So white people are not allowed an opinion on the Will Smith slap. Let me say that again: white people are not allowed an opinion, quote, on the Will Smith slap. This is according to TV host Tiffany Cross. Now, I'm not sure I've done any content on anything to do with race since Black Lives Matter. And my friend Shah Wasim had to pull me out to talk about that because it's sensitive, and who am I? However, um, I cannot in any universe see how the Will Smith slap has anything at all to do with race. Surely it's to do with right and wrong and how you handle yourself publicly and how you manage your emotions. And surely we're all allowed to get lessons and have discussions on what went on. I am a huge Will Smith fan. I love Will Smith. Why am I not allowed an opinion on the Will Smith slap episode? Let me know what you think. So MSNBC host Tiffany Cross held a panel on her show explaining why white people should sit this one out in relation to the Will Smith slap. White people should not have an opinion on the Will Smith slap. I just, I can't see it. Surely if we want to bridge into racial equality, we shouldn't be putting distance between races and cultures. Um, so apparently, according to Tiffany Cross, the incident, the slap of Will Smith on Chris Rock, was a private matter and nothing to do with white people. And she said on Twitter, a lot of us were like, you'll sit this out for your protection, because when we need to have a conversation, we're gonna have it. If you put your nose in something that Black people need to discuss amongst ourselves, it happens. So I don't really understand how anyone having an opinion, male or female or white or other, about Will Smith's slap— I don't in any way see how that's putting your nose in. Are we all not allowed an opinion? Is this in a way not somewhat about canceling and suppressing and censoring? Why should anyone say that any race sit out having an opinion on this? So she goes on to say, I'm not saying that violence is the answer, saying that they were condemning Will Smith's actions. There was no white people on this panel. We're trying to move forward as a family, she finished. Um, I will try to put this in context for our fellow white countrymen as best I can. Just quickly letting you know, if you're just tuning in, the, um, TV host Tiffany Cross has said that the Will Smith slap, um, white people should not have an opinion on it. It's nothing to do with white people, it's all to do with the Black family. And I have not commented on anything about race since Black Lives Matter, and I generally don't. But I do want a more together, connected, one society. I like to think that we don't put people up on a pedestal and we don't place them down in a pit. We don't look too much up and admire people too highly because, one, that puts pressure on them, and two, that depositions us against them. And, you know, Will Smith, everyone put him right up there. Will Smith was a lot of people's hero, and that's why everyone's so shocked now. So we probably pedestalized Will Smith too much, but Don't look too much up, don't look too much down. We're all equal, we're all on an equal plane. So surely if we want to rid the world of racism, etc., then we shouldn't be separating and dividing us. And I'd love to know what you all think, whatever, um, wherever you're from. I would love to know what you think. Um, but surely this is going to move us away from a collective one humanity? Surely this is going to create more separatism. So I will try and put this in context for our fellow white countrymen as best I can. This is TV host Tiffany Cross saying that the Will Smith slap was nothing to do with white people. And for those few people on this video that's going to say, well, this is nothingness, but it is somethingness because this person has a big reach. And no one wants racism, so it seems, but it works both ways, surely. In really truly black America, there's a commonality amongst us all. If we went to a white person's home and it was their family dinner and we were sitting at the table and the mother hauled off and slapped the father and everybody at the table has an opinion, if I weigh in as the guest in this home and say, "Yeah, you guys are terrible," everybody's like, "I'm sorry, when do you get an opinion? This is our family table." I don't really understand what she's saying there other than the fact that apparently the Will and Chris Rock was a private family dinner between them and we white people shouldn't have an opinion but Black people can because it's about Black people's family dinner and white people shouldn't have an opinion on that. But I think that the Will Smith slap, everyone can have an opinion on that. And I think we can all learn from it. And I think that it's good to learn through the experiences of others so we don't make the same mistake. And I'm a big Will Smith fan and I want to see how this plays out and I hope he's okay and I hope Chris Rock is okay. And this shouldn't be about race. The Will Smith Oscars slap is nothing to do with race in my humble opinion and it should not be made about race. So, yeah. And she added, while we talk about family talk, I think it is utterly ridiculous to center this conversation in the opinions of white folks. The jumping-off point should not be what might the white people think about it. It's just a moment between those two men. I thought it was uncalled for, even though she's commenting about it. So it's not just about those two. It's not just about Chris Rock and Will Smith. Because 100 million people have seen it. And should we not be focusing on the the act of potential violence and Will Smith as an influential person in the world and the rights and wrongs, not race. We should be more together, we should be more connected. So let me tell you why I've done a video on this. Number 1, I try my best to take what's going on in the world and talk about it in a way that we can all learn. So do we want peace, not war? Well, I want peace and not war. Do we want togetherness and oneness, not segregation and racism? Yes, I want togetherness and oneness, not segregation and racism. And these issues in Ukraine and Brexit and COVID and lockdowns and Will Smith slaps and Joe Rogan trying to get cancelled and Elon Musk, etc. These all give us an opportunity to discuss these in a case study in a way, um, you know, that we can all get some lessons from. I'm always trying to, to learn through the experiences of others, so that's why I've shared my thoughts on this. Let me know what you think about this in the comments. Would love to keep the discussion going. Um, surely we need to move towards togetherness and not separatism. So I just want to say I disagree with TV host Tiffany Cross when she says that white people aren't allowed an opinion on the Will Smith slap. I think everyone's allowed an opinion. I think we should be holding each other to account to do good in the world. None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. But surely coming out and saying white people are not allowed an opinion on the Will Smith slap is just creating separatism and turning it into a discussion about race. When it never should have been about race. Let me know what you think in the comments, would love your thoughts.
