So Will Smith has just punched or slapped Chris Rock live at the Oscars. Here's the interesting thing: no one is talking about who won the Oscars. No one at all. Everyone is talking about Will Smith slapping or punching Chris Rock. Now look, I don't normally talk about these celebrity-based things, but I actually think there's some really interesting things to chat about. Let me know what you think in the comments. Quick chat. Interesting number one is that no one is talking about who won the Oscars. I have no idea. All I know is that Will Smith either punched or slapped Chris Rock. Now, what happened was Chris Rock was presenting and he told a joke about Will Smith's wife, Jada. And actually, honestly, I don't know what you think. But I thought it was a pretty disgusting joke. I'm not easily offended, but Jada Will Smith's wife, she has alopecia. Her hair falls out. And Chris Rock made, I think, a very tasteless joke. That's my view. So maybe he deserved a slap. Don't know what you think about that. At the same time, I mean, we saw Ricky Gervais' slamming of all celebrities at the last Oscars? And would there be an argument that you should expect the worst when it comes to the Oscars? And I actually asked my wife what she thought about it. My wife is always a really good barometer. And I will tell you what my wife thought about it because she had very strong opinions on it. From what I could see, it was a slap, not a punch, but of course all the media is saying punch. But I'm just going to say, and look, I think comedy gets a bad rap, and I think sometimes comedians must feel like they can't make a joke about anything otherwise they're going to get slammed. However, you know, someone's poor health, you know, and a woman's looks through losing her hair, to me that was tasteless. Just saying. A few people have said it looks staged. I don't know. I mean, did you see Will Will Smith's reaction when he was swearing at Chris Rock, that did not look staged to me. Will Smith looked scary. Will Smith's tears in his apology did not look staged to me. They looked scary. Will has said loose lips sink ships. Anyway, so I will just say Chris Rock just stood there. What a chin. Didn't go down, didn't even cover his face. Maybe that's why some people are saying it looks like it was staged. I personally don't think it was staged, but I must admit, I believe things quite easily. So let me know what you think. So if it wasn't staged and if Chris Rock took a slap, a big slap from Will Smith, he carried on as normal. And that part of Chris Rock's hosting I thought was pretty professional. He just carried on. But tasteless joke in my view. Now, I asked my wife, what did you think about this? And she said, um, Will Smith should not have slapped Chris Rock. It was embarrassing. Because I— ladies, let me know what you think. If your man, or gents, if your man, or gents, if your lady went up and slapped someone for telling a very tasteless joke about your partner, What do you— you know, what would you thought of Will Smith's reaction? So— because some people might think it's a gratuitous romantic gesture, which to be honest, that's the kind of sort of thing that Will Smith would do. I'm listening to Will Smith's autobiography right now. I'm finding it really interesting. He's a very emotional guy. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He's carrying a lot of pain. He wants to like literally prove everything to his wives. Because he's had some past ones, literally wants to love on them so hard. So actually, this was kind of— this was kind of to character in a way. Some people have said that the police should have stepped in. Chris Rock didn't want to press charges. I think he was questioned, well, asked if he wanted to press charges. So yeah, ladies, do you think this was a bit over the top? So my wife said, It was an ego-based thing from Will Smith, obviously, because he was hurt. And it's cringe and embarrassing. And now the whole world knows about Jada's alopecia and her disease. And the whole world knows about the joke. Whereas if Will Smith had just maybe said something and just, you know, kept his hand in his pocket, then the whole world wouldn't know. So it's even more embarrassing now for his wife. So in trying to protect his wife, maybe he's actually shamed his wife. This was what my wife thought. Someone has said, please speak slower. Yes, I get rather excited. So in Will Smith's acceptance speech, because I wanted to know if he was going to apologize to Chris Rock, he kept saying over and over that in his character, the Williams sister's father that he won the Oscar for, he kept saying over and over that his character wanted to protect his daughters Venus Williams and Serena Williams. And he said it over and over in his acceptance speech, which was obviously a justification for slapping, punching, hitting Chris Rock. He said that you have to take abuse in his position. And, you know, I guess he must have seen Chris Rock's joke as abuse. He did apologize to the Oscars. He did apologize to his fellow nominees. But he did not apologize to Chris Rock. And actually, Denzel Washington said to him, and this is really interesting, there's actually a lot of great lessons in this, a lot of great lessons about culture, a lot of great lessons about handling your emotions. Hit the share button, actually, because this isn't me just going, oh, look at what happened in the Oscars. I think there's a lot of really interesting lessons. So Denzel Washington whispered to Will Smith, be careful at your highest moment, that's when the devil comes for you. Interesting, huh? At your highest level, that's when the devil comes for you. And clearly, at, um, Will Smith's highest level, winning an Oscar, now, um, everyone's talking about it. And I don't think it was fake. Will Smith looked angry. That being said, Will Smith has just won an Oscar for Best Actor, so maybe he's good at acting it. Okay, so I believe the joke was in poor taste. You could absolutely see that Jada didn't like it. The joke happened. I'm not even going to repeat it. You can watch it yourself. But it was a tasteless joke that was linked to Jada's alopecia. She has an autoimmune disease, I believe. And when Chris Rock made the tasteless joke, the camera panned to Jada and she was not happy. Not happy. But did her husband lose control? I mean, this guy is a professional. Will Smith is a professional actor. He should be one of the masters of controlling his emotions. He should be an absolute master at it. Except he's lost his shit. He's gone up on the stage. He slapped Chris Rock pretty hard. Chris Rock's chin is pretty good. He's gone back in and he shouted and screamed and effed at Chris Rock. And then in his acceptance speech, he's crying. And crying while he is apologizing to the Academy and to his fellow nominees. So I actually do, you know, someone says it's not really a scandal, I kind of do think it's a scandal. Who is talking about who won the Oscars? Do you know who won the Oscars? I bet you don't know who won the Oscars because no one is talking about it. And now millions of people know the joke against Will Smith's wife, know the insult against Will Smith's wife. So he is the person who has made it public. Because had he not reacted other than maybe a stern, angry face, maybe just held her hand, then the world wouldn't know about this. Sabrina has said he's human. Exactly. And knowing him, what, listening to his autobiography, you know that's going to trigger him because he is a staunch defender of those he loves. And so that's obviously triggered him. But, um, let me know what you think about it. Hit the share button because obviously everyone's going to be talking about what happened, but not properly analyzing it. You know, it was, in my view, a bad-tasting joke. I don't know what you think about that. I also think after the slap— I mean, did he deserve to get hit on stage in front of millions of people? I would maybe say no. Do two wrongs make a right? No. After that, I think he handled it pretty well, like a pro. And I'm not sure that Will Smith handled his emotions like a pro. And Will Smith, is supposed to be one of the best actors in the world where he should be able to control his emotions better than anyone else. Some people are saying it was staged. What do you think? So hit the share button. If a man doesn't defend his wife's honor, is he really a man? But could he defend his wife's honor in a different way? I mean, I asked my wife, what would you think if that was you and I went on stage and slapped Chris Rock? And she'd have said it was cringeworthy and shameful and I'd be disgusted if you did it because now the whole world knows about it. Just, you know, just hold my hand and be there for me. You don't have to go hitting everyone and slapping everyone. Suicid— racist comment award goes to you. I wasn't at the Oscars, and how is this a racist comment? I don't think I've made a racist comment at all. There's nothing to do with race. Everyone has a limit. Yeah, and look, you know what, it's easy for us, isn't it, looking at the outside in. But I do think that it's interesting to debrief. So Will Smith has just slapped Chris Rock because he told a joke which I believe was in bad taste about Will Smith's wife's hair loss. And some people are saying it's staged. I don't think it was staged. Might I lose my shit? I might lose my shit. Yeah. It's a long walk though, up onto the stage. No one is talking about who won the Oscars, everyone is talking about the slap. Pretty disgusting joke, maybe it was deserved by some people, but are there better ways to do it? Can you show solidarity better? Well, there is one thing for sure, now Will Smith has made sure the whole world knows about it. So is that worse? Is that an unintended consequence? I thought that Chris Rock handled after the slap pretty well, but I do think the joke was in poor taste. Should Will Smith have managed his emotions more? I mean, Will Smith is supposed to be one of the best actors in the world. Supposed to be. So maybe he didn't handle his emotions that well, because I think when you're a successful person, you've got to handle your emotions really well. Will Smith kept saying, you know, I protect people, I protect the ones I love, I protect people. When you're in my position, you have to take the abuse. That's part of the responsibility. Denzel Washington said, be careful at your highest moment, that's when the devil comes for you. Be careful at your highest moment, That's when the devil comes for you. He looked angry to me. That's a great way to end this video. Please hit the share button. Let's have a little chat in the comments and let me know what you think. I mean, look, you know, this is now worldwide news. It's breaking the internet. So we can say it's not that important a discussion, but it's breaking the internet. It's interrupting other things that could have happened in the world. So I think it is important to talk about. Um, and look, it's gone from slap to anger to crying. Didn't apologize to Chris Rock. Didn't see that Chris Rock apologized for his joke either. Let me know what you think in the comments. Hit the share button. I'm not sure it was staged. Many people think it was. I don't know, looked a bit too raw and real for me.
