Tuesday Teachings - Teachings Found in a Picnic Basket

A short Tuesday teaching video by Sandi L. Boucher using a picnic-basket prop to explain a life lesson learned from her mother: prepare each day intentionally (pack what you need, invite good people) to create an "amazing day." The speaker frames this in Indigenous spiritual terms (Creator) and uses light, prop-driven seminar style.

Foreign. Hi, everybody. My name is Sandy Boucher. I'm Red Thunderbolt, woman of the Loon clan and a proud member of Seine River First Nation in Northern Ontario. And I'm here today with this week's Tuesday teaching. I am starting to realize, do you see this grin on my face? There's a reason for it. If you have ever had the chance to see me in seminar, you know that I use a lot of props. I have a magic wand that I whip out at different times during the seminar. I had a sock puppet for a while. To be the devil's advocate, I've used a lot of different props, not only to help illustrate a point, but just to break up the seminar and have more fun. And this morning, I'm smiling because I've come to realize that these teaching videos that I release on Tuesday are going to be heavy on the props. I think last week I had silverware. I've had a deck of cards. I've had a piece of wood. I've had a lot of different props in these videos. And this week is no exception. Exception. That's a difficult world. Word. Are we gonna have one of those days? I hope not. It's. It's a Tuesday, right? I should be good. Before I say anything else, I do want to send a huge welcome out there to all the people listening to this in podcast form on Sandy Boucher, the podcast, to my viewers on YouTube. Thank you very much for showing up and of course, all of my viewers on Shaw Spotlight. I am thankful, thrilled to be in your home once a week. Once again now, this week, I just can't wait. Because as I mentioned, the reason I do Tuesday teachings is that my mom taught me. There's a teaching in absolutely everything. My mom was a beautiful nishna be kwe, a proud member of Seine River First Nation, and our family comes from Kuching First Nation. My mom wanted me to remember that I'm not going through this life alone. The Creator is always with me, and he's sending me hints and clues in absolutely everything, and he's doing the absolute same for you. So I wanted to share some of these teachings that I discover with you in hopes that it'll encourage you to find the teachings in your world. So are you ready for this? And by the way, there's a huge shout out to my dear friend Anna Toronto, because I would not be able to do this video without her help, because she loaned me, especially for this video, the prop that I needed. Are you ready? Are you ready? I'm wondering if You've used one of these this year, especially now that groups of 10 are allowed even in this pandemic time. And what I'm talking about, I have right here. Here. Tada. A picnic basket. Did you hear how I said that? It's not a picnic basket, it's a picnic basket. Did we all say it like Yogi Bear? And for younger viewers, if you don't know who Yogi Bear is, ask your parents. If they don't know, ask your grandparents. But the point is, and I'm going to keep it here so we can kind of see it while I'm talking. Imagine we're going on a picnic. What would you put in this beautiful picnic basket? I'm willing to bet the most amazing food. Maybe it's fresh fruit, maybe it's sandwiches. And this is one of those really cool picnic baskets that has all the utensils and plates and glasses, everything you're going to need to have an amazing family outing. You have something like this, you pack it with all the stuff that you know is going to make for a great event and off you go. And chances are really good. If you also add in some pretty amazing people, chances are pretty good. You're gonna have an amazing picnic. You prepare for it, then you enjoy it. Now, my mom would be the first to tell me that's exactly how we should approach every single day. You wake up, you prepare to have an amazing day, you make sure that you gather up everything you need, you invite some amazing people, and chances are you're going to have an amazing day. Unfortunately, there's a whole bunch of people out there that may know how to pack a great picnic basket, but they haven't yet figured out to do that for their day. They kind of show up, just show up, and they don't bring anything, maybe not even a good attitude. And then at the end of the day, what really blows me away is these people actually blame creator, God or higher power because they had a lousy day. My mother would slap me upside the head if I ever tried something like that. The reality is you decide your amazing day is going to be based on how well you prepared for it. I have the most amazing life because I designed it that way. I've had my troubled times in the past where I was making decisions that didn't serve me. Now I make great decisions and creators smiling right along with my mom. So there you have it. Tuesday teaching. Pack an amazing picnic basket. Pack for an amazing day. Why? Because you deserve one, my friend. Until next week, I hope that resonated with you. Talk to you soon. I love you. Bye. Bye.
