Day 9 // The Rewards of Wisdom #wiseupchallenge24

In this devotional episode of the 31‑Day Proverbs series, the speaker reflects on Proverbs 9, contrasting Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly as two metaphorical houses. She emphasizes that true wisdom comes from trusting the Lord, internalizing His word, and moving from passive listening to active obedience. The talk guides listeners to identify “empty places” in their lives, discern wise versus cynical companions, and make relational decisions that align with God’s purpose. She repeatedly ties the message to her personal mission—building, implementing, and discipling lost believers through the Holy Spirit—while offering practical steps such as proactive listening, careful speech, and purposeful outreach. The overall aim is to help believers walk the straight, narrow path, invite others to the feast of wisdom, and experience the rewards of a life grounded in divine understanding.
Chapters
Blessings everyone and welcome to our 31 Days of Proverbs where we are diving into a chapter of Proverbs each day. And today we are on day 8, and the past couple of days it has been very, well, very reflective. So we started off with the question, what are you getting? As we go through Proverbs 31, we are crafting a playbook that we can use in life. And as we take the word with us everywhere we go, in our minds, as we continue to hide the commands in our heart and trusting in the Lord with all of that— with our heart, our mind, our soul— it allows us to make wise decisions. And so with each play each day, we are learning some more, you know, more wisdom with instructions, teachings, and gaining understanding as we go. So the last 2 days have been very reflective. We started with the fear of the Lord, which is hating evil. Um, that's, that's my takeaway, is when you hate evil That's the beginning of wisdom, the fear of the Lord. And then we ended the week off with— actually, we went through the value of working higher and then the importance of wisdom. And so now yesterday we started off with the call of wisdom. Are we picking up what is being given to us when it comes to Proverbs? Proverbs is getting— giving us Wisdom, but are we picking it up? Are we truly listening? Are we receiving? Are we perceiving? And I, I love the process, how it was defined when it comes to information. So first we get the information. We got the information. We have the entire book of Proverbs. We have the entire Bible, which is full of information from our Father. And then we get to put it into practice, um, and we get to model and become more like Jesus as we put the teachings and the instructions into practice. And that's like practical application of the word, actually not merely thinking that we are listeners but— and deceiving ourselves— but actually being doers of the word. And so that's exactly what we're leaning in today is The interpretation. So as we go through these reflections, we want to interpret what our Father is providing for us in his teaching, in his word, as it comes out of his mouth. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. So let's— we're growing in the knowledge of God and, and seeing how God sees it. And so today we are going into Proverbs 9. Which for me, after coming off of the past 8 days, we talked about earthly wisdom, we talked about heavenly wisdom, we talked about a disciplined life, we talked about undisciplined life, we talked about, uh, the shelter of the Most High God where our dwelling places, um, and we talked about the shadow of the way of the wicked. the darkness. And so with today, it really talks about— in Proverbs 6, I mean 9, it talks about Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly. So you have one, one individual. We are, you know, one individual, whether it's male or female, um, because it's about the wisdom is the principal thing. It's, it's not a Um, uh, it's not a male or female thing. It, uh, but so the principal thing is to get wisdom. So you have Lady Wisdom and you have, um, Lady Folly. And so those 2 are what we're going to be reflecting on. And I love how we're learning more about the ways, the thoughts. When God said, my thoughts are not your thoughts, your ways are not, you know, My ways, and his is higher. So we know down the value of working higher, and what it means to work higher, and the lessons that we are are learning and growing in as we grow in wisdom, as we mature in in Christ, become more like Christ as he abides in us, and we abide in him. And so today. As I go through, it's going to be very reflective because as we go through different situations, whether it's professional, whether it's relational, whether it's resourceful, or whatever our minds or our, our, our bodies could be full of, we really have to reflect on and locate ourselves. Because like you said, when you trust in the Lord with all your heart and submit To you know him, he will make straight your path. So are we walking on the path of righteousness into righteousness? You know that straight and narrow path, which leads to long life. It leads to you know health and wealth when it comes to our body. Our body is full of life, and I say full of the word, full of the wisdom, the instructions, and the teachings of our Father. And we know. So that's where we're going to start off as far as reflecting what you know and what others know. And that's just— now you don't have to necessarily know what they know because really the, the skill is to trust in the Lord with all your heart. You can trust the Lord. So basically, do they— you know, do you know— what do you know about what God said? And so it helps you to know where you need to apply wisdom at in certain situations. So one of the areas for me when it comes to where I need more wisdom is because it's more like relationships, and this is based off of relationships and resourceful. But so when it talks about in Proverbs 9, it's basically where we call out to— what we like. For me, it's where do I call out to my Father and say, um, I'm Casting all my cares. These are my petitions. Letting these requests be made known to you because based off, you know, especially if you're building something, if you're building something, you want it to be built on a firm foundation. So this really helps you to know where you need to call out to and be honest. Like I said, you have to be honest in in all that you do because he he's holy. He's he's he is the truth. There's no lie. You know, so we kind of talked about it in the previous, um, Proverbs, the chapters of Proverbs, and now we're going deeper. So we're still taking the things that we learned along the journey as we go through each day. So when you're calling out and you want, um, you're calling out to a holy God, now you have to know a holy God, or else that's what we're talking about when it— you're operating in ignorance. Um, and you have no instructions. So it's like with Lady Wisdom, it's 2 houses. One is built, you know, built off of the word of God, a holy God. It has— it's supported with the word. It's being— it's built. There's, there's meat, there's food, there's, there's wine, um, joy. And it's prepared, it's ready, it's ready for whoever, you know, will want to partake in that, what has already been prepared, like in the teachings, in the instructions, in the way of God. And so, but the other house is really, you know, empty. It has really no— no, it's not built, you know. You're actually not dwelling in the secret place of the Most High God, but you're dwelling In the secret place of the wicked, and we're talking— we're, you know, talking in darkness. And so really just being honest, like, what are you listening to? And for me, my purpose is to build, implement, and worship lost believers into the discipline of the Holy Spirit. And the discipline is to listen to the teachings, you know, get the instructions, gain understanding, and hold on to it. But I don't know, and not just hold on to it, but there's a table that's being— that's prepared inside of that house. And when you, when you invite people in, now this is where we— why I said what, what we know, because one of the things is what do you know about, you know, someone else? Are they— we have 2 different people. You have arrogant cynics, and you have the ones that care about life. So really what you know. And so that's why I said more in Lady Folly, it's like, um, building, you know, the relationships, really got to get to know others. So this is like if you are poor in the area of, you know, really knowing, you know, where a person lie, um, as far as if they're You know, if they care about life, if they really are not looking forward to living a disciplined life. These— if there's 2 questions that Proverbs 9 really outlined, now this is basically locating us in which approach we're going to take. So this helps us make a better decision when it comes to relationships or resources or whatever you're trying to fill yourself up with, like especially if you're trying to fill yourself up with the word. Then you're gonna, you're, you're gonna, the, the decision that you learn to make is to walk. You're gonna walk, you're gonna serve because you're not gonna just serve the house. You're gonna, you know, walk out with, with the teachings, the instructions. And when you're walking, you're going through the town and you're telling. Now it's all about what you, you say, life and death. Is in the power of the tongue. And this hits on both, um, what's in the tongue. When you go out to the town and you, you're really going out, but you're saving your breath. You, you have the— you, you're saved, but you also have the, the principle thing of, you know, you know, still using wisdom. But you want to save your breath when you do go out because the questions that you're going to ask are, are you confused about life? You don't know what's going on. So that's, that's a good way to— for you, as you located yourself and you're walking and you're actually saying, okay, based off of, you know, the wisdom that the teachings— who I'm going to actually, you know, engage with and, and even speak life into. And before you even say, you know, invite that person to come and eat in your house, you know, Now the question, do you know what's going on? If they say no, but they also want to care about life, like, do you know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that he came to give you life and life more abundantly? And he said, you know, come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I'll give you rest. And so That's when they say yes, then they really care about life. He is the life, he is the truth anyway. So really, in that point, you can actually make a decision to invite them to leave their impoverished life of confusion and live. And that's what your heart is, because— I mean, your house is— because you've already prepared the meal, you already prepared the meat, the bread, and you want to tell everybody about the goodness of Christ. And then if they, you know, if they care about you and, and they love you, they, you know, it's going to be patient, kind, not keep records of wrongs, and not envious, not proud. Then that's their way up. That's how you lead people up into a life with meaning. And so they become wiser. So that's where it's like, walk with the wise, and you can help someone wise up. And that's what we're in this Wise Up Challenge, this Provisional Actions Challenge, because this is really aligning our actions with our purpose. Like I told you guys, my purpose is to build, implement, and worship lost believers into the discipline of the Holy Spirit. And so that's with— I'm walking, that's, that's where my intent, you know, my— the instructions, what's on my mind, um, what I know I know, you know, I know how he can change your life. And that allows them to actually walk into a deeper life and come and get long life because they will accept it. But on the road, there's going to be arrogant cynics, there's going to be scoffers, there's going to be people who really don't want to live a different, uh, disciplined life. And so if you try to reason with them and, you know, try to tell them, you know, about the goodness of God and, you know, trying to give them a deeper life and trying to help them to become wiser. You're going to— this is where it comes in as far as locating you. If, if you're getting a slap in the face, if you are getting kicked in the shins, um, or you had gone through painful abuse, you're probably dealing with a, a, a cynic or a scoffer who really are— is not at the, the place where they're— they care about life. And, or, you know, and that's where you really put it in God's hands, um, because it's— you won't be able to walk with them, you know. Like I said, you'll be kicked in the shin, slapped in the face. You can't walk if you, you know, you, you're damaged. Um, so therefore, that's where you actually realize where, okay, maybe, you know, um, where I need to wise up. Identify some areas where you may need to wise up in. And, and really, when you write your petitions out, this is where we can take some, you know, teachings and learnings from Lady Folly, um, and because it's empty. So wherever, you know, identifying spaces in your, in your, in your life where you're empty Because then now you can seek wisdom, seek the kingdom, and, you know, where we identify first and main. And then that's where you was like, okay, it's important for me in this area, you know, at this time to really get wisdom and gain understanding in this area. So this helps us to locate us. And so when you identify that area, you have to really realize that it's a place that's empty. So you're just sitting there waiting. You don't want to wait. That's why it's like, don't waste time. You want to go ahead and identify it and start walking into that path, because or else— this is where we're learning from Lady Folly. She just sits on the porch and she, she's calling out, come with me, we're gonna have a good time. Not a good, you know, getting a good life, learning from the good teacher, learning from a good God. And so, um, You'll find yourself calling out in that area, but you don't even know you're calling out for wisdom. You see, so we have to— and when we identify that area based off of the wisdom that we've learned in certain other areas in the past, other chapters, we can also apply this to our lives in areas where it's empty. And you don't want to just be sitting there waiting for People to pass by, and then you call out with the wrong, you know, um, call out death, because death and the tongue calls out and it leads people to hell. So that's where I would say is be slow to speak, quick to listen, and slow to be angered. And so this is where we can really take in some of, you know, more the, the breath of God and his teachings. And doing the correct application when we go out, because now we are being proactive. We are not reactive. And so when we do this, we, you know, we won't interrupt people who's minding their own business, even if it's unwise. So we want to continue to be wise and mind our own business, but also listen. And so that when you do pass someone Who is— who do care about life, then you can share. And that's where it's the, uh, walk with the wise and become wise. But a companion of fools suffers much harm. And when we identify the unwise, that's why it's like you, you know, you get kicked in the shin, you know, um, a slap in the face. You get that and you get abused because you're walking not with someone who cares about life. And if you care about life, you know the path that you're on. And so you ask those important questions and so that you can make the best decision. So this allows us to make decisions when it comes to our relationships. So that's why, like, when we seek wisdom, we get the answer. He is the answer. He's going to provide. Ask and it shall be given to you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be open. So if you're poor even in relationships or wherever you may be poor at when it comes to wisdom, um, this is how you actually can approach it— by asking a question of locating where you are confused, where others are confused, because then you'll be able to make the best decision and identify, okay, that person would not— if they're not wise in that area Then they're not going to be able to help you. You're not going to be able to walk with them. So, you know, because depending on what they care about. So that is Proverbs 9. And so pull up to the table. I would say pull up to the table. Um, it's the, the meal is prepared. The, um, you have wine in the house. And that's built on A solid foundation of wisdom. And I will say, come see, and what you'll get is the wise up. So thank you guys for joining the Wise Up Challenge 24, the provisional actions. So we got some great actions on today. And remember, today is the, um, today we are talking about the rewards of wisdom. So
