Chapters
You realize that you're just a number on somebody's spreadsheet. You spend 19 years in a company, you don't quite think about it that way. Some big decision above that you don't really— cannot influence in any way. Then you try to make a transition into something else. You say, I'm not going to be dependent on anybody else. And I said to myself, I am never going to work for anyone else in my life. And I thought that I had enough knowledge, contacts, some reputation in the marketplace that I thought it would be possible to set up a private business. And as usual, you start from some small room in your house, as I did from my basement. And I have to say, the first 2 years I wasn't sure that the business would work, and it went beyond my expectations because now we're working with more than 550 big multinationals.
