Sandi L. Boucher explains that when you struggle, the problem usually isn't you. She uses a quote about flowers: "When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower." Your wisdom needs the right conditions to grow, not fixing.

Foreign. Hi, everybody. My name is Sandy Boucher. I'm Red Thunderbolt, woman of the Loon clan, a proud member of Seine river first nation in northern Ontario. And I'm here once again to expand on principle number four, the fourth of 12 principles of personal power that I'm going to be covering for the entire year of 2021. We're in the fourth month, so it makes sense that we're talking about the fourth principle. And just to remind you, here is the principle once again. Everything you need is inside you. But like a seed, your wisdom needs to be nurtured and fed. Feed it and it will grow along with your confidence. Now, that's a pretty powerful principle, and it can really change everything when you realize that you carry wisdom. I can remember a few years ago, I was doing a youth seminar, and the participants were around 10, 12 years old, and I wanted to prove to them that even at that age, they were already carrying wisdom. So I asked them to share with me something that they used to believe was true, that they now knew wasn't, so I could prove to them that they've already grown their wisdom. I'll never forget it. One of the participants put up her hand and I asked her what her answer was, and all she said was, cats can't fly. I have no desire to know how she figured that out, but there you go. She had wisdom. Now, what I'm going to share with you today, and feel free to take a screenshot of this. Take a picture of your TV if you're watching this on Shaw Spotlight, I'm going to share with you my favorite quote. And as a quay, as an Ojibwe woman, I wish every single one of our youth saw this quote, had it with them, carried it with them, reminded themselves of it every single day. Because so often our youth are judged, our women are judged, our men are judged. And this quote makes so much sense. Here it is. I built it up like crazy. I need to share it with you. Here it is. When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower. It's not you. It's not you. If you are struggling in school, maybe the teaching style, maybe the way it was explained, just didn't resonate in your brain. That doesn't mean you can't learn it. It just means the environment has to change. If you're feeling confident, maybe you're not in the middle of an environment that encourages you to. If you're hanging around with a whole bunch of people that judge you, you're not going to feel confident. It's time we start looking at our environment. Is the environment you you are in feeding you or poisoning you? You can adjust your environment. I did a video a little while ago that talked about adding things into that make you laugh? I collect frogs. That's not practical in any way. But when you look at something this adorable, how can you not giggle? I happen to like laughing and giggling. So I build a home environment that supports that so that I can grow. One more time, here's that quote. When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower. You don't need fixing. You might need healing, you might need support. You might need encouragement. And you definitely need an environment in which you can grow. But there's nothing wrong with you. Please share this. If you're watching this on Shaw Spotlight, you can go to my YouTube channel and get the video there. If you're watching it on YouTube, share it with every single friend that needs to know it's not them and that we all deserve an environment in which we can grow. Until next week, my friend. I love you exactly the way you are. Talk to you soon. Bye bye.
