The Broken State of the Economy ⛔️

In this monologue, Rob Moore paints a bleak picture of the current UK and global economy, citing soaring inflation (14.1% and rising), climbing interest rates, falling house prices, and widespread public‑sector strikes that together create a "perfect shitstorm" of economic distress. He argues that this crisis, which he traces back to the 2008 financial collapse, also presents a massive upside for savvy investors. Drawing on his own experience of buying around 50 properties and two distressed businesses during the 2008 recession, Moore outlines a playbook for the present downturn: acquire undervalued real estate as prices fall (up to a 30% annualised drop), invest in gold and luxury watches, and seek distressed businesses with little or no money down. He advises doing the opposite of typical recession behavior by increasing marketing spend to capture market share as competitors cut back, and by launching or scaling entrepreneurial ventures to reduce tax exposure and create multiple income streams. Throughout, he repeatedly promotes his paid platform, Rob.team, positioning it as a low‑cost (under 20p per day) gateway to masterclasses, community support, and private‑finance connections that can help listeners execute these strategies. The talk concludes with a call to action to join Rob.team, share the video, and decide whether to be a “winner” or “loser” in the coming economic downturn.

The broken state of the economy. The global economy is in a state, but the UK economy is fucked on another level. And look, we've got house prices now starting to considerably fall. We've got inflation soaring at 14.1%, and it's going up and up and up. We've got the perfect shitstorm of increasing interest rate rises and increasing inflation, which you don't normally get together. So right now there's a lot of things that are happening that are ruining the economy, but this has been in the making since probably 2008, this state. But, and this is important, stay with me on this, there is massive upside opportunity, and you must balance your emotions and not just get sucked into the propaganda and the fear. In the last recession of 2008, I bought what, something like 50 properties in 2 years, and these were the best bargains I've ever bought. I also bought, um, 2 distressed businesses, virtually no money down, that I never would have bought were there not a crashing or correcting economy. Now look, economies get bloated and then they retract. They bloat, they contract. It's the natural cycle, if you like. So just so you know, this is reality mongering, not fear mongering, but I just want to share with you what I think is going on, what you can do about it, and the opportunity and the upside that you can see. So we've got interest rates now starting to soar, which means people's loans and mortgages are going up significantly, which is going to cause repossessions and calling in of assets and properties, and that's going to drop the price. You've got inflation at 14.1%, which means it's more like 20% and going up, which means your cost of living is going up and up and your relative spending power is going down and down. In fact, your relative spending power was already, uh, the worst it's been since World War II a year ago, and it's got even worse. You've got 2.3% of national, um, government debt which needs to be repaid, which Which is why the taxes are being forced up and the budgets are being cut. So the quality of your life is going to go down. The NHS is completely ruined, the education system, the ambulance are on strikes, the Royal Mail are on strikes, the rail systems are on strikes, everything's on strike. So the, the budget cuts and the fact that these public sectors can't put up the wages in line with inflation means that your services are going to go down. The value of your money is going down significantly with inflation. The cost of your loans is going up significantly. This is all happening real and now, and it is the perfect shitstorm. And we can blame the government, and we can blame lockdowns, and, you know, we can blame a load of things— the ridiculous trillions of national debt, the massive increase in taxes. But here's the thing: this also brings great opportunity. So in 2008, 9, 10, I bought around 50 properties for between 30 and 70 grand that now have peaked at 150, 200, even 250 grand. And now comes the opportunity for you to do the same because the real estate market has dropped more than 4% in 2 months. It dropped 2.3% in November. That's a prorated drop in a year of 30%. Do you know what that means? More affordability. First-time buyers will now be able to get in on the market, so a correction is good for first-time. Buyers. Investors can now make a cash flow return and a good yield, so it's actually good for investors. You can start to build your pension again personally, because by the way, don't even get me started about state pensions wiped out by inflation and being dipped into at times by the state. So right, what could you do? How can you turn this into an opportunity? Watch prices are going down and down and down, so you can get in on your Rolex Daytona. Gold prices is solid and stable and going up. It usually does well when currency does badly, so you can, um, load up on the gold. Minimal money in savings because savings is getting wiped out by inflation and the banks won't guarantee it. Start getting into real estate and property investing. And by the way, you cannot wait till it drops because when it drops, it drops like that. I studied the, um, quarterly price rises and drops since 1974. 4. And what you find is most drops happen in 3 to 4 quarters. So the last 3 recessions, nearly all of the drop was 3 to 4 quarters, and, and nearly all the growth was in a few quarters. And then most of the time it's just sort of steady or flat. So people are saying to me, when should I get in? You should learn now so you can earn soon, because if you wait to learn when the market is dropped, it's too late. So that's what you can do. Start thinking about becoming a property or real estate investor. The next thing is businesses. So when the market goes into recession, what do businesses cut first? Usually marketing expenses. You've got to do the opposite, I believe. You want to double down on your marketing expenses because your competitors are likely to get wiped out. In the lockdown, I would say 70% of my competitors just either went bust or just stopped trading. They couldn't do it. So whilst our business did drop in the turnover, increased in the profit, but 70% of the competition went. So even if my turnover went down 50%, I've got 70% less competition. So you can have less competition, your competitors are going to get wiped out or at least disrupted, so you're going to be able to increase market share. You might even be able to buy some of those businesses low and no money down. So multipliers that companies are getting to sell their businesses are going down hard in the last 12 months. In my industry, they've gone down probably 25 to 40%, um, in the last recession. We bought letting agencies and training companies. I bought one company for £5,000 that I turned around and it did £10 million in 2016. So these— all these new opportunities are here. Rolex Daytonas are going to be cheaper. Gold's a good investment. Getting into this— buying distressed competitors. For lower, no money down, um, getting into real estate, unbelievable, unbelievable opportunities. But you've got to immunize yourself, inoculate yourself from the mainstream mass propaganda, fear, hysteria. Because here's the thing, it's not so much the market that creates the recession, depression. I mean, it triggers it, you know, things like high inflation and government debt, but it's actually then the perpetuating fear of the masses. It's called reflexivity. The fear reflects into the market and drops it further. So you have to stay emotionally balanced, look at the facts, and go, oh, I can buy distressed property, I can buy repossessed property, I can buy distressed businesses. I should increase my marketing to increase my market share, not decrease my marketing. I should also start a business if I haven't started one. If I want to get my tax bill down when it's going up, I have to be an entrepreneur. It's the only way. So if you'd love to learn how to do all of these things and be opportunistic and leverage the recession and even cash in on the crash. We're in recession, we're in a decline in the property market, and if you wait for it to bottom out, you have missed possibly the best opportunity since 2008, possibly the best opportunity in 100 100 years. Because you should be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy. And right now everyone's fearful, so you can cash in. You should cash in on the crash. You should observe the masses and do the opposite. But talk does not cook rice. When all is said and done, more is said than done. So I've shared what I think will happen in the economy. You want to be liquid. You want to make sure you've got access to capital. So bank liquidity might, might tighten, but private finance and intelligent, um, private sophisticated investor money will expand. When there is— when the bank recession of 2008 happened, the banks stopped lending, but the private investors came out in their, in their droves because they saw the opportunity. So even if you don't have much cash or any money, there's going to be private investors and smart money that's going to want to get in and cash in on the crash, and you need to tap into that. And rob.team can help you tap into that because we've actually done one masterclass on how to raise finance for property and we're going to be doing more masterclasses on how to raise money to cash in on the crash. Do you think the recession is going to turn into a depression? Do you think the property market is crashing? Like I said, about 4% drop in 2 months, that's a lot. I mean, that's nearly 30% a year.
