you get your coffee and you get your free bean. And a huge part of the problem, I believe, in the UK is the woke left lazy entitled attitude, the undesire to work and be useful and valuable, the economic penalties for being entrepreneurial and making money, and the economic rewards for being lazy entitled, the ease of gaming the welfare system. I think it's all completely and utterly, well, corrupt probably, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt and let's just call it broken. And so when I read in the last 24 hours that Rishi, the UK Prime Minister, is looking to remove a GP's power to write a sick note. I initially thought this is pretty freaking good. Let me know what you think about that in the comments, because it's far too easy to get a sick note. It's far too easy to strike yourself— I mean, you can strike yourself off. Oh, I don't fancy going to work today. I think I'll strike myself off with mental health issues for a month or a year. I think I'll self-diagnose that I have depression. Now, this needs to change because let me ask you this before people get triggered and pissed off with me. Do people on benefits actually want to be on benefits? Like, do people who have self-diagnosed with mental health issues actually want that, or do they want to be happy? Do people on benefits want to actually be useful and valuable and if the work were good and the work paid well, would they rather work or be on benefits? I actually think most of them would rather work and be useful and valuable and have good self-worth. You don't get— no one is proud to be on benefits unless their pride is in gaming the useless system. And by the way, I know this because I walk around the high street in my local city and I speak to people on the streets and they say there's no point getting a job because you paid more to be on benefits. And I've hacked the system. But when you drill down and ask them, does it make them feel proud, and do they have good self-worth around, um, being on benefits? Of course none of them do. So I initially thought, this is really good, bam, the sick note. But you know what they're going to do? They're going to put another level of consultants above the GPs and the consultants are the ones that are going to issue the sick notes. And this is what they did in the NHS. In the NHS, they put a load of consultants above all the actual practitioners who've never actually been properly in healthcare. And all it is is a load of people paid by the old boys' network on really high salaries to push paper around and pay the private— the public sector and make it all more bloated and full of friction. And actually nothing fucking change. And actually what we need in the system is people who want change, because no one fucking cares anymore. Who in the NHS actually cares about people's health? Who in the government actually care about making the country better? None of them fucking care. This is the problem. One of the reasons why big corporations, you know, just pervading a lot of the problems in the world. It's because all they care about is profit. They don't care about their people. At times I will not make huge profits, but my staff will be rewarded and I care about them. And I think no one cares about doing good work anymore, really. Well, most people don't. Is anyone in the police, do they really care? Does the Mayor of London really care? No, none of them fucking do. And this is the problem. Does the Prime Minister really care? Now, if I were to ask what one thing is going to make a difference to turn this country around, to make it a great empire again, to make it Great Britain, not shite Britain, is to actually give a fuck, to actually care. That's what needs to change, like fundamentally, you know, economic policy, economic system, central bank system. Like, if we cared about each other, everything would cascade down and change from there. And so, you know, I get a lot of criticism even from people close to me about some of my opinions, but people who are on welfare, the ones that actually care about them are the ones that help them get a job and help them skill up. And here's the paradox. Right now, we need a lot of practical work. You know, we need trades. And these people who are on benefits, not obviously the people genuinely disabled and genuinely injured, they should get help and support. And that's— I want to pay taxes to help people who are genuinely not able to work. But my taxes are mostly going on people who are taking the piss out of the system. But the system can't be taken the piss out of if the system cared. So instead of just chucking out dull money and welfare all the time and giving away sick notes like they're bloody rewards for your coffee purchase, why don't we care about getting people off the streets? Why don't we care about skilling them up? Why don't we care about giving them work? Why don't we coach them and mentor them and educate them? Because imagine if the millions of people on benefits and welfare, imagine if three-quarters of them, all of a sudden their benefits were taken away, but they were put on work enterprise schemes. You know, they were given training and support and mentoring to do meaningful jobs. What about that? Why is no one doing this? What is wrong with our state and our nation? Surely this is just common sense. Anyway, breaking news is that Rishi is making plans— the UK Prime Minister are making plans to strip GPs of the ability to issue sick notes. And when I first saw that, I thought, bloody hell, hallelujah! First time in 5 years I actually agree with the UK Prime Minister. But then when I saw his new plan to hire in a load of consultants to go above them and put a level of middle management in and they make the decisions, I bet you if you look at who all those middle management are, they'll end up being the old boys' network, chosen and employed by them, and they'll be taking massive six-figure salaries. And I bet, I bet you they'll just end up doing the same. Why aren't we issuing walking, daily walking? Instead of writing a sick note for a month, why don't you get people out walking? Why don't you have people out walking and litter picking? Instead of putting people in prison, why don't we have them litter picking? Why don't we get people out exercising? Why don't we issue a prescription for exercise? What the fuck is wrong with the country? Anyway, rant over. Let me know what you think in the comments. Oh, by the way, I wonder if you wouldn't mind sharing this, because when I talk about stuff like this, look at the numbers on my life. I've got 387,000 followers. Look at the numbers on my life. The social media and the big corp, they just want to silence all of this stuff. You talk about pharmaceuticals anywhere, you just get cancelled or deplatformed. I'm not going to shut up about it. It's important. Let me know what you think in the comments. By the way, if you agree with me or you think I make some good points, please share this. If you don't agree with me, let me know in the comments why. Let's create a dialogue on it. I'll tell you what, I will not silence you if you disagree with me. I will discuss and engage with you. Maybe you can teach me some stuff. I'm sure you can. Let me know what you think in the comments. Also, if you're pissed off with the system, If you think we need entrepreneurs and people with real knowledge of money running the banks and the governments, if you want to start and scale a business without paying 70% of everything you earn and everything you spend in tax, I recommend you educate yourself because the system is going to educate you to be a pawn of the system. And to educate yourself, I think the best way to start is to join Rob.team. Rob.team is my digital financial freedom platform. You know, every day I see news and it just makes me more and more sad and frustrated about the government and the UK and the state of it and how it's all fucked and how I think it's corrupt from the inside out. Or at the very least, we've got people who don't know what they're doing. And, you know, you get— you see, you get all this spin. Like, I'm thinking, great, issue less sick notes. Why don't we issue walking, exercise, friendships, you know, joining communities? These are all proven, proven to help you live longer and remove depression, and yet we just write them prescriptions or give them sick notes. What happened in lockdown? Where was the massive propaganda campaign for walking? Oh no, you couldn't walk. Because you were locked down.
