So Will Smith has been banned from the Oscars for 10 years. The Academy were reviewing how they were going to deal with Will Smith after the slapping incident of Chris Rock, but because Will Smith resigned, they— that expedited their, um, review and ultimately decision. So, um, the Academy have announced that they are banning Will Smith from the Oscars gala and other Academy events for 10 years. So let me know what you think about that. That's a hefty, um, hefty punishment. Do you think, or do you think it should have been longer? Lifetime? So in a statement, the Academy said the 94th Oscars had been overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage. Will Smith resigned from the Academy, having apologized afterwards for his actions. And then, of course, he was given the Oscar for his role in King Richard. So in the Academy statement, it said that banning Smith was aimed at protecting performers and guests and restoring trust in the Academy. The Academy said at the time of the slap that it did not adequately address the situation in the room and had been unprepared for the unprecedented. The Academy went on to apologize for this. The Academy went on to thank Chris Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. So it's all starting to play out now. I was having a chat with a friend of mine today, and he said, do you think that's the end of Will Smith? What do you think? Do you think that's the end of Will Smith? My personal view is he's going to have to eat some humble pie, and he's going to have to take some punishments. He may get cancelled from certain things. I know that Netflix and Sony Pictures have paused shows that he's doing. I don't think it's the end of Will Smith. I don't think it should be the end of Will Smith. We're all human and we all make mistakes. So, um, yeah, the reason I'm commenting about this is because it's actually one of the most talked about things of the year. I think it raises many, um, moral and social dilemmas which I think are important to discuss. By the way, um, we've just had Jack said here, Rob, I used to love your vids. Well, two— I did two videos today. On money making, mastering, and managing money. So I'm doing a lot of content at the moment for you, but, um, the, the news, the big news is that Will Smith's just been banned from the Oscars for 10 years for his Chris Rock slap. And I, I would love to know your thoughts on it. I think you should share the video and let's discuss what we think about it, because, you know, look, celebrity culture is a thing, and we look up to these people, and these people drive culture They drive social media. They influence millions of people. And so, you know, they affect our lives. It's also— just going to say it— nice to have a little bit of light relief from the awful war that's going on in Ukraine right now. Because if I were to click the headlines, Biden blames Russia for atrocity at station that killed 50. It's absolutely awful. Such a shame that, you know, in this world we're living in right now that we're not evolved enough that we still have to fight wars. Anyway, what do you think about Will Smith being banned for 10 years from the Oscars over the slap of Chris Rock? I was talking to my friend also today saying it's like when you listen to a song for the first time. It's a band you like but you're not sure about the song. And then it grows on you and grows on you and grows on you. And this whole Will Smith saga, when I first saw it, I was just like, What just happened? And as it's gone on and on and on, more and more implications have come out, and, you know, seems to have somewhat divided opinion. I think we're all agreed that violence is not the answer, and I think most people feel that, you know, it was something that he shouldn't have done. So I guess really the question was going to be, what were his apologies going to be? What, you know, what medicine was he going to take? He resigned from the academy, which means he can't vote. you know, on the Oscar nominations. And now the Academy have come out, which with what seems like a pretty strong punishment, 10-year ban from the Academy because his slap, to quote them, overshadowed— well, the 94th Oscars had been overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage. He then got the Oscar an hour later for King Richard. He then made his speech and did apologize to the Academy and the audience, though not Chris Rock, but, you know, talked about how he was a vessel of love. Usually vessels of love don't slap fellow friends, because it looks like him and Chris Rock are friends. I mean, what did you think of the whole thing with him and Jada? You know, there's a lot of undercurrent there going on. Have you listened to Will Smith's autobiography? Because I think if you listen to Will Smith's autobiography, you'll see you won't be surprised of why he did what he did. Just want to say, love Will Smith, great autobiography. I'm not here lynching Will Smith. It's just an interesting thing to observe. You know, I hope he receives the lessons that he needs and he comes back stronger. So the Academy said that banning Smith was aimed at protecting performers and guests and restoring trust in the Academy. The Academy said at the time of the slap that it did not adequately address the situation in the room and had been unprepared for the unprecedented, and the Academy apologized for that. The Academy also thanked Chris Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. Will Smith said when he resigned that he'd betrayed the trust of the Academy and was heartbroken over his actions and said that he would fully accept any consequences for his conduct. So let me know what you think. Hit the share button. Um, yeah, that's the, that's the news that's going on right now. And, um, it's easy to judge. We're all going to make mistakes. So I will just say one thing, that, um, you know, I hope he recovers. I hope he doesn't get canceled forever. Um, and I hope he comes back stronger. Let me know what you think because I think he's done a lot for the world. Made lots of amazing movies and music and been a pretty inspirational guy. So yeah, but I know others think, you know, violence is violence, and it's obviously a very bad way to use your influence. And some people thought he should have been arrested. Jim Carrey thought he— Jim Carrey said he'd have sued him. So yeah, very interesting. Let me know what you think. Hit the share button. That's the news. Will Smith has just been banned for 10 years from the Academy. Oh, and remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
