Good Deeds Won't Get You to Heaven... Here's Why

A YouTube monologue by Rylee Meek arguing that moral behavior alone does not grant salvation; instead, salvation comes only through surrendering to Jesus Christ. The speaker contrasts good deeds and religious discipline with the necessity of faith in Christ, cites Ephesians 2:8–9 and John 3:36, warns that morality can deceive people into eternal separation from God, and issues a call-to-action to connect (join kingscouncil.com) for guidance.

All right, let me tell you something. Satan, he doesn't care if you're a good person. He doesn't care if you, you volunteer. Maybe you go to the food bank, right? He doesn't care if you recycle your trash, if you're a good tipper, right? Maybe you even help the old ladies cross the street. He doesn't care if you're kind, if you're generous, if you're disciplined, or maybe you just are a well respected individual in your community. He cares about one thing, that you never bow to Jesus Christ. See, that's the deception that I think is damning millions of people. Satan's convinced our culture that morality equals spirituality, right? That being a good person is, is the same as being a follower of Jesus Christ. That if you live right, if you treat people well, you, you avoid the big sins in life, then you're going to be acceptable to God. And let me tell you, that is a lie straight from the pit of hell. Think about this. The Pharisees in the Bible, right, The Pharisees, they had impeccable morals, right? They followed the law meticulously, they were disciplined, they were respected, very religious and they were admired by many people. Yet Jesus looked directly at them and said, you are children of the devil. Not because their morals were bad, but because their morals actually replaced Christ. Satan's greatest trick isn't making bad people worse or even good people bad, right? It's making good people think that they don't need a savior. Think about it, right? The atheist who maybe feeds the homeless, right, thinks that they're, they're good enough without God, right? The, maybe the Buddhist, they meditate and they, they, they're very spiritual. They, they practice compassion. They think they're enlightened without Christ. Even the Muslim, right, they pray five times a day, extremely disciplined. And, and they think that they're righteous without Jesus. And even the moral Christian, right, they go to church. Heck, they probably even serve at church. They avoid all the, the big scandalous things and they think they're saved without surrender. All different paths, but same destination, Eternal separation from God. Why? Right? The reason for this is because morality doesn't actually save. There is only one, one person who actually saves and that's Jesus Christ, right? If you guys remember In Scripture, Ephesians 2, verses 8 and 9 actually tells us this, that for by grace we are saved through faith and that not of ourselves, but the fact that it is a gift from God, not by works. So no man should actually boast, right? That's in Ephesians. Okay, now what, what Satan does, right, is what I believe he does at least, is that he loves moral people, right? Those that are very moral in their community, yet they reject Jesus. Heck, they're probably his best advertisement out there. They're living proof that you can, you can actually be kind without Christ, you can be generous without him, right? You can actually be disciplined to an extent without the Holy Spirit, right? Even be respected, yet without redemption. And you can still be extremely lost, right? The most dangerous people in hell, the most dangerous people in hell, they're not going to be the murderers and the rapists. Those that we think are, you know, so evil. And they are, right? But the most dangerous people in hell are going to be the moral, the upstanding citizens who thought their goodness was actually enough, right? Who thought their morals, which ultimately became their idol, that. That goodness became their God, right? And Satan, man, he probably laughs at this because ultimately he still accomplished his goal. He's kept them, he's kept you from, from relationship with Jesus Christ, right? Which actually leads to eternal life with him. Okay, here's what most Christians don't understand. The enemy doesn't need to make you do bad things. He just needs to keep you from doing the one thing. There's really one thing that matters, and that's surrendering, submitting to Christ. Because if he can get you to, to trust your morals instead of Christ's, like sacrifice, right? To rely on your goodness instead of God's grace, believe in your works instead of Jesus's finished work on the cross, then he's already won, right? See, you can live a moral life and still die lost. You can be a good person and still face judgment, can avoid all the big sins and still end up eternally separated from God. Eternally separated from God. Because the only sin that actually damns you eternally is rejecting Jesus Christ. John 3:36. I know most of you know 3:16, but John 3:36 says this. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. Whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life. But the wrath of God remains on him. The wrath of God remains on him, okay? The murderer who ultimately repents and believes in Christ, they've been redeemed. The thief who, who even turned to Jesus on the cross, he was not damned to hell. Jesus said that today you will be with me in paradise. The prostitute who actually washed Jesus feet, her tears, right? She was actually restored. Yet the moral religious person who rejects Jesus as the Christ is eternally separated. This is why Satan loves morality. Without Jesus it sends people to hell with a smile on their face, convinced that they were good enough. So today I'm asking you to stop trusting in your morals. So your goodness isn't going to save you. Your works aren't going to redeem you. Your morality is not going to justify you. Only the blood of Jesus Christ will. Only the blood of Jesus can actually wash away your sin and make you acceptable to a holy God. Everything else is just Satan's distraction. It's a distraction from the one thing that actually matters, and that's Jesus Christ.
