Why Money Makes You Poor š³

Rob Moore argues that fiat currency is a depreciating liability, especially since Nixon ended the gold standard in 1971. Banks lend deposits many times over through fractional-reserve banking while savers lose purchasing power to inflation. Real wealth comes from converting cash into income-producing assets, not holding money.

Why money in fact makes you poor. The world has led you to believe that money makes you rich. Money does not make you rich, money makes you poor. Saving does not make you rich, saving makes you broke. But the banking system and the government, they don't want you to know this stuff. This is why it isn't taught in school. So in August 1971, Richard Nixon, he took the gold standard away where money currency had real value backed by gold. He removed that and created fiat currency where money could be created out of thin air by central banks and governments. And since 1971, the value of money has been doing that. Now, when you've got relatively low inflation, the value of money does that and we don't really notice it. So no one complains and everyone stays in lane. But when inflation is 10% and 15% and more, it starts to go down hard and people start to notice. Why do they notice? Because everything costs so much more fucking money now. But yet your parents and school been teaching you, save like a good little boy, don't spend, save, put all your money into a savings account. You can get 1% interest when inflation is 10%. So you must know this, it is a massive myth that money makes you rich. Money in fact makes you poor because this is the reason: money is a depreciating liability. The banks know this. So, um, yes, this is live, Rosemary. So when you give your money to the bank, the bank immediately know that that money is a liability on their balance sheet because the banks create inflation monetary policy, inflation, and they immediately loan and invest it out. And then they do what's called fractional reserve banking, where they'll lend Ā£1 out 10 times and $1 out 10 times. So you think, 'Oh, I'm saving my money, I'm putting my money in the bank, they're going to give me interest, they're going to look after it, and I'm going to get paid on it,' when in fact interest rates are relatively low, inflation is relatively high, so you're paying the banks to hold your money. And then the banks are taking your money and they're lending it out Ā£10 on the pound, $10 on the dollar, because they know it's a liability, yet they're telling you to give it to them. So here is what the school system, the banking system, and most systems will not tell you. Youā when the rich do not get rich by money, the rich get rich by assets. And what the rich do is turn money into assets as quickly as possible. So the only purpose of saving is to as quickly as possible be able to invest, as quickly as possible build up a little pot so you can buy a Rolex Daytona, you can buy a property, you can buy a bit of Bitcoin, you can start a business, you can put your money in the S&P 500 or whatever other asset. That's the only reason you would save. Well, to learn the discipline of building a pot of money. That would be the other reason, but you're not taught that or told that. So people think that people get rich through money. People get poor through money. People get rich investing in assets and investments, and money is not an asset and it's not an investment. So here's what you need to do. You need to learn how the banks work. And the government's work, and you need to play those bastards at their own game. Although I must say, Liz Truss, some of the things she's doing right now, good on you, Liz. I got your back, Liz. Getting the taxes down, encouraging growth in the economy. I support a lot of these moves. Good on you. I've been a bitā slammed the government a bit for some of the things they were doing, pandemic and lockdown and increasing taxation. But you know what? Credit where credit's due. Anyway, the government ain't going to tell you what I'm about to tell you. So any money you get, you've got to realise that's on fire. That's going down in value, and the longer you hold it, the more it goes down. So you've been paid and you're like, "Shit, I'm losing that, I'm losing that." Okay, stop. Get out of savings and put it into investments and assets. Now an investment is something that will hold your money, protect it from inflation, and go up in value over time. So at least it stops your money disappearing. An asset is something that will do that but also pay you a recurring income. So property is an investment, it protects your money from inflation and grows in capital value in the future, but it's also an asset because if you get a tenant covering your mortgage, you get income. Gold is an investment but not an asset because gold doesn't produce income. Bitcoin is a more volatile asset, but it's not an investment. More volatile investment, but it's not an asset because it doesn't produce income. The stock market is specially diversified across S&P or FTSE. That's an investment and an asset. Now Peter has asked, why do you think this isn't taught at school? Here's why. Because what the system needs is for you to go and get a job and pay 50% tax for the rest of your life because the government needs half your money because it's in so much debt. The next thing is the central banks need to make sure that you're borrowing money all the time off them so that they can charge you all that interest. So they're literally sticking one needle in one arm and sucking out half of your blood in your life in the form of tax, and then they stick in another needle in the other arm. They're luring you in with all loans and credit, come to daddy loans and credit, stick the other needle in and they suck out half your blood in your life in interest payments. Do you know the average American pays $600,000 in interest in their life? Holy fuck. Now, they also don't teach you the difference between a good debt and a bad debt. Bad debt: car, credit card, holiday, liability debt. You can get loans for that shit. By the way, if you go to a mortgage company and you want to remortgage your house because you want to buy another investment, they'll say no. But if you want to get a car or a conservatory, they'll say yes. How fucked up is that? So this isā there's other reasons it's not taught in school, but anyway. So, pick up my money again. Money is a depreciating liability that's been going down since 1970, but it's going down even harder now because inflation is double double digit. What I mean by that is double digit is 10%, and it's definitely over that. Double double digit, I call 20%. And let me ask you this. 'Oh, but Rob, inflation figures are only 8.3%.' Well, let me ask you this: has your milk, your cheese, your eggs, your travel, your accommodation, your hotels, your holidays, and everything you buy only gone up 8.3%? No, no, I'm telling you, since lockdown at leastā so since lockdown, at least 30% of the value of your money has gone up in smoke in inflation. So what have I got here? I've got a few dollars. So that, out of that much money, that has disappeared since the lockdown, and I've only got that left. But they all teach me to save money. The government say put it in bonds, put it in savings, come and get minus net 10%. Well, hey, if If I said to you at the start of lockdown, give me 100 grand and in 3 years I'll give you 70 grand back, what do you reckon? You'd tell me to fuck off. Well, that's what's happened to money. So you need to get rid of cash as quickly as you can. Obviously you need to live and have your food and, you know, your expenses, but anything above that, you need to get rid of money and put it into investments and assets because money makes you poor. And investments and assets makes you rich. So it's not just in poor countries where inflation is high, it's now coming into the Western world where we're getting double-digit-plus inflation. But the system will have you believe that money makes you rich. No, money is the conduit to invest in investments and assets that produce recurring income and go up in capital value. That is the system for getting rich. Maybe I should just say that again. Rich people don't get rich by money. Rich people get rich by investments and assets. Rich people use money as a conduit, a mechanism. They get rid of money very quickly and they put it into investments and assets. Those investments protect the money from inflation, stop it going down. They go up in capital value over time. And they produce multiple streams of income.
