Will Smith Advice for Putin? š³

Rob Moore applies Will Smith's quote about responding to fear to world leaders like Putin and Trudeau, arguing they govern through control that backfires. He says leaders should respond to fear with empathy and negotiation instead, citing examples from business and sports.

Will Smith advice for Putin. Now, I wonder if this wise Will Smith advice is for Putin with what's going on in Russia and Ukraine and the world right now. So, um, an amazing quote from Will Smith's autobiography is this: how we decide to respond to our fears, that is the person that we become. Let me say that again. How we decide to respond to our fears, that is the person that we become. And right now, I think there's a lot of fear in the world. I think there's a lot of fear with many global leaders. I think we've come out ofā actually, maybe the real pandemic was a pandemic of fear. Let me know what you think about that. Um, fear in the media, or fear-mongering in the media. Leadership by fear rather than leadership by inspiration or love or evolution. Because I feel like we're somewhat devolving as a humanity. I don't know what you think, but is war the answer? I don't believe so. People say, but over history there's always been conflict. Yes, there has, but we're not barbarians anymore. We have technology, we have knowledge, we have historical experience to know how this ends. So surely we should not be in a position of war and totalitarianism and dictatorship. Let me know what your thoughts are, by the way. So, um, Will Smith quote: I wonder if this was for Putin. How we decide to respond to our fears, that is the person that we become. And I think, um, you know, we shouldn't waste opportunities like this that are going on in the world to learn, because everything is a lesson, and in every stressing hides a blessing. So right now in the world, you don't need me to tell you, we have Russia invading Ukraine. We have NATO versus Russia, and we have this paradox of control. We also have the great big, um, trucking issues in Canada, you know, and we have the, umā I mean, I was absolutely shocked when the Canadian government sanctioned the seizing and freezing of bank accounts of anyone involved financially, even just a $30 donation to the protests. To me, that is wrong. That is totalitarianism. That is almost a dictatorial way to govern, and for me, that's not the answer. So here's the paradox of control. You have these global leadersā Trudeau, Putinā who want control. And the paradox of control is the more that you try and hold and grab control, the more it slips through your fingers. The less you strive for control, the less you have. Because if you think about it, no one wants to be ruled by dictatorship. Freedom is your ability to choose, and if you are dictated to in a totalitarian regime, you don't feel free. So you are then led by fear. And then you build up a resentment that turns into a rebellion against your leader. And this can be a boss of a company, or this could be a leader of a nation. So I believe there are some great lessons that are going on right now. Now, I've interrupted my usual business entrepreneurship type content with what's going on in Ukraine to show my support for, um, you know, victims of war. And I do not stand for war, I stand for peace. I stand for leadership not by fear and power and control. And so I've interrupted my usual content, but actually we can learn a lot from this as leaders, as entrepreneurs, as innovators. Uh, look at your Jürgen Klopp. What, like, everybody loves him. You feel like he's your friend. Even the people who don't get in the team love him. Even Man Utd, Manchester United managers and ex-players players love Jurgen Klopp. Now look, managing Liverpool is different from managing Russia or Canada. Yes, although at one stage it was probably similar with how bad Liverpool were. But you've got the different types of leadership, uh, and Will Smith, I believe, said it best, and it's in his autobiography. And I don't really think that he was directly giving advice to Putin. That's why I put a question mark in the title. But I believe it is good advice for Putin and Trudeau in Canada. How we decide to respond to our fears, that is the person that we become. Mainstream media is scared. I believe the leadership in Canada and the leadership in Russia, they must be scared, otherwise they wouldn't be trying to control by totalitarian and dictatorial regimes. But fear is a paradox because the more you try and hold on to control, the less control you have. You have to let go to grow. So instead of Trudeau seizing and freezing bank accounts, if anyone was involved in trucking protests, what about taking responsibility for what made the protest in the first place? What about trying to negotiate? What about trying to come up with a win-win? What about understanding the point of view of why the truckers are so angry and protesting? Why not? Why, why not that approach? Why not, why not the leader take full responsibility like a great manager takes responsibility for the team even though the players play? And I'm not sure we're seeing that with some of our global leaders right now. So I hope you found this content useful. Please hit the share button. Um, it's a shame that we have to talk about these things when many of you who follow me follow me for business and entrepreneurship. You want to start and scale your business get better financial education and knowledge. But I think that these worldviews have to be addressed. I have to use my platform for good. Now, someone has quoted in the comments my quote, which was quoted to me by a billionaire friend of mine, and it's a great way to end. So hit the share button, and then I'll end with one of the best quotes that I think, um, indicates where we are in history right now. Are you ready? Here hit the share button. The quote that indicates the history of where we are at right now: fear screams loudest when it's dying. Fear screams loudest when it's dying. So when you face your fears, it will scream the loudest, and you will be the most scared and hijacked just at the point at which you overcome your fears. And I believe seizing and freezing bank accounts, which I would deem to be an invasion of human rights, is the point of greatest fear of a Canadian government. And a war between Russia and Ukraine, I believe, is the apex, the peak of fear of a Russian government. And I believe mainstream media is dying, so it's trying to cancel Joe Rogan. That is the apex of fear. So the paradox of control is the more you try and control people, the less you actually control people. Leadership is about the collective, not the individual. And try and see the world from someone else's point of view to look to solve the problem, rather than seeing it for your own power and control. And we're seeing a lot of fear screaming loudā mainstream media, Canada, Russia. And it's just such a shame. And that's why I'm interrupting my usual business and entrepreneurial content to comment on these important topical matters. So please hit the share button. I believe Will Smith's advice says it best: how we decide to respond to our fears, that is the person we become. So when there's a trucking protest, of course, as a Canadian government, that's going to create fear. When there's a war, that's going to create fear. When you're challenged and criticized and ridiculed, that's going to create fear. And how you respond to that defines the person that you become. So please hit the share button. Please, um, discuss your thoughts on Canada and Russia and Putin and Ukraine. I stand for peace, not war. Solutions, not problems. Um, love, not fear.
