Trump hikes tariffs up to 50%. He's just pushed Canada's tariffs up to 35%. Mexico, about 35%. Brazil, like, look like they could be 50%. And he's hiking up tariffs on 90 countries. And there's a couple of fundamental lessons for everyone that I'm going to share in this video. Now, many people were calling Trump's tariffs his Liz Truss moment, meaning that he absolutely feared the market completely, scared it into oblivion like Liz Truss did when she reduced all the taxes and the market panicked and then she was gone. And people were calling this Trump's Liz Truss moment. I think Donald Trump knows how to negotiate. I think a lot of people think he's more stupid than he is. And his negotiation style is right out of his book, The Art of the Deal. Right, you've got a tariff of 50%. But that's always his opening gambit. Anyway, now he backed off 90 days, we'll pause, because I think he definitely did panic the market. And now there's going to be all these trade deals negotiated all over the world. And some fundamental lessons I think are really important here is Number 1, at any time, anywhere, a government, a prime minister, a president, your employer can pull the rug. It can happen. Maybe it's not intentionally done to you, but at any time, anywhere. This is why it's vital you have 3 to 6 months at least of living expenses personally in your bank. You might want up to 12. And when I say in your bank, We'll come back to that. You might want up to 12 or more for your company, but you need that irregular shock protection because, you know, the day before we knew about lockdown, we didn't know about lockdown, and then there was lockdown. And of course, that wiped out many people. So that's lesson number 1. Lesson number 2 is that these global leaders, they don't care about you. You know, maybe they care about their career, maybe they do care about their nation. I mean, Trump seems to be a America First. I wonder if Starmer was Great Britain First, um, it might help. But no leader, no government is going to look after your finances for you. And in this sort of tumultuous global economy we're in right now, more things are likely to happen to disrupt your finances in a bad way than a good way. In the UK, we've got the Autumn Budget coming, and that's likely to be more bad news. 16,800 millionaires will leave in 2025. That would be 100,000 millionaires by 2030. 3 of the top, just outside, 2 of the top 10 and 3 of the top billionaires in the UK have already left. And this is the reality of the falling of the British Empire and this austerity time that we're in right now. So here's what you can do. You can sort your finances out. You can make more money. You can manage the money you've got better. You can increase your earning power. You can reduce your taxes. There's only one way to do that, by the way. But the thing you need to do is take personal responsibility for your finances. You know, hopefully you take responsibility for your health. Hopefully you do for raising your children. Make money as important as your health and your wellbeing, because do you know the word wealth derives from the word wheel? Latin for well-being. Money creates well-being because you can afford things that can keep you healthy, wealthy, and free. Freedom is not anything other than the ability to say, no, I don't want to do that. No, I don't want to go on a lockdown. No, I don't want to pay 50% tariffs. No, I don't want to pay 75% of what I earn and what I spend in tax. No, I'm off. That's freedom, and freedom is expensive. And this is why I have Money School. So Money School is my global online school which is disrupting the education system, basically replacing what they should be teaching about money but they are not. That masterclass is in there. There's a 15-hour Money Mastermind University in there. I basically wrote what I would teach in college as a degree in money, bearing in mind I became financially fluid in my 20s. TML, 10 mil liquid in my early 30s, and now I'm 46, still going. So I'm teaching all of this stuff about money and business and personal finance, personal economy that the system isn't and should be. So the link is money.school. Just type in money.school. Trump's just increased tariffs on Canada to 35%, Mexico about the same, Brazil it looks like 50, who knows what it'll end up being for the UK. And it's put the markets into a bit of a panic, although his 90-day pause calmed the market down a little bit. And you know what? You're going to wake up probably once a week or once a day to bad news at the moment, and it's going to go on for years. This autumn budget in the UK is not going to be good. They're going to have to put up taxes. How can they not? And it's going to get worse before it gets better, like a lot of bad things do. So I always say the best solution, it's not a prime minister, it's not a president, it's not a party, it's not a government, it's not a bank, it's your knowledge. It is your investment in yourself. You are your best asset. Invest in yourself wisely, you pay yourself the best return. It is your ability to be able to afford freedom, i.e., if the tax gets worse, you can afford to leave, or you can afford a good accountant to get your tax bill down. I've got a good accountant. I've shared content inside money.school. If you want to get your tax bill down significantly, rather than paying it first, you can pay it last. So all of that is in money.school, and that's the reality. And brace yourself for more bad news in the UK or global economy. And look, you know, you can turn bad into good. Every downside has an upside. And if that makes you take money more seriously, and the more you learn, the more you earn, and sort your personal finances out with, then this has been a great gift to you. But you have to see the opportunity when everyone else is panicking. It's Warren Buffett that says, "Be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy." It was Walt Disney that said, "Observe the masses, do the opposite." And now's your opportunity. So I'll see you inside money.school. And remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
