This Makes Millionaires

This makes millionaires. Now, most people don't know what it takes to become a millionaire because they aren't one. Now, everyone's got an opinion, but most people haven't got the result. And there's a lot of information out there about what it takes to become a millionaire that's completely wrong. Utterly wrong. In fact, you should observe the masses and do the exact opposite. Now, I know this because I've been a zero-er and I am now a millionaire. And 17 years ago, I was £50,000 in consumer debt. I wanted to be rich, but I hated the rich. And because I was jealous and envious of the rich, even though I wanted to be rich, I completely self-sabotaged being rich. And if you're not yet rich but deep down you know you'd like more money, there's probably some self-sabotage. And everyone thinks they know what it takes to become rich, yet most people aren't. I'll give you an example. Oh, well, you can just go on YouTube and get information on how to make money for free. No one who's watching YouTube videos for free and not investing in themselves is rich? No one. Everyone who reckons you can get rich for free on YouTube is broke. Fact. Fact. And I'm going to share with you in a moment how and why. So I'm going to talk about some of the things that most people think it takes to become rich but aren't, and then the one, one, one main pervasive holistic thing that that makes millionaires. Because by the way, it's not the industry you're in, because you can make— there are millionaires in every industry, every single industry. There are millionaires, and most there are billionaires, and many there are zeroers. So it's nothing to do with the industry, it's nothing to do with age. There are 18-year-old billionaires now, and there are 95-year-old billionaires. It's nothing to do with the location that you're in. It used to be the developing world and, you know, the more difficult non-capitalist countries were hard to make money, but that's completely and utterly changed now because of the internet and social media. It's not, not, not, not about hard work. You know, most people say, well, it takes hard work, you've got to outwork, out-hustle. Well, if it took— if hard work made you rich every coal miner would be rich. Every slave would be rich. They work fucking hard. Every nurse would be rich. So it's definitely not hard work, it's definitely not location, it's definitely not the type of industry that you are in. People also think, oh, it's inheritance because, you know, they got given money. No, no one is born with money. And people don't understand. Oh, but yeah, you get in, you, you inherit money, therefore you're born with money. No, you're not born with money, you inherit money. Do you know now more millionaires are self-made than inheritance-made? And do you know, generally the first generation make it, the second generation sort of quite poorly manage it, and the third generation squander it, and nearly always the way. So actually, it's often a curse to inherit money. And actually, now more millionaires are self-made than inheritance-made. And you know, I've got proof on this— lottery winners. If inheriting money made you a guaranteed millionaire forever, then every lottery winner would be a millionaire for the rest of their life, or a hundred millionaire. Except virtually every lottery winner loses everything. Not just half, everything. And it's often within 2 or 3 years after winning $10 million or $100 million. So you have to get it out of your head that it's about hard work, because if it was about hard work, then all the hard workers would be rich, including the slaves and the nurses. You have to get out of your mind that it's inheritance, because actually it's a curse to be given money without the skills the knowledge, the contacts, etc. So then what a lot of people say, well, it's luck then. Oh well, they're lucky, they were born into wealth, you know, they, they were born in the right country at the right time to the right parents. The problem with that is if you say being a millionaire is about luck, you immediately disqualify yourself from being one because you're going to assume that you're not lucky and they are. And I used to think, think I was unlucky and life wasn't fair and I wasn't given the opportunity. And whether I'm right or wrong, if I believe it, I'm right. What was the saying? If you think you can or you think you can't, you're right. So I thought I was unlucky, therefore I was right. I know people who are convinced that they're lucky and they are right. Now, Mark, you're exactly right. If it was easy, everyone else was doing it. It's meant to be hard. You know, getting a black belt is hard. Being a chess champion is hard. Making a million is hard. But it's not— it's the easiest hard work in the world. Because what's harder, being a millionaire or a slave? Being a deca-millionaire or a nurse or a coal miner? Let's be honest, it's much easier to be a millionaire than it is a slave. But the problem you have is you don't yet know how to become a millionaire because you haven't learned and you don't know the one thing. You will in about 2 minutes. And most of society will tell you what it takes to be rich, but they're broke. So here's the thing. You go to university, for example, and the economics and business professors are teaching you how to essentially make money and run a business, but they're all broke. They're earning less than $50,000 a year. Which is nothing now with inflation and taxation. So most of the broke people in the world are teaching you how to be rich, and that's why most people are broke. You have to observe the masses, do the opposite. So I can tell you the one main pervasive holistic thing that it takes to be rich. Now, of course, you choose the right vehicle, you can become rich. You leverage the internet and scalability, you can become rich. But the one thing that's common in all of them, every single one, in fact, let me see if you can have a guess. Have a guess in the comments. What's the one commonality in all rich people? Now I've interviewed 21 billionaires. I became a millionaire age 31, a deca-millionaire age 35. So, you know, I know this to be true. I've done 1,000 episodes on my Disruptor Show. I've written some of the best-selling books in the world on money. So I've extensively researched this over 17 years. Many of them make money in property, but not all. Yes, many of them are consistent, but you can be consistent at a job and be broke. You can do consistently the wrong things and be broke. Yes, they do have good habits, Sabrina. In fact, I listed out 19 habits of billionaires, um, in, in my new mini book that I'll probably share with you at some point soon. No one's got it yet, and it's not a surprise. Because most people don't know. You know, some people say to me, oh well, Rob, there's no secrets to getting rich. Well, why aren't you rich then? Why aren't most people rich? If there's no secrets to getting rich, why isn't everyone rich? The reality is you do not know what you do not know, and there are secrets to becoming rich. In fact, the one thing that makes all millionaires pervasively apparent in every millionaire, I first read about in a book that was written in the 1920s. Can you guess now? The book is by Napoleon Hill. Can you guess now? Sabrina's got it. The one way that all millionaires become millionaires is the people they know, the network they're in, the mastermind that they have. Broke people know broke people. Rich people know rich people, and Napoleon Hill wrote about it in Think and Grow Rich. So if you are surrounded by broke people, you will become it. If you are, you will become the sixth person of the— five people are broke, you'll become the sixth. I don't know if you, um, there's a, a lady who went out and lived with gorillas for many years, and she started exhibiting habits of gorillas. If you hang around with enough of a certain type of people for long enough, you cannot not become it, because we are all impressionable by others. So if you speak to a broke person, they don't even know a rich person. If you spoke to— speak to a rich person, they don't even really know broke people. So it is your mastermind, your network. Your network is your net worth, and here's why. It's really hard to change your mindset, your programming, your trauma, all your failings, everything that, you know, you were raised to do as a kid. It's really hard to change that, but it is almost impossible not to change when you're put in a different environment. So Ina said, did she become a gorilla? Yes, she basically did, Ian. She basically became a gorilla. She didn't grow hair, but she basically behaved like one. So There's two ways this happens to all millionaires. Number one is it happens organically, i.e., over time, years of learning and learning, they naturally change their network. They move away from their friends and negativity and people who want to bring them down and haters. And over time, organically and slowly, they increase their network to increase their net worth. The second way to do it, which is the best way to do it, which is to force it. So they buy into a mastermind. Or even if they're not yet rich, they seek out that mastermind. They go and try and meet rich people. They join networks. They join masterminds. They get rich mentors. It's the way to accelerate it. The richest people in the world have even richer mentors. People like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates would have mentors like Warren Buffett. I think Zuckerberg had Gates as the mentor. Gates had Buffett as the mentor. Buffett had Charlie Munger as the mentor. All millionaires have millionaire mentors. All zero-aires have zero-aires mentors.
