Subscription & Recurring Income (7 Steps to Set up)

Rob Moore breaks down setting up a subscription business in seven steps: pick Patreon or Kajabi, define your niche, publish one premium piece weekly plus monthly AMAs and masterclasses, price at minimum $10 per month, and use content-bridge offers across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn to drive three new subscribers daily, which nets roughly $11,100 monthly.

How to generate subscription-based recurring income. So whether it's $1,000 a month or $11,000 a month, I think there's one way that's quicker, less capital outlay, and easier way to generate income to start and scale a business. Now, I'm not into get rich quick, I'm into get rich real. I'm I'm not into get rich quick, I'm into get rich long. However, the world has changed because of social media and the speed of communication through the internet, and subscription-based revenue models are actually taking over now. So all of our food comes packed every day. I think we have HelloFresh. It gets delivered every day and it's in a, um, a casing to keep it cold, and that's on a subscription model. You can now drive Volvo cars on a subscription. You don't have to buy the car. You literally can have a Volvo on subscription, and other car manufacturers are following this. Of course, you have many direct debits, and of course, we all watch Netflix. I'm actually interviewing the founder of Netflix for my recurring income summit coming up in a couple of weeks' time. So subscription model as a producer, I— if you're producing it, is a big, big deal. Now, of course, OnlyFans has got really popular, you know, in, in that space, and Patreon is massive for podcasters and YouTubers, etc. So you need to listen up and listen good and stay with me here because I'm going to do a mini masterclass for you on how to generate your own subscription-based model and how to create recurring income from subscriptions. Anyone can do this. 6 steps, 7 points. That's what I'm going to share with you right now. So step 1 is you need to know what platform to set up on. Step 2 is you need to know what content you're going to share. Step 3 is you need to know how much content to do and what's different from your other platforms. Step 4 is how much you're going to charge. Step 5 is you've got to make it really easy to join. Step 6 is then how do you grow your platform. And then step 7 will be the maths behind it. You know, how can you generate up to $1,000 a month or $11,000 a month or more? And now what I'm going to do is detail those 7 steps for you. Okay, so I believe there are— there's 4 main subscription platforms, but I would only focus on 2 of them. So the 4 main ones are probably Facebook Supporters, OnlyFans, Kajabi, and Patreon. Now OnlyFans, unless you've got beautiful butt cheeks and you're prepared to get your kit off, maybe we'll park that one. Facebook supporters is a really good subscription-based model. I have 3,300 members, but only if you're prolific on Facebook and you have a good following and you do lots of lives already. So let's assume you don't. Let's park that one. So we're left with Patreon and Kajabi. And Patreon and Kajabi are good for everyone and very easy to use, and they are white label platforms, which means you can go on, upload an image, put your details in, and it's there and ready off the shelf. You don't have to build it or code it yourself. It's very simple to use. Now, you'd use Kajabi if you want to build online training courses, modules that you know, get released every week and time delayed, and you wanted to build a bit of a community and build a proper, I guess, events-based business model. Um, and could— and Patreon is more for you if you just want to create content as an individual content creator, um, and you wanted it to be sort of fairly simple and you wanted to do maybe lives or pre-records and add some other benefits in and just chuck them on an online platform. So I'd either go with Kajabi or Patreon based on one of those two. Now, by when I finish this piece of content, you could literally go and set up on Kajabi and Patreon. Now, Kajabi might charge you a monthly fee, but it'll be small. Patreon, I believe, take 12% of your revenue and might not even charge you an upfront fee. So literally, after this masterclass I'm doing for you right now, you could go and set that up. Job done. So are you going to? That's the question. Okay, step 2, um, is what should your information be? So it could be your passion turned into your profession, it could be your existing professional business or brand, it could be something you're inspired to share, a hobby, something that you're skilled at and you've got experience in. So I have a platform called Rob.team, and my Rob.team platform is for start and scale-up entrepreneurs. It's for people who want to build their brand on social media. Is for people who want to learn about making more money. So that's my niche, and that's one of also my passions as well as my professions. So you just got to think, where are you going to start? Is it going to be business-related, passion or hobby-related? But believe you me, there's a niche in pretty much anything. There's a very big podcast about garden gnomes. So don't think that your niche is not a niche that could become a subscription-based platform. Okay, so now that you've decided that, we move on to step 3, which is you've got to create some content. So I think the optimum amount of content is one unique piece a week and then about 2 other pieces a month. So the unique piece a week would be premium content that they can't get on any other platform, where you don't do on your Facebook Lives or your TikTok Lives or your Clubhouse rooms. So we call it premium. Could be behind the scenes, could be just content you might used to do for free but now you offer on the, um, subscription platform. You could do more how-to-based content. You could do your stories, your case studies, your rants, your opinions on your free socials, and then behind your paywall on your subscription, you could do the how-to content. The more practical, tactical content. That'd be a good way to differentiate your free from your paid. So you're going to do that once a week, and then what you're going to do is once a month or maybe twice a month, you're going to do an Ask Me Anything Live or a Q&A. Now, I used to do Q&As very regularly on Facebook, but then when Facebook gave me the Supporter Program and I had a subscription model, I just decided to stop doing Ask Me Anything Lives on Facebook for free because I don't have to. And I just moved them to my Facebook supporter program, and now I have 3,300 people a month. It's actually 3,350, I think. And they get to see— ask me questions live every couple of weeks. I still do live content on Facebook and TikTok and Instagram. It's just not Q&A style. You can't get sort of as close to me. So if you do a Q&A and people can get a bit closer to you, that gives them a reason to pay the $5 or $10 or whatever you're going to charge a month. And then once a month, do a masterclass. So my friend John Lee does JL.Club masterclasses once a month, and he brings in special guest experts, and this is only for his members. So once a month, you might do a special little course or mini masterclass only for your subscribers. That is only 6 pieces of content a month. People are saying to me, I haven't got time, I'm so fucking busy, yet they're scrolling on social media for 3 hours a day or having debates, discussions, and arguments with people. Loads of fuckery and not actually focusing on what makes money. 6 pieces of content a month will take you 30 minutes, um, once a week. That's 2 hours. Your masterclass might be 2 hours, that's 4 hours. And your Q&A, ask me anything, might be an hour. That's 5 hours of content a month. It's not a lot. And when you see the maths, and I do the numbers, by the way, you'll be like, yeah, I'm gonna fucking focus on this. Actually, do you know what? I'm going to jump to the numbers now. So if you're looking on my Instagram stories, I've done number 1, set up a platform, Patreon or Kajabi. I've done number 2, what your information should be, your niche, your passion, your profession, your business. Then I've done how much content, which was number 3, 1 to 2 unique pieces a week plus your AMA, ask me anything, plus your masterclass. I'm actually going to jump down now to what you should charge. So I probably did this wrong. I've had my supporter program for 3 years maybe, and I thought, you know what, I'm going to be generous, I'm going to charge the least. I want maximum growth. I wanted as many people across the world to be able to gain access to my content. I'd already made my millions 10 years plus ago. I'm 42 now, became a millionaire by age 31, so it wasn't like I needed the money. So the difference between $5 and $10, $15, I thought I'll just go on the lowest side and get the maximum number. I shouldn't have done that. I should not have done that. Why? Because anyone who's worth it is going to pay $10. If someone's like, I'm not paying fucking $10 for 6 premium pieces of content a month, that's a rip-off, I can get everything free on Google, well then I don't want them on my subscription program taking up bandwidth. You can fuck off. So literally, it's not worth it for anything under $10. It really isn't. And I shouldn't have charged $3.50. No, actually, it's $5. I charged £3.50. No, it's £5. Let's call it £5, whatever. But it's cheap. And sometimes you get someone who pays £5, they want to go on your missus, they want to nick your Lamborghini, and they want everything for that. And then if they don't get it, they want to cancel, and then they're going to troll you online. Because sometimes when you pay a little, you get the cheap ones. So don't charge anything less than $10. You don't need to. $10 is the perfect no-brainer fee. So that's number 4, what you should charge. Now, as you grow your subscription platform, what you can do is you can have multiple levels. So you can have $10 level, $50 level, $100 level, and $500 level. I'm actually about to launch probably a £30 level, and then I'm going to launch maybe a £100 level. I won't tell you about those, I'll keep it a surprise. But I've got some ideas of what could be on my, um, £30 level already. Now instead of launching and saying, hey, come and join my subscription platform, we've got the £10 level, the £30 level, the £100 level, the £500 level, I decided to launch it one level only and then over time add levels so that it was clear and linear. Now one thing I did wrong— so I'm actually giving you some of the mistakes I made as well as what worked. So I charge too little. It's— you get the best, all of you get the benefit of that, by the way, um, of me charging too little because it's virtually nothing to join. Um, but I definitely did that wrong. And the next thing I did wrong was I put too much in it. So I do Ask Me Anything Lives, I do weekly content, I do masterclasses, I do premium content, I do special events, I do premium ticket upgrades, I do dinners, um, I do gaining access to me in a WhatsApp group. I gave loads of benefits. Because again, I wanted to have masses of members. Um, so I probably should have given less. The masterclass is the Ask Me Anything Lives. They could go in the $20 or the £30 level. So just start with those 6 pieces I shared with you, and then when you get an idea, oh, I know what I could do, and add— then instead of adding more into the existing level, you create a higher level and a higher level, and you add them into the higher level, which again is not what I did because Facebook— I don't— did Facebook give us multi-level option? I'm not sure. But on Patreon or Kajabi, you can have multi-level option. Okay, so charge $10 a month and no less. All right, number 5 is you got to make it really easy to join. Um, so if you're just joining, by the way, I'm doing, um, how to generate subscription-based recurring income, uh, a one single model But I'm doing a deep dive masterclass and actually I'm going to show you how it's not that difficult to get $11,100 a month. Make sure you're following me, by the way, whatever channel you're watching me or listening to me on, make sure you follow me. I do content like this daily. Number 1 is the platform to set up on, Patreon or Kajabi. Number 2 is your information, either your passion, your brand, or your business, your hobby, or your existing, um, enterprise that you do becomes your content. You make sure it's a niche. Number 3, 1 piece of content a week plus an Ask Me Anything live plus a masterclass. 6 pieces of content a month, that's all you need. Number 4, charge minimum $10 a month and then go up to $30, $50, $100, $500 as you add more levels. So number 5, making it easy to join. So you need a nice simple page to join. So my page is actually rob.team. By all means, check it out. But by all means join, it's only £5 a month, so I'm literally as, as low as you could be. I told you why. Facebook won't let me increase the fees. I should have done. So what I did is I built my own platform, but then I couldn't charge more. So if you have a look at rob.team, just open up the URL and go on rob.team, you can see there a simple landing page. It's not fancy, it's not a big long sales page. It's got a headline, it's got a few bullets It's got how to join, it's got the masterclasses at the bottom, and that's it. So you want to make it nice and simple by having a nice, clean, simple landing page. Like I said, mine's at rob.team if you want to check it out. And then you need to have a nice simple URL. So mine is rob.team, whereas if I said go to robmoore.com/signuptomymuckingsubscriptionplatformnow, goddamn, it's too long. So people have these long URLs, they're trying to type them in, they can't type it in. What's that again? The link doesn't work. Say it again. So mine is just Rob, R-O-B, dot team, T-E-A-M. So it's nice, simple, clean landing page, super clear and easy to join, and then a short URL that's easy to say and easy to write. So for example, I'm here on Facebook Live. I can now just go in while I'm talking to you right now and I could just write in there Rob.team. Just done that right now, nice and easy. If it was really long, I wouldn't be able to do that. I could go and do the same on TikTok if I wanted to, but I'm going to crack on. Okay, right, so that's number 5, making it easy to join. Number 6, how did— no, actually, I'll tell you what, I'll go number 7, then number 6. Number 7 is, how do you get, um, $11,100 a month? So not just $1,000 a month, but $11,100 a month. Now that sounds like a lot of money, but get this, If you charge $10, which is your minimum that you should charge, and you get just 3 new members a day and you don't get any unsubscribes, then in 1 year you make $11,100 per month. $11,100 per month with just 3 new members a day. Now let me know in the comments or in the back channel, could you get 3 new members a day? Give me a yes or a no. Could you get 3 new members a day? I'm telling you, you could. In fact, I'm going to show you how now. So that leads me to my last point in this mini, uh, course on building a subscription-based recurring income. So the way to get 3 or 5 or 10 new members a day is to do what I call content bridge offer and do one live and one pre-recorded version. So let me say that again. You're going to do a format of content called content bridge offer, and you're going to do it once live and once pre-recorded. And now I'm going to do a demonstration for you. Now, by the way, this demonstration is also live, so if you decide that you'd like to join Rob.team, it's live on the page and you can. But what I'm going to do is a demo. Now, there's two things I need to tell you about getting your 3 or 5 or more members a day. Number, number one is how to deliver a content bridge offer, and number two is where do you share that content bridge offer. So first, let's do where you share it. And then let me do a live demo of actually how you do the content. So you could do a Clubhouse room like I am now. There are 356 people in this Clubhouse room. I could do my content bridge, an offer into my subscription platform. I might get 50 members from one Clubhouse room. I could then go live on Facebook and I could do my content bridge offer, uh, and I've got a few less people but still a good number. I might get 10 new members. I could go live on TikTok and I could do my content bridge offer, and I might get 3 or 5 new members. And then I could go live on Instagram, and then I could go live on YouTube, and then I could go live on LinkedIn. Now, if I didn't want to do all those lives because I haven't got time to do all those lives, what you could do is go live on one channel, let's say TikTok, and then you take the recording and then you put that on your Reels You put it on LinkedIn, you put it on Facebook, you put it on YouTube, you record the audio and you put it on your podcast, and all of a sudden you've turned 1 or 2 content bridge offers into essentially 7 or 8 different pieces of content. Now, if you've got just 1 new member at $10 a month from each platform, that's 7 to 8 new members a day. Now, 8 new members a day in a year ends up at about $30,000 a month. $30,000 a month. Now, what you could do to get your 8 members instead of your 3: go live on TikTok, have your audio turned on for your podcast, and then when you finish the live on TikTok, some people will go to your, your subscription platform. And then you've got the recording for your podcast, so some people will go from your podcast. And then you take the recording of the TikTok and you put it on Instagram and Facebook and YouTube and LinkedIn, etc. And so one piece of content became 7, and one subscriber a day became 7. And you do that once a day. And by the way, a content bridge offer could be 10 minutes, could be 5 minutes, could be 30 minutes. I'm actually going to show you a demo. This is going to be a content bridge offer. You'll see the model live in action. You do that once per day for between 5 and 30 minutes depending on the platform, and you're making 30 grand. Tell me any way else to make 30 grand a month like that. And anyone can do this. And sometimes people say, oh, but Rob, I've only got like 50 followers on social media. Yeah, and I've only given you the expectation that you'll get one sign-up. So if you have more followers, you might get more sign-ups. So you go live and then you repurpose the content on multi-platforms, right? So here now is the demonstration. So I'm going to demonstrate, and I'm going to do it quicker, I'm going to do it in about 3 or 4 minutes, what content bridge offer is. So breaking it down, content is the information you're sharing, bridge is the link from content, and offer is the pitch for your subscription platform. Now if I just went, hi, it's Rob Moore, buy my shit. Oi, you Britta, buy my shit. Oi, Charms. Oi, Grinch Mom, buy my shit. Buy my subscription shit. And if you haven't gone and bought my subscription shit, go and buy my subscription shit. If you just pitched hard all the time, people are gonna be like, oh, bored, seen enough of that. Which is why you do content bridge offer, because you go live, people are, okay, Rob's sharing content, great, and then I'll gently bridge into the offer. And what I can do is I can change the content every day. So I could do how to build subscription income one day. I could have to do how to make your first $1,000 a month one day. I could do how to hack virality another day. I could do how to build multiple streams another day, do a different piece of content, and then just bridge it into the same offer, the same offer, the same offer, the same offer. So here we go. I'm going to do a short version. Are you ready? Now there's two things going on here. One, this is a demo because I want to make sure that you get actual practical tactics. But two, it's going to be a live offer. I.e., you can go and join rob.team should you choose. I definitely recommend if you want to make $1,000 or $11,000 a month, you join mine and you model my subscription platform. So here we go. Let's just get myself ready. Imagine I've hit record. 3, 2, 1. Hi, it's Rob Moore here. I'm going to share with you 7 ways to generate subscription-based recurring income. And I'm going to show you how at just 3 new members a day, you can get £11,100 a month. Here are the 7 simple steps. Number 1, you need to know which platform you're on. There's 4 main ones, but 2 that most of us use. Number 2 is you need to turn your passion into your content or your business model or a niche into your content. It needs to be a niche for your subscription platform. Number 3 is you do one unique piece of content a week. You do one Ask Me Anything a month and one masterclass a month. That's— you only need 6 pieces of content. Number 4 is don't charge any less than $10 because it's just a cheap amount of money, and anyone who's going to think that that's too expensive is not worth having. But you can also do multiple levels later. Number 5 is you've got to make it easy to join, so a short URL and mine is rob.team, and a nice clean tidy landing page which you can see at rob team. Number 6 is, how do you get your 3 members a day to get your £11,000 a month? Well, what you do is you go live on TikTok, do a 5-minute content bridge offer, live on Facebook, live on Clubhouse, just 1 member from each of them a day. You do that every day, 15 minutes a day, and you're £11,100 per month. So if you would like to join a subscription platform and copy it Now, don't copy me word for word, but go and join my subscription platform right now at rob.team, and you can model how I've built a subscription platform with 3,350 members. And that's just on Facebook. By the way, my Facebook support is sold out. So when you go to rob.team, go there right now, rob.team, scroll about halfway down, click the right-hand button, not the left. So you're going to join on my Rob.team platform. That has another 1,000-odd members, so you add those together, I've got pushing 5,000 members. Now, why would you join my Rob.team platform? And the link is just rob.team. You would join, one, because you get Ask Me Anything Lives every 2 weeks with me, your only chance to actually ask me questions live. Number 2 is you get deep dive masterclasses once a month. I've got, um, how to launch and scale your business through webinars. I've actually got my, um, 7-Figure Subscription Secrets membership course, which I'm actually offering first to my supporters, my subscribers. Um, I've done about 12 masterclasses. My 6-Stage 7-Figure Launch Model I've done. I've done my Clubhouse masterclass course on monetizing Clubhouse. I've made £650,000 on Clubhouse. So all these masterclasses you get free in my subscription, um, just at £5 a month. That's like what, 1.5 coffees. So if you go to rob.team and join there with the button halfway down on the right, you're actually going to get all of this for just a few pounds a month. Also, every, what, 4 times a year we meet up, and I've got a special 1-day event called Mindset and Money. Now I've got someone who's worth £100 million and someone who's worth £700 million who are coming to keynote speak, and you actually get free access to that special event coming up in 1 month. By joining Rob.team. I've also got a 10x your social media following challenge in December. You get that free by joining Rob.team. And then also I have a quarterly make cash challenge, which you can also get joining Rob.team. So go right now to Rob.team, join up, and I'll see you there. Okay, so end. So that was a live demo of the content, which was the 7 steps of setting up, setting up a subscription platform. And then I bridged it into the offer of Rob.team. And, and the bridge I used in this instance was, if you'd like to build your own subscription platform, go and join mine and model it. Because you might be like, I don't know what platform to use. I don't know how much content to do. I don't know what it should look like. I don't really know what content I should offer. And you can go and use mine as a model. But that being said, I thoroughly recommend now, and I'm saying this not as a demo, that you join Rob.team. Now on Rob.team, like I said, I've just launched a brand new 10x your social media following challenge. It's happening in a few weeks and it's only for Rob.team members. So if you go now and join Rob.team, because I've got to go in a minute, you can actually get free access to this 5-day 10x your social media following challenge. It won't— no one else will be able to get it other than my Rob.team members. In January, I'll do a 5-day make cash challenge only for Rob.team members. Um, I've also got, um, about 12 masterclasses that are already done. So I don't know if you want to grow your business or your brand, but if you do, then, um, studying my 6-stage 7-figure launch model, which was a 3.5-hour masterclass which I charged people for, and I put onto Rob.team, you can grab that there. There's loads of other benefits. I don't want to list them all now. I think it's a bit over the top. It's It's only, what, £5 a month, or is it $5? It's not much. But what you will gain is access to a community of thousands of people, lots of premium content that's, you know, at a higher quality and a level than the free stuff that you can get. So just simply go right now to rob.team by opening a browser and just typing in rob.team, and you can join there. Now I've just shared with you 7 ways to generate subscription-based recurring income. Number 1 was what platform to set up on. Number 2, what content to create. Number 3, how many bits of content you need. Number 4, what to charge. Number 5, make it easy to join. Number 6, how often you need to offer it to then gain, um, $11,100 a month. And the way that you do that is just 3 new members a day. And if you want to make it really easy for yourself, just go and join rob.team and model what I do. So let's say, for example, you're in gardening. You'd go and join rob.team and you'd work out, okay, Rob does these masterclasses, he does these lives, he does these Zooms, these Q&As. I'm going to do all of that, but in my gardening niche. Someone has just asked, what's the website? It's rob.team. R-O-B .com. Someone else has just said, just tell us already. I have already. It's rob.com. Now, how many businesses could you start? And let's say 3 a day is what you're going to get. Within 4 and a half weeks, not even, you're going to have over 1,000 a month. Within a year of just 3 new members a day, you're going to have 11,100 a month. Now I'm going to let you into a little secret. Some of you, um, may already know this, most of you won't, but I'm live on TikTok, I'm live on Facebook, and I'm live on Clubhouse. So I've now tripled the reach of the people that have seen me mention to you rob.team because I've just set myself up. Someone thought it was Rob.T as in cup of tea. No, no, R-O-B dot T-E-A-M. Um, and so now because I've gone live on Clubhouse and Facebook and TikTok, I've tripled the amount of members that I'm getting, tripled the reach, tripled the community. And you can do that too. So don't just join for the benefits of being in Rob.team. Join as well to model how I build my Rob.team platform. My Facebook account manager said I've got one of the biggest supporter programs in the world, which is my Facebook subscription version. Mike has just said here on, on the comments, become a supporter. Rob's my virtual mentor, inspires me every day. So thank you very much there, Mike. Um, I've got thousands of supporters who watch me on my, um, supporter-only content. So I just wanted to share that with you. I want to do a live demonstration. That's quite rarely done on Clubhouse. But yeah, if you go to rob.team, then you can join there. And I look forward to helping you build your subscription revenue, build your recurring and passive income, reach your ideal community, get paid for your content. Many of you are probably doing content for free. Well, worst is you're not doing content. So start doing content. But then many of you are like, I don't want to do content because I'm not getting paid for it. Well, now you'll get paid to do your content. You don't even have to do any free content. You can say, no, I'm not doing any free content, I'm only doing content for my subscription members. So go to rob.team, model what I do, get all the benefits. And I just want to say thanks a lot for listening to this mini masterclass. Make sure you follow me on whatever channel you're watching on. And John and Ed, that's my little session done.
Rob, I just want to say that's super generous. I mean, literally for £5 a day, that's literally a price of an espresso.
