Why I Created "The Bridge Onboarding Program"

Sandi L Boucher created The Bridge, a 90-minute onboarding program for non-Indigenous Canadians to learn how to respectfully engage with Indigenous communities. It includes videos and a workbook, with email guidance for the first group to build internal capacity and gather feedback.

Hello, you absolutely amazing person you. And thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video. My name is Sandy Boucher and I just had to shoot this short message to let you know why I am so proud of my new onboarding program. You see, for years I've worked with non indigenous people, good hearted people, heart in the right place, want to support and get to know the indigenous people that that live within Canadian borders. But time and time again, these people were terrified of saying the wrong thing, or worse, embarrassed because they did. They were never given the nuances. They were never given the information what to watch for and how to respond. And I knew I had to help based on my years of experience being an indigenous woman. So I created my new onboarding program and I gave myself a challenge. It had to be 90 minutes or less. And I met that challenge. Then, based on information and feedback from my amazing customer base, the original video course was made even better. Now, when you sign up, when you purchase the program, the first group of people, the emails you provide me, whether it's your entire team or just your management team, they go through the program. Not only do you get the video files and the actual workbook PDF so you can use it for the rest of your days, but that original group, I walk them through the program via email. They get one email every day that includes a video and a related question and they send their answers to me so, so I can encourage them, support them, add in more context, or give them the nuance they might be missing. The result that once that first key group is done, your organization now has the actual program in the files and the workbook and a team of people trained so that they can support new employees that come on and and take the course for the first time. That's building skills as well as capacity. And that's why I'm thrilled to offer the Bridge onboarding program. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
