So Will Smith has officially resigned from the Oscars Academy. Now apparently this is a huge deal. I've been having many discussions about what happened with Will Smith and the slap and what it really means, and I think it's become a, a social case study offering many moral quandaries, which I think is really interesting to discuss. So, um, breaking news is that Will Smith has now officially resigned from the Oscars Academy. Now apparently resigning from the Academy is a really big deal. Membership to the Oscars Academy is invitation only. Apparently only a handful of people have ever been expelled: Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski. Now the Academy apparently still reviewing their punishment of Will Smith. Disciplinary proceedings will continue. But Will Smith has obviously got in there. John Paul has just said that's a jump before being pushed. Maybe it is. So first of all, let me know what you think about Will Smith resigning from the Oscars Academy, and let me know what you think about the whole thing. So I feel for Will Smith because I'm soft, and he was clearly hurt. Was he hurt? Or was, um, he reacting to the hurt of his wife? Who knows. Um, but Chris Rock's done all right out of it. Chris Rock's, um, sold more tickets in a day than he had in a month. And Chris Rock is taking his time to process what happened. I actually think that's a really smart play. Number one is you should think about all sides of the implications of things that happen. And then number 2 is, why not milk it? And then, yeah, I definitely think it's fascinating. I initially said I thought that it was quite a poor taste joke for someone who, you know, has apparently got an autoimmune disease and alopecia must be horrific for the people that have it. But then I thought, well, wait a minute, they do roasts in America all the time. It's a cult comedy culture of roasting. And so, you know, really, Will should have been able to take that. Now, the thing that fascinated me was he was kind of laughing and in it, and then it seemed that he only got triggered when his wife was triggered. And then he had to walk all the way up the stairs and all the way down the stage. It was like a 15, 20-second time delay. He would have had time to compose himself. So that definitely seems like, wow, I mean, he must have been hurt. A lot of people criticizing Will Smith, you know, get rid of him, cancel him, fire him, ban him from the Oscars, take his Oscar off of him. Let me know what you think. Now obviously, you know, a slap is violence, and you know, all right, didn't knock him out, but It was a reasonably hefty slap. Gavin has said it was staged. FFS. I don't think it was. The reason I don't think it was is because, you know, all these big humiliating apologies and resigning from the academy, as if you'd resign from the academy, never be able to go back or vote or anything like that. There's no way it was staged. Come on. I shouldn't have said it's staged. How can anyone say that was staged? What, are you going to stage a slap and then, yeah, all right, I'll resign from the academy? And yeah, I'll never be able to vote or go back. And now David has said, who cares? Now I understand why David has said who cares, because I thought about this. You know, there's wars going on in the world, and you know, we've had COVID and lockdowns, and these are far more serious. But in a way, it's kind of nice to not be talking about that every single day. And I actually do think it brings up some social and moral dilemmas and quandaries which I think is important to discuss. I'll give you some of them right now. It's easy for us all to judge. Look at me sitting here doing a live and look at all you giving your opinion and look at me saying about what Will Smith could have and should have and would have done. Will Smith's done 10 amazing blockbuster movies, 10 more than me. Will Smith, you know, is an amazing movie star and TV star and musician. I'm none of that. I'm nowhere near as big as or as influential as Will Smith. And I know that something like that could happen to any one of us. Now, you may have slapped someone or you may have done something embarrassing or silly or stupid that you later regret. You probably did that in your bedroom or in your living room or in front of one person. Will Smith has done it in front of hundreds of millions. So I actually do have some sympathy and empathy for that. And, you know, how would you feel if you were judged by hundreds of millions of people? Sean Paul has said, talk about electric bills and people getting poorer with inflation. I've done that loads, Sean Paul, as you know, that you follow me for that. And I will continue to do that. Um, but you know, we're all going to get triggered, we're all going to do things which we're going to regret, and how we deal with it and, and how we behave in the moment of being triggered, and then when we make mistakes, how we deal with mistakes and we deal with regret and how we apologize and how we are humbled. I think that this is actually a really good lesson because let me ask you this, to all of you that say I shouldn't be talking about this and I should be talking about something else, Would you rather learn from the mistakes of others, or would you rather learn from making your own mistakes? Would you rather learn by making your own mistakes in front of 100 million people, or be able to get the lesson vicariously through someone like Will Smith who's, um, you know, having the humiliation? Well, I'd rather personally learn from someone else, so seeing it as a case study. Okay, so for those of you just tuning in, Will Smith has resigned. From the Oscars Academy. Some are saying it's staged, some are saying he was going to get expelled anyway. Who knows? But actually, I think that it is an interesting moral and social dilemma. Lots of people judging, but none of us are perfect. But then again, Will Smith is someone that tens or hundreds of millions of people look up to, and you know, he's, he's been violent. So let me know what you think. In the comments. And yes, I will continue to talk about the rising prices of energy and gas and inflation and taxation and cost of living. Um, I will do that, and I think it's really important to do that because I think the taxes are far too high. I think the inflation is far too high. I don't think the government are supporting entrepreneurs and startups enough. I don't think the government did enough to support all the people being made redundant from P&O Ferries. I don't think the government did enough to support P&O Ferries. I think that corporation tax should not go up from 18% to 25%. I think the VAT should come down. National Insurance should not be going up. Income tax should not be as high as it is. The government should be doing so much more. And I will be carrying on to talk about that. But for now, breaking news today is Will Smith has resigned from the Academy, and the Academy are still reviewing disciplinary proceeds against him. And should he have his Oscar taken away? What do you think? Easy for us all to judge. Um, uh, let me know what you think in the comments. Let me have a look if I've not missed anything. Yeah, because look, I mean, if you are Venus and Serena and Richard Williams, you're going to be absolutely mortified by what's happened. This is attention you're probably not going to enjoy. Should Chris Rock apologize to Jada for the, you know, the joke, which, you know, you could argue is disrespectful and of poor taste? Um, are we all judging a bit too much? Or when people are celebrities and they have this massive influence, are they morally responsible to, you know, behave in a way that, um, befits their position? Let me know what you think in the comments. "Is it just a coincidence Pfizer sponsored the Oscars and have also developed a drug for alopecia?" That is definitely really interesting. Dina said, "Will Smith should lose everything." I don't agree that Will Smith should lose everything. I think that, you know, Will Smith should apologise like he has and have some humility like he has and is doing. They're going to punish him accordingly, according to what they think is right. I think the Oscars have done really well out of this because the ratings were really down. I think Chris Rock has done really well out of this because he's His ticket sales have gone up by a factor of 330 times. He sold more in a day than he did in a month. So they're not all losing out of this. So, you know, Oscars, come on, you've probably been given a lease of life. And Will Smith has done a lot for a lot of people, and we could all make that mistake. Monica said I talk too much. Well, you can always unfollow me, you know. So thanks for tuning in. Yeah, Will Smith is a human being. Easy for us all to judge. Maybe some kindness. Thanks for tuning in. Hit the share button. Let me know what you think. Will Smith must go to prison. Come on, go to— well, I mean, that's up to Chris Rock, isn't it? And he declined to give a statement to the police about that. But of course, violence is not a joke. Absolutely is not a joke. Yeah, I agree with that. Better to resign than to pull out. Ricky Gervais would need a bodyguard. Okay, here's what Will Smith said. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and excusable. Inexcusable. And the list of those that I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance and global audiences, at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements. He concluded that change takes time, and I'm committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason. So, um, Chris Rock has said he's still kind of processing what happened. That's what's happened. Will Smith has resigned from the Academy. What do you think about it? I do think it raises some interesting moral dilemmas. I do think it's a good discussion point. I would encourage you to share this and keep this discussion going. I think that it's awful what's going on in Russia and Ukraine. You know, COVID and lockdown and the governments and their parties and the ridiculous high taxation and inflation and cost of living. But isn't it nice just for a day not to have to talk about that and to talk about something else? Um, Reyes asked, what do I do? I'm an entrepreneur. I've written 18 books, a host of the Disruptive Entrepreneur and the Money podcast. I own the UK's largest property training company, Progressive Property. I own a business training company called Progressive Success. Um, yeah, Alan didn't realize the Oscars were on, so the Oscars have had really good publicity from this. A lot of people think that it was staged. I really don't think it was staged. Let me just, um, summarize with Will Smith's apology and his resignation from the Oscars. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. Um, the Academy said it accepted the resignation, would continue to move forward with disciplinary, um, proceedings. The list of those I've hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of his dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work, and I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back to those who deserve attention for their achievements. Change takes time, and I'm committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason. Let me know what you think in the comments. Really value your opinions and thoughts. Let's talk about something else for a day, and then let's go back to these maybe wider world issues like increasing cost of living, increasing inflation, inflation, increasing taxation, talking about what's going on in Russia and Ukraine, and hoping that we can promote peace and not war. I'm definitely, you know, for all of that, and for freedom of speech and freedom of information, and not being canceled and not being deplatformed and not being banned from social media channels. Um, I am definitely for all these things, and I will continue to comment on these things. And if you want to start and scale your business, get better financial education and knowledge, you're in the right place. But you know, slap is violence, and you know, violence is something that obviously shouldn't be promoted, I would have assumed. Thanks for tuning in. Make sure you hit the share button right now. Um, uh, yeah, let's look into the Partygate fines. Thanks for tuning in, everyone, and remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
