Wages Dropping Sharply (Warning) ⛔️

Rob Moore and Jesson James warn that UK wages fell 2.2% while inflation hit 10-15%, creating a real-income loss of 15-17%. They argue employers won't raise pay enough to offset it, and pitch starting a side business as the solution.

So, big warning. Yeah, peace, peace warning. Wages have just dropped, um, but this is no surprise to me. But unfortunately, people are getting double and triple hit because prices are going up hard, inflation is going up hard, and wages have just dropped. This news has just broken. What's the percentage that wages have just dropped?
2.2%.
2.2%. So I've got my friend here, um, business partner, legend, Jesson James, and he employs a lot of people and he helps people start and scale their business. And so I thought I'd actually ask, uh, Jesson about what he thinks about dropping wages, soaring cost of living, prices rising, inflation high. What should people do? Should they try and get a big pay rise? How can they? Should they start their own business? What do you think?
Great, great question.
17 questions.
17 questions. First of all, thank you for having me here. Hello, beautiful people. So it is a concern. It's a massive concern and a rising concern that people have got around income. Like, cost of living is going up, but wages are going down. And let's be honest, most of the population are employed. Now, we do need employees. We need people in jobs. Here's the thing though, most of us are in jobs that don't pay us what we're worth. And there's an interesting thing going on right now. And, and funny enough, an economic downturn is when more businesses are started, right? So what people are starting to realise is, is that actually the skills that they use for their employer can actually be deployed inside their own business and setting themselves up as self-employed. Now look, self-employed is great because you work for yourself. There are some challenges there, but ultimately you get to actually be your own boss and actually get paid more than what you're getting paid doing it for somebody else. Now the biggest problem with that is, is most people don't want to take the leap of faith. The risk.
The risk. They've got families, mortgages.
They've got mortgages, they've got bills. And I get that. And it's true. But the thing is, if you keep telling yourself that story, you'll always stay where you are. So it's about changing the narrative because look, I see stuff every day on the news that people, money going down, cost of living going up, Rishi Sunak bail me out, whatever it might be. And that's great. But at the end of the day, if you keep pointing fingers at other people to help bail you out, you'll always live your life in the control of other people. You've got to think of it like that. Now, Look, I don't want to go all political on this because it's not a political thing, but— and I don't even vote, I'm just being honest. But here's the thing, Maggie Thatcher said something years ago which you might— may or may not agree with me, but here's the thing. She said the trouble with socialism is they eventually run out of other people's money. Let that sink in for a sec. The trouble with socialism is you eventually run out of other people's money. Now what does that mean? It basically means this: if we constantly live our lives waiting for handouts and bailouts and for our employers to give us more money and the government to bail us out and all this kind of stuff, we'll always live our lives in the control of other people. And that's not very liberating, is it? Because let's be honest, deep down, every single one of you watching this right now want to be free. And you see other people doing it and you go, well, how come you've been able to do it? Because at the end of the day, every master was once a disaster. Like, we've had to take the leap of faith. Ourselves. But here's the thing, it was worth it. It was worth it. Now here's why I think every one of you should think about taking a leap of faith right now and back yourself for a change, because it's easier now. When we did it, there wasn't a fraction of the support that's available out there right now. There wasn't none of these YouTube this and, and videos this and webinar this or training this or mentor. Like, you literally jumped in and you learned that you go, you learned as you go. And let's be honest, I'm I'm pretty sure you're the same, Rob. I've had some spectacular fails along my way, which have cost me a lot of money. And my clients nowadays not just pay me for my successes or pay Rob Moore for his successes, they pay us for our failures. 'Cause as much as you might love us, I think you prefer we lost the money, not you, right? But that's the thing. There's help ahead. There's help. There's help to hand now. So, and here's the other thing. What I'm seeing a lot of our clients do right now is they're still working their jobs, but they're building a business on the side. And what we're starting to see is people starting to actually leverage out of their jobs rather than just leaving it. So look, anyone— I'm just going to say how it is— anyone who tells you to bail ship, leave your job, burn the bridge, don't look back, run away from that person. Because who's going to pay your bills? You're making yourself uncomfortable. Entrepreneurship is already an uncomfortable journey, so you're actually going to make yourself more uncomfortable? That doesn't make any sense. So I say learn how to start a business while still having your job in the meantime. Do something about the wages going down because look, wages gone down by 2.2%. I think, with all due respect, in this day and age, if you don't know how to buffer that income with a side hustle, then you need to learn because it's so easy to do. If you can't increase your current wages yourself with a 2.2% increase yourself to counteract the 2.2% drop, through entrepreneurship, then you need some help because there's so many ways to do that nowadays, you know. So I say there's— well, I don't want to call it trouble ahead. I'm just saying, what's the prognosis? Well, right now, with all due respect, if you're waiting for Boris to bail you out, I'm not quite sure how that's going to work out because poor Boris wakes up in the morning, combs his hair with a freaking balloon, and then works out what he's going to do next. Okay, he doesn't know himself. So stop pointing fingers, with all due respect. And by the way, I don't want to come across insensitive. I know it's hard right now. Bills are going up, things are going up. But the more and more times we complain about it, nothing seems to be getting done. And life gets better when you take ownership. And this is what I'm trying to say to you. Like, when there's people around you that can help you, ask for it. Take ownership. It starts with taking ownership. I can't change what's going on in the economy. I know that. But one thing I do know about entrepreneurs is we create our own. Because I can't rely on other people. I've got bills to pay. I've got my kids to feed. I've got my employees to look after. I've got my team to look after, and so has Rob Moore. But if we keep on moaning about the bills going up and this is going— that goes into what we call a retraction mindset, not an abundance one. And when you retract, you usually go back. That's a good one. I think we should write that down. When you retract, you usually go back. So have a think about this right now. What are you going to do about it? I'm really interested. I'm curious. Let me know what you're going to do about it. Are you going to keep are you going to start doing? It's entirely up to you. So I think I've been speaking to you guys too much.
No, it's all good. This is— obviously I brought you here so you do. So a couple of things to add. One of the reasons we decided to do this live on wage going down is because it's all over the news now. It's like the second thing on the BBC website, but actually it's not as bad as it sounds. Wages dropping sharply was actually— I took that from BBC News on purpose. Wages have gone down 2.2%, but here's the thing, inflation is 10 to 15%, so actually your earning power has gone down 17.2% or 15.2%. That's the reality. You need to know that reality. Next thing is, I don't think many employers are going to give you a 15.2% pay rise. Someone said here they got a 3.7% pay rise. So if you want to earn what you did last year, relatively speaking, in the same spending power, you need a 15.2% minimum pay rise from your employer. You're probably not going to get that because your employer, all their costs have gone up on their supply chain as well, and they're not going to put their prices up 15.2%. So on the downside, it's a bit of a quandary, it's a bit of a hole. You've got prices going up, you've got inflation going up, and you've got wages going down. And that's going to be all over the news and media, and people are going to be scared. And you probably should be scared if you're employed and you're 15.2% down, relatively speaking. But if you've ever thought to start a side hustle, start a business, if you've ever thought to try and create an extra income stream, to turn your passion into your profession, your content into cash flow, all of this sort of stuff, surely the massive upside of everything that's going on in the world is this is the push you finally needed. Because it's getting uncomfortable. I feel sorry for people who are on the low incomes. I feel sorry for the people who are broke and poor, and it's not their fault because they're getting screwed. The millionaires, they can usually recover. And actually millionaires often have good debt and inflation pays down debt. And I know if wages are going down 2.2%, well, I know how to make an extra 2.2% or 10% or 20% because that's what entrepreneurs know how to do. So I don't think anyone is going to get a pay rise out of this. I don't think— because why are employers going to want to cover inflation and cost of living? So that's probably not going to happen for you. But I know most people who follow me, because this is why they follow me, It's because they want to start a business. They want a side hustle. They want a second income. They want to maybe have a bit of freedom, their passion into profession. So this is what Jesson specialises in. He's a business partner of mine. We have our Entrepreneurs Business School and Entrepreneurs Business Academy together. And that's why I wanted to bring him here to talk about this. And he's given some great advice already. You can go back and watch the replay if you didn't hear it. But Jesson, can anyone sort of follow you, go anywhere, maybe learn some tactics from you, what should they do?
110%. Look, I'm always preaching about this. And look, a lot of the things that people are going through right now, just so you're clear, if you don't know about my background, I used to be a psychiatric nurse. I'm completely empathetic with the stress that is getting caused right now. So what you'll find in me is a very rare breed of mentor, someone who actually understands mindset as well as business, because most people are teaching you strategy right now. I don't just teach you strategy. I teach you the mindset you need to deploy the strategy. Because like I said, many of you want to start a business, but you don't want to take the leap of faith. So I help you hack your brain into why you should be doing it rather than why you shouldn't be doing it and all that kind of stuff. So if you want to follow me, just check me out across all social media. Find me, Jess and James, Instagram, Facebook, wherever it might be. But I'm also doing something live tomorrow. Tomorrow, that is Thursday.
So whenever you're watching this, it's Thursday.
Thursday.
Couple of days.
Thursday.
See, I am useful on these lives. You are useful. Now I know why you're here.
Thursday evening in the UK, UK time, I think it's 7:30 PM, you can catch me live where I'm going to go into a deep dive masterclass on 7 things you can do right now to launch your business in this day and age, and how to do it whilst you're still working, plain and simple. Because I know some of you are watching, and not just people who are in jobs, some of you have already got a business and you might be watching this right now thinking, crap, like, I, I have to— where can I find the extra money to buffer my team's wages, otherwise they might leave me? Or whatever it might be, wherever you are, whether you're starting out, looking to scale up, wherever it might be, there's 7 fundamental laws. And when you follow them, your business can literally explode. And I'm not just saying that because we've got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of case studies of students. I mean, we've just come off stage together with a bunch of our mastermind students on people who've gone through the same process as you. And we don't just talk about this, we do it. So here's what I want you to do.
Sexy nurse.
How can I have a straight face?
Sexy nurse.
I haven't got a nurse uniform anyway. I gave it up ages ago.
Jesse, let's keep this simple, but let's get them to write profit. Yes, in the chat. Cool.
Yeah, here's what I want you to do. If you want to hang out with me on Thursday, type the word profit in the comments. Type the word profit in the comments, because what our team is going to come back and do is give you a link to come and access that training. Now, that training you typically would pay for, okay, just so we're super duper clear. Crazy times are ahead, so here's what we're doing. We're waiving the fee so you can hang out with me on this private masterclass. Class. So just drop the word profit into the comments box and we will send you a link to come and hang out with us. So I can see some people are typing that already. Appreciate you guys. Now let me explain why we're waiving the fee. Two reasons. Number one, I know money's hard for people right now, so I don't want to charge you for this knowledge. Number two, if I'm completely honest, I've got a hidden agenda. I want to help you get out your own way. If I can help you get out your own way and get you working with me so that you can actually start your business, grow your business, scale your business, Hopefully you'll give me a testimonial, you'll write something nice about me so I can go and help more people out there, because we're on a mission to free up as many people as we can from the chains and shackles of society, whatever it might be. So do me a favor, drop the word profit into the comments down below. We'll send you a link so you can come and join me on that live. And by the way, it's live, it's not a pre-record or any of that jazz. So when you're on there, you'll see me, I'll talk to you, I'll shout you out, I'll call your name out. And if we've got time as well, I'll stick around at the end and answer any of your questions. But look, please understand something. I can't help you if you don't want no help. Please don't be one of those people who register for stuff and don't show up. I'm just being very honest and real with you, right? Because at the end of the day, they say how you do anything is how you do everything. So if you're not even going to show up to something that you've registered, maybe you shouldn't even be in business instead, because business owners finish what they start. So let's start our mentorship right now. Finish what you start. Register once you've got the date. Pop it in your diary. Type the word profit if you want to do it. Put the date and time in your diary. Block it all out and make sure you show up for the entire training. I'll train you for over 90 minutes. It's not a mini class, it's a master class. So get yourself involved. Type profit in the chat box and we'll send you the link for that.
Boom. I can see loads of people typing in profit. So just write profit. And look, I want to give Jesson the highest glowing recommendation. I'm business partners with him. I never recommend Anyone really. How many times have you seen me in the last 6 months do a dual Facebook Live? Never. I do them on my own.
I feel privileged.
So I'd only ever have someone, you know, talking to you and offering to train and help and educate, support you if they are fully backed and endorsed by me. And like I said, I'm in business with Jesson. So what I believe Jesson is great at is helping you get out of your own way and your own excuses to finally start the business you've always wanted. And to help hedge against massive inflation and dropping wages so you can make up that 15%, 20%, 25% plus that you've lost in this cost of living crisis over the last 2 years. He keeps things simple. He's not got 58 choices. It's one thing that you can do. Basically, turn your passion into your profession. Turn what you already know into cash flow. I know there's a lot of shit going on in the world, and I'm ranting about it every day, as you know. But I'm also evangelising the upside opportunity. Because when I started business, there was no social media. You had to go live to events. There was only Google AdWords, and it was, you know, not what it is now. It was harder to start a business. You couldn't find all of your clients online. You couldn't go and join Facebook groups. But here's the problem now: it is easier to start a business, but man, the overwhelm— all the billion social channels, all the billion different business models and ideas— is overwhelming. So what Justin will do is he'll teach you the 7 Ps to start and scale a business, and he will give you a linear focus rather than, you know, scattergun over— I know because I've actually been on the training myself. So if you write profit in the comments, I can see there's loads of you that have written in there. Our team are going to go and are going to reply and give you a link. Make sure you click that link quickly because the training's in a couple of days and there aren't any replays or recordings.
So it's no recording.
It's now or never. But the information is on the page, the dates, the times, etc. It's all online. So let's just do a quick summary. The news has just broken that wages have gone down sharply. I intentionally put that in this title, but you know what sharply means? 2.2%. So actually the mainstream media are scaring you because 2.2% drop, it's not a lot. But with inflation at 10 to 15%, which it really is, that is a lot. And the only way I think you can really combat a 15%+ reduction in actual spending— I don't think your employer is going to give you that. And by the way, you have to get a 15%+ increase in your salary not to have an increase in salary, but to be able to stay the same as where you were a year or two ago.
Crazy.
I'm an entrepreneur. I've been building businesses for 15+ years. So has Jess. And so we believe the best way is to finally start that business. And it's probably best to start it on the side, a few hours a week, to be able to protect yourself. Because a lot of people think, oh well, I'll just wait till I'm ready. You're never ready. Or they're too scared to do it because they've got too many responsibilities. And the longer it goes on, the worse it gets. Because I think inflation is going to get worse before it gets better. I think wages are going to get worse before they get better. I think taxes are going to get worse before they get better. So hit profit in the comments. We'll share the link. You can learn from Jess and the 7 Ps to start and scale a business without that massive risk. Real talk. Also, make sure you do share this video because here's the thing, um, a lot of people right now are struggling, um, a lot of people are struggling, but actually the people I know who are our peers, their business is really successful right now. A lot of our peers are making a lot of money. It isn't, it isn't fair But life isn't fair. So the rich are getting richer right now, but the broke are getting broker. It isn't fair, but life isn't fair, and you've got to get used to that. So hit the share button. Let's help as many people as possible. Type in profit in the comments, and my good friend, dear friend and business partner, Jess and James, will help you start a business, scale a business with the 7 Ps. He's going to give you some training, which is subsidized by himself and myself. Any final last words?
Yes. There's a growing trend in— I'm just going to say how it is. There's a lot more people who've already had a long career. Maybe you're in your 40s and your 50s and you're thinking it's too late. And I've already had a long career in finance. I've a long this and that. I'm having medical doctors U-turn their careers and come and work with me and start their own businesses. It's never too late.
Okay?
It's never, never, never too late. And if you're young, like, and you're just getting started, with all due respect, before you go and get tainted by the big bad world of work, why don't you check out some entrepreneurship instead? Come and hang out with us. We'll show you exactly how to do that and literally collapse the timeframe to get you to where you want to go. So type the word profit in the chat box and I'll do this as well, whatever that means.
Some people have been spelling profit P-R-O-P-H-E-T. I really like that.
Am I profit?
Yeah. Thanks for tuning in everyone. In the chat. We're out of here. And remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Hit the share button. Let's help as many people as we can, because it's a cost of living crisis. There's no doubt about it. There's blood on the streets, but there's also opportunity.
But you gotta grab it.
True.
Peace out.
