Everybody welcome back to the king's council podcast where you guys know we have unfiltered conversations about culture, right? Current events and really we do that from a kingdom perspective to impact culture and ultimately transform lives. And today man, I am excited about today. We are so blessed to have a guest joining us. Someone who man, I've been reading up a lot about him here. Someone who just seems like, oh, really embodies faith, right? You have very successful at business, Barry influence and what I think has become a huge passion for you now, which is evangelism, not just in theory but just in everyday life. So Barry Maguire everybody. Welcome to the show, Barry.
Well, thank you. And it wasn't business and dedication. It was passionate in the business that grew the business. I love it, I love my business. But my passion was for, for leading people to Jesus. You know I back in 19, would you believe it, I'm an old guy right back 1976 I with Ms. Karen I've been sharing our faith a lot and having a lot of success. Non traditionally not following the rigor programs but just loving on people and, and I thought God was leading us into full time ministry. And so I closed the door to my office one day and I actually prayed the most fervent prayer of my life and I said God, you need to tell me what you're all gonna do with my life. I'm just starting this retail side of my business. We were all professional and God inspired me to go retail and I just launched and we're just getting going and lots of challenges but I saw miracles. I was excited about it but the faith state of my, the, the faith sharing part of my life was, was even more exciting and I thought that's where God was leading me. So I said God, if you want me to go to full time ministry, I will, I promise you I will. I'll leave immediately but I almost have to hear from you in an audible voice. So I really know. But if I really know. So I prayed that prayer not later a guy rocked in my office. The secretary cables are David here to see you. Well, I knew David from afar. He went to my church. He's I knew because he spoke from the platform a couple of times and he was a missionary, he grew up in Africa, my same age. And so I had that frame of reference. So he walks in, hi Mary, how you doing? I was on the air, they thought it's not mine asked well how's it going? And so I made a knee jerk reaction that it's probably not under cool cars and shiny paint finishes my life. So I started telling opportunities I've had to share my faith. If anyone just happened the previous day, Jesus, God's giving you a wonderful ministry here. And he. And that was like, slap me in the face. I mean, he's like, what? Why, why would you say that? He said, because a pastor couldn't reach the people that you're reaching, but as a business that you can. And he came with this line, Riley, in 1976. I want. I'm on my 49th year of this. Okay, yes. It's obvious that your business, Business, folks, listen to me right now. He has the job. Your business is your focus. Yes. And it was at that moment really realized that these two passions of my life are one. We don't have two lives. God gives us one life to live. And so when I. He told me, I said, I can't believe I just, I just prayed this prayer about 20 minutes ago. He said, well, that explains it. I said, explains why? He said, why? I just left missionaries off at Orange County Airport. I was driving up Red Hill, which is the closest main street to my office at that time, and he said, God spoke to me, said, go see Barry McGuire.
Wow.
And right at the corner, I'd seen your office. I recognized the name in the building and connected with church. As I'm driving down that stage. He said, I, I told God, I don't know this guy. I don't know what kind of business. I don't know. I don't know anything. I'm gonna make a fool of myself. But God would not let me go. He compelled me to come into your office this moment. Wow. That was 19 6. This is 2000, almost 26.
Yes.
And you know what? My business is, my pulpit has been. And I recognize at that point, I, I, I love my business. I love cars or car guy. I love shiny cars and booking them. That's. But my life is not about that. But that is my pulpit. I use that, my love, my passions for sharing the Lord. And so as I've used that, he's plus my business, retail club of, you know, like, the largest thing going. And, yeah, God, for that, not for that. It's not about car wax, not about money, about shiny cards. It's about getting me a platform. A platform?
Yeah. Influence. Yeah. And for those that don't know, this is Barry McGuire from McGuire's Car Wax, like the number one car wax product or company in the world to just to give them a little background on, on, you know, who you Are Barry. I remember, man, I must have been probably 14 or 15, because you get your driver's license at the age of 14. Or he used to, at least in South Dakota, where I grew up. And I remember going to Walmart and, and, you know, finding that car wax and, and, you know, buffing up my, you know, 89 grand am back in the day.
Oh, my good. Okay.
Well, I don't know if I'm a car guy, but I, I do like nice cars, certainly. But thankfully I have other people wax my car now. I don't, I don't have to do that anymore. But I did want to give people just a background on, you know, obviously your business and, and your success. But even more than that, you just had told us this story here, but have you always walked with the Lord or when was that the, you know, the pivotal moment in your life where you saw Jesus as, as Lord of your life? I'm curious on that.
I did have a choice. And yet I did. It comes from both sides of my family. My, my grandfather, my dad's dad started a business. I actually have a book on systematic theology on my, on my desk. It's his book and it's penciled all over every page is notes. He loved the Lord. So I have that coming down from my father's side. Then my mother's side. Her parents were pioneer preachers in Texas where, where they actually the home that was the birthplace of church from the Nazarene. And so they're the most godly people in my life. And so much I could tell you about them, but they taught me. And then I was always under good teaching, powerful masters through my entire life who went to college that was powerful in every way. Godly, godly professors. And as it happened, I would as Nazarene to the moon. I mean, that's what I was and what that means. And at that point in time, that's the church. It's clearly a focus on holiness and sanctification, righteousness. I love that I grew up, I guess looking back, I grew up in a bit of legalism. And my point of view now is legalism wasn't all bad. I don't want to live in legalism, but at that point, I didn't want to go to hell there. Pretty straight as a youngster, you know. But when we moved from Pasadena, California down to Orange county, there was a Nazarene church. And as it would have it, God led us into an assemblies of God church. And when we walked in that day that was there every Sunday Morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night for the next 31 years. I ended up serving church and then serving this God in Springfield and actually led lay ministries, general counsel, Assemblies of God for a couple years and very cool missions board or whatever. So. And then I, I end up with best friends with David Wilkerson. Oh yeah, wrote the book Crosses Twitch Blade of course in the Founder Teen Challenge and we were best friends for 40 years. So God has been so unbelievably wonderful to us in every way possible. I have no excuse from my birth, from my birthing all the way up, from let's say it was business and profit. At that moment I just described that I realized that God is not just a Sunday God, He's a God of every day. He's a personal God. He wants to be in every facet of our life. And it is one life. We live our life and I have one calling. One calling. It's not my purpose. God didn't have a purpose for me. He doesn't have a purpose for each one of us. We'd be across purposes. He has one purpose. It's his purpose. His purpose is to seek and save the lost. And he tells us in Romans 8:28, when we live for his purpose, to seek and save the lost and love our neighbors as ourselves, when we live that, when that is the passage of our life and it is our, then everything works for good. Not necessarily for my good, but for good for him as souls and heaven. Yes, more, more tragedies and things than, than most. I left. We lost a 49 year old daughter who was the closest person on the planet to me and a prolific faith carer and card guy. I was in the hospital dying and the doctors, we don't have a lot of time. I just throw it out there real quick. I was in the hospital dying and doctors gave up on me and we had no fear. None, none whatsoever. In fact I told God, you know, I'm either way on this if I'm going to die trying to lead as many people to you as I can. And so everybody walked that door became my next project. I actually don't need the tubes at all. Who's the next person in the door? Separate use, don't use bad times. In the bad times. I think we grow spiritually in the bad times more we do the good times. And there's no question our testimony is more powerful in the times of stress. People, they look at me and they think, I've never had a bad day in my life. Oh, if I had Barry And I had this beautiful wife whose car I'd be praising God too. They have what we have been through. And I used to make $5,000 a year. And we've struggled and all that, but all that we had joy. And joy comes, folks. Joy comes from sharing your faith. You know, in John 15:11, he says, when you bear fruit. Listen to this. When you bear fruit, my joy with you and your joy remain full. Wow. I think that's one of the most underestimated scriptures in the entire Bible. I want to have joy every time. And we're 84 years of age and having more fun. We're celebrating our 62nd birthday, second anniversary today.
Wow. Today, the happy, happy anniversary.
And we're sitting last night talking about the faithfulness of God. We've just had the best year of our lives. We. I mean, God is using us. We're all over the country and doing things. And the best is yet, the Lord willing, the master of it. But how is it that we're having such great health, it's great energy at our age and having the opportunity to use our influence for him. How. How are we in the game? It's because we've been faithful. It's not because we're good or wonderful or arrogant or anything else just hoax. If you're faithful to God and faithful means honoring him. And he says, if you love me, keep my commandments. Then I said, what's the most important commandment? Most important is love me and love your neighbor as yourself. And that's what they seek to save the lost being concerned for their salvation. As you are growing. So when you realize any moment, you know this, right? And singing the song here. And at any moment we're in a relationship, we're surrounded by people who are lost. And everything we do and say. Folks, listen to this. Everything you say and do every day is moving. Everybody wants you're away from God, you. You can't get away from. You're in full 10. So you all have in. How are we using.
We.
We all have. You know, I say all witness or witnesses, prosecution. We need to guess and, and recognize that. That, that hell and heaven are in the balance for about 90% of the people around us every day. And that's the highest priority of our lives. That's what drags every day.
I love it. I love it. Barry, one thing you just said again, it's. Say it again, if you will. It's we are. I forget how you even even phrased it where it's. What did you just say? Because I, I actually had it in my notes. I was going to ask you about this question a little bit later. That.
That's the punch knife.
Yes.
Everything we do. I'll, I'll keep talking while you're.
Yeah.
Understand. Everything you do, everything, everything, from the moment you get up tomorrow, you retire, everything you say and do is moving. Everybody watched you closer, further away from closer, further away.
I love that.
That's. That shade. That's, that's a game changer. And you know what he said? Love me and love your neighbor as yourself. And he goes on, and that's all I asked of you. That's the only two. You do that. You do everything. Because if you do that, you'll satisfy everything else. Not out of legality or trying to earn God's favor, but out of the joy of doing everything I can to move people closer to Jesus. When you're doing that all day long, the thought of doing all this stupid stuff in life and indulging yourself or having bad words coming around or having an attitude that, that's so far removed, it's automatically removed from you because you're focused on the people around you, not what's good for you. Yeah, even that's good.
That's good. It's living just with like an, an intention. Right. You're, you're intentionally living knowing that, hey, this decision I'm going to make or, you know, every day, every morning you wake up, it's like I'm either going to get closer to God or further away. And it's your choice on a, on a daily basis that, that you get to make. So I love that you, you, you found it for me. So I appreciate you resaying that.
We all have input and if we use our influence, he gives us more influence. We're a large, you know, worldwide company. I can't believe what God said with our business, but he didn't do that. All his cars, secondarily, I mean, I think God likes in there. But the fact of the matter is that everybody knows McGuires. If they know us at all, they know it's family business. And most people, even if they connect, McGuire know something about Barry caring and you know, anything about us, we're serving the Lord. So the company becomes a testimony.
Yeah. I will have to say that I called my business partner this morning. We're. We're trying to get on a call later. And he. I'm like, well, I'm, I'm interviewing like, you know, Maguire's Car Wax. And he goes, barry Maguire I said, yeah, I'm interviewing him today. He's like, oh, man, that's amazing. So you do have influence. You definitely do, Barry. And he is a big car guy. That's for sure. That's for sure.
Our hobby is about 30 million strong. We are the car guys. Car wax. Nobody waxes their cars anyway. That car wax, what does that. But if you're a car guy, you wax your car about once a day, right? And so we had. That's our, that's our audience on a global basis, about 10% of the world's population. And we do that. I got to tell you, it, we have some pretty amazing products and created perfect on black paint, particularly a black heart page. So that's what we do for a living. We thank God for it. But it is our, it is our platform and produce globally. It's just amazing. How did you use a tiny little car wax? I was buffing cars. Filthy dirty body shops and car dealerships back in the 60s. That's how we did. All our entire business goes down. And I year after six years in business with family business and they didn't want to grow it and I had, I thought I wanted, I don't want to sit here doing this the rest of my life. There's got to be a better way. God spoke to me and literally said, so it compelled me to go retail. And I said, I don't know anything about retail, God. I didn't know how to book a Rigo with an electric lifter pumping cars in a shop. That's what I did. And he kept saying retail. And I said, well, I'm going to hold on to Proverbs 3, 5, which is my favorite verse coming out of Christian college. Trust the Lord with your whole heart and don't depend on your own understanding. And I said, that's easy for me. I don't have a fruit. Do it just you. And it's worked pretty good for the last years.
Yes, that is a good one. It, it, it, I think it just takes a, there's a sense of freedom even with that verse. And in all the scripture, really, when you, when you do just put your, your hope, your faith, your trust in the Lord, it's no longer reliant upon you. It just is. Like there's a weight that does get lifted off of you just living in, in that capacity. And so I love that I, I, I too have a heart as you do, where I want more and more people to, to feel, feel that and experience that full well. Knowing that the Christian Life. This is where I kind of want to get into some, into the weeds with you a little bit on this, on, on evangelism and just what the, what the church has, has done or made it over the past, you know, 30, 40 years of, you know, the, the seeker friendly gospel, if I want to call it that, within the church where it's like, give your life to, you know, Jesus and everything will be great. He has a wonderful plan for your life and I do believe he does from his perspective. But we still might experience troubles and trials. Like, I'll just real brief be, you know, six years ago when I truly made the commitment, I wasn't, I wasn't just looking to Jesus as Savior, but I, I looked to him as Lord of my life. I realized there was a disconnect for a number of years in my life. And my prayer at that time was like, all right, God, whatever it takes. Like, whatever it takes. Break my heart for what breaks yours. And man, I went through the wringer and he pruned me in multiple areas of my life, exposed a lot of idols that I had in my life. And it was extremely hard, but it was so worth it. And like there, there is joy, as you mentioned, that we can experience through those times when we give not just complete surrender, but like submission to the Lord. Like I'm submitting, Jesus is Lord of my life and I'm going to submit to this process. What are your thoughts on that? Of even just, you know, evangelists, tele evangelists, it's like, say this prayer and boom, you got to take it to heaven. But there's zero transformation in their life and they, they just think they're in heaven. What are your thoughts on that? I want to hear your perspective.
You give me about 16 servants that I did, I could. First off, the church has done everything to discourage us from sharing our faith. They've done everything. I'd say probably the most well known scripture on faith sharing is, let's hear those who are persecuted for my sake. Like, I don't want to be, I don't want that somebody else, right. None of us want to be persecuted. I, I, I've been sharing my faith every day, folks, for 50 years. I've never been persecuted. Now persecution happens. If, if you want to push yourself out there, God calls you. Put yourself out there as a Charlie Courage, you're going to get persecuted. Sure. If you're in the west bank right now, if you're, if you're loving it right wherever you, if you're in Europe Right now you're getting persecuted. I'm talking about American Christians right now. Yes. And people don't get mad at you. I don't care. I aim for people that don't look like me. I go for the ones that are as far removed from me as possible because they don't expect me to love on them. And do you know when you tell people that are angry and foul and whatever when you love them? No. When you tell them you know God loves you, they. They can't be mad at you. They can argue with you. I hear it all the time. Oh, God doesn't love me. What do you mean? Oh, after all, I'm done. God loves you, you know. Wait a minute. No, no. He loves you. I had on a plane with Karen and I were separated on a plane while back and God sat me next to a beautiful young lady and I pulled up my Bible. She said, oh, you're a pastor. I said no, I'm a businessman. But I love the Lord. She's. Well, God couldn't possibly love me. What do you mean you of course you know I went relationship with the. With another woman and I know he hates face. I just broke out laughing. She didn't. You don't know God very well, do youing? Faith is fun. We can all study hands of it's fun folks. When you, when you love on people age upon that it's all you have to do, just love on them. Mention God in some way. You know how much God loves you. That must break God's heart. There's a million ways to do without being offensive but lets them know your love is coming from God. And 100 of the time they will open up folks a hundred. Particularly now since Charlie's passing everybody's searching for God. So they're looking for somebody who knows God. Yep. And they will open up and they'll say something. Here's the best part folks. If you haven't done this, you haven't experienced true Christianity. Luke 12:12. The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say. I don't have to prepare, I don't have to memorize, I don't have to have all this. No, just let the Holy Spirit speak through you. And he will. Every time he'll put words in your mouth, he'll give you a scripture you don't even hardly know or you haven't even heard that scripture for years. All of a sudden you're quoting for freedom. At that moment, you know you're right where God wants you to be at that Moment he's giving the words. The person in front of you is changing. Folks, that's intimacy with God. That's how you know God. That's. That's how you experience God. And when you have that, your faith is through the rug. Nothing energize you. And I have those now. You know, if you wear green hair, you. A lot of people with green hair will come to you and communicate with you. When you're sharing, people who have this joy come and I would just have thousands of people coming to us. They're all over the place. You're having the same joy. If you're not on the bus, you need to get on the bus. It's so much fun. It's not unique. With me, this much promise to you, he'll fill you with joy and particularly in the bad times. So life is. Every day is an adventure. We have. Bad things happen. That has to do with happiness. It didn't affect our joy. We never have a bad day. Decades haven't had fear in decades. And fear is what I think is Satan's number one weapon against the church, giving us fear about all kinds of things, including fear. So he just neutralized us. And you might say he. He just keeps us from multiplying. What's the right word? But he just, he just, he keeps us. That's what's happened. The church now, it's small, old group, but you're surrounded by people. 90%, 90% of the people around, you're lost. How are you gonna know unless somebody tells you God loves them and they're not going to church. That means their only hope is us, right? Because we haven't been doing that really for the last 60 years. They're lost. They're not evil. They have an excuse. They're lost. Don't hate them. God loves them. And they're lost because. Stay lost, folks. You go around, you're going to stay allowed to just love them. Don't speak to them. Don't put her down. Do it with a figure. Put your arm around them and love on them. And they'll listen. And then God will give you the. Yes, that is the.
That is good. Yeah. I think fear, it is a, A stronghold that people have, you know, the fear of man. Fear, failure. Fear of what ifs. Right. And the real fear I think we need to have is the fear of the Lord. If, if there's any fear. And, and if you have that fear of the Lord, I think obedience will. Will come into play. But that being said, how would you encourage People, you know, that are. Most of our audience are believers. Certainly we have some that, that tune in every now and then just because they're curious, which is, is amazing. But how would you encourage our, our listeners that haven't really done that? Because it is scared. It's like the fear of the unknown or the what ifs or they do think that they're, you know, not equipped to do so. And I think you hit it on the head where it is like the Lord will give you what to speak. Holy Spirit. If Holy Spirit dwells within you, he will, he will give you the words to speak at the time. But what would you say to. Just to encourage them? Because I think our faith is kind of like a muscle, right? And it's like we do have to, to work it and, and, and build that thing by taking those steps of obedience. And more and more opportunities if we, if we come up, if we wake up with that intention that we talked about each and every day and we're looking for those opportunities, God will put them in your path. But then it takes you to be actually obedient to, to, you know, take action on those opportunities that he does give you. So well, how would you encourage people that maybe haven't done that in the past? Or what, what's, what's first step for them?
You asked so many great questions. I'm in tune with all of them. First off, remember this. In fact, we have a whole section of our website. We have a website called igniteamerica.com and it's full of faith sharing help. It's immense. I mean, I encourage you Write that down. IgniteAmerica.com on the site we have whole section of most scripted excuses.
I love it.
I'm not el. I don't know the scripture. I'm not gifted. I, you know, there's like 12 of them and we destroy them. The scripture. And get this. God didn't say go into the world all you who are gifted. Y. He didn't say go into the world all you who have memorized scripture. He didn't say go in the road. All you have been through an evangelism class and thank God for the evangelist class. But most of us don't go to evangelism classes and then use that as our excuse. There's no excuse. Yeah, there just is not. So he also didn't note this. He didn't say go in the world and read your Bible. He didn't say go in there. I'm talking about the Great Commission. He didn't Say, go into the world and pray. Hey, get this. He didn't say, go into the world and be a good person. You know that most evangelicals, I don't even know what the term means anymore, but most people certify themselves being evangelicals, believe that you can get to heaven by being a good person. They've lost the gospel all together. I mean, if you can earn your way to heaven by just being a good person, why didn't you die on the cross? I mean, it doesn't even make sense. That's the point. So the point being is, and I, I, I talked about a moment ago, but you can love on people. You can do that. You don't need any training, just love on. But, but don't just love on them. Walk away. They say, boy, yeah, Gary, what a great guy. Don't you love Gary better? They say that Gary, he's, he's different. There's something special about him. He's a Christian. That must be what a Christian. Maybe I want, maybe I need to know more about being Christian. We're his, we're his example. We're his witness on earth. We've been reconciled to God by Jesus Christ and we've been called to the ministry of reconciliation. Everybody, everybody you know, everybody you have influence over, that is your mission field. And you need to be doing every single one of them, not one a day. This. Find somebody to witness to. Okay? Out of all the people there to be with today that are on the hell, you want me to pick one? Do I get that right? And how do I pick the right one? I wanted my owners not don't go to hell, I guess. Doesn't make sense, folks.
Right, Right.
Doesn't make sense. Actions speak louder than words. These things. The church did I earlier us all. Actions speak a lot of words. They do not. It's the word of God that redeems people. It's not actions. Action speak before a word. So if you speak truth, but your actions, that attitude, that indulgence, that whatever doesn't match up, your words are meaningless no matter how prolific you are in speaking. But I don't care for you are. If you're, if your words are matched by your actions and they can see that your life, people listen. You have, you have authenticity. And people are anxious to find someone who's actually speaking truth. So again, when you do that, they will open up and they'll share something to you. And then the Holy Spirit gives you the word to say. And again, that's knowing God is working for you. That's intimacy with God again. Say it over and over again, I'll give you a switch. We're going to run out of time here. I need to give you this one. Romans 8:28 Mark that one down. Everything in your life, God promises you. It's not an idle promise. He's not playing with you. God promises he'll make everything in your life work together for good. Necessary for your good. You might die, but he'll let you die. For when he give it the Lord at the process right when you love him, it live for his purpose. Seek to save the lost jump Isaiah 43:10 if you don't write anything else down right through that. Isaiah 40: Genesis to Revelations. He says proclaim the good news. I tell people that's what he says. Yeah, but in Isaiah I find there's one scripture that tells us why. Why does he. Why does he hammer you all the time? Why does he nudge you all the time? Why he's completely all the time. I don't know why. It's the Lord. It's not hard as much, but he does it for you. Secondary Isaiah 43 Thus saith the Lord, I, I, I pointed you as my witness so that you will so wholehearted faithfully. If you don't have wholehearted faith, God doesn't answer your prayers. James 1 says if you're double minded and you're worrying and faith in don't expect me to answer your prayers, folks. That's, that's where most of you are right now. He says, trust me with your horn, I'll drink. You know, he hears our prayers. He directs the steps. He gives us joy every day, Lord. And under we get homework. That's the key of everything. And you touched on that earlier. And that when you share your faith, when you're living forgotten purpose, he tells you everything. Your life will work for good. That's the end of fear. No more fear. You talked about freedom. Thank you for saying that. It is freedom. I'm invincible. Nothing can happen to me unless they happen to me. And only then when Reagan poor so it doesn't matter what I get in in the worst case I know God's in it and he's put me there for some reason. There's something going on there. When you're in a situation, when you get flat tire, don't curse God because you had an appointment. Get ready to see what happened. If the guy comes to help you with your tire and he downcast you mark when you find out he just lost a sentence Drugs. He's desperate. And you witness to him and you bring of it restoration. You realize God allowed that tire. Whatever it is goes wrong. When things go wrong, I get excited. Okay. What's he up to you now? It changes your life. In fact, it ignites your life. I. If I could do a selfish plug or unsuit. But I wrote a book called ignite your life. Can I get that on the screen? There it is.
You got it? Yes.
And it's on Amazon. Amazon bestseller. But it. This truth will ignite your life. If you're not doing it already, I gotta tell you, it'll ignite your life. And if you start doing it today, I guarantee your Christmas will be a very merry Christmas.
Yes. I love that. Barry, this is great. In the book, I think it's this book that you've. You talk about defeating fear with effortless faith. Is that in the book, that book there that I mentioned.
Articulate. Because when you're sharing your faith, you have no fear and stuff that I. I trust you, God. I gotta trust you, God. My. I had a joint venture. My. My family were not car guys. Never waxed a car and hated me and tried to kill me and everything else. Finally sold a joint venture partner who had at one point decided you'd throw me out of my business. Over 65 years old. 65 years old. I. I couldn't start over. I had not planned financially because I was going to be in my business rest of my life. And now my venture, joint venture part, owns half my company, is throwing me out of my business, ending my income, my. My reputation, my testimony. It's over. Okay. Wow. Yeah. I'm at that point. Here's how I handle you. I pray the shortest prayer of my life. I said, God, I ask you for nothing. I ask you for nothing for two reasons. You know, I live for your purpose. I mean, every day, that's what I do all day long. You know, I live for your purpose. And I know you're under your word. And you told me, you told all of us when we. When we live for your purpose, not ours. We live for your purpose. You'll make everything work together for good. So I'm good. And as God is listening to me right now, I called in bed. I went to sleep immediately. I didn't toss compared. I never woke up. Woke up and I walked into my attorney's office the next morning expecting to see a miracle. And I did. We were taken in conference call. So we took each member on the conference call within eight minutes. God, so upset My voice, they were just happy this. And they couldn't. And I'm, I can hardly. But. And when it ended, I said, God, you forgot. I had no hope. Zero. But I had you. And that's why I had no fear. It was effortless. Why? Because I live every day moving everybody every day closer to Jesus. That's all it takes. It's like, I love it.
Barry, let's. I'm just reminded of, you know, Romans 12:2, that we are just to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Then we'll be able to test, you know, what God's will is. And so I think, as for Christians, that a lot of it has to do with a mindset that, that they take on. And clearly you've got this dialed in, right? Like you, you, you have been continually transformed by the renewing of your mind because your heart's transformed as well. Right. But it's, it is perspective that we, we have to choose. You know, and if, am I going to choose? Like, you know, the situation that you just said, like, you know, all hell's breaking loose, like they're trying to take everything. And it could be, you could go down this rabbit hole of what ifs, what ifs, what ifs. But it's like, no, God's, God's got this and his will will prevail in this. So I just love that man. I think a lot of Christians need to hear that more of, of just taking on that, that perspective that he's, he's got this in control. Life's not going to be easy. Right? But his grace is sufficient for you if you grab, grab hold of that. Right?
So you talk about intention being intentional and making that decision by tell you it's a one time decision. I mean, I have so many people I invite to church and they'll come occasionally. And when I call her, you come to church. Well, I have this, I have this. I have a family gathering. You can come all the excuses every Sunday. I explain. It's not a, it's not a 52 week decision. You don't make that decision. You make it one time for life. It's Sunday morning. I got so. And when it comes to sharing your faith and being in the game, it's not like, am I going to do it today? Change you just do it. This is my life.
Yes.
Every opportunity. I mean, that's just what I do. It's like breathing. It's just, it just, it's just what I do. And so when you, when you live in that Realm, there's joy. Nothing robs you of your joy. I mean it's just incredible way to live life. Let me give you one little piece. Pretty cool. At the end of the spontaneous conversations. For years, for decades I was leaving them in the lurch. I wh their appetite. But then I somebody else going to have 15 minutes away. I only had five minutes and they need a lot of help here. So I created a website called Seeking God and I put it on a card. So now we give these out free of charge. If you go to our website ignite America.com you could order these cards. They come free. There's no, there's no way you can't give us plenty of. And there's no sign ins and passports. It's just pure ministry. Okay. And also for this website, I'll show you in a moment. When you finish that spontaneous conversation, you leave this or what their appetite is what you've really done. And as you're leaving you like the lord my God 100% of the time they'll say yes because they do their forgotten now they finally found somebody when they're going around getting another life. You don't live in the church anymore. You say, well, if you'd like to know more about God, I have something for you. It's a. It's a website. If I can get it on the screen there. Can you see that?
We got it?
Yep. Seeking God.org. there you go. And I explained it's a website. If you go this website, there's everything you want to know about how much God loves you, how much he has a plan for your life. He wants his friend, the attorney to have me will take this card. I'll get that all off this card. Absolutely. I mean this, this is the coolest leave behind you've ever seen. They're free, get them for free. Just go to our website Ignite America and order them and carry them on you. I say don't leave home without there's a moment. You leave home without it. You're gonna be involved with somebody. Oh, where's one of those cards? Right away so you don't leave people lurch as I say but you actually with a fun. This, this will take them all the way to the center. Everything they need, all the questions are answered there. And a virtual spiritual pathway how to get them to the city center. So it's, it's fun. It's like sport, team sport. We can't necessarily get them saved in one moment. It takes a team run a team and it seems what reach slayer position and, and the goal is be intentional. Yes. But recognize you don't know if you're the first person or the 20th person in their journey. So you just want to move everybody. If only it stokes. If only you just put a soft hand on their. On on their arm and say God bless you and say it looking in their eyes. You don't have to time. They'll tear up. They're starving for what we. They're starving for. We just, just give.
It's so good, Barry. It just reminds me so one of our businesses, we have multiple sales guys that are out meeting with people every single day as well. And oftentimes, you know, I'll encourage them that we're there obviously to, to help these people to make a sale. But at the end of the day we're there to love on people and as Christians too. And so sometimes we just have to. We end up praying with them. Right. If we receive, you know, the prompting to do so. But also just as individuals listening. It's like sometimes we feel like man, this world is a train wreck. And it's like you can feel defeated and it's like what can I do? And it's like we may feel like we can't change the world, but we can change that individual's world if we are willing to take that, that step of faith and just as you mentioned, plant the seed. Just love on them a little bit because some are going to plant, some are going to water, but it's God that gets the harvest. And like that is our intention and should be our heart's posture and purpose in every conversation that we go into, every room that we enter into and imagine. Just imagine, Barry, I know you've imagined this. Like if, if every self professed believer of Jesus Christ walked with that, like Jesus started with 12 and see how far it's come from there. But man, it seems like sometimes we're losing the battle. We know we've won the war, but man, what if we just started to change that heart's posture in revival? Revival would absolutely take place. And I believe it has to happen here in America. Go ahead, Barry.
Also, zero didn't cost money and we could ignite America with revival in 30 days. There's 3 billion of us. We all start doing that. Let me give you a quick story. My last. Yeah. Which you emphasize. I mean you, you drag me right to it when we go into bank of sales. I, I had who nobody knew. A young kid out of my 20s. Oh, I had respect Me, I was a west coaster. I'm calling on the Jewish buyers and pains in the East Coast. They had no respect. Okay? So I, I, I knew that going in. I tried to get through and I really needed the business badly. I mean, I was desperate for the business, but I went into every sales call secondarily business and primarily closer to Jason. That's my goal for my whole life. And, and I used it in my business. And I would say to them when they tell me no, instead of getting mad, I would say, okay, I understand. You're breaking my heart, so I understand. And I'm going to do, I'm going to work hard to earn your trust. You put me in someday. I've listened to what you, I've taken notes of what you say I need to do. I got to do those tonight and I got to come back. But meantime, God bless you. Thank you for being a friend to me at the, at the big trade show of that year. Yes. After the second year, the, the owner of the major trade magazine came and said, we're going to have a get together tonight and dinner and I would like and Karen to come. We worked the whole show with just two of us in the booth. Now we have 40 people in the booth, but at the time we just threw them there. We were dead tired. No, we went, we had to go at the end. He's okay now. Time for awards and he's a certain guy. There's not this award. We love this award. Vendor of the Year. Vendor is somebody. If you sell somebody a product, you're their vendor. That's what the term vendor is going to. Vendor of the Year award. These are the, these are the major big box stores across the country. So I, okay, I wonder who that's gonna be. Well, this year, and of course you vote. We don't vote. We're just expressing your votes. But this year, the winner of our Vendor of the Year award is Barry McGuire. What, what do you know? I wasn't a vendor. I wasn't selling one of them. Each one of those buyers had all kinds of suppliers. All people are calling and then they're selling, buying their products, whatever. And they, they voted for a guy that's not on product. They gave me, I have a trophy at home right now that's three feet tall. That's my proudest trophy. Vendor of the year when I wasn't a vendor. Why did that happen? Because I didn't go after them to sell them product. I went after them. Move them closer to Jesus. And in the Process. I knew if I do that, make that priority. My priority. God will. God will bless my business. God will take it. He's going to make everything work for good. My priority is not selling Carlax, but moving people closer. Folks, if you do that with your life, you mandate yourself today. God, I want to start moving. Everybody's praying right now. We start moving everybody closer to Jesus. That's my life, we call him. You'll handle everything else. That's a game changer.
Amen. Amen with that. Yes. That's amazing. So you've mentioned your book. So ignite your life. We're going to put the links to these in the show notes and everything. Also you have a. And I want to mention these just because you have all these resources. You said seeking God.org incredible resource that people can send people to.
Right. And we have a, we have a fabulous. After you get through the book and you're ready for more, we have our ignite your life Bible study nine session Bible study that I actually lead. And you could, you can take it individually or better yet with a group. But it goes. If you get through that ninth session, you'll walk through walls and they build Jesus, you'll be so energized, you'll not believe how it will ignite your life. Really well.
Amazing.
Amazing.
And I'm looking. You have a lot of say. So ignite America.com ignite your life TV. Is that your.
No TV series? I'm interviewing with cars mostly, but I'm interviewing people who are prolific faith shares to get other people to tell their stories of how much fun they're having.
Oh, very cool. Very cool. Igniteyourworld.com. what's that one?
Well, you said it already. You said it so well. We can't change the world. We can't. So what are we worrying about something we can't change. But you can change your world. Yes, you can change your world every day, starting right now. And when you do that, when you have those stories, you walk away. Say, power is so exciting. Go to ignite your world.com hostess. And so your story will encourage other people to share their faith.
Yes. So good. And then seeking God.org. i'm just going to mention that again for people that I love that those little cards are easy to, to hand out. You're planting a seed and let the Lord get the harvest. So even better.
Better.
Barry. Well, this has been great. I mean, I feel like I could chat with you forever. Barry, your, your, your joy and enthusiasm is infectious. I'm sure you've heard that before, but praise God.
They should see God in us and want what we have, you know?
Yes.
And quite frankly, whatever we're excited about, we talk about.
It's very true.
I had a hamburger yesterday. One of the best hamburgers I've ever, ever had. I've been telling everybody about that hamburger. I'm excited. If you love God, seriously, it's a joke. But, but, but it's true. If you're not telling people about Jesus, you're not excited about Jesus. Okay, so this is what being a Christian is all about. The payoff is what it does for you folks. Living a life with joy every day, with no fear having, knowing God is directing your steps and he's making everything in your life particular good. I mean, what's your turn now? I mean, it could be a reason why you wouldn't want to do that. It all comes down to doing the one thing you don't want to do. Share my faith. I want to do that somebody else. That's Satan putting fear in your life and stop you from doing the thing he most spirits you being on your game and sharing God through you to everybody. You know, moving everybody every day. Everything.
Yes. So good. Well, thank you, Barry. Appreciate having you on the show. I'm sure we'll, we'll chat more here in, in the future.
I love to do.
I'd love to just get to know you more and more and, and need.
To interview you at my podcast because I want to hear more of your story. You got a bunch of stories there. Just you be told to our audience.
Sure, let's do it. We'll do it. We'll get it. We'll get it scheduled then. So. And for the rest of our listeners, thank you guys for joining us today in the chat. And go to these websites, check these out, equip yourself right? Knowing that, hey, the word of God, you don't have to be an expert, right. That will come with time. But I always think of just when it takes that step of faith, knowing that as the children of Israel, the sea that was in front of them did not heart until the soles of their foot hit the water. And it was that step of faith that caused it, it to move. Right? God wants to move in your life. I believe that he wants to move in all of our lives. But oftentimes he's waiting on us to take that step of faith. And I want to encourage you guys all in that as you go into this weekend, be intentional, be intentional with every, every action, every thought. And watch God show up so he gets the harvest. Barry, it was a pleasure having you on, man. We'll talk to you again very, very soon.
Thanks so much.
We'll see you guys on next week's episode.
God bless you, everybody.
