Passing on Personal Power Principle #5 to Those You Love

Sandi L. Boucher teaches Personal Power Principle #5: show people how to treat you by modeling self-kindness and saying why. Rest when you're tired, cook healthy meals, post about it. Tell your kids you do these things because you love yourself and them. People won't treat you better than you treat yourself.

Foreign. Hi, everyone. My name is Sandy Boucher. I'm Red Thunderbolt, woman of the loon clan, a proud member of Seine river first nation in Northern Ontario. And I'm here with once again to expand on personal power. Principle number five. As you can tell by my attire, this is a very laid back vibe today. It's may long, everybody's relaxing. And by the way, in case you're wondering, no, I'm not using some filter that makes me look red. Kind of got myself in the sun yesterday. So this is natural, this is the way it is. And actually, this relaxed, not trying to hide who I am or what I did attitude fits so perfectly in with this month's principle. Before I say another word, let me remind you what that principle is. Teach others how to treat you. If you want them to be kind to you, be kind to you. If you want them to respect you, respect you, show them how. Now, this is the fourth week of the month, so normally in this video I'm talking about how do you pass this teaching on to others, especially those you love. But the reality is this principle has been about teaching other people all month. We've talked about being the example that if you want people to be kind to you, they have to see you being kind to you. Today I want to add another level to that. If you want other people to be kind to you, you have to be kind to you. They have to see you being kind to you. And what I want you to add today is tell them you're being kind to you. So what I mean by that, it could be as easy if you're talking about your friend and social group. It could be as easy as a Facebook post just simply saying, wow, I'm so tired, I'm gonna make it an early night. Tonight. They are seeing that you respect yourself and that you take care of yourself and that you listen to your needs and honor those you are teaching people. That's what you do. So that if they invite you to do something and you say, no, I'm really tired tonight, they already know what that means. That you're going to stay home and honor yourself. See what I mean? If it's your children you're talking to or talking about, thinking about, then again, say it out loud, I'm making myself a really healthy meal because I love myself and I want to take care of myself. And I'm gonna make you a healthy meal because I love you too. Wouldn't we all be in a healthier place if we had all associated eating healthy with loving and taking care of ourselves. I know I would have had a couple less battles to fight. So this week I invite you not only to show people how you treat yourself but say why you're doing it. If there's one thing I know for sure other people will never treat you better than you treat you. So if there's people insulting you in your world maybe it's time to look at the kind of things you say to yourself especially when they can hear you. You have so much more control over your life than you probably realize. I am living proof and I'm one of those people that used to think I didn't have any control or say at all. This week's all about say it. Show them. Make sure they see how you're treating yourself with kindness and respect and then say it so it reinforces the teaching. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Until next week. I love you. Talk to you soon. Bye bye.
