Did You HEAR ME or Did You Trip on a Typo? (How to Build Bridges)

Sandi L. Boucher sent an email full of typos and realized people focused on the mistakes instead of what she was trying to say. She argues that judging someone's typos burns bridges, while choosing compassion builds them.
Foreign.
Hello again everyone. Sandy Boucher here once again. I'm Red Thunderbolt, woman of the loon clan, A proud member of Seine River First Nation in Treaty 3 Territory in Northern Ontario. And I'm going to end off this week with another short little video based on the blog post that was called would you And I gotta admit, this one was based in vulnerability. This one and authenticity. I guess. So if you're on my email list, if you go to sandybouchet.com and click on get on her list and put in your info, then you get my blog posts and these videos sent to your inbox every single Monday to Friday and last week I'm totally owning this because you know what? Perfectionism is nowhere in my repertoire. I AM A perfect 59 year old, Sandy. I know so much more than I did at 39 and nothing compared to what I'll know at 79 if I'm blessed enough to get there. But I sent out an email last week and it had some typos in it. And, and I think that chalks up to one. I'm not a detail oriented person. To anyone who's ever done any kind of writing. You know, you tend to read what you think you wrote, not what's actually in front of you. It was a heads up that I got to slow it down a bit and be a little more account careful. Maybe invest in one of those programs that'll check out the spell check for me because word left me let me down. But was because the words weren't spelled wrong, they were the wrong words. But anyways, I digress. When I saw that email because I'm. I put myself on my own email list so I can see what it looks like to you. That's just a nice checks and balance that anyone in business should do. Anyone's with an email list in my humble opinion. But when the email came to me and I opened it on my phone and I saw the typos for one, it was like Sandy, seriously you gotta slow down. Lightning doesn't move slow. But anyways I gotta slow down. But then it was the second thought that hit me that I wanted to comment on and why I wrote this blog post. I really, really hoped that the people who read that email got past the typos and read the point that they didn't get lost in their perfectionism or their judgment and they actually heard what I was trying to say. Like the child that is hurting and may mispronounce a word. Yeah, don't correct them. You should be I hope focusing on comforting them or your spouse that is incredibly upset and gets offended, fact wrong, you don't jump in and correct them because that's like the coldest thing you can do. That's not a relationship. That's not caring or supporting. That's judgment. And judgment burns bridges, right? Humility builds them. So this is me, in my humility, totally owning those mistakes. Sorry, we'll try to do better. But what I'm asking of you, treat me as like one of your loved ones, please. And if I make a mistake, kind of ignore it and focus on the point I was trying to make. Because I guarantee you the point was important enough for me to want to share it with you. More important than using the wrong to or there. And that wasn't the mistakes in either case. Does that make sense? Guys, let's go into this weekend and the next week just focused on building bridges. And if that means not being so restrictive and controlling and demanding perfection, if we could just ditch that stuff, I think we'd have a lot better shot at building those bridges we need. I hope that made sense. I'd love to know what your thoughts are. Comment below. I love you. Have an amazing weekend. I'll talk to you next week. Take care. I love you. Bye bye.
You amazing person, you. Sandy Boucher, once again cutting in on my own video to tell you all about my brand new all inclusive membership program. And seriously, if you like any part of my work, whether it's the blog posts and my writing style, my seminars, my speech teaches, my courses, you are going to want to be part of this. I mean, look at everything it includes. It includes my 2023 blog post that I'm reviewing in this video. It includes all of the blog posts from 2022 that you can't get anywhere else. And the best part, look at this. You get to read whichever one you want in whatever order you want based on the day, based on the title, it' totally up to you. You check it off as read and come back as often as you want. Talk about honoring your path and you doing this your way. On top of that, the entire 52 steps to reconciliation video set is available in the membership. Again, the only place you can find it. And again, watch it in whatever order you want to. There's courses, the path, the path away from lateral violence, missing pieces, and even a day that can change everything. That includes so many of the teachings that I live my life by. And if something comes up in your workplace, maybe you need to bop into one of my courses to review one of the lessons again, watch them in the order that you need, and there's PDFs for you to download. This is everything I've got, and it gets updated on a regular basis and it doesn't affect how much you pay. So how much do you pay? Well, $19 a month. That's a lot of content for $19 a month there when you need it at your fingertips. Or pay the annual rate and you save any more, even more. And if you want it for your staff or group, well, I have a price for that too. I am here to support you in any way I can and this membership fits the bill. I can't wait to see you in the all inclusive membership. Now back to the video.
