Guys, I am very excited to bring you part two of this interview with my beautiful, beloved divine feminine shamanic teacher, Malaika Darvill. So if you haven't heard the first episode, Malaika was my teacher when I was living in Bali about four and a half years ago. She is the most powerful soul spiritual warrior that I know. She is not only of the shamanic path, but also of the tantric path as well, and really of the Earth medicine path and allowing Earth's wisdom to come through us and to reconnect to our bodies, our wombs, and to honor the womb of this planet and to see her as this living being that is alive, that is calling for us to help her and that we are her children who must honor and worship this beautiful mother that we have all been born from this planet Earth. So in the first episode, we talked a lot about, I mean, everything we really listening to Malaika speak is kind of just like warping to this other dimension. I mean, this, this interview ended up being two and a half hours long, which is why it's split up between two episodes, because when you listen to her speak, she will just take you to so many places you feel like you are tripping and you are completely sober because she's so intergalact. So this was our continued conversation from the last one, speaking all about Earth and what are the drug uses in this country doing to people and how we can reconnect to our bodies and to this planet. And ayahuasca. Is that right for people who Is it right for what is her energy? And so many beautiful topics. So really listening to this episode is just like sitting in a room, like sitting under a teepee with Malaika and just listening to her grandmother, what medicine come through. She is a grandmother, by the the way. And it is just such an honor and privilege to be able to share her voice with a larger audience here on the Highest Self podcast because she has been so transformational in my own life. So without further ado, let's welcome back Malaika. So the last topic I really want to get into, which we were just speaking about a few days ago, is addiction. Addiction is something that is massive right now, especially in the US with the opiate addiction. Not just opiate, with Xanax and Ambien and also with sugar and food. So can you talk about the spiritual cause of addiction and how we can conquer it?
So any addiction is really coming from a need that's not being met. And, you know, when I was only 23 and living in Africa, I had the realization of how addiction has been used to manipulate and control humanity. So I say the proverbial they. But, you know, whatever. The capitalistic model has used the best of human minds not to better humanity, but to control and manipulate us. And addiction is the easiest way. So addiction, where does it lay? It lays in our root chakra. So an imbalanced root chakra, muladhara, is where all our addiction afflictions come from. The root chakra is also our place. That is our connection to the earth. It's also our connection to family. It's also our connection to survival, our survival thing. So an imbalanced root chakra is then going to lead to addiction. So all of our self worth and all of our guilt and shame around our sexuality and what we are and what our bodies just do leads us in our contemporary societies towards the need to mask this deep feeling of unworthiness or deep feelings of shamefulness around what we are as human beings. And it's been instilled for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. And now, you know, like in Africa, they were using sugar, you know, because they didn't used to have sugar, they only had honey. And so to get the Africans to spend money on this white stuff that came in with the white people, it was like they weren't going to spend money on it, you know, so they virtually gave it away. And this like huge bag, like, you know, we're talking 25 kilos of sugar was sold for very, very, very cheap, you know, and then once the addiction was in that same bag is now worth a man's salary for the year. But somehow he will find the money to buy that bag of sugar even before he will look after, you know, the needs of the children or the family. But the bag of sugar, everyone's got one of those. And, you know, so. And it's very easy to control people then, you know, to control the behavior, to control everything is, like, through this addiction. And it's covering up, like, a deeper need for things. And physical addictions like opiates and benzoids and things that are chemical addictions that the brain gets actually addicted to, becomes even harder to break these addictions. So the pharmaceuticals, they've realized this. They've been studying this, you know, in animals and making poor little animals suffer for thousands of years, you know, hundreds of years, to see what chemicals do what in the brain and how quickly the human being can get addicted to this chemical, because then they've got a permanent client. You're going to constantly put money towards that addiction, consciously or unconsciously, and they've got their markets sorted. And I realized in my own life, I used to smoke. Roll these cigarettes every now and again. But I was in denial that I was an actual smoker. I would just. I was so manipulative in my own behavior that I managed to even live with people who smoked. Not only smoked, but smoked the brand of cigarettes that I wanted. So that when I wanted it, when the need came up inside of me, the desire came up inside of me, it was there.
I think a lot of smokers do that. They feel like if they don't buy it, then they're not interested.
Yes, exactly. Meanwhile, you know. And then, you know, at a pub one time, I caught myself, like, you know, scouting, like, unconsciously, but scouting the pub and seeing someone who was smoking the brand was like, oh, there's the yellow and red packet, you know, and then starting a conversation with this person so that I could ask them for a cigarette so I could have a cigarette. And I was like, whoa, this is controlling me. This is controlling my behavior. And, I mean, I'm an extremist, and the shamanic path has been my path. So I did an extreme thing to break that addiction, which was called an overnight burial. And I'm not advising that or anyone to do that.
What's an overnight burial?
It was like digging a grave in the middle of a jungle like this, you know, to go out and dig a grave in Australia. And I was buried in the earth with just my face to keep out of the earth. I lined my offering back to the earth was the tobacco to break that addiction. And I was buried in the earth for 17 hours. I stayed in the earth. Yeah, it was like a Vipassana meditation. Crammed 10 days crammed into that 17 hours. And I've never, ever touched it since. You know, it was like something larger than life rising up inside of me going, don't you ever touch that again. You know, And I've had the opportunity of working with people with addictions in America. And, you know, one of those was an opioid. And that was like an eye opener for me into the world of what's going on with chemical addiction. And I felt so much love and compassion and also so much rage towards the people who are manufacturing these things that are very addictive very quickly, you know, and it requires a lot of will, you know, your own personal will to break addiction. But of course we have that and we can do that. And there's a lot of support out there to do that. And that's again where I see community, you know, because it's like all the needs, the normal needs of a human being, as I was saying before, of like, children need other children to play with, women need other women to talk to. We like to talk, you know, and we're trying to turn our partner into being our psychotherapist, our analyst, our lover, our breadwinner, and he's supposed to be a good father and play with the kids and. And put the kids to bed at night and get up and go to work again. So everyone's suffering in this whole paradigm versus, like in the community, even if it's a broader sense of community. But places where people gather and can share satisfies this deeper need that most people are not even aware anymore that what is the need that's not being met? They're just taking the substances that society is offering without even knowing what it is that's lacking. They just, you know, there's just a void, there's something that's not being met. A lot of people say that when they come and do the trainings or come and do my workshops, you know, that they have this experience of, wow, something is fulfilled that I didn't even know was empty, you know, before, but that, you know, so it's that kind of like longing, the humanness longing that I feel like every human being longing for these, you know, interconnectedness, our interconnectedness with nature, you know, just putting your bare feet on the grass and running around like you did when you were a little kid and feeling that. Oh, that joy of being alive, you know, and most people just don't get to feel that anymore. Now we're having children with depression and putting children on all these chemicals. And I've also worked with adults who were those children, you know, addicted to chemicals, like from a very early age. And then at 18 or 19, deciding, you know, bugger this, I'm not going to do this anymore. Quitting cold turkey, of course, going into all kinds of body stuff because they've been on chemicals for so long. So then they get into street drugs, heroin and ice and all these other street drugs. And then finding themselves in these clinics, you know, where I've had the opportunity to work with young people in these clinics where they, you know, and it was interesting because I was hired as a musician originally, working there and playing music with with them on a Sunday. And I was watching them, you know, picking themselves because they're all coming out of withdrawals and scratching themselves and just uncomfortableness in the body you're coming out of. Addiction is not easy because the body you have to do all this work has to be done in the body. And so, you know, the good news is there's so much hope on the other side. The bad news is the only way out is in. So, you know, you just have to commit yourself to doing this journey. Going in and, you know, with these young people, I decided that, you know, I'm just gonna forget this music thing and I'm gonna just dance with them. I'm gonna just do like a mini watered down version of five elements dance with these people. And it was amazing. They all opened up and shared their stories like all this, you know, with me, and just shared so much stuff. And the day after, when they were with like, the top psychoanalysts and the top psychiatrists and the top bodyworkers and everything in America, and those professionals were saying, well, we don't know what they did on Sunday, but whatever they did, do it again. Because they were like different people on Monday. So, you know, it's fast tracking shamanism. These modalities of embodied modalities are the fast path to breaking all these addictions and realizing, like, taking a step back and seeing that there is a force per se, whether it's a capitalistic model force. You know, pharmaceuticals have more money now than governments do to keep us held in these places. And so when you bring yourself to having that awareness that they don't have my best health at their heart, but they do have the addiction at their heart to keep you buying more and more drugs. And you know, like any addiction, you might start with one, but one's not going to satisfy that same need in the physical chemistry of the brain. So you might end up in 2, 3, 4, then a new type of drug and another one, and another one. Hey, that's good money for the company, right? But it's not necessarily good for your health. And so when we can have that greater awareness, then we can come back again to the body and say, what does my body need? And a lot of people are covering up their traumas, their pain, their wounds, their things they don't want to face with drugs, alcohol, the next peak experience, the next thing that's going to get you higher even. Look at our languaging around drugs. I want to get high, I want to get out of it. I want to get plastered. I want to get numb, you know, I'm getting jacked, faded, I'm getting faded. All these, you know, think of the terminology that we use and it's all, what are we doing? We're numbing, we're jacking, we're fading. We're hijacking our own life force energy because we're afraid to feel. And you know, the powers that be know that it's a big journey, you know, to feel and to feel everything. And that's the really going to be our way forward as a species on this planet. And to realize that, you know, we've been gifted as the higher consciousness on the planet in the animal kingdom, but we are still part of that animal kingdom. And you know, in order for us to bring all of it back into harmony again, we need to feel, we need to cry about what we're doing to the oceans, we need to cry about what we're doing to the earth. We need to cry when we see little children that are born as drug addicts already because they've been growing in a womb with someone taking chemical drugs. And you know, see what that little human being, you know, their skin is all like writhing and they're writhing around. And when you watch a little infant, it's actually a really good way to see how to move the body to release addiction, like what the body does because the little baby is so innocent and unprogrammed, it's just in its natural state and they're just like squirming and unwinding. All the fucking, all the tension, all the places inside the body to come back to its natural state so we can heal from addiction. And it's Definitely something that we all need to look at. I mean, you know, even myself. It's just like the social media, you know, it's like us all got a phone in our hands and not connecting anymore and not, you know, so we have to use our own higher consciousness, our own natural intelligence to override the artificial intelligence that's telling us something about ourselves. We need to come back and make quality time where we say, okay, you have to switch off your phone at this hour. No matter what you're doing, no matter how many pings and beeps and how important all that stuff is, Remember those dead people. Life goes on, you know, take your time. Life goes on. Take what is yours. Your breath, your time. Put that thing down. Life will go on. But if you have a heart attack or if you're taking too many drugs to try and stay up so you can get through all the work that you need to get through that's so important when you die, is that really going to be important? I haven't sat with many people on their deathbed that have been, you know, complaining that they wish they had worked harder or made more money. But they do cry about, I wish I had told more people I love them, and I wish I had danced more, and I wish I had visited all the beautiful places in the world that I wanted to see, and I wish I had connected with my friends more, and I wish I had. Have enjoyed my life more while I had good health. So, you know, that's our way of coming back to that. Yeah, just seeing that addiction is. It's a tool that's being used, you know, because we're so easily addicted. And, you know, look at supermarkets and children, you know, all these chemicals and all those Fruit Loops and colored candies and colored M&Ms. And, you know, sugar and everything. And where do they put it? Right at eye level of the child with, like, toys and cartoons, you know, fun stuff. And the little child's body is going to dictate, you know, the addiction starts dictating. So. And if it doesn't get fed, if it doesn't get its little fix, it's going to become a nightmare. I mean, mothers, you see them experiencing this all the time. So there's a force that's doing that, you know, that's putting it intentionally right there at the child's level, knowing that the mother does not want to be shamed upon by society that, you know, she's got this kid that's throwing. Really is an addict, a little drug addict, you know, throwing a Temper tantrum at the checkout going, I want my leg.
I was one of those kids, like, so addicted to junk food. Yeah. And then I would scream and cry and my mom would just get it. And then I knew that worked.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly. And that's, you know, that's been part of the marketing and advertising for very, very.
For adults. Like chocolate and coffee.
Yeah.
Like, I realized I would, like, after every meal, need my chocolate. And I was like, okay, it's like cacao, but then it would be from one square to the whole, and then like a bar of chocolate every single day. And like, without it, I was like, like itching for it. I would, like, go to the supermarket at 10 o' clock at night just to get it. And I was like, okay, this addiction is larger than what I can handle. So I decided I'm just not gonna eat chocolate for one month. And the first, like, week was hard. And then afterwards it just leaves your body.
Yeah, exactly. And the brain starts rewiring itself and.
And it was comfort. That's what I wanted. I was working so hard that eating the chocolate was like a mini escape and pleasure and just. Okay, why don't we look at more ways to get pleasure and ease in my life? That chocolate's not the only way I feel good.
Exactly. And then we can, you know, do everything in moderation, you know, so it's the same with smoking for a lot of people. You know, like in Australia, they call it, you know, smoko. I'm going for my smoko. And smoko is a time they can take a break.
Right.
They're on smoko. You're allowed to take a break because you're doing something. So it still comes back to this doing instead of being. So if. If someone was just sitting there, just in deep contemplation and breathing for 15 minutes, you say, hey, get back to work. You're not doing anything. Where someone's sitting there and they're smoking their cigarette. It's like, oh, they're smoking their cigarette. Okay, they're doing something. They're allowed to have that time. So we have to, like, rewire how we do things, that it's okay to just sit there and do nothing. And, you know, me too, I have to remind myself it's okay to just sit there and do nothing and take that time of going. A lot's happening in this nothingness and that's okay, you know, or like you said, pleasure. What other ways can I receive pleasure that aren't harming my body? What is the deeper need that I'm longing for, that I'm going for. You know, I have to get blotto is another word. You know, in Australia, I have to get totally blotto to enjoy myself. And people feeling like that's the only way that they can find pleasure in their lives. And then they have regrets because, you know, they do crazy stupid things that they wouldn't do. But what is that? It's like by getting out of the way, all the taking alcohol or a drug or something that helps you to get out of the way, that helps you to let go. So, you know, conscious dance is one of the greatest things on the planet right now to help people to let go in a healthy and, you know, no drugs, no alcohol, just the body. And our body has all these drugs in it naturally. We have dopamine, we have serotonin, we have the feel good medicine right inside of us. Just smiling at each other more makes it release in our body. Holding our babies, giving birth to your baby and breastfeeding your baby, all kinds of dopamine, serotonin, we're wired for all of that. So when we created this artificial world where we're separating ourselves from our true nature as a human being, we've also created all the afflictions and all the diseases. Dis. Ease, you know, lack of ease. Because we're not in alignment with the things that we need, you know, and I'm not saying that we need to go back and live in a cave and hunt, you know, with a spear and, you know, run around naked. It's like, no, we need to find ways now. We've, you know, everything. Like also one of the things that society has taught us is that there, we've evolved. You know, this is it. We've evolved. We have the picket fence, we have the, you know, the job. We have, you know, the structures. We're there, you know, like as if there's some kind of destination. We're on a planet that's hurtling through infinite space at what, 80 miles per second, you know, think of that for a minute, spiraling through this infinite void, you know, so we are never back at the same place in the universe. We're constantly. Everything is one guarantee of this. Life is change. You know, we are constantly changing and we are part of it. And so we are not there. Thank God, you know, if this was it, that would be mortally depressing. You know, we're definitely not there. You know, not that there's anywhere to get, but we are. We are constantly evolving. And just the Same as this. Earth is constantly evolving and changing, and she finds ways to adapt with all that we heap upon her. So do we find ways to adapt and change with all the structures that we've created. But our consciousness is constantly evolving. And so we take the wisdom of our ancient ancestors, the indigenous nations that knew how to live in harmony on the Earth. We take our technology that knows how to go to Mars and go to the moon and, you know, do all kinds of amazing things.
Record these podcasts.
Record these podcasts and broadcast it out to 70,000 people across the globe. We take this technology and now we marry the two into how now do we move forward as a people power, as a people movement, as a human movement? How do we bring the humanness back in to heal our world, to create happiness again? You know, to bring like, some of the happiest moments in my life are when I was in Africa, you know, dancing in these extremely poor villages. Poor on the level of, you know, materialistic, but, oh, my God, the joy factor. I've never experienced anything like that ever again in my face, my life. And actually every time that I've spent time with those people, including here in Bali, when you go out to the villages, you know, so much generosity of spirit, you know, and so we are poor spiritually in the west, even though we've created all this materialistic abundance, but we're starving to death, you know, and then we've made those other places that used to have happiness now also be not only starving materialistically, but now by adopting the Western paradigm of growth at all costs, they're also starving spiritually. Oh, for sure. And losing their culture, the things that gave them happiness and joy. And so for me, you know, I'm a planetary storm in the Mayan calendar. So I'm always like, you know, looking at the bigger picture. And, you know, I just had my Vedic astrology done. And where my Vedic astrology is, I'm always thinking like this, you know, and he said, no, this is in your house that you think like this and not everybody thinks like this, you know, and, you know, and I think sometimes like my own wake up call when realizing that, wow, not everybody's always like thinking about this stuff, you know. Yeah.
A lot of people don't think about the planet. No. How to help community and society. A lot of people are really only thinking about themselves.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And in that self, though, the loss of finding that, the inability to find true happiness, you know, and create that in their lives, I've seen that, like, time and time and time and time again, you know. So, yeah, I think that, you know, each of us is just doing the best we can to constantly remember that, you know, life is a journey. It's. There is no destination. The destination is the journey. And to pat ourselves on the back that we're doing extremely well in this extremely overstimulated, artificial world that we've created. And so to remember to be gentle to your body, to step back from it a lot and take heed of, you know, what's really important. If anybody's ever been sick, I think health would be number one on the top of the list. That when you really sick and you can't get out of bed, nothing else really matters, you know, when you're dying of cancer and you're taking your last breaths or you're seeking, you know, where's the next miracle cure to cure this painful cancer that I got growing in my body? Nothing else really matters, you know, except getting better. So I think putting your health. That's the higher selfishness, you know, putting that as your priority. What makes me happy, what makes my body happy.
And then naturally, you will want to radiate and help others from that space.
Yes, exactly. Because that's the other thing too, is that, you know, Earth is a school. You know, it's the planet of duality. That's why we have the man, we have the woman. You know, it's a planet of duality. That's the paradox to come back to oneness. And, you know, and the other paradox of that, we have actually both of these aspects inside of ourselves, the masculine and feminine inside of ourselves to find that balance within ourselves and marry those aspects of ourselves and stop looking for it outside of ourselves. But to know that we each are given a gift, a code, you know, and when we follow that code, when we start discovering the Dharma. Yeah. What is our Dharma? What is our dharma gonna be? And we discover what that purpose is and we find, you know, what makes us the most happy. And that can change. You know, it changes. It's just like a tree, maybe the little seedling, you know, at first. And it's, you know, what it loves to do is to, you know, teach in schools and to teach primary children or whatever. That's what makes you really happy. And then as that tree grows, you know, it starts producing fruit and something different. So might the dharma change. And actually, now I want to write children's books that are going to touch a lot more children than me being in a classroom with 30 children. But it still might be the same seed, the same thing. But it's like if we give ourselves permission to keep following that, and that's where the trust needs to come in. Because the powers that be that have kept us so locked in survival mode that we're so afraid to let go, you know, because we've created, like a domino structure. You know, like, we see the old world falling apart. The banking system, the school system, the health system. We see these structures, these old paradigm structures based on fear falling apart, and we're like that, too. So all of those structures of, you know, but I got the mortgage and I got the wife, and I got the kids in this private school, and I got this and I got that. And, you know, and I have to, like, you know, keep it all together. And I, you know, I gotta keep the ball rolling. And then all of a sudden, poof, the health issue happens and it all falls apart anyways. And then what, you know, again comes back to what's important. Well, maybe I should have listened when I was being told that maybe those things aren't so important. Maybe the kids would actually just be more happy if I was actually home with them more and spending more time with them, and we'd just go off camping and, you know, spend time in nature. Go. You know what? That was the best holiday ever. And it didn't even cost hardly anything. But we were just in nature having fun and connecting with each other. And, you know, that's what people are longing for. It's like they're longing for this interconnectedness that is missing it of our contemporary societies largely, you know, and our ways of coming together is like, in clubs where the music's so loud, we can't talk or connect. So we need, like, copious amounts of drugs and alcohol to get out of it so that we can dance, you know, because we think we're making. Making fools of ourselves when we're dancing, because it's our bodies just needing to release, you know, so why not just turn the music off?
Yes. Just start dancing in your room. Not waiting. I think a lot of people are like, oh, well, I don't have a dance class near me. Or they're, like, waiting for permission to dance. It's like you can do it while listening to this podcast. You can be having a conversation and moving your body because when you're super in touch with your body, you're always dancing.
Yep, that's right. And the same with, you know, yoga. People think that, oh, you know, I don't own a pair of Lululemon tights. And I, my body's not the yoga type and I can't put myself into any of those structures. No, yoga is about stilling the mind. Yoga is about the marriage between the breath and the movement. So you can do the dishes and do the dishes yogically with a real total awareness and focus and that will take you to the path of enlightenment. You don't need to be sitting on a rectangle or piece of rubber with 50 other people in a class, you know, which is wonderful too. And the entrainment of like being in a class is wonderful, but you don't need to have that in order to have the experience and you don't need to have that in order to start. You can just give yourself 15 minutes. Okay, this week I'm going to give myself 50 minutes. Every morning I'm going to get up, I'm going to throw out my mat and I'm going to get down on it and I'm just going to let my body stick, see what wants to happen. I'm going to put some music on, you know, put your favorite tracks on and give yourself 15 minutes to let the body do whatever it wants to do and see what happens.
And those are always the best. Because in a yoga class there's so many times I'm like, I want to do this move and. But the teacher's not there. And at least in la, if you're not doing what the teacher says, they will come up to you and tell you, excuse me, we're on our right leg doing this. And it's like, okay, I can see I'm obviously doing something different. But you're, you're basically structured to whatever the teacher wants to do, which is just a very generic asana. Whereas when you just do your own thing, like that is really where like the juice comes out and you realize like, oh my God, I only just want to back bend today. Or like, oh, I just want a forward fold. And it's just what your body needs.
And doing all of those like full on asanas, you know, Patapi Joyce was teaching private students one on one body type, body type, body type, body type. You've got a room full of 50 people, every single person, a different body type, a different dosha, different injuries, different afflictions, different traumas. And you're telling them to all do this. You're bound to get injuries, you know, because it's, you're not listening. And like you said, you know, my body suddenly wants to do this. And when the Teacher comes and tells you you're not allowed to. Well, is that, you know, are we not back in the patriarchy, same thing again? You know, have we not just patrized yoga into a patriarchal system to control and manipulate? And it's not really bringing us to the bliss and the joy and the liberation that it's supposed to bring? And. Yeah, so love it. Come to Ibiza and come and experience.
So where can people connect with you? Come on your retreats and.
Yeah, well, I'm just about to leave Bali, which is hard because I love it here so much. And I am looking for land, so I'm looking to build this center. And I really do want to find investors who want to invest in this bigger vision, because I really feel like creating the life University where people can then come to me. I'm you thing, but I'm not getting any younger. And so I do want to just kind of create that place where I stay in one place for a long time of the year, you know, like make Bali six months of the year. And then the next place I'm heading is to Ibiza. And there I'm doing a yoga and the Art of awareness retreat with my dear sister Satya, who's also a Hatha yoga teacher. And we will be doing yoga, somatic movements, dance. It's in an epic villa right on the ocean. So there'll be lots of time to give yourself this nurturing time. So if you need to unplug, have a little guidance to get you going, but have time for yourself to nurture, to walk and watch the sunset. If you haven't seen a sunset for a long time, if you need assistance with eating, you know what to eat. Where do I start with this? Getting myself onto a healthier diet. Beautiful, healthy, detoxing food is going to be all organic and vegan and readily available and lots of support on your journey to get you started. So that's in Ibiza. That's in October, followed by the Tantra Festival, where I'll be teaching at the this year's annual Tantra Festival that they hold in Ibiza, which is amazing. 300 people. And it's certainly a fast track to awakening and opening your heart. And no, it's not 300 people having an orgy. It's 300 people doing the work, doing your work. You know, a lot of eye gazing, a lot of heart opening, a lot of somatic movement, a lot of dance and celebration, a lot of things that will trigger the hell out of you. But, you know, if you're ready. And listen. Listen to your body. You know, that's also a good place to come. Please say that you're coming through. Malaika, if you do decide to come. And after Ibiza, I'll be going to Turkey. And in Turkey, I'm hosting a women's retreat. So the yoga and art of awareness is open for men and women, but the We Are retreat in Turkey is only for women. And We Are stands for Women Embodied Awakening Retreat in the Elements. So we're in Feteya, and Fethea is Butterfly Valley. It's been put on the UNESCO World Heritage sites because it's a butterfly breeding place. And for me, the butterfly is the greatest symbol. And, you know, for most native indigenous people, the butterfly is the greatest symbol of transformation. You know, this caterpillar that's got to creep along the ground and follow the process of eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, and then make this cocoon dissolve completely into fluid and has no idea that when it comes out of that cocoon, it's going to be able to fly. And so this is the transformational routine retreat for women to come on an embodiment, to drop into their deeper wisdom. We'll be doing a lot of womb work, a lot of womb healing. Feels like all the wisdom that I've learned for decades, you know, is finally finding its birthing place with women. So that's going to be a really deep dive into the sacred feminine embodiment and dance and really your pleasure and finding your purpose and what turns you on. And, you know, people might say, well, why Turkey? Why aren't I doing it all in America? You know, I'm divinely guided by spirit. And, you know, I find myself going to these places to do retreats when there's a one, for myself and for the people coming to receive the codes of that place energetically. And two, the work that is being done in those places is also then putting that energy into the field or the grid of that place. So, like in Egypt, you know, Egypt, a few years ago, I was in Egypt and doing the womb awakening work there was so powerful, I can't even begin to tell you how powerful it was. Why the womb was first repressed in Egypt. The great religions were first formed in Egypt. Women were first delineated from the equation of equality in Egypt 2½ thousand years ago. So doing this work there, you know, oh, my God. What was awakening was just, you know, beyond my wildest expectations or dreams or what was possibly happening, you know, like, it was really quite phenomenal. So Going to Turkey, for example. Well, first of all, going to Ibiza is. Ibiza is Atlantis. You know, amazing, epic, incredible vortex of energy of old Atlantis. So many people carry those codes, and they need to heal from those codes. And so in going back and when you're drawn to going to these places where big Earth grids are happening, it's like we each have our own, you know, astrocartography dependent on the planetary grid. And so we're drawn to these places because there'll be activations for our soul on some soul level, Soul memory, you know, past life memory, if you believe in that sort of thing. But energetically, we're drawn to these places and they'll activate something within us. So in Turkey, you know, Turkey is the land of Aphrodite. So I wanted to do this women's retreat in Turkey because I, you know, I didn't even really think about it. It just sort of the opportunity came to do this retreat there, and the retreat center presented itself. And I said yes, just because I feel both in my own body, I want to activate more of Aphrodite and awaken my own sexuality and pleasure in a way that is fully embodying this divine feminine essence. And so I feel the women who will be drawn to coming there make the effort to come there, because, yes, it's an effort to come out of your comfort zone to go spend a week in a foreign country, but it's. It's so worth it. You know, it's mind blowing because you get the codes of that place as well as the work that we're going to be doing, as well as, like an epic adventure, like an adventure of a lifetime being held where everything's taken care of. Your food, your meals, your transport, you know, all those things are taken care of. So you just need to get yourself there. So if you hear the call, like, I had one from the last podcast we did, and Lessa, beautiful Lessa, she just heard the podcast and just kind of got off of it afterwards and sort of went, I'm coming to Bali. I'm going to Bali. And she came to my Elemental Awakening retreat here in Bali, and she was the eldest person at the group. There was mostly a lot of young people there. And she said that it was up there with the top five things that she's ever done in her life, and the bonding and the connections and the transformation and the healing. And for her, she was at her second Saturn return. And so it was like a rebirth for her, you know, coming out of relationship stuff and coming out of being a mother. And there was a rebirth for her coming to Bali. She just followed her. Yes. Without thinking. So that's where we need to get to, where we, we, we use this mind to be of service to the body in a way that is for our highest good.
So true. Have you heard of Adaptogens? I mean, if you're listening to the Higher Self podcast, probably, but have you actually tried them and used them as part of your daily life? I remember when I heard about your five elements facilitator training, like, I had no Money. I was 23 years old by myself and I was like, I just need to make this happen somehow. And I was like working for you. Remember I was like your marketer person, like giving out hand, like putting all your flyers everywhere. But I just made it happen. It was like the best thing that I ever did. So if you're feeling the call guys, literally just stop using the monkey mind and just say yes. And also you're open to doing retreats in other places. If people have any suggestions of where they want you, email Malaika.
As you said, the shamans, who's with the. I'm getting better, I'm getting better with all the marketing thing and better at delegating. But definitely I sort of feel that this message or the message that I carry, the codes that I carry and you know, having my friend pass away recently has really Made me kind of step out of my comfort zone, even just doing a podcast. It's my second podcast. I'm so excited, you know, and so grateful that you've invited me to share in this way, you know, because many people have always said, oh, you should do a podcast, you should do podcasts, you should do this, you should do.
That, and you should make your own podcast.
Yeah. And so I'm really feeling ready to share more deeply. Not from an ego place, you know, not from a place of, oh, I want to be rich and famous or, you know, or speak to thousands of people or whatever, more. Because I love this earth so much. So much that she could make me cry when I think of how deeply I care about the children of the Earth and the suffering that is a lot of the times, unnecessary. Yes, life has its challenges, but I really feel there's so much unnecessary suffering because of misuse of power that is taking us down a path that's not necessarily for our highest good. And my work is all about helping people to get them back onto their own path that's going to take them to their highest self and to their highest good. And it's often said, you know, a good teacher is, you know, someone who points the student back to themselves. So, yeah, I'm ready to speak in front of a thousand people. I'm ready to step out of my little bubble here and then create my center here in Bali, where I can come back and fill my cup and plant my trees and get my hands in the earth and keep myself real and grounded and then go back out into the world and share to help where help is needed and to be of service where help is needed and to celebrate where celebration is needed. To get us all dancing again and bring this earth. Turn the ship around, you know, turn it back, point her downstream, back into.
Yeah. Choosing a life of ease and grace.
Yeah, Ease and grace and beauty and. Wow. If only you could see what we're looking at right now and just see the abundance that's here. And Mama Bali is really a place that just daily as the people pray five times a day here for the whole planet, you know, they're praying for peace for the whole planet. And to be in this culture where there's such a reverence for nature, but now with the Westernization flooding in and them not knowing what to do with it all, you know, and seeing the nature suffering at the hands of that, it's really pushed me to the point of I need to share more. So, yes.
And I think all of Us are earth protectors, and that's really why we're here and why we feel called. And, you know, it's so important that we, like, take action, because sometimes we can stay in this complacency of this. Oh, everything's gonna figure itself out. I don't need to do anything. And I can see sometimes, like, the spiritual people, like, go that way of just, like, not caring. And like, true embodied spirituality is to see yourself as a warrior and protector of this planet that we are so lucky to inhabit.
Yeah. Because if we. If we can't breathe anymore, then, yeah, none of us are gonna have, you know, a job. Exactly.
There's no breath work if there's no trees, guys.
Yeah. And. Yeah, so. And again, it's that finding balance. And again, I think it's like, tuning into those codes that we carry that each one of us carries. So when we tune into what we're really here, the real purpose of why you're here. And so it doesn't mean that you might be the one sticking your hands in the dirt, planting the trees, but it might mean that you are using the technology to help send seeds or food or whatever all around the world, or using that technology in a really good way, or coming up with creative ideas of how to deal with our plastic scenario and plastic nightmare. So it's really finding, wow, this really makes my heart sing. Or helping those young girls to fall in love with their bodies and realize that they're perfect just as they are before they go and have plastic surgery to have their yoni design agina happening before they have something done to their body that they might regret later on in their later part of their life. But they're just being pushed down a path that's telling them there's something wrong with them. And you might be the one who comes along to tell them that you're so beautiful. You're so extraordinary, exquisitely beautiful. Let's dance together. And they come back to it themselves. I was doing exactly that just last week at a retreat, a yoga teacher training and taking them on this journey. And, you know, at the end of it, this one young girl who was quite big in her body and quite disconnected from her body. And at the end, when she shared in the circle, you know, what was her aha moment in the journey, she was just, like, with a smile from ear to ear, like, oh, my God. I just. I'm, like, so excited for the journey. I'm now gonna go on with my body and the conversations I'm gonna have with this body just from this one experience that's now woke me up to the fact that I'm in a body, you know, And I've never, you know, she was just so incredibly disconnected from it before that the comfort eating that got her to the size that she was in was just because she didn't even, like, feel what was going on inside her body, you know? So it was just. I was just like, had tears in my eyes because she was just, like, so happy to say she's coming back home.
That's beautiful.
And that's, you know, what it's all about. That's just coming back home so we can come back home to earth and finding our purpose. And it doesn't have to look as grand and grandiose as the next person's. It's what's important for you, what makes your heart sing, what brings joy and happiness to you.
Yeah, I remember on your facilitator training, like, you assigned me to, like, dig the hole with my hands and, like, really get my hands in the dirt and under my nails because I was like, so, like, I don't want to get dirty and stuff. And you were like, no, you have to just keep digging the holes. Like that's going to be your job. And that helped me so much, just, like, get grounded and connected to earth and, like, less in my head because in, you know, Western society, like, you don't even see dirt anymore. Every. The grass is manicured or even fake and you're living in boxes and cars. And after that, like, I now I really feel so connected to the earth. And I love just this planet and the trees and touching it and walking barefoot. But I really think, like, that process of, like, digging holes with my hands every day is what brought me there.
Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty amazing, isn't it? You know, and it's pretty. It always blows my mind how many people have never planted anything before, you know, and it brings so much gratitude and satisfaction. Actually, you know, and I do another yoga retreat. If you're a real nature lover and you really want to or you would like to have an experience of, like, nature at its absolute, like, the best. I do a yoga retreat in a private eco retreat center in Sri Lanka, Ayurvedic. So you can do all your Ayurvedic treatments. And the yoga is all, you know, every day you have yoga practice, dance practice and massages. And you're in this village center. And, you know, it's funny because we get a lot of people from Dubai and, you know, it's quite a little bit expensive to come and to stay there, but it's because they're paying the village people to really stay there all year round to keep it going. It's only open during. During two times of the year, but the people stay there all year round. So actually it's a unique experience of coming in, you know, have your crispy white bed sheets, but then at the same time, you have like this nature experience like never before. And people really drop and shed layers. And I always bring seeds. You know, we do yoga. And then I'm like, okay, today we're doing seva. You know, Sevas are giving back, you know, giving back to the community. And I bring seeds and we plant up the gardens and. And some of the women that, you know, from Dubai and from, you know, these places where they're living in concrete, and I would think, oh, my God, they're going to hate this. You know, they got their painted nails and they're going to hate this. You know, there was one lady, she was like, can I go to the garden like, every day? I mean, we only just did it once, and she was just like. She was like, this reminds me of my grandmother, and my grandmother used to plant things, and I'm having all these memories of this, and I really love this. And, you know, now she's got like this huge farm. She, like, moved out of Dubai, she bought this huge farm in France, and she set up her, you know, a whole, like, she just, like that moment brought her back to where her passion was. You know, for me, I want to live on a planet full of people that are following their passion, you know, and it's like whatever it is that turns you on, like, trust it and follow it and, you know, and see where it's going to take you, because it's going to take you on a journey and it's going to be not what you expected, but it's, you know, letting go of those expectations and just being able to trust and follow your heart, follow your passion, and follow what feels good in the body and just remember that this body is designed to thrive. We didn't get to become a super species by not following our instincts, our instinctual nature. We got here by having community looking after each other and by listening deeply, listening to the body of where we needed to go. We had to have that sixth sense to get to where we are as being a super species on the planet, overtaking the whole planet. So now to bring back us back into balance again, we have to also tap back into that primal nature of our bodies and bring little aspects of that into our contemporary lives to keep us grounded, keep it real, keep us remembering that we share this planet with many other beings. And every action has a reaction. And so everything that we do has an effect on the whole.
And I just love how grounded you make it, because so many spiritual teachers, it's so airy and it's so, like, about ascension and are we Pleiadians? And it's like all this extraterrestrial stuff, which could be cool, but. Okay, what does that mean for us today? How is this going to make the world a better place? And I feel like if you can't connect it into real life some way, what is the point?
Yes. And I'm like, so into all of that stuff. I know I'm Lemurian, and, you know, and the Lemurians were here before the Atlanteans, when the Earth was white.
How do you find out what your alien work.
You know, it's like, yeah. Being in a body and I mean, just trusting that you're. I mean, my God, if I tried to tell you some of the places I've ended up and where I've ended up and the teachers I've had and, you know, the scenarios and life situations that I've been in, that just unfolding when I just surrendered to this life path and this unfolding, you know, and that's really what, you know, life then becomes an epic adventure. Not just a job, you know, that I've got or a destination that I'm trying to get to. It's like, I don't know, you know, I'm going over to America and I'm. I'm heading back out into the unknown again. You know, it's like, yes, I have things in place and I have retreats and things lined up and things in place, but I also allow big gaps of. I don't know, because you're going to.
Be in New York.
Going to New York first. Yep. In July 13th, I'll be in New York City, and I get to do the introduction for the dance lab for the ecstatic dance on July 13th for the new York City ecstatic dance. And so I'm thrilled and honored that I get to do the first hour. I'll be the first DJ and then. And see my grandchildren that are there. My son's acting and doing so well, and he's, you know, he's grown up so connected to nature, and yet now he's extremely successful actor and living in the. You know, living in both worlds. And so knowing that I raised him with these morals and ethics, and knowing that he's now living in this other realm, and yet he's still so incredibly grounded. And that's what a lot of people say, you know, like that. So we can do both. And I think that's the balance. It's like, if we spend too much time just dwelling on, you know, entities and angels and, you know, out there in the cosmos, we forget that we have a body. And how many spiritual healers do you see? And they have a lot of body ailments because they don't spend enough time in the body. And then if you get people who are just all about the body and, you know, they're just always spending time like, yeah, I kind of got to do this with the body and do that with body injuries and physical. Physical stuff, imbalance again, you know, or then people who would just spend too much time, like, always in the mind and always theoreticizing everything and analyzing everything and want to know everything. And, you know, scientists who think it's a great thing that, oh, we've, like, perfected this human being through the. You know, it's like, no, you've lost touch with reality, dude. You know, it's like, no, you know, I heard a scientist saying, you know, they're like, you know, trying to work on, like, creating a pouch for women. So, like, instead of, like, growing your baby in your womb, which then is, you know, birth is so painful, and, you know, and all this and that and everything, you know, grow in these pods. Yeah, grow in your little pouch. You could just like, unzip and take the baby out and not have to. To, you know, go through this. And I'm like, dude, we're created so perfectly. We are created so perfectly. We are billions of years of evolution. We are perfect in our physicality, and that's what we got to remember. And the physicality is so perfect, and we just need to align with it. Yeah, and align with that. And then the spirit, you know, which has been disconnected and separated from the physical matter. And that's the true path of tantra. That's why it includes our sexuality, because it's the path of the feminine. It's bringing in the union of the body being the temple, the body being the physical place, the body where the awakening happens. And if we look at all our great masters, where did they awaken? You know, Buddha sitting underneath the bodhi tree for 41 days. Jesus out in the Sinai Desert in nature. Mohammed out in Nature out on vision quests. This is what indigenous people did, vision quests all the time. They knew this, that the psyche, the human psyche, in order for us to evolve and grow, we needed to take time out from regular everyday life, from the hunting, from whatever they were doing to go sit in nature. To have your wake up call and receive your download from your connection from source or God or the goddess or life force energy or whatever you want to call that which has created all this and this miracle that we are existing in. We each can have our own divine awakening and connection with that. And I truly believe that the second coming or whatever is not going to be in an individual again. It's going to be a massive awakening. It's already happening. And meeting some of these new little children that are just like so awake already. Don't put them on drugs, don't put them in school, you know, it's like, listen to them, watch them, you know.
Next generation of kids. It's amazing. So many of them are rejecting meat from the get go. So many of them just have such high states of awareness and compassion and empathy that it's like our Earth is trying to like self regulate and fix itself by like sending in these star seeds to like help us with the situation.
And that's why, you know what I believe we're also having more solar flares are happening now than ever before in the history of humankind or our recorded history that we ever know of. So what happens when there's a nuclear explosion if we're too close to mutates the DNA, right? And then people have deformities born like Chernobyl and all these terrible atrocities that have happened without misuse of, of nuclear energy. So the sun, the solar flares, those are nuclear explosions happening on the sun, on the face of the sun. And that energy, you know, everything connected like magma. Like we're in this field of plasma. And so that is mutating our DNA, which is awakening our consciousness. We're actually having. That's how, that's why anthropologists and archaeologists can't find it in the bones buried in the earth. You know, we find clues of when changes and things shifted, but we can never find like why did this happen? How did we go from this to that and how did we.
So it's connected to the solar flares?
Yes, connected to our consciousness, which you can't see. It's not a physical thing. Our consciousness just is, you know, it's like. And that's what's evolving and changing. And as these New starseed beings are coming to the Earth because the frequencies are shifting and changing. And really, I mean, each person needs to remember that would the Creator, this creative life force energy that's put you here, put you here just to suffer and to not enjoy the creation at this time on the earth. And when we're in this, like, you know, from the Vedic point of view, it's the end of the Kali Yuga, you know, and we're. We're like, when things end, they seem to seem worse than when, you know, we're right in the middle of it. So we're sort of seeing all the old structures falling apart. We're seeing the worst of the worst. For me, you know, the child sex trade is the worst of the worst of how far away we've come from how what we truly are. So I feel these things that are now being exposed in our face for us to wake up and say, okay, we've come so far away from what we truly are. And I do believe that just like a rubber band that gets stretched is, you know, to its absolute limits of how far away from what we truly are. But in a split second when you release that tension comes back to what it truly is. So I almost feel that that is what Source is also experiencing itself through us. Each individual through us. We are an aspect of Source. And so there is no light or dark. There is just experience. And it's experiencing all of it. All of it is love, and all of it is having this experience. And now as we're becoming further and further away, now that solar flares are starting to come and it's like we're going to be returned back to Stewards of the Earth, Our original blueprint of why we came here to be the stewards of this Earth, to admire the beauty and be part of that beauty. And that's where art and music and dance and creativity really, you know, a resurgence of all the arts, because that's when we are gods and goddesses, when we are creating. And, you know, when I go to all these, like, ancient places and you see, like here in Bali, the art, the creativity, well, where does all that come from when there's sustainability? When you're not in survival mode, art and creativity can flourish. As soon as you're in survival mode, the first thing that gets chopped is all the art and music and dance and fun things that keep us, you know, happy and wholesome. And so, you know, taking a look at our own individual lives and going, well, where am I stuck? Am I still stuck? In that survival mode, am I moving my energy back up into thriving, you know, and. Yeah, so there's lots in there.
So much in there. Yeah. And so split between the lower self and the survival reptilian brain and the higher self, which is operated by joy and love and compassion. You know, I also agree this child sex trade is like really the thing that, oh my God, like bothers me. I think it's the worst thing that could happen because it's taking like sex, something that is meant to be pleasurable and like using it in the most horrible way and like, and it's done by men and it's like just truly an example of what can happen with the wounded, wounded, wounded masculine that is not being addressed. And like this is like the deepest, darkest shadow side that it can go to. And like how deeply it craves to be innocent again, which is why it's attracted to children.
Yes, exactly. And you know, like our great Einstein said, energy cannot either be created nor destroyed. So we are part. Everything is frequency and vibration. And so the repression of our sexual energy, which is our most vital and powerful force that we have in our being, by repressing it and pretending or denying that it doesn't exist, it's going to resurface in the darkness, in the shadows. And so what we're seeing in the world is that shadow, you know, all of that crassness and you know, the distortions of what our sexual energy is, is what we're witnessing that. And like you said, it's a plea, it's a cry, it's a cry to return us back to the innocence again. And for women, I feel more than anything we really have that response, responsibility to not sexualize yourself in the way that the industry has sexualized women. We are sexual beings, just you being you, you are a sexual incredible embodiment of the divine sacred feminine. And you don't need to do anything to that to manipulate it and distort it to receive love.
Right? Yeah. There's such a sexualization of women from a young age, like these 12 year old girls putting padded bras and lipstick and it's like feeding into this culture.
Yeah, yeah, feeding into this culture of that we're not good enough just as we are. So, you know, it's up to moms to teach their daughters that you're right from the word get go as soon as they're born, you're perfect. You know, just keep reminding them every single day, you're so beautiful. Lots of touch, lots of massage. I loved watching how The Africans with the little newborn babies, you know, and just like, so floppy, like, just massaging their groin, as much as massaging under their armpits, as much as massaging their face and then covering them in powder. And, you know, the whole body. The whole body is sacred and coming back again to that of, like, our whole body is sacred and. Yeah. Healing the wounds that have come from that repression and that, you know, making it wrong or bad or something naughty or something, you know, that we're still carrying these deep wounds. And then the pendulum sort of swinging so far the other way of then the overtness of, like, you know, right, I'm reclaiming my sexuality. I'm gonna have sex with every single guy that comes. It's like, no, that's not honoring your womb. That's not honoring your sacred feminine. Your sacred feminine is, you know, she needs to be respected and she needs to tune into her womb. And, you know, the womb just like anything can become damaged and tarnished and distorted when it has not been respected in that way. So, you know, that doesn't necessarily mark liberation being sexually promiscuous for anyone. It's just about bringing the balance again. It comes back to embodiment what's right for me in this, this moment. Not what my mind thinks, not what I think I'm going to gain from this experience or this or that or the other thing, but actually asking my body, is this right for me right now? Maybe sometimes you're going to get a no. And that's good. No is a good word. And yes is a good word, too. So just learning to listen and receive those impulses that come from the body that tell us. Yep, yes, good. Go for this.
Yeah.
And then learn to follow it.
Yeah. So much of this feminist movement is like, free sex. Like, with the birth control, you can have sex with whoever you want. There's no repercussion. But you're literally like, would you let someone into a temple that hasn't honored, that hasn't given the offering, that wouldn't worship at the steps of your yoni? And if they wouldn't, why would you want to carry their DNA for the next seven years?
Yeah. Just like. Yeah, they take their shoes off before they walk into the temple. And why would you want to be drugged and out of it and drunk and, you know, for the sacred act? Sure. Of course, we all go through that and the carnage of our sexuality sometimes, but I feel like now even that, you know, the paradigm of relationship is shifting and changing on the planet, and we're coming back. And it's up to women to love their bodies and respect their womb space as the most. You know, your womb is what birthed all of humanity onto this planet. Exactly. So we need to be the ones to teach our partners and our beloveds how to treat our bodies by knowing our own bodies and by loving our own bodies for what they are. And then, you know, the masking will, like, bow and be bowing, which is.
Deeply healing for them as well. It's what they want to do. But so many women haven't put themselves on that pedestal, so they don't even know that that exists.
Yeah.
But they're still yearning for the mother.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's definitely so much of the conversation that is now sparking and. And seeing that we're both masculine and feminine, and feminine is in no way weaker or more submissive or softer. But it is also the. The womb, the birthing canal, the Durga, the lioness. And, you know, it's nature feminine, the.
Fierce protector Pele, you know, volcano that's birthing new earth and just rolling over. My friend just lost his house in Hawaii. Many blessings to our Hawaiian brothers and sisters that have just lost their properties and their houses. And, you know, my dear friend, he just said, well, it's just a really strong reminder that we don't own the Earth. She owns us. When something like that happens and you're in a natural disaster and Earth just, you know.
And she's speaking out loudly right now.
Yeah. Because, you know, when things go out of balance and she's just trying to bring things back to balance again, you know, and this Earth has always. That's the thing, too, is like, she. You know, if we looked at a map of the earth even 700 years ago, you know, it's completely different. It's always changing. So. But we build structures of things, like, it's permanent, you know, and again, that's like the Bodhisattva teaching of coming back to the law of impermanence. Only thing that's guaranteed in this life is change.
There's this video I watched. It's on YouTube somewhere. And it was like, if humans just stopped existing, what would happen? And it was like, first, like, the small dogs would be eaten by the bigger dogs, and then they would evolve into these wolves. And then slowly, you know, all of our buildings would collapse because if there's no maintenance. But then over time, a few thousand years, it would just look like this jungle again.
I know. It's pretty amazing.
Yeah. New York City, gone.
Yeah. I know I often think that actually when I go to New York City. I love New York, by the way. But every time when I'm in New York City, I, you know, I'm walking around, I'm thinking, you know, because I've seen pictures of it when the pioneers first came there. And I've sailed down the east, the east coast of America and just sort of thinking, wow, like, how did this all happen? You know? But then now, living in a small place both in Byron Bay in Australia and in Ubud in Bali, and having been here, watching the city grow, like, and what happens when property's like, okay, no, we're not going to leave that little plot of grass just for the sake of a plot of grass. That's land, that's property. And we're going to put the concrete right up to that. And then the next building is right up to that. And then by reveille, it was like, okay, you can only build, like, they brought in a new law. Okay, you could build two stories, you know, and then that law gets revisited. And no, we can now bring in four stories and five and 10. And you just watch, you know, like, Hong Kong used to be a fishing village, you know, Singapore used to be a fishing village. And you just watch how, you know, and that's our, like, creativity. I mean, human beings, we're absolutely amazing what we can create. And so let's start thinking outside the box and go, yes, let's keep creating epic. Like, I want to live in a epic place. You know, that's like, I don't want to be just, you know, digging in the dirt all the time. It's like, I want to live in an epic place that is like, so beautiful. Tree houses and, you know, using all the different materials that we have and all the different lighting that we have and using all the different, you know, ways to create more beauty. That's like, wow, you know, so people walk in and just go, holy macro. This is like activating every cell of my being just by coming into a structure that I've created, you know, and we have that potential. I mean, look at, like the, you know, cities like Singapore with all the things. But the people are suffering. It's not people friendly. We need to now create things that are people friendly. Places to gather, sacred geometry, you know, even, like, business, you know, things where there's like, ga, you know, spaces for people to socialize and gather. That's what makes us happy. People make place, you know, it's like if you're, if you Love who you're working with. You love your job. You know, you might not love what you're doing necessarily so much, but you love going to work because you love. You're gonna get to see all those people you love, and you're gonna get to be with the people, be surrounded by the people you love. You know, you think that planting rice is. You know, they love it here in Bali. It's like, no, but they do it together. And, you know, when they're all doing it together and, you know, it's coming home together in the village, and they're all together. So it makes the life. Life instead of work, you know, be part of life. You're working, you're doing it, you're doing something. But you're the family and the connections and the ceremonies and all of that is why you. You know, this is just like, everybody has to do something exactly. Just, you know, keep everything going. But let's find ways to do it that we can thrive more and we can feel each other more, and we can have more moments of celebration and more moments where we just look in each other's eyes and dance and go, oh, my God, we're alive. You know, this is, like, so amazing. It's like, such a gift to have this human body and to be here and to be part of this experiment of Earth, you know, that's growing. That's. You know, even our greatest scientists are getting closer and closer to realizing that, you know, the veil between the unseen realms and the seen realms and that our thoughts affect consciousness. When they discovered the smallest particle of matter, and it was, you know, so many scientists at the same time were all, you know, trying to figure, you know, get their paper in first so they'd be the one who would have their name on this discovery. And basically all of them came to the same conclusion at once in China and Russia and America that how they thought the particle would behave. So in our Western scientific paradigm, we write out hypotheses and a prediction of how we think that whatever we're testing is going to behave. And basically, all of them came to the conclusion that whatever they thought, how the particle would behave, particle behave like that. So basically, coming to what the sages have been saying for millennium, what you think affects your reality, you know, and shapes your reality. So somehow, collectively, we have thought up and dreamt this dream, including the child sex trade, including the wars, including the starvation, including the beauty, including all of it, you know, has been our own manifestation and our own dream. And so that means we're that powerful. We can dream whatever we want. Yes. So every day, you know, on a daily practice, you know, what am I dreaming? What do I want to manifest? How am I going to, you know, share my seed, my gift with the world of my little piece of creation? Totally happy.
Yeah. It all starts with the thought. And then that thought becomes a, well, what if maybe. And starts to move through the chakras and like, oh, now I really feel and I want to act upon it. And then you birth it out into the world. And that can go the negative way too, of having a negative thought and then acting on that and turning into a murder.
Yeah.
So, like, this is why, like, for people who are like, I don't believe in law of Attraction. It's not that you're just thinking it. You act upon what you think even if you don't notice, even if it comes out in this crazy, you know, millisecond, whether it's suicide or, you know, meeting your lifelong partner. But it came from the subconscious thought at first.
Yep. We are powerful, powerful, powerful creators. And that's where, again, coming back to the addiction that we need to break, you know, control your addictions so they don't control you. And then when we are doing that, it's like, then we can harness that our will. And when we align with our higher self, then we are in communication with this higher self that's existing of what is for my highest good, which is always going to take you in the direction of your light and your life and what's going to make you thrive. And then you use your will to stay on path and just keep following the signs and picking up the crumbs. I mean, Sahara Rose here you are absolutely amazing. A manifester of, like, having a thought, you know, coming to Bali, coming and doing the training. I'm gonna do this book and just needed that little tweak to make it all happen. And now look at you, I mean, sitting here and. Yeah, yeah, it's incredible. It's incredible. And you're on your fourth book now. I mean, it's absolutely incredible. You are, you are. And, you know, and this is. You are of the younger generation compared to me. I mean, you're definitely of that younger generation that's coming through, you know, like, you think my generation, you know, 50, around 50, still largely, our parents were really suffering from the war, you know, and that's why we need to stop the wars on the planet. Every time a war, another war is going on on the planet. I just think, oh, it's not so much. You know, it's, it's the people. Another generation of numb, frozen, shut down, traumatized people every time a bomb goes off. We're never going to have peace on this planet as long as we're dropping bombs on people is not going to happen. You know, we have to stop that because I come from that generation. My father grew up in the war, his mother grew up during the war. And a lot of people. But this next generation is kind of growing up in a different era, you know, and the era of the laws of manifestation being birthed and being re realized and reawakened. And I'm so blown away by the young people that I'm surrounded by. I am in awe and reverence, continually bowing to their feet of like, wow, you know, because also they're old souls, you know, coming through. And you're such an old soul, you know, writing your, your fourth book on Ayurveda before you've even gone through your first Saturn return is like mind boggling.
Well, it's also like my, my parents are both from war too. And like my mom seeing like the war in Iran and like becoming a refugee, like walking by foot to leave that and then like seeing like, okay, this is what my life will look like if I just live by survival mode. And then coming to Bali and seeing people like you and all these people like living their lives and doing what they want and I'm like, wait, do your parents like know you're here? Like this, this happens just like blasts you open to a whole new paradigm of existence that we wouldn't know if we just stay in our comfort zones. Which is why leaving, going on retreats, going on vipassanas, whatever it is, is so essential. And I think that heals all addiction too. Because you won't have your refrigerator late at night and you won't have your cigarettes or your ex lover that you keep seeing or whatever that addiction is. When you're taken out of that on a retreat or whatever setting, it's like, okay, it's just me and I need to deal with whatever comes up.
And you're supported.
Yes.
And you know, you're, it's, it's like the timelessness can happen because you're suddenly in an environment that is supportive solely. It's like you're giving yourself that spiritual time to go to address all these things without all the distractions of your normal everyday life that pulls you this way and that way. And the last thing on your to do list is take care of me.
Right or like, oh, let's meet for coffee. And it's like, oh, 45 minutes on the dot. Gotta go. And it, like, becomes. It's like not even a connection. It's more of like a checking in where you're like, this is what's going on with me, that's going on with you. Okay, glad we met. And it's not this, like, deep soul of, like, what's really going on with you. Because that takes time and layers to unfold. And even in a retreat, it's not even in the first few days. It's like, the very end.
And you know what's so funny? At the yoga retreat that I teach in Sri Lanka, in Opata, so they have all these daybeds hanging everywhere. And one of the most amazing aspects of it, even though they more than easily could have it rigged up with electricity, they choose to have no electricity there. And so even Nikola Tesla, who discovered electricity, he also discovered technologies to protect us against the harmful effects of electricity that would have on the human body. But they. You know, he was killed before those technologies came out and just the electricity was taken. So when people come through these gates of this retreat center, they're all like, wow, this is amazing. They're all, like, buzzing, and I can see it in their auric field. It's like. Like static electricity. You know, it's just like little sparks all over. And then by, like, day two or three, like, after a couple of massages and a shirodhari oil treatment and eating ayurvedic food and yoga classes and a yin class and a dance and a swim in the lake, and, you know, they're just like, in that daybed, and everyone's just, like, snoring and sleeping everywhere. And it's like. I think a lot of the afflictions that people are dealing with is just actually exhaustion. Exhaustion for sure, you know, that we're pushing the human body. Do, do, do, do, do. And we don't have this being time. Whereas, like, in the darkness, remember, even my own children, when they came, you know, and they're. When you're in the tropics, it gets dark at, like, you know, what, six o'. Clock? It's darkness time already. And, you know, my kids sort of going, oh, my God, I'm so tired. You know, like, it's time to go to bed now, because it's been dark for, like, a couple of hours. And, like, what time is it? Feels like it's midnight, you know, and you're like, oh, it's 8 o' clock. And they're like, oh, all right, I better stay out for another, you know, a little while. And then, you know, half an hour. And they're like, all right, I don't care if it's 8:30, I'm going to bed. Our biorhythm gets back into the rhythms of sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset, and readjusts us. And even just to have that as a retreat to reset and recalibrate and maybe kick a few addictions and tune in and have time to journal, it's so worth it. It's like, I think everybody should do it at least once or twice a year to recalibrate themselves.
Totally.
You know, and, yeah, that's, you know, I mean, that's the service I've been providing for years and years and years. And to come and do your deeper work, you know, while you're there and.
To set the intentions that you're going to bring back. Because then sometimes it's like, oh, I feel so great on the retreat, and I come back and my life is shit. And it's like, you are always like, I mean, you had us, like, go by trees and, like, journal for, like, three hours and stuff, but it's, like, so important to, like, really think, okay, what do I want to take out of this? Like, what is my true intention to bring back home and planting those seeds in your life and bringing that energy to everyone that you meet.
Yeah. Otherwise it just becomes like, oh, again, like the drug addiction. Okay, I'll go that nice thing. Oh, for sure. Not doing our deeper work, you know, so it's like, you know, not pushing yourself over the edge, you know, of your comfort zone, but definitely stepping, like you said, outside your comfort zone is where the real work happens. Yeah.
Just a reminder that we're human.
Yes.
Things we've, like, forgotten. Yeah.
We're so human. Yeah.

Wow. What a deep journey and honoring it is to listen to Mama Malaika share her wisdom and medicine with us. And right after this interview, I ran off to a photo shoot that I was supposed to be on, and guess what? That's where my boyfriend proposed to me and became my fiance. It was right after this conversation. So you guys right now just listened to the very last words that I heard as a maiden, which is very, very special. And this conversation was exactly what I needed to get me ready for that, that role. So if you love everything Malaika said, you want to learn from her, you want to dance with her, you want to journey with her. Head over to in my elements dot com. In my elements plural dot com. And there you will find all of her retreats. She has upcoming retreats in Ibiza, Sri Lanka, Bali. She has her five elements facilitator training, which I did, and I highly, highly recommend. She hosts cacao ceremonies all around the world, which has been so transformational, powerful in my life. She does amazing African dance workshops, which are super, super fun. She does tantra workshops, coaching, lomi lomi, massage, cord cutting, soul retrievals, blessing your home, water dance. I mean, really, if you're looking for anyone to hold sacred space, Malaika is your person. She is the real deal. She's someone you can trust. You know, in this world that shamans are very masculine and sometimes can be scary. She's someone that you can fully give your all to. And she's not using any type of plant medicine. The only medicine you're using is that medicine which exists inside your body. And guess what? You can go just as deep. So head over to inmyelements.com to check out her offerings. You can also email her right there on her website she is open to coming to teach a retreat here in the us. I worked for her and would help promote her and so I could. I had no money to do her her facilitator training so I really recommend that for anyone and if you know a place that would love to host her, you want to we can organize a High self podcast retreat with her. She's open, she is down, she is a citizen of the planet. So head over to in my elements.com reach out to her. And again it is such an honor to have her here on the High Self podcast.
