The Pound is Dead 📈

Rob Moore argues the pound has declined since 1971 when Britain left the gold standard, hitting a 40-year low against the dollar. He blames lost reserve-currency status, quantitative easing, and inflation, then recommends shifting wealth into gold, property, stocks, and collectibles instead of holding cash.

The pound is dead. So the pound reached its lowest ever price against the dollar for at least 42 years in recent days, at barely over £1 to the dollar. 25 years ago It was almost £2 to the dollar. The pound has been dying since 1971, but actually the, um, the removal of the gold standard in 1971 was a moment in which the pound and other fiat currencies started to devalue. The pandemic seemed to hit the pound a lot worse than it hit the dollar. And the falling of the British Empire, when the British Empire and the pound was the reserve currency— and now not only is the pound not the reserve currency, it's like dropping down the ranks of the most important currency in the world. On top of that, we've got the Bank of England clearly huge fear of soaring interest rates and further weakening of the pound. So they are printing money for fun and trying to intervene to attract foreign investment into the UK to strengthen the pound because the pound is devaluing hard. Jackie has said this is the grand rising, all going to plan then. People say this is the Great Reset, the New World Order. Let me know what you think is really going on in the comments. But I'm going to talk just really briefly about the external factors about the dying pound, uh, and then what you can do about it. Because actually, I fundamentally believe that every downside has an upside. So a weakening pound against the dollar is good for the dollar. It's good. I'm sure Americans love spending pounds right now. All Americans will be coming to England and getting bargains. So every downside has an upside. So I'm going to talk to you about the upsides, but first, um, yeah, David has said, um, well, dollar is the global reserve currency. Chinese, the euro— these are all— I'm not sure about where the euro sits, but literally the pound is dropping in the ranks of the most trusted and held currency in the world. And of course, the British Empire, the pound used to be the reserve currency. Now it's not. So 25 years ago, it was almost $2 to the pound. Now it's almost a dollar to the pound. The British Empire used to have the reserve currency. Now it's nowhere near. And of course, the dollar is the reserve currency, and maybe China will overtake. Ray Dalio believes that China will become the new superpower and they will have the global reserve currency. There's very low confidence in the pound and in the UK markets. And this is why there's pressure to dramatically increase interest rates, and this is why the Bank of England are intervening. Higher interest rates means more attractive-looking investments for overseas investors, which brings in money into the UK. And of course, the opposite's been happening— money has been running away from the UK. Now look, since the removal of the gold standard in August 1971, do you know that the dollar has gone down to 14 cents relatively? Um, yeah, some of you in the comments keep saying there is a real New World Order, the Great Reset, own nothing, be happy. Please explain. So many of you are saying, yeah, New World Order, Great Reset, grand rising, all going to plan, Agenda 2030. Yeah, they're soundbites. Let's discuss. Let's go into the meat and bones. Prove it to me. Do you know, I've asked quite a few people who owns the world. No one can give me a name because it's kind of popular, isn't it, to say New World Order, Great Reset, Rothschilds, 'Klaus Schwab.' No one could give me a name or names or have any proof. Not even David Icke could. So hey, look, I want balanced discussion, by the way. I want balanced discussion. So I want you to share and to discuss, but try and give me a bit more meat on the bones. So, um, in 1971, in August, um, the dollar came off the gold standard, and that started the devaluation of money. So do you know since 1971 real estate's done that? Gold has done that, the stock market has done that, and money has done that. Um, a dollar is now relatively 14 cents, um, or inflation has taken $1 up to $7.30-something, so you cannot buy much for your dollar anymore. And now inflation is double-digit and inflation is soaring, that devaluation of money is increasing and increasing and increasing and increasing and increasing. So really now, not only is the pound dead But cash is trash. Chris, you're right, I completely agree with you. All fiat is dying. I wouldn't say fiat is dead. We still need it, we still use it. But I mean, in many countries we've had hyperinflation. I was talking to someone who managed a $160 billion fund, and he said he was raised in a country that had 30% inflation a month. So in many developing countries, you get double-digit inflation a month, which means money is virtually worthless. You know, I think there was a Zimbabwean million dollar note, probably couldn't even buy toilet rolls or bread. So this is just a reality, this is what's happening. And right now the pound is getting hammered and it's going down and down and down and down, and it's worth so much less against other currencies and in its own right. And it is a, um, it's a fiat currency, so it's being debased by inflation, debased by quantitative easing, debased by the soaring cost of living crisis. So, um, yeah, you're exactly right, Sam. How can a normal person progress in this day and age? Well, here's the solutions for the dying pound and the dying fiat currency system. Well, number one is there will be disruptions to the fiat currency system. It might be a new standard. It might not be a gold standard, but it might be a new standard so that money has a proper real value. It might be a cryptocurrency, although I really hope it's not a central digital currency. It might be something like Bitcoin. It might be a new form of money. If you go back 1,000 years, there was no such thing as cash. If you go forward 1,000 years, there will be no such thing as cash. So money actually does evolve, and previous currencies and methods of exchange die out, and new methods of money and currency and exchange become normal as they become quicker, easier, better, less friction, more speed. So really, cash is trash, and your solutions are as follows. Are you ready for the solutions? Number 1 is you kind of need to be in minimum amounts of fiat currency as possible. Now, of course, you need some spending money, you need some savings, you need to pay your direct debits, you need a bit of money in the bank. Of course you do. It's still useful and valuable to pay with money, but you want minimum amount. You know, you want your monthly expenditure, maybe 1 to 3 months max in sort of savings or emergency, and everything else wants to be out of fiat currency. There's many reasons for this. One is it's devaluing hard. 2 is you, you shouldn't trust the banks right now. 3, inflation is super high, quantitative easing, your money isn't necessarily safe and secure and guaranteed in banks. Um, so what you want to do is have minimum in cash and maximum in assets. So, um, gold is an asset that's going up while money is going down. Property is an asset that's going up while gold is going down. The stock market is an asset over time goes up while money goes down, um, starting your own content platform or building a membership site or building your own, um, information brand, intellectual property, or as I call it, information profits. These are all better ways of creating money than money, better ways of storing money than money. A Rolex Daytona is a better way of storing money than holding it in cash. Um, in 1979, you could get a Rolex Daytona for around $800. Or pounds. Um, do your price research, but it's around that. And that same Rolex Daytona a year ago was £85,000. Standard issue 1979 big red Rolex Daytona. So Rolex Daytonas have way done better than money. So any hard asset— Rolex Daytonas, gold, silver, property, real estate, etc. Um, a real business These go up in value over time, whereas money goes down in value over time. So you want to move out of money. You've got to earn— think of money as credits. Earn your credits and then put your credits into assets, because what you want to do is turn depreciating liability of cash into appreciating asset, and then the asset produces recurring income. So if you hold money, it goes down in value, but if you put that money into assets, the asset goes up in value, but the asset pays you recurring income. Property pays you passive recurring and residual income, certain intellectual property and information. I've written 18 books. They pay me hundreds of thousands a year, sometimes more, in recurring income, residual passive income. So this is the way you want to hedge against money. And by the way, if you'd like to learn how to build assets, if you'd like to learn how to build digital assets that are quick, cheap, and easy to set up, if you'd like to create multiple streams of recurring income, beat the banks at their own game, get the tax down, get your income and earning power up, I recommend you join my digital financial platform called rob.team. Just type in rob.team, rob.team, into a new window on the internet right now. Any web page, any internet browser, rob.team. Now, um, while you're doing that, Ricky said, is it worth being skint now by putting everything, um, in to reap the rewards later? I think it's worth having relatively low cash across your portfolio. So if interest rates were 15%, you'd want relatively high cash. If interest rates are 2% but inflation is 10%, you want relatively low cash. If there's a massive quantitative easing, you want relatively low cash. If there's quantitative tightening, you might want relatively more cash. So you want relatively low cash while the pound is being debased and money is being debased and fiat currency is worth not much. And do you know what, I give you masterclass sessions on money every single week in Rob.team, um, to learn about money and economics and the system and your economy and making, managing, or multiplying money. Um, I believe that the system does not teach you money anywhere near well enough. I believe your parents don't know about money unless you're, um, lucky to be the son or daughter of a billionaire, um, and the system and the banks do not want you to know what they know about money. I'm going to teach you how to get your tax down, how to get your income up, how to make, manage, and multiply money. So it's really easy to join because remember, to know and not to do is not to know. When all is said and done, more is said than done. So if you go and join rob.team, you just type in r-o-b dot team, rob.team, into a new window in the internet right now. And while the last people are going, let me just ask you this: do you think the pound is dying? I mean, I remember when I was a teenager, it was $2 pretty much to the pound. Now it's $1 pretty much to the pound. I mean, that is the death of a pound if ever I've seen it. And of course, we've got, um, the Bank of England intervening, worrying about all the overseas investment running away and affecting our pensions. And they're really worried about— um, they, they've— interest rates need to go up to attract foreign investment, which will have knock-on effects for people with mortgages. It'll really hurt them. Um, yeah, there's a lot of quantitative easing, trillions of dollars and pounds printed just for fun nowadays. And money has gone down like that while gold and property and the stock market has gone like that. So let me know what you think. Do you think cash is trash? Do you think that fiat currency is a Ponzi scheme and that fiat currency isn't real money? I'd love your thoughts. I've shared mine, and if you want to go back and find out what mine are, just go and watch the hashtag replay of this video. And remember this, um, get involved in the comments because I want to discuss with you what you think. And remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Thanks for tuning in.
