It features a conversation between Sahara Rose, the host, and Kimberly Snyder, a wellness author and coach. The discussion centers on heart intelligence, healing from divorce, spiritual growth, and practical heart-based meditation techniques. Sahara Rose shares personal insights and promotes her coaching programs, while Kimberly Snyder discusses her journey through heartbreak to finding love, integrating ancient wisdom with modern science.
What about people who feel like, I followed my heart, but it got me in trouble before? I can't trust my heart.
Oh, my gosh. I actually wrote that line in the book because a lot of us think that way. So when you think you were in the heart, you are actually probably in the ego, right? Coming from this fearful place, clinging, desperate to get this person or desperate for this thing to work out, this, you know, unavailable person or this one situation. Whereas the heart is really calm and the heart is this incredibly profound, wide reaching, expansive intelligence. So the heart isn't stuck on expectations. The heart perceives things in a different way. So a lot of times if you're like, oh, I fell for this guy and it screwed up my life, it probably. You probably weren't in your steady heart.
I'm the one I've been waiting for. Welcome back to the Highest Self podcast. My name is Sahara Rose, and on this podcast I love to take spirituality and make it modern, grounded, fun and relatable and really honor the multi dimensionality of the feminine. I feel like so many of us, we come to spirituality for our health, which was my journey. And I'm be sharing more with you how I found the incredible guests we have on today. Maybe we came from meditation or yoga, but we find that everything is really connected, right? The way that we do one thing is the way that we do everything. And to. After studying so many different types of spirituality and what are my past lives and, you know, what's my karma? And like all these things, I realized it all, it all comes down to the heart. And that has really been the journey that I have been on since my divorce. You know, having my heart break was really my greatest heart opening. And I realized that the heart was really the connection between the lower three and the higher three chakras. The thing anahata, that really brings it all together. And I feel like everyone, like, talks about the heart. Like, every single song is about, like, the heart. My heart will go on. And we're just, yeah, whatever. But it's like no facts. Like, the heart is where it is at. And especially after sitting with San Pedro, I have realized that when our hearts are closed, we can't tune into our issue. We. We can't access our voices, we can't create our dharmas. We can't tune into our creative expressions or root down to earth, because if the heart is blocked, it's like a cage over ourselves. And what we're realizing now with science, and that's what this book and this conversation is going to be about as well as just, like, how it actually applies in our lives is the heart has more intelligence on the brain. You know, it's like the brain's on some bullshit. The brain. Oh, my God. If I listen to my brain all the time, I would not be here for sure. Probably be homeless. But the heart is actually that thing that guides us. And it's hard. Like, it is hard. Like, every single day, you know, you hear bad news and things happen to your friends and you're like, oh, my God, like, love is a liability. Like, let me, like, close my heart and protect myself and not love. But, like, I don't think any of us are trying to be like, in the Matrix, like, in cubicles, like, with zero emot. Because what's the point of life? You know, it's like life is here to open our hearts, break our hearts, and then simultaneously, it just makes us come more alive. And so if we want greater love, greater joy, greater expression, greater freedom, we gotta open up our hearts, which means.
We gotta feel, feel it all.
So I'm super excited because there is a very special guest on the podcast today who has literally written an entire book about this. And what's so inspiring for me is she also went through a divorce and opened her heart to find the greatest love of her life and healing, which I definitely wanna ask her. Lots of question. She's researched the science of the heart, but also ancient wisdom, yogic practices, like how the Vedas connect to science today, which is like, what we keep seeing, and shamanic practices and pagan practices. And, you know, science is really just keeping up with what the ancients once knew. So there's so much science of the heart. And she has broken them down into these five hearts that we have, which they said back in Vedic times. And she's kind of bringing them back to life today so we can see what stage of the heart development we are at and how this is an ongoing journey so we can know exactly what's the next step for us. Oh, my gosh, what an intro. Thank you so much. Love. I'm so excited to be here with you today and especially to talk about love, the heart, all these things which connect us all.
Well, I don't. I think I told you this last time I interviewed you, which is a few years ago, but the first time I heard about you, I was in high school. Oh, and so you must have been in your early 20s. It was when your first book came out.
Oh, my gosh. My. I was a baby.
How old were you?
I first started writing books. I would just have come back, like, back from backpacking. So I came back when I was around 25 years old, bright, just naive, you know, just so excited putting things out in the world. And my first book was meant to be a travel memoir. Actually, that's what I wrote a proposal for. And at the time, I had just. I was teaching yoga in New York City. I just started this free blog that was about traveling and it was also about food. I was going back to nutrition school. So my editor, who was at HarperCollins at the time, was like, why don't you try doing a food book first and then the travel book will be next? And then that sort of put me on a different path.
Girl, you popularized the green smoothies. Like, she pretty much invented green smoothies. I was at Sephora getting, like, my makeup done with my mom, and the makeup artist was like, you need to hear about this book. There's these glowing green smoothies, and you're not even need to wear makeup if you start drinking them. And I, like, my mom went to Barnes and Nobles, like, got your book immediately. And I was like, who is this, like, gorgeous girl? I'm like, and I connected with you so much because I was traveling and also vegan at the time. And, you know, kind of the brown, wavy hair. And I'm like, oh, my God, she's so amazing. So just pinching myself that you're here now. So cool.
Well, like you said, there's different pathways in, right? So for me, I had a lot of anxiety. I had a lot of low self worth. I was a perfectionist. I had bulimia in high school. So I was trying to find. Back then, I wouldn't have said this, but I was trying to find a better sense of peace and feeling good. So after college, I saved some money and I started traveling. It was meant to be two weeks. I ended up traveling for over three years. So I was in over 50 countries, and I was sort of running away from myself. But then we realized we can't run away from ourselves. So then I was in India for several months, and I started learning about meditation. I learned about Yogananda, whose practices I follow to this day. Kriya Yoga. I became plant based for meditation reasons. And so the pathway in was really food and taking care of my body because I had abused it for so long. And then it just kept growing out into what we call today our four cornerstones at Saluna. My brand, which is food, body, emotional well being, spiritual growth. So my books have sort of emulated that journey. This is my eighth book.
And, guys, she was like the health coach for Drew Barrymore and Channing Tatum. So we're gonna leave that right there. Street cred.
It was this funny part of my life because I had just come back from backpacking, and I was walking around New York City still kind of in my backpack or clothes. And this blog just started reaching celebrities. My first celebrity was Uma Thurman. So I got on a film set, and I was starting to work with all these people, and I was like, this is a funny part of my Dharma, because I don't own a T. I didn't plan this. I didn't ask for this. I don't watch TVs, I don't watch movies. But I'm working with. Working with Robert Downey Jr. And Reese Witherspoon and everybody, Chris Hemsworth. People are like. All those people are amazing. I've never really seen any of their movies, but what it did was it gave me this picture, I think, into this different side of the collective. The fact that we really are equal. We're all looking for the same things. We're all one. We hear that sometimes, but sometimes I think in our society, we still put people on pedestals, and we still think this is the thing that's gonna make us happy, right? Or this. You know, I need this money. I need these achievements. But really working with all these different types of people, and I used to live with them for four months at a time for film shoots before I had kids. We realized that it comes down to this self connection. It comes down to this heart work. If we don't have this, our awakened heart, we're gonna not enjoy life. We're not gonna feel fulfilled. We're not gonna feel peaceful. You really go wherever you go. You can have the best diet as well. I worked with so many people that had excellent diets. You know, no bloating, perfect skin, lists of this and this for beauty, but so unhappy. So it really just taught me these lessons about going in deeper and deeper into ourselves, into the heart, which we can all do.
Because you're listening to this podcast, I'm going to make a quick assumption about you. Your friends come to you for advice whenever you're at a party. Someone corners you at the side of the snack table and starts telling you all of their childhood dramas. And you actually love diving deep into spiritual topics. And you have a really good way of communicating with people. So the best way to actually create a career doing this is through coaching. But I know a lot of people, they're like, I don't even know where to start. I don't even know what type of coach I would be. So I've created a quick, easy quiz to discover your unique coaching style. So there are three categories. The intuitive, transformational or empathetic coach. So the intuitive one really works with your intuition. You're able to receive downloads. You just have insights about people. The transformational one has more of that fire energy. You love to keep it real and help people go through the deepest phoenix, rising from the ashes moments in their lives. And the empathetic coach really loves to listen, hold space. They're very grounded, nurturing. So if you're curious which type you are, you can try my free quiz@quiz.Highestself institute.com Again, that's quiz.highselfinstitute.com which is my school that certifies spiritual life coaches and you can find that link in the show notes. I'm super excited to see what type of coach you are because I'm a hire you one day. So trust your intuition. Trusty in wisdom, everything is energy. Have you ever walked into a room and just felt like, okay, some went down here or had a conversation with someone and just felt like their mind is somewhere else, or been to a gorgeous sacred site like the pyramids of Egypt or Machu Picchu and felt the ancient frequency and soul resonance there. Maybe that you even had past lives there. So we are all energetic beings. We're always picking up on subtleties, but we're also picking up on the subtleties of being in a big city with wi fi and EMFs and just all the things we're exposed to on a daily basis. Which is why it's really important to help neutralize that kind of low vibe energy so we can be in our high vibe energy. So I did an amazing podcast with the founder of Leela Quantum technology named Philip all about this, which I'm going to link in the show notes below. And what's so cool about his products is they have been studied by the Emoto Institute in Japan, finding that just three minutes of putting water in their quantum block optimizes water unlike any other device or method they've seen before. So drinking the structured water provides more energy production, has a positive impact on aging, decreases inflammation, and so much more. And their latest third study test revealed a remarkable 20 to 29% increase in ATP production, which is a vital process for cells. So I've been using my Lilo quantum tech ever since that interview a few months ago, and I feel more vibrant than ever before. So if you want to give it a try, you can receive 10% off your order with coupon code sahara@lilaq.com that's 10% off with coupon code sahara@Lilaq.com and you can find that link in the show notes. So trust your intuition, trust your inner wisdom, trust your inner guidance. So I want to talk about how you healed and opened your heart to love again after your divorce. I feel that is the hardest thing in, like witnessing myself, like in relationship now. I'm like, it's scary, you know, because you're like, are those red flags? Are they not? So what was that process like for you?
Okay, so, and I would say mind blowing love, because that only happened once. What was I in before? So this relates to the five stages of the heart and the Vedas. And Swami Sri Yukteswara says we all go through these stages. So the first stage is the dark heart. And this is where we're in confusion, fear. Our heart and our brains aren't talking. So maybe we're making choices in our relationships out of fear or abandonment issues, which was definitely part of my trauma or safety issues. And then the next stage is the propelled heart. So this is. We're propelled into action action to feel good about ourselves. We're trying to get those achievements. We might pick a partner because it fits in or it looks good or, you know, it's neat and tidy. It fits into our life plan. The ego wants us to be married and have a house and two kids by the time we're 30 or whatever it is. And then there's the steady heart, right?
So we got the dark heart, which is kind of like a dark night of the soul. Would you say?
That's it. And we can kind of experience all of these at certain times, but we tend to be in one stage more at A time. So then the third stage is the second steady heart. And this is. We start to realize we are the anchor for ourselves. And there's this place inside of us that is the anchor, no matter what big emotions we experience or what life experiences we experience. And then the fourth stage is the devotional heart. And this is where we become more devoted to love. Unconditional love, peace, connection. More than external goals. It doesn't mean that we don't want them. And in fact, as we become more coherent and connected, we tend to create what we want in the world far easier. And then the fifth stage is the clear heart. It means our heart becomes one with the universal heart. This is the true connection. No separation between us and our brothers and sisters. Full harmony. So dark, Propelled, steady, devoted, clear. And the reason this relates to your question is because looking back, I spent most of my life in the propelled heart. I think most of society is in the propelled heart with a lot of dark heart. Right. A lot of fear, a lot of confusion. So at the time when I went through my break, the partner I chose was fitting in with my life. At the time, he was a really big Hollywood agent. We met through a very big client that I had. We went to premieres together. We seemed to know all the Hollywood people. We went to all these parties. We lived this life. I lived in this cushy house with him. It was like, oh, yeah, this feels really great.
You were at the age that you felt like, okay, this is when I get married.
Yeah, I mean, I guess. I don't know.
I never kind of never had that.
Okay, I never had that. But it was more like. I don't know, it just kind of, like, fit in. And then what happened was a big life bomb, I would call it, where my mom passed away really suddenly, and we found out she had cancer on Valentine's Day. And then she passed within six weeks. Like, she seemed like the healthiest person. So this was like, holy crap, anything can happen at any time. So it kind of put me in this, you know, dark heart phase where I felt like I couldn't trust life. And I just felt really angry. You know, the stages of grief. And then Sahara. Then I woke, I started looking around, and I was like, this is not it. I'm getting goosebumps when I think about it. And at the time, we were engaged, so we weren't actually married, but we had a child together. My older son, who was, you know, is and was the love of my life. He wasn't even a year old, so I Just lost my mom. I was a new mom. And then I was like, life is right here. Like, what do I really want? How do I want to feel? And I didn't know everything, but I knew that I wanted a closeness, a real love, real connection. So I remember it was New Year. I looked up at the full moon and I looked at my partner, and I was like, I'm leaving. And it was just this clarity that came in, right? And it was just like that. So I moved out.
So you didn't, like, talk to any friend? You just knew and trusted it?
No, this is the thing. This is the ego. I was kind of embarrassed, I think, to, like, this facade of, like, this. Everyone's like, you have this amazing life, and you live in this amazing house in Venice and everything's beautiful, and you have this beautiful child. Together we went on these fancy trips. So I didn't talk to anybody, actually. It was kind of just in me. But there was a storm brewing. And after my mom passed away, it was like, boom. Like, it was already cracking. And so then I decided to move out. And I talked to this monk at the Self Realization Fellowship, which is Yogananda's meditation center, where I meditate and I practice Kriya Yoga, as I mentioned. And he said, treat your home like an ashram for five months, Meaning just focus on yourself, go deep. So this is where I meditated a lot. And I read scriptures. I went back to the Bhagavad Gita. I read the Bible. I read, you know, know, Eckhart Tolle. Like, I was going into all my Yogananda books, and I didn't go out that much. I saw some friends. I go to dinner a little bit, but mostly I was home. And by the way, my dad was living with us. I was like, what is going on in my home?
You had a newborn. A baby.
A baby. I was telling a new mom. I was, by the way, my mom's from the Philippines, where divorce is illegal. So this was, like, scared to tell that part of the family. Like, I just felt like such a loser. I felt like I didn't deserve love. I put so much, you know, so many stories around this title of being a single mom especially. And then, like, breakup alone. I was like, who's going to want me now? I have a kid by myself. Like, just all this stuff. It felt so heavy. It was my rock bottom. But after five months, I started to feel this different energy. And so what I would say here, as far as the stages, because I didn't have the Language. Then I started to find my steady heart. I found it. I started to myself. So when we talk about the heart, like you said, it's not just like, oh, this feels good. There's a really practical nature to it. The heart is another brain. In children and babies, the heart forms. You see the heartbeat on the monitor before the brain forms. So there's this different type of intelligence that is intuitive. It creates emotional intelligence. It creates higher health. It steadies us in ourself. And again, we can get more into the science in a moment. But I started to feel this anchor in myself. And one thing I'll say, and we'll also get into this. There's a field that's created by your heart. It's a hundred times stronger than the brain, and it can be measured in science by magnetometers. So everything is light and energy. So when you become steady, you create a more coherent field. So your heart, brain, and nervous system are lined up. But it means you perceive life differently. And guess what? People perceive you differently. So if you're not steady yet, there's chaos in the field. And even if you don't realize it, you create. You attract chaotic people, chaotic situations, even though consciously you're like, I want this kind of person. When your energy doesn't lie so you can be. I realized looking back why I was in relationships and situations I was in, because I wasn't studying myself. So then I started to study myself, going to this work. And then guess what randomly. Sahara. Someone who came on my podcast invited me to this random dinner party in Venice. I hardly knew this person. He was like, oh, a group of friends are getting together. So I was like. Something in my heart said, yes, go to this party. Because intuition, by the way, can be trained and it can be turned on the more clear we are in these neural pathways. So it becomes easier to make those right decisions to feel instead of with the ego. So I said, okay, I'll go to this dinner party. So I went, and guess what? I met hubby. I met John, my husband. Because I said to myself, I don't. I'm gonna just live my life.
And did you know instantly what was that like?
Okay, 15 minutes, girl. I just was like, this is weird because usually I would never be attracted to this guy. He was like, full tattoo man. And he had some, I would say, questionable tattoos, including one with, like, a naked woman that would, like, usually be like, is this guy a player? Gold grilling his teeth, talking about smoking meat? Whereas I'm plant based, like, completely the Opposite. But there was this heart resonance, right? There was this clarity in my field. Now I can have this language to talk about. And there's science to this, right? And so I felt him. And here's a guy, Sahara, who said, I will never get married. He told all his friends he's never been married. He'd never been married. He went in for a vasectomy, said, I will never have kids. Was one of those, this guy is very happy being a bachelor.
How old was he?
He was at the time when we met. We, you know, 37. So he was like in 15 minutes he said he knew I was going to be his wife. So I was like, well, I gotta leave the party. I was two in the morning. I said, I do a beach walk every morning. This is when I was living around here, you know, I do a beach walk at 7 in the morning. And he's like, I'll come. I was like, really? Because this is like five hours. So he said, he shows up, we go on this two hour beach walk. Amazing conversation at the end. I was like, well, I don't usually ask guys out, but I have this speaking thing for Levi's tonight who I had a partnership with. I said, do you wanna come? So he came with me to the Levi's event. So we hung out three times in 24 hours. Took Sunday off. Monday we went to dinner and he told me he loved me. And I write this story, by the way, in this book. Cause it was so mind blowing. And I didn't say I loved you back, by the way. Right? Cause I was still kind of in that, you know, just a little bit. There was.
Were you scared you're being love bombed?
No, it was just so like. But years. It got real later. I'll tell you in a minute. So it was like then we became inseparable. Within six weeks, we did this really sacred trip and we actually went to some of the sacred sites in the Middle East. On the way, on the plane, I had this little guidebook. And one of the places that really called out to me was the room of the Last Supper. You know, and I'm yogi and open to all spiritual traditions. I did grow up Catholic. But one of the things in the book it said was not only was this the Last Supper, but it's when the Holy Ghost spirit came down into all these disciples and they spontaneously started speaking in different tongues to spread the word of spirit. There's something about the way they wrote it. I was like, oh my God, I want to go there. But it said, beware, because there's hundreds and hundreds of pilgrims. One of the most popular sites, thousands of people. It's so hard to get in. But get this. We go there in August, which is one of the busiest times. We get near the little glass window outside. There's the guy in the window.
This is Jerusalem, or where is it?
This is in Jerusalem. Not one human. Not one human was inside. I felt like my mom. So John said. Who had never met my mom because she had passed. He said he heard this voice, like, do it now. Do it now. He's walking around with a ring. So I go down. You descend the steps. And the energy is so strong. I know you're sensitive to energy too. It was like, boom, boom. So the second I get into this room of the Last Supper, I sink to my knees because I can't stand. It was so palpable. And then I'm kind of, like, out of it. And I looked up and John was there, and he was pulling me up, getting down on his knee and proposing. This is within six weeks of getting meeting. So then we're on this magical journey after that. We get back on the plane ride home, he goes, I can't take it. I don't want to be not married to one minute later. So we land, we go straight to the courthouse. Courthouse is full. But in two days, we can get married at the Compton courthouse. So we get married two days later with his best friend, Emerson. He immediately, by the way, embraced my son, who was two and a half at the time, instantly became, you know, papa. Then we had a party a few months later, like a wedding with our friends and family, and then got pregnant within a couple months after that. Bought a house together in Topanga and then got our farm in Hawaii. And then this is where shit get real again.
So now happily ever after, like, and subscribe.
No, there's amazing parts, but this is.
Oh, no, there was more.
No, the layers and the layers. So I was like, okay, I know this is this wild, uncontrollable love, right? On the other side of fear is love. So it was such a strong love that my fears quelled because I didn't want to lose the love. But guess what? Fear doesn't go away until you process it and digest it through the heart. So once we got married, I was like. And then Covid was happening. I was like, you know, abandonment issues, trauma triggers. Are you really gonna treat me well? Are you. Are you gonna abandon. Are you gonna hurt me? So there was, like, so many things that came up, like pushing away. And then his trauma came up, which is not wanting to be told what to do, which is why he was a bachelor for so long and independence. So there was so much that we had to work through in those first two years of marriage.
How are you working through it?
A lot. So this is where the heart work actually, you know, when you cry out, I feel like when you really cry out that you're ready for the teacher. The teacher comes when you cry out to spirit. I need help, I need support. So I had studied Yogananda so deeply, his guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar, wrote a book called the Holy Science. And I had never really gotten into it or read it. And I read this book and Sahar, oh my God. There was this section on the five hearts and he's talking about these stages of the human heart and how ultimately we need nothing outside of our hearts, but it was about steadying the heart. It was all these things that he was like speaking to me. And this is where I started to take the really deep heart dive. At the same time, I then connected to the Heartmath Institute, who ultimately we did our heart aligned meditation study with. And taking this deep dive into science. I was like, oh my gosh. Incoherence to clear heart harmony corresponds to these Vedic teachings on awakening the heart. So then I started doing these practices and I started meeting with Heartmath and doing some of their practices and their research which are incorporated in the book. This ultimately saved my life. I would say my marriage got 90% better. I would say my energy went up 70%. And listen, I'd been working on nutrition for so many years, working on my gut, health, meditating, living this lifestyle, connecting in nature, grounding. I thought I had energy, but then you realize how much energy is pulled down in incoherence when we are battling ourselves in these smaller and bigger ways. The thoughts, the self doubt, the overthinking, all this depletes our vitality in so many ways. So my energy, my clarity, my lightness just went through the roof. So I started doing these practices and here's the thing, and you and I were talking about this a little bit. Does John do this work? Not so much, but I do the work. So I've held space for him to come up and our communication is better. So. And he's talked to like a healer therapist as well. So he has his own ways and I have mine. But I can say with a hundred thousand percent, like, this is why I'm so passionate about sharing this. This, this is the gateway that ties everything in our lifestyle together. And it's right here. It's free. We just have to learn to turn on this heart. Intelligence and there's tools and there's science and it all aligns.
So what does that look like in practice? Is it like meditations to connect to your heart?
So the Heart Aligned Meditation, which we did a study on, is an eight minute meditation that anyone can practice. We have tracks to go with this book. There's more about the science in here and we can run through the steps if you're ever interested in it, or we can do it in a little bit. But basically, you know how a lot of meditations I started to realize this, are kind of disassociative, taking us out of life. Imagine you're in a happy waterfall and that's, you know, fine. And it can be helpful for people to relax. But boom, we wanna show up in our power. You talk so much about, you know, beautifully being that queen, being that multidimensional queen. Be. To be queen, to be here, we need to be here. That means we need to be in our hearts. So this is a heart based meditation. And what we found in our study is that coherence went up an average of 29% in four weeks. So what does that mean? That means coherence means your heart and your brain are talking to each other. It means more flow, it means more intuition. It means we can train our coherence capacity. It means more energy on a daily basis, better hormonal balance. And in a month, guess what? Cortisol went down 23%. DHEA went up 100%. DHA's Vitality. DHE is essential for fertility, by the way. In today's world where there's so much stress and so much, you know, fragmentation, we wonder why fertility is such a big issue. Right, so this is a meditation that builds over time, your coherence capacity. So what you do is you go into the heart. So even now, let me run through it real quick. And then there's more steps. So just by now. And we can. Yeah, we'll do it with our eyes closed. If you just shift. We'll do an abbreviated version. If you shift your awareness to your heart right now. And anyone listening can do this with us. You can touch your heart or not. It depends on what you're drawn to. This alone, we feel it intuitively. Here's my heart. And also science published in the American Journal of Cardiology shows that just shifting to your heart alone starts to rewire your nervous system. This starts to change your perceptions of life, this starts to change your field. Something as simple as this shifting to your heart. So now we're gonna take a few heart focused breaths, which means we're going to imagine that we're breathing in and out of our heart like a giant lung. So I'll do the counts. 5 in, 5 out. This is known as coherence breathing. 0.01 Hz, known to create that coherence in your heart that's syncing up. So we'll inhale for a count of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And we'll exhale out of your heart. 1, 2, 3, 4,. 5. And once again inhaling for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And exhaling out for 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5. Now, without counting, just imagine. Keep imagining you're breathing in and out of your heart. And while you're doing that, I want you to imagine, recall someone or something that makes you feel appreciation, which is a mix of gratitude and awe, approval. It could be your pets, could be a beautiful sunset you saw on a trip, it could be a family member. Once you have that person or experience, don't focus. Drop the visual and just focus on that feeling in your heart, which may feel expansive, it may feel tingly, warm. Focus on appreciation and we're going to sustain it for just a moment and one more moment, feeling that amazing flow, that expansive energy of appreciation. And now you can bring your hands to your heart or Anjali Mudra prayer in front of your heart. Just take a moment to thank your beautiful heart and its amazing wisdom and anything else you feel grateful for. And then you can open your eyes.

I'm so excited to hopefully be on your podcast. Yeah, it was so beautiful. When I pictured, I pictured my dog and I could just feel this like lightness and openness and spaciousness in my chest and. And you know, I realized all the ways, even just in conversation, I hold my breath, I hold my heart. It's like even if there's nothing, it's just maybe we walk through life like that. But when you think of those precious things which are probably like your children, your pets and your is like probably the three things in the world.
Yes. You know, so what we did and just feel how open your eyes are even more glowy. Right. There's a different energy in the room and I'm getting goosebumps. So there's these hard based emotions. So if you look at this chart and you guys, you can see that this is what our HRV pattern is like when we're in anger and this is like when we're in appreciation. So see these big smooth sine waves? So appreciation is the easiest of the heart based emotions to access at will. Sometimes if we're really in the dark heart moment. If we're feeling fearful or confused, it's hard to just feel love or peaceful. But usually we can think of something, your dog, this beautiful plant, to feel some level of appreciation. So when you do this meditation, and there's also in the life moment techniques in the book that I teach that you can do in three to 10 seconds, what happens is you start to change these waves. This means your brain thought, your thoughts, you're thinking start to change. This means your nervous system starts to get out of sympathetic and into parasympathetic. This means you stop wasting energy, you go more into rest and digest. This is incredibly nourishing for your gut health, incredibly nourishing for practical things like better digestion, less bloating. So this starts to change your life. So the more you do this meditation, let's say in the morning, you build, it's like a muscle, those neural networks, because like I said, There's 40,000 neurons in the heart. So when we hear about neuroplasticity, it doesn't just apply to the brain. The more you do this, you become more coherent. Which means as you step into your day, more and more, day after day, you're more clear, you're more calm, you become more in the steady heart. And that's why the participants in our study, 29% increase in four weeks. That means they're almost 30% more healthy in all levels, more vital. And that's something that just happened in that. There's also practices in here as we go into the different stages, steady in life, to anchor yourself when big sensations and emotions come, which, by the way, are of the ego, they're not of the heart. Sometimes we think jealousy and frustration and anger, these are hard emotions. These are not. These are of the erratic ego. The heart is so calm and still and sees solutions and connections and one, you know, unity, like we're oneness. So there's practices to steady yourself through that. There's an amazing forgiveness practice in the devoted heart because once we pull out the surface thorn, there's the bigger blocks, right? I had to really forgive myself. I had to forgive my child's father, which, you know, some of the things weren't even his fault. That's just who he was. And I had to forgive myself for putting myself in certain situations. There's just a lot of things I realized I was holding onto. But really forgive, not from the head, not from a linear place, but from the heart's intelligence, the heart's awakening power. So there's a lot of of practices in here and knowledge that is again, it's just so practical. The heart is so practical. This isn't like, you know, woo woo or sentimental or this feels nice. When you turn on the heart's power, you make better decisions, you're more clear, you waste less energy, you can create what you want. Your field changes, you can attract more, you digest better, your hormones, balance. There's also research studying here on these heart based practices where let's say six minutes, five to six minutes of anger. Six. After six hours, your immunity as measured by IgA, a biomarker, was still down. When you're doing these heart based practices, your immunity goes way up. Isn't this amazing?
Yeah. I love the connection between appreciation and forgiveness because I found myself and my own, you know, divorce healing at first. You know, I also love the Byron, Katie's the work and you know, a few days after finding out about the infidelity, I'm like, what could I potentially like be grateful for for this? Like I could not think of anything. And I'm like, okay, well I'm grateful that this happened because I got to keep my dog. If that's it, at least I got that. And then as I went further along, I'm like, oh, I'm grateful because now I can travel. I'm grateful because now I can, you know, try on these different archetypes within myself and these new sides of myself. Now I became an artist, now I this, now I that. And, and forgiveness for me came in a lot of different waves.
Yes.
You know, like there's like first. Yeah, the first layer, another layer. And then, you know, underneath it was another thing. And then finally when I was truly able to forgive, which was through San Pedro and seeing the full circle of that initiation, I just had so much love and gratitude for him because I was like, wow. Like I so deeply appreciate his soul for choosing to be the villain in my story because it was the greatest catalyst of my life.
That's it. So there's this stage beyond the clear heart where we just start to see this perfection in everything that we couldn't see before. So I talk about that as well. There were times where I was like, oh, I wish that my parents paid more attention to me. I felt so neglected as a child. They were working all the time, even though they were trying to create a better life for us and financially they had to hustle. My mom was an immigrant from the Philippines, but there was a lot of resentment. So I was like, for the first level, it Was like, oh, okay, I forgive them. They were doing their best. Whatever. Still kind of a story. And then the next level, like you said, the clear heart is like, there's nothing to forgive, actually, because I am who I am. This amazing life journey that spirit created for me alone. This unique journey for us to grow into our strength and to step into that real power. It needed all this drama. It needed all these parts. And so your, you know, your ex husband played this role, you know, when you have to label as a villain. He was this growth, you know, insertion in your life.
Totally afterwards I was like, thank you so much for everything.
Wow. And it takes time to get there. Right. So if you.
Over a year and a half. Yeah.
Listening to this and it's like, I don't get it. Like, I'm so angry at my friend for not showing up or this person lied to me or whatever. The heart will awaken in its own timing. And that's one of the things that I talk about here. So there's moments where you get that clear heart and you get the devoted heart. And then you may feel these dark nights of the soul, which we still all go through, but it does trend up. So we don't wanna rush, we don't wanna push the heart's awakening. You do the practices consistently and some of them are, like I said, three to 10 seconds. And just having this real knowledge and wisdom energetically, spiritually, scientifically around the heart starts to change your relationship with how you see life. And so it unfolds in its own timing.
So what is your. Your perspective on, like, rage rituals then? Like, people who, like, will practice. Yeah. You know, hitting something to get their anger out. Do you feel that that's helpful to release the anger or do you feel them then? That's being in the practice of anger.
So I think there's different pathways up the mountain. But there is research. And there was a researcher, I believe it was, I want to say, Boston University. I referenced some of his research.
That's where I went to school.
Is it Y, Boston or Penn? Maybe I forget his university, but I read his study and his name is Aaron, Dr. Aaron Siegman. And one of the things he found is that when we indulge an emotion like anger, we actually keep the anger of energy alive. And it actually. It's like searing. It's like picking up a hot cold. We actually hurt ourselves. And also the research from HeartMath would also support that. Going into anger keeps more anger. Remember the five minutes their study was recalling an anger incident and your IGA went down six hours. So what this perspective is is rather than going into the rage and going into the anger, you go into your heart and then you go into those coherence emotions like appreciation, and you find that steadiness and you digest and you process the anger. You don't pretend it's not there. You don't try to push it down, but there's this way to digest it without keeping its energy so alive in your life. So for me, processing a lot of anger, processing a lot of, you know, abandonment issues and things, this has been the way. And the research around the heart coherence shows that. And from a health perspective, Sigmund Freud for a time said, you know, it's really great to just get the anger out. Later, he discontinued that practice because as he went along in his research and seeing what his clients, he realized that that wasn't really getting it out. So I talk about that in the book as well. So there's different techniques and practices. I'm not negating anything, but this way of the heart is saying that the heart's power is so strong, this can hold the space for me to let go of that anger. I don't have to go into the anger to let go of it, but rather be in these emotions which are more powerful. Compassion, for self, care, love, love, birthing more love, birthing more appreciation. You said you could see your life and then little by little, just like digestion, which is a big part of my pathway as well, like talking, you know, so bloated, it was so constipated, all these things. But you start to digest these emotions and it's like pulling a thorn out.
Yeah. And I find that when the emotion is there, like, if you're genuinely feeling angry, then that's the invitation to process that anger, to be honest with that anger. But we don't need to go and hunt for the anger.
That's right.
We don't need to, like, be like, oh, well, I should be able to. And, you know, and there might be a stage in your life that anger is more present. I also think there's some people, like, some people are more prone to certain emotions. Have you noticed that, like, some people tend to get more angry, some people tend to get more sad, or what do you feel about that?
Okay, so the brain and the amygdala is where we store these emotional responses. These patterns come about. Right. So this happens. You know, traffic comes, I get angry like this, or this person says something, I easily get triggered, or this happens. I have this cloak of sadness kind of over my life or whatever it is. So this could be from childhood. This could even be from past life. Like, who knows? But it's stored in there somewhere. So what the research shows again from HeartMath, are these neural networks, these reprogramming. The reprogramming that you can do through the heart means the heart starts to get between that trigger and the brain. Just going off the ego, just saying, okay, I'm an angry person. Angry person. Now we can start to rewire. Now we build our coherence capacity so we can start to change and break these patterns. And Sahara, I had such deep patterns. I had these triggers because of my neglect not being seen. So someone interrupted me. I would get really angry. Like, all these little things which no one, you know, other people that didn't have that same trauma wouldn't care about. If my husband said something like, oh, you're not seeing me. We caused this big fight. But then through my heart, which is expansive versus constricting, like, the ego just allowed me to really steady and see the bigger picture, which I could never see before, and start to transcend those triggers. So I really believe the heart's power, no matter what we've been through and it's on. It's in its own timeframe, Right? But there's incredible healing that happens to the heart. Like, real healing, real quantum leaps. Things that I saw. I started bringing this work to my clients. Things that people have been working on for years, like, really quickly could move through even food cravings and ways that they just kept going to food because of all these unprocessed emotions through the heart. It was like, whoa, I can have a different relationship with myself, with food, with other people. Blows my mind.
So if your husband said or did something that triggered you, what would you do in that moment?
That. Okay, so I'll give you an example. It happened the other day. We're always working on the heart, right? So someone sent me this YouTube video, and this is kind of amazing. You just never. There's this guy. I forget his name, but he lives in Qatar, and he. He started this whole sustainability movement. And he's opened all these amazing, you know, sustainability festival or whatever. And the beginning of the video, he goes, you know, it all started 10 years ago when he read my. I read the Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder, and I started to be more aware of what I was putting. So I showed it to him. And there's this little part of me still that's like, look. And Sometimes, you know, this is also, you know, female, masculine, feminine thing as well. I just wanted the acknowledgement of like, isn't this great? And right away his go to was, I probably know that guy. You know, I have all these people that I know over there in Qatar. Like, I'm doing a business trip there. And I was like, why do you have to say that? So then he goes to, well, I was just trying to help because maybe I could get you in touch with that guy.
And.
And so in the past, it would have just been like, I just needed this and like this. And he would have gotten angry. So what I did in that moment, and there's a technique here, and it's in the second heart stage, the propelled heart, and it's called the heart aligned harmonize method. So this is where we harmonize with life. Like in that moment, this is what's showing up. This is what my husband said. Not, I wish he said this or I wish it could be like this. So this is something you do in three to 10 seconds. So you go down into your heart, you go to a different place than where the problem is, which in this moment is the thoughts that are coming out of your head. So you actually shift down into your heart and then there's some breath work and techniques to turn on the heart's power. You're not running off to meditate, but you can actually create harmony in three to 10 seconds. I do it all the time with my kids are driving me crazy or having a tantrum or not listening. My older 1 is 8 now, so sometimes he's like, I don't have to listen to you. Back to my neglect trauma. Like, he doesn't see me. I'll turn away. I like washing dishes. Boom. Shift in, do that technique. And amazing. We went on to heaven. Amazing.
You think of appreciation for just any kind of love in that moment.
Well, no, it's like a six. It's like six quick steps. But yeah, you shift in, you do even like one or two of those heart focused breaths. You can shift to appreciation. And then instead of following this pattern, you break the pattern in that moment of I'm about to get angry, I'm about to feel this overwhelm, I'm about to go into a stress response. So you break it by going into this different place, which is the heart, and then you take these coherence breaths, which are a bit different, and then you come back into life able to harmonize with what is in your current situation. So I use it many times a day. It's very, very practical. You do the meditation, hardline meditation in the morning to build your coherence capacity. And then there's these techniques during the day to stay more in your heart.
I love that. I feel like we all need it because sometimes like, especially with social media, I feel like you're in a good mood. You go on social media, you see one thing and it could be like something happening in the world or someone send you a message or something and then all of a sudden you're like out of it. And then you hold onto that energy for the rest of the day. Unless you do something like this. That clears it, you know.
And also, you know what, love? I've always been so big on a morning practice and I, you know, as an ayurvedic practitioner.
Yeah, what's your morning practice like now?
So it's always, you know, hot water with lemon, taking our saluna spo probiotics, drinking the glowing green smoothie. When I feel hunger, I always do the meditation and the heart, the Kriya yoga from Yogananda and this 8 minute heart aligned meditation. Because the biggest change I noticed, like I said, it's a, it's a coherence capacity which means resilience again against stress response, against triggers. And now I've been doing it, you know, for a couple years, so it just gets stronger and stronger. And you can measure it. We measured it in the, in the study with these M wave pro measurements you can measure your HRV patterns. So I don't get as triggered. I used to get really triggered by social media. I'm like, like why are you saying that it's not true or you know, this like you said, this happening in this part of the world or the news or whatever it is. But I could honestly say don't go on social media first thing. Get yourself coherent, get yourself centered in your body, grounded in your body before you try to go to the outside world. Because the outside world is going to pull you more into ego and incoherence and then it dilutes your expression, your creativity, your voice because you're in that kind of incoherent different state. So I don't do it first thing ever.
Yeah, totally.
That's a big part of my practice too. I don't check emails right away. I will check text just to see if there's any emergencies with family or anything. It's just like, you know, the mom part of me. My kids are always there. Four of us still co sleep but I don't go on The Internet, it's so important.
And yeah, even like how you said just placing your hand on your heart, I feel like there's an instant connection and dropping in. And sometimes I don't know if you have this in your book. I kind of like, imagine myself clearing my heart with my fingers and I'm kind of like opening it up. And of course, in yoga, there's so many heart openers. And even like in tantra, like breast massage opens your heart. So I feel there is this massive heart revolution happening right now.
So all the ways, right, Putting your hand, doing these other practices, it means you're putting attention on your heart. So it feels intuitively like this shift. And again, scientifically, when you're focusing on your heart, you're actually changing this triad, this connection with heart, brain, nervous system. Why does this matter? Because it means your perceptions change. So when your perceptions change, your thoughts change, and when your thoughts change, your life changes. So if you're perceiving annoyance, you're perceiving, I don't like this about that person, or this is so annoying, or why is the situation happening versus kind of sitting back in this flow, in harmony with life. And then you open up the field. You open up to synchronicities, you open up to deeper connections. You open up to the love that you're looking for. Right.
It's so crazy how the people around you change. So growing up, my parents are from Iran. No one says, I love you. It's like they don't even have that word in the culture in a family context. So growing up, no one ever said, I love you. They're also never physically affectionate. They don't really hug or anything. It's very like your dad, you know, respect. He comes home from dinner, you sit, you're perfect, you ask him questions, he doesn't ask you questions, and then he goes off.
And.
And that's your relationship with your dad. And. And so anyways, and. And I kind of just had to come to this place of accepting that while after my divorce, like, how was I in a relationship with someone who is so emotionally unavailable and avoidant? Wonder how, you know, I had normalized. I just thought, men are all emotionally unavailable. That's just what they're like. You just have to accept that. That. So as I'm doing so much deep heart work on myself, you know, in. In a ceremony, I saw that there was this black tar covering my heart from all the times when I was a little girl and my dad would get really angry and I would feel so helpless. And I would be in my room by myself and be like, I hate him. I hate him so much. And that would create this black tar, this black tar that like calcified on my heart that caused me to like, not deeply be able to feel and definitely not co regulate with a man because Neural patterns.
Yeah, yeah, all of it.
Exact. So as I was like clearing it, all of a sudden these like, butterflies flew out of my heart that were in there. All this love I had inside of me that I wanted to share, but it was never like, safe to so. And it's been a journey of continuing to do this work and a daily practice. But the other day my dad called me. He never calls me. He called me and he's like, oh, I want to talk about your portfolios and stuff. Which is like his love language. And I was like, okay, this at the end, he's like, okay, love you. I'm like, what? Never in my life, 33 years of living has he said that.
Miracles, yeah, happen every day.
It's crazy. And just like, just. And noticing, like, you know, relating now versus the relationship I was with before. This person is so loving and in his heart and emotionally available and it just is rewritten any story that I had before that. That doesn't even exist in men.
Wow. Well, these are the quantum leaps that can happen through the heart. And because we open up past this armor, like you said, which can feel so tight, so constricting, we have these ideas, we have these narratives, we have these stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and other people. So part of the, you know, stage three, the steady heart, is that we realize what is real and true. Our hearts never go away. So what does it mean? It means we can let everything burn. All the ideas, the relationships that don't work anymore. Letting go of these expectations, oh, I thought I would have a, you know, house by the time I'm 35 or whatever. All these baby, whatever it is, just let it burn. And then what's left on the other side is what is really real and true. And then it just opens up to the most biggest abundance, Abundance of love, connection, success, opportunities, creative expression, being your true self. So we just let all that ego, just let all those old things burn because it just holds us back. And that's the fallacy, the propelled heart. We think we need these degrees, this approval, being part of this group, joining this club, you know, whatever, like making X amount of money, like all of these things to feel okay or to fit in. But that will never satisfy the heart so like Swami Sri Yukteswar says, ultimately in the Vedic text, he says the heart actually needs nothing outside of itself. He's nothing outside of itself. So the journey is to discover that. And once we have that self reliance, like now I thoroughly, you know, wild, crazy, mind blowing, heart blowing love with my husband. But I also know I'm okay in me. So it's opened the door to that. A lot of people try to go straight to that love and bypass, well, am I steadying my heart or I am I in a dark heart stage? Because if so we're are going to attract chaotic, ultimately dark heart energy. Yeah.
I remember when I first, you know, experienced the divorce and I was like, I want to be back in love again. I miss love so much, you know, And I felt like I was being, I was calling it cosmically cock flocked. But now I can see it was a divine blessing. Yeah, thank God I did not manifest someone from that state because I had a void. I would have found someone else who had a void and instead the goddess was like, you're going to sit in this void until you realize it's not a void, it's you.
That's it. I feel sticky. It can feel heavy, but it can be digested. And I think that's the biggest thing in our culture. We feel something like, ooh, I don't like this, let me fix this. Or let me numb with wine or weed or Netflix or alcohol or maybe get right into another relationship. I don't like feeling lonely. Versus if I move through this, if I awaken my own heart on the other side is the most amazing things. And I say this from someone who had so much anxiety, so much of that propelled heart. Let me have my achievements. Play it safe, be with this guy, live this cushy life, check things off a box. It's never it. It's never is. Through the heart that we experience everything that we're looking for. And it's simple. I also say this over time, I've really simplified my diet, I've simplified my space. I don't like clutter. This heart work makes things so simple. It's just flowing from moment to moment, going with my intuition, having more energy, feeling connection, not these complicated stories, rethinking, oh, what did that person really mean? Or, or, you know, maybe I shouldn't have said that. When we come from our heart, it's simple. Life is very simple and becomes profound and the relationships become deeper. Everything just flows. But in the most incredible way. All these like complicated things and we were talking before all these, like, systems that are like this number and this, so that'd be great, too. But this is just right there. This power. Yeah.
And I feel like that simplicity is so needed in relationships because our society, we have dating apps, we have Instagram, we have so many things. So you can start to be like, am I in the right relationship? Because maybe there's someone who's more like this, or maybe there's someone who's more like that and that's that. Like, you know, you're wobbling, right, Rather than just, like, choosing to be in this. Because every relationship's gonna have its challenges, you know? And I feel coming back to love of, like. Like, if the love is there, you will always figure it out.
Well, that's it. Because we get confused and we wobble because we're up in the head or up in the ego. And so the ego and the mind are very tricky, and they have those circular thoughts, and then there's the doubt that comes in. So when I met my husband, if I had been in my ego, would never have talked to this guy. That just seemed so different and rough and, you know, just like. Not for me. But the heart resonance was so strong. It was like the heart opens the third eye as well. It opens the vision so you actually see and perceive more. So it's beyond that. So a lot of the doubt and the am I doing the right thing? The diff.
The protection, it's always that, well, the.
Space between the questions and the answers disappears with the heart. You're just in your intuition. You're just in this embodiment. You're just living it.
Whereas the heart is really calm, and the heart is this incredibly profound, wide reaching, expansive intelligence. So the heart isn't stuck on expectations. The heart perceives things in a different way. So a lot of times, if you're like, oh, I fell for this guy and it screwed up my life, you probably weren't in your steady heart. You were probably maybe in a dark heart stage, or your thoughts and your heart were out of whack and you couldn't really access the heart's power. So this takes some time and attention, but it's interwoven into your life. Like I said, a lot of these practices you can do when you're walking around, even as you and I are speaking and I'm completely present with you, there's part of me that's always with my heart. Right. And so things become more clear. It starts to actually. And all these reaction times, memory time, like all the cognitive functioning actually improves when we increase our heart coherence. This is all measured in science. So it means all these. We're always trying to go to neurotropics and neuro brainwave training and all these things. Brain, brain, brain. But actually heart will always help brain, heart will always help thoughts. And the heart's the feminine fake positive thinking, you know, just being of it. So the heart is this non linear. So it has these divine feminine qualities. It's not step by step pushing. Right. So the heart is this soft power that overcomes all.
I love it. The heart is where it's at.
I'm.
I'm excited to do all of these practices. So where can listeners get your new book that is available now?
Available anywhere books are sold pretty much online, Your local bookstore.
And is it on Audible as well?
It's going to be on Audible as well. I loved reading the book. I love it. Yay.
I'm so excited. So guys, be sure to check out the hidden power of the five hearts. We will have that link in the show. Note below and share this conversation with your friends, with, with your spouse, with someone you're, you're dating, thinking about dating. I mean imagine like starting a relationship. Like let's like do the heart coherence meditations together and oh my God. Because so much of the relationship advice out there is so in the mind, all this manipulation stuff and then you're just going to manifest someone who's also in the mind. But yes, when you're in the heart, it's like the people who are in the mind, they almost like they can't be with you anymore. And then you just find another heart person and it's so amazing. So yes, be sure to share this conversation, maybe have a little book club with it. Share with your friends. Be like, what did you pick up on? On let's try this meditation together. And this is how we can have more of these friendships and relationships in our lives. And be sure to leave a review. Share with us your biggest takeaway that you got from this conversation. And as a free gift. I will send you my womb meditation. So just leave a review, share with us what you loved, whether other conversations you would love to have here on the podcast. You can find the email that you can send it to in the show notes. All right. Thank you so much for being here and I'll see you in the next one.
