Build Your Wisdom by Becoming a Master Detective!

Sandi L. Boucher teaches Principle Eight: Praxis, a reflective practice for finding lessons in everyday events. She walks through the Master Detective game, a method her mother taught her, using three scenarios: arriving late to a meeting, sudden stomach pain, and waking unable to get out of bed. The practice asks what Creator might be signaling and how to act differently next time.
Foreign.
Hi, everybody, it's Sandy Boucher here once again. I'm Red Thunderbolt, woman of the Loon clan, a proud member of Seine river first nation in Northern Ontario. And I'm here this week to help you truly embrace prayer. Principle number eight. Now, number eight is all about Praxis, the practice of reflecting on how you feel or what happened in your world and asking yourself, what is the lesson here so that you can change your actions in the future. Now, I have a game that really helps you embrace that practice. And I actually made it part of one of my video courses last year. Year. So what I'm going to share with you today is actually a flashback video. Three questions that are going to get you starting to practice Praxis. And of course, if you need to re watch this and you're watching on Shaw Spotlight, just head over to my YouTube channel. This one you're going to want to watch a few times and share with your friends. Here it is.
We're gonna play a game. A game that I have been playing my entire life. A game taught to me by my mother, even though she didn't have the cute title I gave it. And I called the game Master Detective. And I actually even have a really cute image here. Hang on, I'll find it. Just a sec. There he is. Isn't he adorable? Every time I say the words Master Detective, I think of him. So we're going to play the game today. What I'm going to do is give you three different scenarios and I'm going to ask you a question. So Master Detective is all about observing and learning, not sitting in judgment. It's never about judgment, but looking at what's happening and thinking what's going on. Now, if there's one thing in the house I grew up in, we were never allowed to ask the question, why me? My mom banned us from ever saying those words. And if she heard us say it, she would always look at this and just say, you're asking the wrong question. The question is, what is the lesson here? That's what we're doing today. I'm going to give you some scenarios and I'm going to ask you, what do you think the lesson is? What do you think creators trying to tell you, remind you, give you a hint of. And here's a hint for me. Creator is never condemning you. He's not trying to point out to you that you're being an idiot. He's not trying to point out to you that you're being stupid, because that's not Creator, that's not my idea of a loving deity, a loving entity, a loving parent. Creator doesn't do that. But we have to look at these things and find the tools like we did in the video game. We need to pick up the keys so that we can make it to the end. The first scenario, imagine that on any given day, on this day that we're talking about, you are late for a really important meeting. And I'm not talking about a meeting that someone else is telling you it's important. It was important to you, whether it was important to your finances or important to your relationship, important to your family, whatever the case may be. But circumstances happen and you ended up late for a really important meeting. So what I want you to do on your paper, write down number one, Late for a really important meeting. And under it, take a few minutes and think, what is the lesson here? If I'm late for a really important meeting, what might Creator be trying to tell me? Hello again. You are using your brand new skills and building wisdom. That is amazing. Scenario number two. Now this happens a lot in the work world and of course during isolation. If you're watching this when isolation and the pandemic still going on and a second to say kudos to all those amazing frontline workers that make this time possible for the rest of us. Just, just have to do that. I don't know, when you're watching this video, maybe the pandemic's all over and woot woot, we can celebrate that whatever the time is. The second scenario I want you to consider now is that you end up with a horrible tummy ache after lunch. Horrible tummy ache after lunch. What is the lesson here? What could Creator be trying to tell you? Hello again. And we're back. As the Master Detective game continues, we have one more scenario I want you to consider and this one happens a lot in real life. And I don't think enough people stop to ask themselves, what is the lesson here? What is Creator trying to tell me? The third scenario is that situation where you wake up in the morning and you just can't get out of bed. And I'm not talking about you're tired because you stayed up to 4am watching Netflix. I'm talking about discourage. You don't want to go to whatever job you have or you don't want to do whatever's on your agenda for that day. You just, you don't want to get out of bed. You are not looking forward to whatever is coming next. In that moment when you feel that way. Ask yourself, what is the lesson here? What is Creator trying to tell me?
So what did you decide? What is Creator trying to tell you? Don't forget. If you need to watch it again, head over to my YouTube channel until next week. I love you. Take care. Bye bye.
