This is a YouTube video titled '3 Steps: Accept Expect Project (FREE GRACE SPACE)' (published 2025-02-12) featuring Sharnita Gates delivering a Grace Space teaching/sermon. The speaker addresses the Grace Space community in a solo devotional talk centered on Luke 4:18, unpacking Jesus' mission — preaching good news to the poor, proclaiming release to captives, recovery of sight to the blind, setting the oppressed free, and proclaiming the year of the Lord's favor. She connects this passage to themes of the full armor of God, the sword of the Spirit (Scripture), faith, fruits of the Spirit, spiritual discipline, enduring rejection while doing God’s assignment, and practical exhortation to be doers of the word and abide in Christ.

Blessings, Grace Space family! I'm excited to be here on today with you guys in this Grace Space where God's grace is sufficient for us to grow and develop and build a heart as we multiply the word and multiply the word of God into our hearts. And so, as you know, here in the Grace Space, we get our Bibles We get our colors and we get our canvases. We are ready to dive into the word. And so today we have been in Luke. We have been studying Luke 4:18. And today I really want to continue on just expounding on Luke 4:18. And I really want to give you guys, uh, the entire canvas on today. I was going to go into it on tomorrow a little bit more. But today I want to kind of wrap it up because literally this is the time to really seek the Lord so he can rain righteousness upon us. And I'm actually sitting here looking at a canvas that came to my, you know, came to my heart, and it was really what it really means to have a breastplate of righteousness. Like Putting on the full armor of God and really going into the battle. And literally, it was the connection between knowledge of the word and what God said. And we've been talking about how Jesus came to connect us to God, which is the sword of the Spirit. And so the word of God. Is the shield of faith, which is the, the, the word about Christ. But every scripture is useful. Every scripture, not just the gospels, but every scripture is God-breathed. And so literally inhaling the script to be able to command your, your soul That's where Jesus lies. Like, we're literally having and fixing your eyes on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of your faith. He endured the cross, he despised the shame. And so we too have the— and, and are equipped with the things to fight that same battle of denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily, and following Christ and connecting and being obedient to what the Father has said. So let's dive into and reflect over the, the word, which is Luke 4:18. Just a quick reflection over the past 2 days. We went over Luke 4:18 where it says, he has sent me to pro— um, To heal the brokenhearted, that was what we went into on the first day. The second day, we went into he has he has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives, and so literally now we're well the spirit of the Lord is upon me to proclaim liberty to the captives. So I wanted to make sure I clarify that. But we're gonna go in. We have our Bible on today, so we're gonna actually. Really read and break down Luke 4:18. I wrote it already on the canvas of my heart. I want you guys to do the same, and as we go through it, so I really want to highlight, um, Luke 4:18 and where Jesus is currently at. So Jesus just taught his disciples and, you know, crowds about the parable of the sower, the lampstand, this mustard seed. And they just went through a huge storm. And literally one of the questions that Jesus had asked was, you know, do you still not have faith? And we know faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word about Christ. So the more and more you're hearing the word, that's how you build your faith. That's why he is the shield of faith. And so it protects you. It's literally what keeps your mind in perfect peace because he's the Prince of Peace. So when he came to Nazareth, so now Jesus is now in Nazareth. And that's his hometown. He had been brought up by, as usual. So they're like, you know, Jesus is his home. He's in the synagogue. Um, we, if you've heard the story of when, um, Jesus was in the synagogue and his mom found him, and he's like, did you not know that I'll be about my Father's business? So he was always in the synagogue. And as usual, when he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, he stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. So now he was given a scroll, a prophecy about what was already written. And so Jesus is now in front of his entire You know, the people who known him, you know where he grew up at, who who's used to seeing him in the synagogue and reading. But this is where the things that they did not see is the the things that he did in the other towns. So as Jesus was unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written. So like I said, it was, it was already written. He said, the Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind. To set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. So literally now he's reading what is written. And mind you, the the people in the synagogue they probably heard the reading over and over. You know, it was set in their mind as this is the way we we receive it. But literally That's why when the word said don't just mere— that's why every scripture is useful. So don't just merely think that you are a listener and so deceive yourself. Do what the word is saying. And so, hey doers, here in the gray space, you guys are the doers. And that's literally where I'll break down the how being a doer and utilizing the, um, the full armor of God and when you step into the gray space. That's a whole nother topic. We'll get into that. But literally today, you guys, I'm bringing the full scripture of Luke 4:18. So when Jesus rolled up the scroll, he gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. That literally— Hebrews 12— fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and the finisher of your faith. So now listen, listen, this is where you start to see the word. And if you think about the, the individuals who were in Nazareth, Jesus' hometown, they, they seen him before. They knew he was, you know, about his Father's business. They had read, you know, heard the scrolls, the scriptures being read. But this one, this is what Jesus' response was to them. Today, as you listen, this scripture has been fulfilled. As you listen, This scripture has been fulfilled. Jesus fulfilled that scripture as it was written. Jesus fulfilled as it was spoken. He spoke it and said, today as you listen, this scripture has been fulfilled, and confirming that he— the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me. To preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. So the year of the Lord's favor. Was the time that Jesus fulfilled the scriptures, what the prophets had written. And so this is where Jesus is saying, "It is written." What is written? God has already given what we what we need, and we have to fulfill it. And Jesus, like I am here to fulfill the law. I am here to be who I am, the way, the truth, and the life that God so loved the world that he gave you guys. He's like, receive me. And so that's Luke 4:18 and a little bit of the backstory as far as how we're diving into it. Like, as far as really Jesus is for us. To receive so that we can be set free if we are captive, if we are poor in spirit, because the Spirit of the Lord is upon him. So as we receive Jesus and we're poor in our spirit— so if you think about the Spirit of, of God, the Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit, which is joy, love, peace, faithfulness, gentleness, Kindness, self-control— all those are the fruits of the Spirit. So you are poor in one of those areas, then therefore Jesus is like, I'm here. I came to fulfill it so that you know the way to, to, to be, to receive, to, to grow in the Spirit of God, for his Spirit to rest upon you. Because I am the Holy Spirit, and when I come upon you now, therefore I— you are empowered to live that way, in the way of your spirit being thoroughly enriched with the scriptures to empower you to have the spirit and walk in the spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, all the fruits, so that you can bear much fruit. But you have to abide in him. When you abide in Jesus Who is the way? Who is the truth? Now you're receiving the truth and understanding that just what he went through, how he was able to stand in the synagogue in front of everyone who he who knew him and knew he was about his father's business, but did not understand what the the business was. Although that it was written, he proclaimed and and said that this is. What was written. And I'm standing here in front of you on today to say that the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. That's why he's like, I didn't come for the righteous but sinners to repentance. Because literally, he knew who he was for. He was for the poor. He was for the, uh, the captives. He was for the blind. He was for the oppressed. And knowing who you are for and who you are, you can stand as Jesus did and proclaim What you are sent to do and proclaim that this is the year of the Lord's favor. So the the Lord's favor is Him being able to to to give you unearned the things that mercy to have mercy on you to give for you know forgiveness and have compassion on you, and that's what He was there to proclaim that. This is the time for you to seek the Lord so that he can rain righteousness upon you. And so they were all speaking well of him and were amazed by the gracious words that came from his mouth. Yet they said, isn't this Joseph's son? Then he said to them, no doubt you will quote this proverb to me. Doctor, heal yourself! What we've heard that took place in Capernaum, do here in your hometown also. He also said, truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown. But I say to you, there were certainly many widows in Israel in Elijah's days, When the sky was shut up for 3 years and 6 months while a great famine came over all the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them except a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. And in the prophet Elijah's time, there were many in Israel who had leprosy, and yet not one of them was cleansed except for Naaman The Syrian. Now when they heard this, everyone in the synagogue was enraged. They got up, drove him out of town, and brought him to the edge of the hill that their town was built on, intending to hurl him over the cliff. But he passed right through the crowd. and went on his way. This is a— when you are doing your assignment, what God has, and you have clarity on who God has called you to and what he has called you to do, this is the, this is the truth that you will be rejected because some, there, there, some people are not able to receive it because their heart wasn't made to receive the assignment that God has given to you. So the assignment that God has given to you is for you, and it's for you to— when the crowd, just like Jesus, who shows who is the way, who's showing us the way— when they want to throw you over, toss you overboard, pass right through the crowd. There's so many different stories where Jesus faced crowds He also faced things with his disciples. He faced things with unclean spirits. There were so many different things, you know, individuals or types of individuals that had their assignments, their own assignments, um, and their own ways. But Jesus said, I am the way, because he knew that he was the way to fulfill the law of the, the prophets, that the prophets had prophesied to what was already written to fulfill it on earth. And so literally, so when you go through those things that you feel like, okay, I'm being rejected— rejecting, being rejected over here does not mean that God is not accepting you over here. So you want to make sure that you are fixing your eyes on Jesus, who is the author and the finisher of your faith, because he's connecting you to God. So So God can show you that if this is the year of the Lord's favor, of his mercy, his forgiveness, his compassion, for you to receive that and walk into your calling and what he has purposed for your life, for your life. And no matter where you came from, just because where you came from doesn't mean that the outcome is going to be the same. Notice that they said, is this Joseph's son? And he's like, I'm the Son of Man, so therefore you guys see me as Joseph's son, but God sees me as his son. And literally, that was allowed— that allowed him to pass right through the crowd and went on his way, continuing to do what he said he fulfilled. And that was to continue with the Spirit of the Lord upon him. He was anointed. He was anointed to preach the good news to the poor. He was sent to proclaim release to the captives. He, he, and also to give a recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. So on his way, he continued to do that. And as we go into Luke 4:31, which— if he started to continue to drive out an unclean spirit. So literally, that is the way to continue to do what God has called and purposed for your life. Gain clarity. Ask God What is written for me to be able to go forth and do? If it's going and making disciples, baptizing and leading them in the way, you know, baptizing them with the Father, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I know for me here in this great space, I'm thankful for you guys. I'm devoted to building, implementing, and also as I worship, allow lost believers to become in the— and go in the way of discipline in the Holy Spirit. So building and implementing the discipline of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is our Holy Spirit. He's the Holy Spirit. So therefore there's discipline, just like I said, just the way that he did it. He is the way. And as we live in the way, as we continue to love in the way, that is one of the things that we have to build upon. We have to live and do everything in love. And we have to have a clear understanding of what love is. So not keeping records of wrongs, literally putting that into practice, that is a discipline. And we are going into discipline. There's roughly about over 40 scriptures that talks about discipline, and we're going to dive into that, um, within our stream platform. But right here in the, the gray space Let's continue to devote ourselves based off of the reflection of the way that Jesus did it when he was rejected in his hometown, how he continued to pass through the crowd and continue on his way. And as we devote ourselves to the work that God has called us to do, our strategy and approach is continuing to put on the full armor of God, knowing that God is our, our sword of the Spirit. Every scripture is useful for teaching us, correcting us, rebuking us, and training us in righteousness. And so literally receive rebuke. If you have been rebuked and it made you feel some type of way, let the Father do the rebuking. Let the word work on you and correct you because it makes you thoroughly equipped for the good work And this is the good work of sharing the good news. And literally, I thank you guys for joining the Gray Space. Remember to be fruitful and multiply. Thank you, doers, for joining us on today. Be blessed.
