Embrace True Financial Freedom with God’s Ownership Principle

In this episode of the King’s Council podcast, hosts Rylee Meek (Speaker A) and his co‑host (Speaker B) expand on the Kingdom‑money principle that "God owns everything" and explore how that foundational truth shapes Christian stewardship, generosity, and financial freedom. They begin by urging listeners to revisit the first episode, which laid the groundwork for the series, and then dive into the theological premise that salvation is a gift, but after receiving it believers are granted authority to exercise dominion over the material world. The conversation weaves scriptural references—from Genesis’s creation narrative and the plural‑self‑existing Elohim, to Genesis 1:28’s command to have dominion, to 1 Chronicles 29 where David’s massive generosity funds the temple, and Psalm 24’s declaration that the earth belongs to the Lord. They discuss practical implications: the need for Christians to own (i.e., steward) real estate and territory, the importance of tithing the prescribed 10 % while recognizing that the remaining 90 % is still God’s, and how a mindset of abundance versus lack fuels kingdom‑building. The hosts critique modern church giving practices that feel coercive, contrast them with joyful, sacrificial giving, and highlight the “kingdom economy” where one person’s increase benefits the whole body. Personal anecdotes, pop‑culture references, and humor are interspersed, but the core message remains that recognizing God’s ownership unlocks true financial freedom, encourages generosity, and prepares believers for future stewardship teachings. The episode concludes with a preview of the next topic—stewardship—emphasizing that true stewardship flows from the ownership principle.
Chapters
Foreign, Everybody. Welcome back to another episode of the King's Council podcast. We are on part two today.
Part two, baby.
Part two of a topic that I love to talk about.
Your favorite.
It's my favorite Kingdom money principles. We are diving into this. If you haven't listened to last week in a. Encourage you to go back and listen to that one because we kind of laid the foundation here.
I'm going to encourage you to go back to episode one.
Yes.
Start from scratch.
Like from four years ago or.
Yeah. How many episodes have we done?
Close to 200 now. Yeah.
You've done many of them. Most of them solo.
A lot of solo ones initially.
The best ones usually have me with you.
Yes. So much better. I think the audience would agree, too.
I hope so.
Sometimes just a talking head. A lot of them were just like. I mean, let me just tell you this. Like, if you want to learn, better start a podcast.
Right?
Right.
Teach about the Bible.
Yeah. If you want to dive deep, you learn and you consume things to teach.
Yeah.
Right. This is why anything that you. You learn, like, the moment you start to teach. All of our coaching calls that we have on, like, one of the encouragement is like, take this now and go teach it to somebody else. Because that's when you can really start to own it and master it.
Yes. Own it.
Own it.
Yes, yes, yes.
God owns everything.
Yes. That's called the segue.
Thank you.
Let's talk about ownership.
Right? Yes.
I wasn't saying, like, you're stupid. Let's talk it to the audience.
You're like, let's get this show started already. Will you? Will you? Well, here's the deal, guys. We are. We're diving into kingdom money principles. And I think this is the most. The. The foundationally, the biggest concept or principle that we have to abide by, as we. We talked about last week, is all of these principles have to work synergistically. Right. If you want to walk in true freedom. Right. You've been given. It's by none of this, by the way, let's even, I mean, mention this. None of this has to do with salvation. Right? Right. Salvation is a gift from God. Right. It's a free gift that we all get to experience if we make that choice. Right. If we repent, we believe in our hearts, we confess with our mouth, we will be saved. Scripture tells us that. But now, once you've experienced salvation and you've received that, now you get to walk in this authority. Right. This kingdom authority that I think a lot of Christians just. They're not doing right. They're not taking advantage of. They're at. They're standing at the door of heaven. Right. Of the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God. As Jesus is ruling present, rule and reign in our life. They're standing at the door when God's like, hey, come, come play. Let's you. You have such authority. You're just not owning it. You're not actually walking in it. Would you agree?
Yeah. And the Bible says that some will make it to heaven as through a fire. So, like just getting in by the skin of their teeth.
Yep.
It's like, I don't want to be that guy.
I want to be that guy.
It's still better than the alternative of actually being in Everl Lake of fire. Yeah, but still, who wants to be that guy?
Yeah.
Especially when the millennial reign, the thousand year reign, where we're going to be that. I mean, we're going to function here on this earth in the millennial reign, and we're going to hold offices based upon what we do here on earth.
Now, are you going to be like a general?
General.
General or. What do you mean offices?
I'm in the Lord's army. Yes, sir.
I never learned that one.
Oh, Go Fish. Dude, do you know Go Fish?
Yeah, bro, that's. Oh, that's like. That's good. Those guys are. Forgot about them.
I got a whole playlist for Azzy.
Are they still around a lot?
I don't know. I looked them up to see if. Because, like, they're live things. Concerts and stuff.
I saw them live, man. Did you? Yeah, when I was probably like 16, 17.
Well, it's a little old for that, isn't it? Isn't it more like little kids? I didn't see anything when I. When I saw the videos of them from their live concert. It was all like 12 and younger.
Maybe I was taking a. My nephew or something.
Yeah, you were mentoring somebody.
I think it was at a. Like a.
You went right after you hung up your Vanilla Ice poster.
Yes. Yeah, I wasn't even following the Lord with Vanilla Ice, bro. Obviously I had his poster, so.
Well, you could be a Christian and.
Yes.
And listen to Vanilla Ice from time to time. I guess.
Yes. Yes.
Set up an idol in your room to look at and worship.
Didn't hang the darn thing.
I know, I know. I don't necessarily believe that, though. What?
You know, I would not lie to you. I know there's anybody I wouldn't lie to. You know, it'd be.
Oh, thanks, man. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, likewise.
We pounded well there. Pause. Don't edit that out. Yeah.
Some people are just listening and don't know that we actually pump fist. Well, we.
Since we talked about it on last week's episode, I wanted to at least address that.
Right.
Knuckled.
Right.
Whatever it is. All right, Kingdom money principles. Guys, here's the deal. When it comes to money, when it comes to wealth, possessions, so many of us, if we're really, truly honest with ourselves, I mean, it owns us, I think if we're truly honest with ourselves on. On how wherever we're at with our walk in the Lord, like, a lot of it, it owns us. And we spend a majority of our time, like, trying to create more money, trying to create more wealth, only to spend it on things that just fade away. Right? Right. They wear out, I think. I mean, I got, like, eight air conditions in this house, and it's like they wear out. They. You have to just continue to replace them. Those things are expensive, man. But we're. We're constantly investing into things that are of this world. Right? We know that we talked about last week. We ain't taking anything with us in this world. And a lot of our life is. Is. Is built and spent. The time that we spend is. Is just really built around all the stuff that will eventually just fade away. And in this episode, I think probably the most important words that you will probably ever hear coming out of my mouth, I don't know if that's true, but very important words that I had to grasp and I had to really, truly understand this. Three very important words. God owns everything. Right? And when you really understand that there is such freedom.
Yeah.
There truly is freedom. It's like a. Huh. Wow. Right? Because I know if he's going to take care of the birds of the air, the lilies of the field, how he dresses them so stinking well, how much more is he going to take care of his own child? Right? And when we. But that's a. That's a responsibility that we actually have to take on, and we have to. We get to own that. Right? Under God's ownership, we now have rulership here. And when we start to walk in this thing, there is incredible things that God wants to and will do through you if you submit to this concept of ownership. Right. So let's dive into this today, man. Yes. Here we go. All right. So I know we're going to eventually talk about last week. We kind of ended it saying we're going to dive into some actual, like, stories in The Bible because we kind of pulled out scriptures, which is, that's, that's great. We can pull those scriptures out. They, they fully fueled our, our points last week.
That God owned, set the foundation.
Yes. It was like mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, Finding Nemo episode that we had. And it was. God is clear. Like he says it. I don't even, I don't even know how many scripture verses there are of him just making that declaration that he owns everything, but it's pretty clear he owns everything. And this is why we, we have to grab a hold of this to truly understand the intentions of our heart and why we're even, why we get to even be here. Right. We don't. None of us have to be here. None of us have to even submit to this, this rule. Even if you are a follower of Christ, you don't have to submit to this concept. Right. I believe you still will be saved. But there is a indwelling Holy Spirit inside of you that fully knows this. And it will continue to pull at those heartstrings until you fully understand this. Like, we know that we have been sanctified, but sanctification is also a process. Right. Scripture says that we have been sanctified with Christ. So it means we're literally set apart. But this is a process now that we get to grow through. And that's why discipleship is so stinking important in our life, that we are continually growing, we are continually progressing and in the transformation to be more and more like Him. Yes. Each and every day of our life.
Amen.
Amen. Let me, let me start here because I took some notes that we didn't really get into on last week's episode. But what I love so much, Genesis is my favorite book of the Bible. It's clear there's. Because there's so many principles of. Just like when God was creating everything. And then ultimately what we get to walk out now, we. There's incredible concepts throughout the entire New Testament, but I just think there are so many principles that are built within the New Testament. And in the beginning, right? God, it's like in the beginning, right. This isn't a baseball joke of beginning, but it's like in the beginning, God, he was, he always has been, he will always be. And then now there's a time, a point in time in which he created time for us to exist here and today. Right? Right. So God meaning Elohim, meaning self existing, self sustaining, it's a singular entity that is plural, which is like weird to graphs like, what, what does that even mean it's a singular entity? But it's plural, Right? Elohim.
Kind of sounds like trinity to me.
Yes, sir. From the beginning, it was always is and always will be. Right.
That's why he referred to himself as We. Yeah. In Genesis.
Yeah.
We. Like, why would God say we, We.
We. We.
He ain't French.
French.
Yeah.
Pardon your French. So, again, the fact that he always was, is. And then he created. Right. He continued to create. And, I mean, you look at. I'm wearing boots right now, I think of the Toy Story movie. Andy. Right. He wrote his name on Andy's. Andy's boot. Or not Andy, but Woody's.
Okay. I'm not familiar.
You didn't watch Toy Story yet.
No.
What?
No.
It's interesting. Elliot was not a fan of Toy Story.
No. Well, it's a bunch of toys that come alive, right?
Yeah.
A little demonic. Sounds like witchcraft to me, quite frankly.
It's a good show. The. Like, the first and second one probably good.
Oh, there's multiple.
Yeah, bro. Yeah. Okay. By the way, I'm just gonna announce this and confess to everybody. I am on part 3 of Lord of the Rings.
Okay. Really?
Yeah.
Okay. Well, actually, that. You know that that's somewhat biblically based, right?
Yeah. I'm trying to. I'm. I didn't like.
That's what I hear. I never saw.
That's what I heard, too. I've been watching it. I've been trying to, like. I'm trying to just, like, understand, okay, what's the spiritual. Like, what do they. What's the meaning behind this? I don't know. Yeah.
I mean, is it as spiritual as the Lion King?
I would say no.
Yeah, Lion King. That's good. I haven't shown Ezzy that one yet, but I think he'll appreciate it, knowing, like, the.
Yeah, because you could actually explain. Right.
Yeah.
Because, I mean, you could watch Lion King and you don't correlate the two at all, but there are so many, like, spiritual principles within that.
Yeah.
Yes.
And then who is it? Mufasa. That's the main tiger lion.
That was his dad. That was his dad, right?
His name. Simba.
Simba. Simba, right.
Yep.
Yeah.
He's going to be calling me Mufasa if I show him that. For sure.
But you die, bro.
Well, he's okay with that. Sometimes I play Goliath and he slices off my head after he hits me with the slingshot. So he's okay with death, right?
That's true.
Yeah.
That's true.
If we're role playing.
Just don't let him be or let him make you. Oh, he's the uncle. It's been a while since.
Oh, the evil one.
Yeah.
Scar.
Scar. Yeah. Good memory. Yeah. Yeah.
Good.
Yeah. So any people are like yelling at the audio right now, it's Scar.
Right, you idiots.
Or get on with this movie. All right, so again, God created everything and. And then he gave us that command, right? Genesis 1:28. I mean, this is kind of what the king's council is even built around. Is that to be fruitful, to multiply, to have dominion. If you want to walk in dominion, this is the understanding that we have to. This is. This was his original intent with Adam and Eve, is that they didn't own anything, but they had rulership. And we still have that ability here to have rulership on this wicked, gnarly earth. So First Chronicles is not a book that you just don't hear it referenced a lot. I don't. At least with, you know, when I listen to sermons and pastors and different things like that, I don't hear reference a lot. But there's so much meat within this book. And for those that don't know, this is really. We're going to dive into David here, and he's really kind of more towards the end of his life, like towards the end of his reign. We know Scripture tells us that David, of all people, who jacked so many different things up, right? Whether it was, you know, killing Uriah. Uriah, Uriah. Only because he slept with Bathsheba and he's like, oh, crap, now not only did I just commit adultery, now he has a dude murdered. He like double dosed, sinned. Here's a good idea. If you're in sin, you don't bought it out with more sin.
Right?
Right. You repent.
Well, that's what happens when you sin. Sin begets sin. Darkness begets dark.
That's true. Yeah. That is so true. And this. But scripture tells us that David, of all people was a. A man after God's heart, right? And it's like how this can't. This dude, right? But this is also the same David that defeated Goliath, that was willing to step up to a challenge that was, that was, you know, willing to freaking shut the lion's mouths, right? Like, I mean, it's incredible the things that. The power of God that he walked in, the authority that he walked in, yet he still was a freaking train wreck.
Yeah. Yeah. Let me promote this app real quick. Minnow M I N n O. It's biblical kids content. It's phenomenal. And they actually, this past year they put out a series called Young David where the animation is like Disney Pixar level and it's so good that, you know, they only made them like six minutes long each. But that's all to preface a feature. Feature film that's coming up. But Young David is so good.
So they're gonna take all of those little small chunks and then make that into a full.
Yeah. I think it's just David the movie. I think when he's. Well, I mean, not just a young boy, but probably he'll start like when he kills Goliath.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm surprised it hasn't been like a good one made of that yet. I know this is animated, but eventually maybe the chosen will get to it once they get through the Gospels. Right?
Go back in time.
Yeah, maybe. I don't know. They do. I mean, they do what? They do a great job.
They do.
Right. And yeah, it's just some of those Bible movies that are all made in like the 70s and 60s, 80s. It's just like. Oh, right.
And then some of the secular ones where it's like a big box office hit.
Yeah.
Of like Noah or somebody.
And it's totally, totally not biblical. Right. It's like. Okay, right.
Just call it a different guy and just. Right, yeah, there was a flood.
Great.
But just call it a different guy. It's a different story. Fiction.
Right. Yeah. So anyways, Minnow, check it out. Okay, so back to First Chronicles. This is chapter 29 specifically. And this is David again towards the end of his life, toward the end of his reign. The dude has amassed hundreds of millions of dollars. Right, right. In today's age, we actually even have this stat somewhere in here.
I believe it was 200 to 800 billion.
200. So yeah, that was gift would be worth. Right, bro? So that means he's like a quad brilliant hair.
Well, I think trillion would come next. A quad brilliant.
Yeah. Yeah. But this is incredible. So what David is doing here in 1st 1st Chronicles, chapter 29 is he is really setting off a chain. Like he. He lights the spark here of generosity like beyond belief.
Yeah.
And it's. It's incredible that I just. I love it too. He's lived this entire life. He jacked a ton of things up. He did incredible things, but his heart was still for the Lord. Yes. Right. And they were. Is to the point where they were constructing essentially the house of God right at that time. And it's going to take money to do that. Right. This is an important principle, important concept for us. Understand that it takes money to take. To take physical territory, which I believe we are called to do as Christians on this earth. To literally take territory. That means real estate.
Yes.
Right. That's how we have to have dominion. Like that's what I believe it is. Right. It's not just like, I'm gonna pray for you. Like, no, we need to occupy. We need to take space. We need to. Because if we don't. Right. If you're. Even if you're a pastor right now and you're renting your. You're building, I'm sure some of you during the lockdowns were like, oh well, our landlord said we can't meet, so I have to go to do it. Well, you should have taken territory.
Yeah.
Right. Like you. But for those that owned their building and they weren't buying into the garbage that was going on. They. They met and they, they. Because they. They physically owned the real estate that they actually lived in. Right. Side side note on that.
So David.
But the concept, the understanding is like it takes incredible wealth to. To make that happen. As David. Man after God's own heart. Oh. Interestingly, prosper the prosperous life that he was still living even though he was a wretched man at the same time he had his heart was in the right position and a byproduct of that was tremendous wealth. Yeah. Wow. I don't think that's a coincidence at all. Right. And. And then he. Coming towards the end of his life, he gives the estimate you mentioned, between 200 to $800 billion. That's a freaking lot of money.
Yeah, yeah.
Right. That billion. To have that, let alone. Right. To steward that amount, let alone give that amount. Right. You know, there's still left over. Right, Right. Because if we know his son was also the richest man that ever lived. Right. Doesn't. Does the Bible actually say that he is the richest man that will ever live?
I don't think so.
Okay. But that once. But I think I heard somebody say
that I could be wrong, but I would assume that he was. And I think about how much money or gold or silver is actually on this earth. You know, it's like if one man could have all that money back then or have coins or bars or whatever it is, that that is that valuable. There's a lot to go around.
Yes.
As Christians, we shouldn't think that if I am creating wealth for myself, I'm taking it away from somebody else.
100. I'm so glad you just said that. Yeah. Yes. Because this is, I think the mindset that we have when we start to focus on lack. We think that in order for us to have more, somebody else has to have less. That ain't kingdom. There's just, that's just, that's not kingdom concept. That's not, that's not biblical at all. Because again, we serve a God that literally owns everything. A God of more than enough. The God that owns a cattle on a thousand hills. There is no lack of in the kingdom. Right. So you excelling, you creating wealth. I mean, first off, money today is, is freaking made up. Money even back then was still. Even though it was a different weight of measure, it was still a value that man placed upon it. Right. That's what money is, is even now. Right. It's just the piece of paper is completely worthless unless there's a value associated with it. Right. So money isn't, it's, it's nothing. You could be the richest man in the entire world, but if you live on an island and you don't have anybody to exchange it with, you're pro. I was gonna, I was gonna say broke and then I thought poor at the same time. It's like you're pro, you're broke.
Right.
It's like that. It's. You have to be able to exchange value in order for this to happen. And this is, I love just how money incorporates with. It's only good in relationship as well. Right. Otherwise you light that crap on fire to make your next meal the only one on that island. Right, Right. Because it's worthless. Yeah, right.
And for the kingdom, if you are creating more wealth and you have more, then more people will have more. If you are living a kingdom agenda. Right. If you know what the kingdom is and think back in the book of Acts where everybody got saved. They started selling everything that they had so all their brethren could eat. All their brethren could have houses, all the brethren could be taken care of. So in the kingdom, if I'm provided for, then you're provided for. He's provided for, she's provided for. So the more money I could attain, I'm not thinking about taking less. I'm not taking out of anybody's mouths. There's more mouths that's going to be fed because I have more.
Heck yeah.
And if, imagine if the whole church
thought like that, right? Yes, absolutely. And this is, this is why we, we're talking about this too. Because our heart and our intent behind this is to be the spark for the kingdom economy. Right. And you don't even have to, like, think spiritually on this. You just have to be a. You don't have to be a mathematician. You just have to know addition and subtraction on this thing. Right. Well, I guess. You multiplication, right? Yeah. But it's pretty simple. You don't have to know math. It works. You just have to trust the process that it works. When I sow into another brother in Christ or sister in Christ, assuming that they're stewarding appropriately. Right. But again, I think you mentioned this. Maybe it was last week's episode where it's like, hey, our job is obedience. Right. When it comes to the tithe, when it comes to generosity, if God told you to do it, yeah, freaking do it. Right. The Bible gives references of sowing on good soil. So we should choose who we should do business with.
Yeah.
Right. Let's be intentional with where we sow those dollars. And the multiplication effect will actually take place. Yeah.
I can't stand when people say, I'm not going to tithe. Why should I give to the church? I don't know what they're doing with the money.
That's not your problem. Right? Right. Yeah. That's not your problem.
Yeah. And you'll. You'll be judged for that. That's a relationship between you and God.
Yep.
And transaction, when you give to anybody in particular, to whatever ministry that is feeding you spiritually.
Yes.
That is between you and God.
Yes.
100. So even to think that we could get off the hook by only giving 10. Right. Most people only give the measly 2%. Right. On average.
Right.
But to think that 10% is even enough. Read this passage that we're about to go over in First Chronicles. Because if you have a heart like David, and David knew that God owned everything because he knew it. He understood it, he grasped that concept. That's why he was able and willing to give so much. And his generosity inspired so many other people to give.
Yes. Yes. So I'm going to start. I'm going to start in verse 10.
Okay.
That's cool. There's. There's a few verses here. Title of it technically is David's Praise to God. Right. So again, remember, this is where David's nearing the end of his life and he is about to start a spark here for generosity that is constructing God's house here. So first Chronicles 29, starting in verse 10. Then it says, therefore, David blessed the Lord before all the assembly. And David said, blessed are you, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty for all that is in heaven and in earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head over all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you reign overall. In your hand is power and might. In your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. Now, therefore, our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name. But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you and of your own, we have given you. Right? Like, he owns it. Like your tithe. You aren't giving it back. He's lending it to you. And you're like, all right, God. Most people think like, well, I'm just. I'm going to do the 10%. Here's maybe a hot topic, too, for those that, like, think that you own the 90%, you don't. God owns all of it.
Right.
He's just letting you steward the 90%. If you're being obedient with the 10% now. And here's the thing. You can be a broke tither. This is back to these principles, or they operate synergistically. You can be. You can think, God owns everything. You can be a tither. And then if you're like, but this 90%, I'm doing what I want with it, you're gonna be broke. It's just, it's. It's just simple, Right. I mean, you may have some. Go play bingo like we do sometimes, right? Yeah. But the 100 of it is still God. The 90 of it, it ain't yours. It's still God.
Yeah.
And we, when we understand that, it makes these decisions that we make a little bit more meaningful.
Yeah.
Yes.
And think about this. God knew how pathetic we would be where he only is requiring 10%. Right?
Right.
So he could have made it 30, 40, 50. I mean, I think half is fair. I give you everything. Just give half back in a gesture of faith and a gesture of worship to show to me that you trusted me. Just give back half, and I will continue to give seed to the sower. Keep sewing it back to me.
Yep.
And no. 10. He's like, Please, knuckleheads.
They can only do that.
See, if they could do 10.
Yeah. All right. So picking back up. So again, for all things come from you and of your own, we have given you, for we are aliens and pilgrims before you, as were all of our fathers. Our days on earth are as a shadow and without hope. Right. I could go on and on with this, but it's. It's just so good.
Yeah.
That what he's doing here, if you continue to read this, it's like he's. He's lighting a spark within these people. And as. As we continue through here, we'll see. They're just. People just start to give.
Yeah.
Right. And they start to give, and they're. But they're doing it joyously. Right. They're not doing it out of obligation or like, you know, some churches, like, make you stand up and, you know, bring your check up front or. Weren't you telling me that once when it was like, it was so blatant, like, they were making it this, like, obligatory to actually do that? Was that you. That was telling me that.
I don't want to be stereotypical or anything, but it's kind of prominent in the black church. It'll be like $50 line, $100 line. Yeah. You know, there'll be different lines based on what you give.
Of all people's race shouldn't segregate that, too. Right. So. Oh, man. Yeah. So.
Yeah. It's not. I wouldn't do church that way.
That's just me. I don't know. Yeah. Because that's not. You're not doing it with a joyous heart at that point. You're doing it for show. You're doing it for the wrong reasons.
Yeah. 100%. Because if you're the person that doesn't. I. We. We went to a church. Our pastor got asked to speak somewhere, and we went. And when we got there, there was another speaker before him, and it was totally. It was just so prosperity gospel. And he actually, like, asked everybody come up to give an offering, and then he asked again to come up. And, like, this is before my pastor even got up and spoke. And I'm sitting there, like, he didn't know that. That this was what this type of event was about.
Right.
And I'm looking at him, he's looking at me.
Right.
I'm like, I'm not going to stay for this. That's what I'm thinking.
Right.
And, like, right when I had just had enough, he just stood up and started to walk out. And he knew, like, because we were with him, we were supporting him, we'd all walk out. And it felt so good when they were just asking people to come up for money. And you see people squirming in their seats, like, because some people just didn't have.
Sure.
You know, you go to a church event, like some sort of revival, whatever it is, you think you're just gonna experience God, right? No. You got to give at a lot of churches to experience God.
Like, mama needs a new Caddy, baby.
Right. And it's so uncomfortable. We just got up, and it felt so good to have every eyeball on us as we walked out of that church as a group. Yeah. It was so great. And I guarantee you that there had to be more people that followed us.
Sure.
There had to be everybody. You just had to be the first one to go.
Yeah.
And then everybody's like, okay, I'm done with this group.
You lit the spark Y. Yeah.
That's good. Yeah. One thing I want to point out, too, about this prayer blessing of David. Just read this. And when's the last time you spent time with the Lord and just blessed the Lord like this? Yeah, we just speak to him and declare his goodness.
Right, right.
And just praise him for who he is. Recite scripture when you spend time with the Lord, recite scripture back to him of his goodness and how mighty he is, how sovereign he is, how he is in control, how he does own everything, how he. He is good. He's righteous. He wants good for us. Just declare these things, and you get so much joy, and there's so much fellowship and intimacy you experience with the Lord when you simply bless the Lord in that regard.
Yeah. Because so many prayers. I mean, I'm guilty of this as well. It's like we. We come to God, and we are to come to him to cast our burdens on him. Right. But so many of them are like, God, help me with this, and, you know, let me do this. And if you actually read scripture and the prayers and the declarations that these guys are making. Yeah, man.
Yeah.
Like, that's the blueprint we need to follow.
And if you don't know what to pray, just go through some of these psalms. Go through this right here, this blessing
right here to read it. Just read it out loud. Yeah, read out loud.
Exactly.
Yes.
And it's. It's written in scripture. Yeah. But make it your own.
Yeah.
And what I love about it is it's so personal. And every time David says, says I and you and just that. Put yourself in those shoes, like, that's. That's you literally talking to God and talk to him as if nobody else has ever said these words to him. Because when you pray to God, you have all of his attention.
Yeah.
He's an infinite God.
Yeah.
You have all of his attention. Even though there could be 10 million other people across the globe that are praying just as fervently as you are. You all have as much of his attention because he has that capacity.
Yes. I'm gonna. I want to continue to read this. I was gonna pause there, but I. I just think that's so good for. Since you're just saying, like, let's just continue to read this out loud. So picking up in verse 16, it's, oh Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build you a house for your hol from your hand and is all your own right again, ownership. I know also, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart, I've willingly offered all of these things. And now with joy, I've seen your people who are present here to offer willingly to you. Oh Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our fathers man just power in this. O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our fathers. Keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of your people and fix their heart toward you. And give my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep your commandments. He's professing this over his son and your testimonies and your statutes to do all these things and to build the temple for which I have made provision. Then David said to all the assembly, now, bless the Lord your God. So all the assembly blessed the Lord God of their fathers and bowed their heads and prostrated themselves before the Lord and the king.
Yeah. That's so good.
So good.
I'm gonna pray that over, Ezzy.
Yeah.
Like, pray that his heart is loyal to you.
Yes.
Yeah. That's the way we need to be praying over our little ones.
Absolutely. Such power in this.
Yeah. And even before this, earlier on in the chapter, David says.
Oh.
Once he declares what he is going to give as this offering to build this temple.
Yep.
His generosity inspires other others because he says, who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the Lord? And it's a. You're not just giving because God is requiring you to give. You're giving as an act of consecration.
Yeah.
You're. You're just putting him on the pedestal of everything in your life. And it truly is an act of worship.
Yeah.
Which is one of the kingdom money principles that we'll get to.
Yes. Don't give too much.
Right. Right.
Gotta stay tuned. Yeah. And remember too, David, he wrote all the. These psalms, if you like. I'VE I'm one that I haven't really read through. Like, I've read them, but, like, to continually go back through the Psalms and, like, hear his heart.
Yeah.
And his. It's like, wow. Right? Yeah.
And you understand. It makes you understand.
You.
You mentioned earlier how some people think it's not fair. Maybe this was last week. It's not fair. If somebody could, you know, just say sinner's prayer at the end of their life and really mean it and get forgiven and experience eternal life because of it. It's not fair. Right. But when you. You see David's heart in these prayers, you're like, man. You understand where his heart is and why God is able to forgive somebody when they truly, with a true godly sorrow, repent and turn from those wicked ways.
And.
And God is always there. He's faithful to forgive. If we confess with a true heart and we're truly repentant, God is faithful. First John 1:9. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us of our unrighteousness.
First John.
Yep.
Bible study, baby. Yep.
First John. Yes. Shameless plug.
Yes. So we've been going through. We'd probably be done with that by the time Sears. Right. I mean, what weeks you.
I don't know. We just spent four weeks in chapter three.
Just in chapter. Right. But they're so. They're so good.
Three, Three weeks, maybe.
Yeah.
No, it's so good.
Yeah.
So good.
We've. I have so many more just, like, references to this. I mean, it's just we wanted to go through that example with you guys in with David and again, read through the psalms. Written this one down. Psalm 24:1 and 2. This is David again. The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein. For he has founded it upon the seas and establish it upon the rivers. Right. Like, that's his heart. And this entire time was like, God owns everything. Right, Right. And I think. I mean, even as a child, you think when he hears the news of Goliath, I mean, he literally spoke the words directly to them. He's like, no, I serve a God. Right, Right. And he's like, I'm gonna just take you down with these. These five smooth stones.
Yeah. He said. He said, hold up, giant. The Lord delivered you into my hands. Yeah.
Right, right. Perspective, baby. Yeah.
And then he ran towards Goliath. He ran towards them. Everybody else is scared to death. They don't want to come out from their caves.
Yeah.
When Goliath shows up, yeah. And he was like, he's thankful to God and. And I. I gotta believe he's talking junk just a little bit.
Right.
But the Lord delivered you into my hands because.
Right.
When you battle me, you're not just battling me, you're battling the God that I serve as well.
Right.
And to know that God that you serve is able to. To slay giants in your life.
Yes, man, Yes. I love it. And that God that back then is the same God today.
Amen.
A lot of us, we have giants in our life that we're just not willing to face. We don't speak to our mountains. We don't make these declarations by aligning our will with God's will. You want to know what God's will is? You start to read these scriptures and it's pretty clear what God's will is. And when you're. When your confession starts to actually fall in alignment with what the Bible actually has said. The cool thing about the Bible is not. It's not a story of what has happened, it's a story what always happens. Right. And. And if we really, like, understand that, it's like, oh, man. I mean, you could look through all these stories throughout the Old Testament of, believe it or not, the junk that we're going through today, it. It happened thousands of years ago.
Nothing new under nothing new.
Now, it may be different because we're seeing it on TV screens or things like that, but it's still the root of it. The sin of it is still. It's not new. It's not something that just all of a sudden, the enemy got a new idea. Right. He's coming at us with the exact same junk, and we can defeat it with the exact same principles that the Bible has given us. Yeah, right.
I mean. I mean, just think of human beings number three and four on Earth. Right. I mean, that. The evil and wickedness that. That was there with Cain and slaying his brother.
Yeah.
Because his brother by faith offered a better gift, better sacrifice.
Yes. We're gonna dive deep into that one too. Yeah. Love. Yes, yes. So many references that we could actually go through here. That was the big one that we really wanted just to.
Yeah.
Flow through, though, when it comes back to just money, I think, again, we're talking a lot about it because it's an important subject. But no matter, again, what you have, the little or the lot, it's still. God gave that to you. Right. Or lent it to you to actually steward. Right, right. And. And that is our responsibility. Right. It's The. The acknowledgment of ownership. Right. And. And then from there, it's going to flow into what we're going to continue to talk about over the next couple weeks, which is the kingdom money principle of stewardship.
Yeah. Stewardship is obviously huge in the Bible, and this is one of the. The kingdom money principles that is often talked about and taught at church. But that's the second principle we talk about because it means nothing unless you truly.
Yeah.
And you can't truly be a good steward until you actually come to the realization that God owns everything.
Yes.
You're just a steward. You're not an owner, you're a manager. You're. What is it that John Wesley said? He says when the possessor of heaven and earth brought you into being and place you into this world, he placed you here not as a proprietor, but as a steward. Yes.
That.
That was God's intention from the beginning, that. That we're his little stewards.
Yes. And I think the. The main principle here that I want us to take away from the kingdom money principle of ownership is it is a true reflection of lordship in our lives. And this is what I think a lot of Christians, they want Jesus as Savior, but so few of us want him as Lord. Right, Right. And we're trying to just, you know, receive salvation at some point in life, but the reality is salvation happens. Eternity starts the day that you actually commit your life to Christ. Amen. Right. And it's like. That's radical. It's like, holy cow, you are a new creation that day. Yes. Right. We know when our flesh leaves us, at some point, we will have these glorified bodies. But it started the day that you confessed and you profess Jesus not just as Savior, and that's the sanctification process here of. Of understanding lordship. And I think the main principle of that is God owns everything.
Yeah.
Yes.
In today's Bible study, we covered a scripture that. That we, as children of God, we pass from death unto life, which is totally different. Like, you think you live this life, you pass from life unto death. But no.
Right. We.
The moment, like you said, we say yes to the Lord. Yes. We pass from death unto life, and we will never die again. And there's a saying that goes, born once, die twice, born twice, die once.
Yeah.
So if you're just.
Yeah.
So if you're just born once onto this earth. Right. Born from your mother's womb, and. And that's it. You only have one birth. You're going to die that spiritual death and you're going to die a physical death. But if you're born twice, when you're born out of your mother's womb and born again, when you believe in Jesus Christ and you become a child of God, you're born twice, you're only going to die once. And that's a physical death, but you will never experience that spiritual death.
Yes. Does it change the saying from YOLO to yolt?
You only learned it twice. I like it.
Yolt, baby. It's gonna start. Just can make that. Make that. That's gonna go viral right there.
It's not as catchy as yolo, but, yeah, yolt.
All right. In ending, I wanna. I want to bring us back to how we started these. These episodes. The foundation we laid here was Ecclesiastes 10:19. Right. And which was money answers everything. And I think that this is a prime example of that. Right? Or a proper, maybe an easier for us to understand translation of that is money reveals everything. It exposes everything. Right? And that's. That's like. If we understand, it's like money isn't the answer to everything, but it gives an answer, right? It gives an answer.
Right.
Cream baby.
Cash reveals everything around me. Yes. Maybe get the money.
Yes.
$, y'.
All. Yolk cream.
Sounds like some geriatric medicine.
That's true. That is true. But again, Ecclesiastes 10:19, how we handle our money is. Is a representation of. It's an answer in our life. Is it. Are we. I redoing it? Because it's. It's that God owns everything. And we're going to now step into this next principle of stewardship well and responsibly because you can even. You can think you're being a good steward, but still not fully grasp this concept of owning. Because if you're stewarding it for your wealth and for what you can get and for what you, you know, think that you're going to be able to buy, you're not. You're not operating with. Within the full principles here within the kingdom. That's it, right? God owns everything.
Amen. Yes, amen.
With that being said, I'm excited for next week.
Get into stewardship.
Heck, yeah. I feel like we go entire year on that, those concepts, but we're going to. We're going to hone in. We're going to dial in. We won't go on too many tangents.
Probably will.
You'll have to stay tuned and see us on next week's episode. Sam.
