Building A Set

Sharnita Gates teaches how to build your life on a firm spiritual foundation using Matthew 7:24-25, Romans 12:11, and Luke 14:33. She uses construction as a metaphor for spiritual formation and assigns reflective homework: can you weather the storm?

And I am excited to go into this new I Teach series where we are teaching users, consumers, businesses, and technology a new creative way of growing. And we're incorporating today our Fertile Hearts Grace Space where we are doing our reflection, our devotion, and our daily strategy and approach so that we can be thoroughly equipped for the good work that God has called us to do. Yes, and I'm so excited to be here. To do. So today, for— we are— for our, our theme today is building a set. So we're going to be building a set today, and we're going to dive deep, deep, deep into the word today, um, within our reflection, our devotion, and our daily strategy and approach. Today is going to be a little bit different from how we do in our Grace Space. Where we listen to hear, but not only hear but also do. But today we're going to approach it in a different style because this is for our I Teach. So each and every one has the ability to work this into their lives however they best see fit as far as God's instructions and his will for your life. So today As we go through the reflection. For the reflection on today, as we continue to build a set, we have to know how. So we're going to reflect on the word from Matthew 7:24-25, and this is going to come from the English Standard Version. So I want to break it down as how We are going to approach the text. So there's going— if you hear the words construct or ion, we're going to give you the definition. So construction, we broke it down. So what does construction mean? It means that together and thoroughly jointed, it takes a group of several related variables in one place, and based off of that place, it— you have an atom or a molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. So when we're, we're thinking about the construction, it's everything coming together thoroughly and joins together, but then it's this— the structure part of it is a group. So a group coming together with several related variables in one place. So we haven't yet defined what that place is. We're going to get to that. And what is coming together within that group, and it's an atom or a variable, a molecule with a net electric charge. So when we think about a net, what it is all is going to be able to catch. So when you're talking about construction, what are you going to be able to catch within that group that's coming together? Um, and the electric charge— remind you, electricity can be, uh, you know, positive or negative. So due to the loss or gain, so negative or positively charged of one or more electrons. So the electrons Or is the ion, basically. Um, so when they're— the ion is— I mean, the electrons are what is coming together to group and become one in one place. So the place is our home. So when we're talking about building a set and where we're talking about in a home, so that place that we are defining is where one lives permanently as a member of a family or household. So now you, when you think about the construction of a home, you're thinking more on things that's coming together, um, thoroughly in there. They're joining together and it's becoming a group of, you know, several related variables. So a variable can be You know, um, this or that, like a good, bad. It could be, uh, uh, an item. It could be a lot of different things. So it's coming together and grouping together in one place. So when we're thinking about a home, we're— all this is coming into one place together. And as we, we break it down, what is actually coming together in this one place? It's an atom or a molecule that has a positive or negative, you know, charge. That we are basically— because one, one may gain one thing and one may experience a loss in another, and it's all coming into one place. So when we're talking about building a set, we're reflecting on building a home and doing the construction. So what— taking those pieces and putting it together. So in Matthew 7, 24 and 25. Every— everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall because it had been founded on the rock. So, and that's what— so we want to reflect on being a wise builder. So I'm going to replace some of the words within with the definition. And so, a group of several related variables in one place. Then, who hears these words of an atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons? And does them together thoroughly and jointly will be like a wise man, which will be like that atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons, who built his place where one lives permanently as a member of a family or household on that atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. And the, the ones like another atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to a loss or gain of one or more electrons fell. And the another atom or a molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss of a gain or one electrons came. And another atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons Blue and beat on that place where one lives permanently as a member or a family or a household, but it did not fall because it has been a foundation. The location has been on a foundation. It has been found at the place where one lives permanently as a member of a family or household with an atom, with that atom or molecule with a net electric charge. due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. And it was founded on that atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. So it's all about the atom or molecule that it was founded and built on. So when we're reflecting on building a set, what is it being— what we have to identify that Group, the group first, the group of several related variables in one place. And then it goes all the way down to that group being formed based off of what was the— what was heard and from the original atom or molecule that had an electric charge. And based on that, that electric charge was based off of a loss or gain. It creates electrons. So that's what we're talking about as far as building a set. There's a— there's so much power. And so we're going to get into the power of building your foundation on a rock, and that's basically on the location. And so we are still talking about reflecting on becoming a wise builder. So we're going to have to dive into it. So the homework is going to be Can you weather the storm? So if you will have to, if you haven't got the outline for the homework, let's kind of dive into it. Like as far as weathering the storm, whether you we're going to have where it's going to do some unpacking, unpacking the storms and what has been packaged and versus what has been branded and what we're branding ourselves is on. The life, the way, Jesus, the truth, the rock. We're building— are you building it on the right foundation? And the right foundation is Jesus and the Word of God. So faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God and the word about Christ. So we're building the foundation on the word. So that's what we're reflecting on as you continue to build daily. Are you building it on the right foundation, on the Word of God? And it's a daily thing, you know. That's why we're going to dive into the devotion of today is going to be who, what, and how. As we devote ourselves and follow, you know, following the right path, how do you follow the right path without knowing about who, What and how to do it. So the devotion today is I will give and serve with gratitude, and that's from Romans 12:11 in the New International Version. And so we're going to break it down. So who I will and you I is what you give. The who is the give. He is the giver of life. So what are you giving back to? The the previous reflection was how can we give honor back to God, like in our obedience? So the who is the giver. God is the giver of life. So if we're talking about going, you know, as we reflect on what we're building, where we're building a set our foundation on the life. So we will give back to the giver. That's who. The giver is God. So the who is God. So when we think about the, the, the word Romans 12:11, I will give. So I will, God. God, I, I, me. God, you are the giver of life to me. So I will give back to God and never be lacking. So the Romans 12:11, never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor serving the Lord. So God, I will never be lacking in zeal. And what to do that and show honor, we're going to give who we're giving it to. God, and we're never going to be lacking in zeal. And what we're also going to be doing is the who— us— is going to shift our focus off ourselves and shift our focus onto others. And the gift is going to be a form. It's going to be what are we forming? What, what building a set? What are we forming? And so We are giving and devoting ourselves back to God to say, I would never be lacking, to give, to shift my focus off of myself, to shift my focus onto others, and doing that with gratitude. And how we do that with gratitude is basically about the quality, the quality, not quantity. You continue to do it, do it, give, give, give, and the numbers may be there, but it's the quality There, um, to give God. God wants the best. Not, you know, you know, don't want all of it. He wants the best. God wants the best of you. And so the who is still reflecting back on you, who is based off of God giving you life. He's the giver, so he's the who. Great, you know. So as we continue to implant the life in us will never be lacking in zeal. So we're shifting the focus. This is the devotion, is to shifting, shifting, shifting the focus off of ourselves and onto others. And how we're going to do that is serve. And when we're serving, we have to know that we are serving the Lord. Who are we serving? The Lord, the truth, the life, and the way. So we're building that foundation. We know that we are when we do it. We do it with quality, and we're doing it never to be lacking. And as we reflect, we're understanding that what we're building is this foundation on the word of God, which is about Christ. So he is our firm foundation. So we are serving the Lord, and as we serve the Lord, we are serving others. And that's when we were talking about that form. The form that we're doing it in is a worship, is a form of worship in our expression. So how we express how we serve the Lord is through our worship. So it's an expression of gratitude through our worship and as we continue to serve the Lord. So just saying thank God, thank, thank you Lord, thank you Lord for— it just depends on what, like even for this moment, just Coming into the, you know, awareness of serving the Lord and getting back to, you know, I— the teaching, the teaching part and doing the quality. As I increase in quality, um, as I continue to serve the Lord, that is what my work, my, my honor is to be able to serve not just myself but serve the Lord and serve others. And it's always an expression of worship and just being thankful for and to the Lord for all the things that he's brought me through. Um, well, not even just what he brought me through, but everything, everything, everything. And then doing that with gratitude, that is how you do it, with spiritual fervor, off self, not about self. Um, to show appreciation, to return kindness. That is how you, you do it. But we have to, we have to learn how to do it. Um, that's why we're doing the reflection. Let's reflect on our current state, then we can devote ourselves to the— to serve the Lord and knowing how to do it. And so that's when we go into the strategy and approach. The strategy and the approach is wisdom. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. So as we've been going through the, the text, through the Bible, we have been going through wisdom. And this year, I'm being— the Thanksgiving theme is wisdom, being thankful for God giving, you know, knowledge and understanding. And giving us wisdom. Thank, thank God, because I know there's been a time when I wasn't making wise decisions. And now as we go through to learn how to actually make wise decisions, we're going to do that in understanding what wisdom is. Wisdom is being wise based off of the document, which is the Bible. And the object is the cross. When you think about the cross, the cross is the object and the model is Jesus. So wisdom is basically the Bible, the cross, and Jesus, and that is the Spirit of God. So Luke 14, just in, you know, in your time, read Luke 14. We're going to highlight on verse 33. Those of you who do not give up everything, you cannot be my disciples. So to walk in wisdom, it's the Bible, the cross, and Jesus. So we have to deny ourselves. That's what we were talking about as far as in our devotion. As we serve the Lord, we take— we shift the focus off ourselves and shift the focus on others. And we, so as we shift the focus on others, we're breaking down Luke 14, verse 33. Those of you who do not give up everything you can, you have, cannot be my disciples. So I want to really highlight, give up everything. What are we giving up? And first we have to know that it's worth it. Is it worth it? And this is what the I Teach is about more of today is Focusing on discipleship, others, shifting the focus onto others. And that's when we said the spirit, the spirit you all need. So it's like the spiritual need that we all need. We all need the spiritual need of discipleship. And that's where you give up everything to, you know, the first step is to see it, hear it, and believe it. So those are the steps we're going to see it, hear it, and believe it. So what we're going to hear is giving up everything. It says in the text, hate your mother. If one does not hate your mother and father, hate your wife and your children, hate your brothers and your sisters, and hate their own life. Now we think it was just The, the family members. No, it's us as well. That's why we say we're shifting the focus off ourselves and onto others. And what it causes is you to be able to sit down and estimate what you're gaining. And that's the wisdom in being able to follow Jesus and the model of how we can go the, you know, choose the right way and build on the right foundation. This is all about how, what, and who. And it's about you choosing Jesus over everything. That is the cost. And so the one of the things is reading 1 Peter and 2 Peter, that is to come. We're not gonna do that today, but just reading 1 Peter and 2 Peter and just knowing that in 1 Peter, he was an apostle of Jesus Christ. But then in 2 Peter, became a slave and an apostle of Jesus Christ. So when you become a— when you continue a follower of Jesus and, you know, walking in the discipleship, you become not just a, a follower, you become a slave. That's why we said serving the Lord, serving the Lord. That is what What we do, we serve the Lord, and it is thankful. You know, that's why I'm like you're thankful that you can make the right decisions and stand on the right foundation. Be bold, be courageous, and then do everything in love because as you continue to follow Christ, you become more of a model of Christ. And that's when you know diving deeper into the text and the word of God, it says. Greater is he that is in me. Because as you continue to follow Christ, he becomes inside of you, and your actions, your approach, your, your speech, it's going to shift the focus off yourself and shift the focus onto others. I could possibly need to hear this in this moment, but what do they need based off of what God is guiding me to, where God has brought me from, and what he's doing? So just breaking down the word, and as we do this, this is a programming approach. So this approach for the programming is incorporating the devotion, the reflection, the daily strategy and approach as we break down the text in a more deeper level of awareness and comprehension. And that's another word as far as comprehension. You know, are we comprehending, you know, the, the, the word? And today's word was home construction, and everything today was just about constructing a home and building. Where, where do we start? Where building get on the set? So we start from the bottom as far as building, you know, building on the rock. Where is the location? Is found at the atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. So ponder on that. We'll break down a little bit more about ion. That's more of a scientific, um, but just kind of the example of an ion or molecule. Think of rain, um, the molecules structure of water, how small and minute it is. That's why he said like faith as small as a mustard seed. You even think about an atom, or you building on the foundation of a rock, you can go as granular as an atom or a molecule. So that's what you have to think about— where is that found at? Um, so we have to kind of unpack. That's why we want to do the homework as far as unpacking the things that were built in the past that we had maybe not have been aware of, so that we can start to build it on the truth. And so thank you guys for joining I Teach On today. I hope that you get a chance to go back and watch the video for the daily reflection and devotion, and tune into our great space where we are being fruitful and multiplying, and we are multiplying the word of God. So thank you guys. Be
