The 3 Types of Lamborghini Owner

In this monologue, Rob Moore uses the image of three distinct Lamborghini owners to illustrate three progressive stages of personal wealth. The first owner, who cannot truly afford the car, represents a "net‑worth millionaire" – someone whose assets minus liabilities total a million dollars but who lacks cash flow and often relies on debt or rentals to showcase the vehicle. The second owner buys a used Lamborghini wisely, runs it through a company, and enjoys it without ostentatious display; this mirrors the "liquid millionaire," who has diversified, liquid assets and can access a million dollars within days, emphasizing financial prudence and true cash availability. The third owner, who can purchase multiple new Lamborghinis in cash and cares little about the car itself, embodies the "fuck‑you millionaire" or TML (Ten‑Million‑Liquid) – a high‑net‑worth individual ($10‑$50 million+ liquid) with complete financial freedom but also facing privacy and relational challenges. Moore argues that material goals like luxury cars, watches, or houses can serve as powerful motivators for wealth creation, countering the notion that materialism is inherently negative. He concludes by promoting his online education platform, rob.team, which offers low‑cost daily subscriptions to courses on tax saving, AI, and wealth building, positioning these resources as essential tools for moving through the three wealth stages.

The 3 types of Lamborghini owner, and it's quite linked to the 3 stages of building wealth, or, you know, the, the millionaire status, if you like. And it's quite a good analogy for life and any way you may behave around your money. So the first type of Lamborghini owner can't afford one. Either rents it for their social media, or if they do manage to skank some kind of finance on it, they're paying 5 grand plus a month for, uh, the entry-level Lamborghini. And it's usually one of the absolute brightest, most garish colors. So that's the first type of Lamborghini owner. And if you think about your net worth, the The first stage of being wealthy is to be a net worth millionaire. Now a net worth millionaire is a worthy goal, just like if you like cars, owning a nice car is a worthy goal. However, the net worth millionaire is assets minus liabilities, £1 million in assets left. And you could have a £3 million property portfolio with £2 million worth of mortgages and it not really produce much cash flow and you're a paper net worth millionaire, but actually you haven't really got much money. So the first type of Lamborghini owner can't afford it, jacks themselves up in debt to either get it on a rental or credit and gets the most garish color and slaps it all over social media. Okay. The second type of Lamborghini owner likes to buy it well, likes to maybe get it 3 or 4 years old at the bottom of the depreciation curve or minimizing the loss. Looks after it, um, probably is quite an enthusiast of the car and, you know, likes to drive it and enjoy it. Doesn't just keep it in the garage and do no miles on it, actually likes to use it. Probably doesn't get the most garish outlandish color, probably doesn't just keep getting the new model just for the sake of it, um, probably runs it through their LLP company, is really smart with their money and gets really good ownership of that car. For its life and gets maximum value out of it. Now maybe that's you in some of the other cars you own, because I'm talking Lamborghini owner here, but actually I mean really any asset or liability owner. Now this second type of Lamborghini owner probably is a millionaire, but probably isn't a billionaire, and probably still values and has a grounded concept of money. And this is like the liquid millionaire. So the net worth millionaire has got assets minus liabilities of a million but might not really have or make much money. The liquid millionaire has the ability to draw out a million in 3 or 5 days' notice. Now, by the way, being a cash millionaire doesn't really mean anything. Like, it's nice to have that amount of cash, but you wouldn't want that amount of cash really. Unless it's pocket money because you're a billionaire, because it goes down with inflation when you have lifestyle creep. And so it ends up just falling out of your hands. So the goal actually isn't to be a cash millionaire, which a lot of people say. The goal is to be a liquid millionaire, which means you've got assets in lots of different— money in lots of different asset classes, multiple streams of income, assets that are going up, beating inflation. And if you need to draw the liquid millions, you can. So you're in a good solid financial position and protected. And this is a bit like the second type of Lamborghini owner. They make good money, they're not spending all their money on a Lamborghini, they buy it well, they use it, they enjoy it. They don't, it's not for show, it's not for, you know, a big fat brag. They don't wrap it green or anything like that. Okay, then the third type of business owner is the client, sorry, the Lamborghini business owner. I'm a business owner. And the third type of Lamborghini owner has just got so much money they don't even care. They always buy the newest model. They probably buy it cash. They sometimes don't even drive it much. They've probably got 10 other cars. They're not really hugely passionate about the car. They just like the new thing. They've just got so much money. They've got fuck you money. And then in terms of your net worth, the way that that works is when you are, probably worth between $10 and $50 million plus. So there's a goal called TML, $10 million liquid. And people always ask me, Rob, how much is enough? Well, a million definitely isn't, especially net worth million. You know, asset liability of a million could mean you've only got $5,000 a month living expenses. So a million isn't enough. 10, TML, $10 million liquid probably is enough. For most people, unless you want the wildest private jet extravagant life. When you get to $50 million plus, you know, that's the sort of number where you can do what you want, where you want, when you want, and you can buy every new Lamborghini and anything and anything, anything and everything you want, you can have. The downsides of that are, you know, the privacy issues— don't have great privacy. Um, you know, you can lose grounding on the sort of the value of money. Everyone wants what you've got, and friends and family want to use you for what you've built anyway. So 3 levels of Lamborghini owner is: one that can't afford it, jacks themselves up on debt, probably has financed it or rented it for a few days to post on social media, can't afford it, and they get the most gregarious color. Second type of Lamborghini owner values it, buys it well, and probably runs it through a company, is tax efficient, enjoys the car, uses it, drives it. Doesn't necessarily get the newest one, gets the one that's the most valuable to them. And then the third type of Lamborghini owner can buy 5, all brand new, doesn't care, they can lose 200 grand a car, they don't care. And it's like the 3 levels of wealth. Net worth millionaire, assets minus liabilities but probably cash illiquid. Liquid millionaire, where you've got enough money and assets that you can move it around and draw millions down within 3 or 5 days. And then fuck you millionaire, which is probably, 10 million is the like, right, I'm sorted for life. 50 million plus is the fuck you money. So I just thought I'd do content that's a bit different. Don't know if you found it useful or interesting, but I think the Lamborghini owner thing is a good analogy for life. I also think it's really good actually to use material items that you would enjoy to set as goals to make money. A lot of people say, oh, you know, happiness in life is not about material items. I don't agree. I think that a beautiful watch, a beautiful car, a beautiful house, you know, traveling in style, you know, which is a luxury, let's be honest. Beautiful jewelry, beautiful clothing, well-made, good quality, you know, reassuringly expensive. I think these are really good things to use as goals. I, you know, when I become a liquid millionaire, I'm going to buy a Lamborghini outright, or whatever it is that you want. I think that material items can be used really well. There's a lot of beauty and, you know, and passion and design and hundreds of years of history and artisan perfection in a Ferrari or Lamborghini or a Patek Philippe. So I don't think materialism is quite as nefarious as a lot of people tend to say. I think just use it as a reward and a goal. I remember I had the pin-up Ferrari Testarossa on my wall, you know, when I was 12 years old, and I got to buy that cash outright. You know, when I became a millionaire. And that was the manifestation of a dream and the using this as a goal.
