Hey everyone, and welcome to the Mindcast. I'm Sharnita Gates, and I'm excited to be here on this podcast episode we have titled Let's Train. Let's train, y'all, where we're going to explore the importance of training ourselves spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. So I want to welcome you into this Mindcast. Let's be trained. Let's start by diving into the significance of intentional personal development across 3 dimensions. Those 3 dimensions are our spiritual, our mental, and our emotional aspect of our being. Let's define training. What does it mean to be trained? So we're going to discuss the process of intentional learning, discipline, and growth. So training is the process of intentionally learning, being disciplined, and growing. Training involves some deliberate actions and efforts. That are aimed at acquiring knowledge and skills and also habits. And this is to achieve specific goals or outcomes. It often requires discipline, consistency, and a growth mindset. And this is the year of consistent seed. So consistently— and we'll get into how often you have to train. So training involves that deliberate action and effort that is aimed at acquiring knowledge, skills, and habits to achieve specific goals or outcomes. It often requires discipline and consistency and a growth mindset. So now that we have the, the understanding of training as far as the intentional Learning and discipline and growth, and then also the acquiring of knowledge, skills, and habits. Remember those because it's going to require some discipline, consistency, and a growth mindset. Oh, the 3 is learning, discipline, and growth. You're acquiring knowledge, skills, and habits, and it requires discipline. Consistency and a growth mindset. So now that we have the definitions, it's like a three by three. Remember three by three when it comes to training. It's a three. It's a three dimensional three three dimensional three by three dimen three by three by three by three dimensional because we started with the space. Spiritual, mental, and emotional. And then you have the definition: intentional learning, discipline, and growth. And then you have the efforts and the actions, which is acquiring knowledge, skills, and habits. And then what it requires is discipline, consistency, and a growth mindset. And I'm gonna repeat those things as often as possible. Because I really want you guys to understand and remember when it comes into training, like, there is dimensions or levels to training. The biblical foundation that we're building these trainings on is exploring the mandate that we have for training ourselves, and that is coming from the scriptures like Proverbs 22:6. Where it says, train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. The training in a child in the way— so Jesus is the way, so we have to be trained in the way so that when we get older or as time go by, we will not depart from it. And just the same way we don't want to depart from Christ, so we have to go through the training. And remember, there's dimensions and levels to that training, even when it comes to being trained in the way of Jesus. So Proverbs 22:6, it really emphasizes the importance of early instruction because it says, train up a child in— a child, a child. So as far as early instruction and guidance in shaping a person's path. So example, if you have a child and you want that child to become a doctor, and that's the path that you want that child to take, so you're going to have to start training at a very early age. Because if you train them up in the way that they should go, then they won't depart from it. They'll probably go to, you know, go to school for becoming a doctor. And so the underscoring of that verse is the value of intentional training and its lasting impact. So the depart— will not depart from it— that is lasting impact. And based off of the value of intentional training, because you have to be intentional when it comes to training up a child. You have to be intentional because it has a lasting impact, even if you do not. So that's the importance of why you wanted to—you want to train based on the biblical foundation of the word because it's the instructions that we need before we leave Earth, and then while we are on Earth, we need to follow those instructions. And so God is so. Great in love that he gave us his only begotten Son for us. So we have an example. We have Jesus as our example. So being able to reflect on Jesus' life and his ministry is the ultimate example of intentional training and preparation for his mission. Think about the Old Testament. The entire Old Testament was making way for Jesus. That is an ultimate example of intentional training. We can reflect on the Old Testament and the New Testament as well, but the Old Testament really gives us that preparation and that training. When you think about the laws that was given, and then you think about the commands that Jesus made in the New Testament, and think about the promises And what, like for instance, Noah, what, how long it took him to take, you know, how long it took him to build the ark. Think about that. Is that training is, it has to be intentional. And then think about the, the people before Noah that had to go through training. So, and then the people who, who was with Noah, who locked— they had to go through training. So in all that, it allows us to be able to train on the things that God has said so that we will not depart from his word, which is Christ, and continue to follow the way. If we're trained in the way, we'll follow the way. So being able to reflect on Jesus' life and his— the service that he provided to us It really provides a great example on how we can be intentional about training and preparation for our own missions. Jesus spent years in preparation before beginning his public ministry. So think about the example of when Jesus was in the temple teaching and his— he told his mom, did you not know that I'll be about my Father's business? he was in training. Like, Jesus was in training years before his actual public ministry. So that— it also mentions in Luke 2:52 that he grew in wisdom, he grew in stature and favor with God and man. So it, it really indicates the deliberate growth and training that God took for us. And because we can learn from everything from Jesus and walk in, in, in the— down the path, because he has set the path, the way to walk. You know, that's why he said do not look from the left or to the right, um, go down righteous way and wisdom, you know, wisdom road. And so he give it— he's given us the way that we can follow in his path And be trained in the way. So your relationship with with Christ, even if you're not trained up as a child, that's why God's so he's so good that he gave us the ability to become a new creature, be born again, and be born of the you know of the of the spirit, and be able to receive a new life. Like unless we are born again, we can't see the kingdom of heaven. So given us the ability to be born again if we're not trained in the way. Because then when he does the training, and when we get the training and we're being— we're, we're born again, then once we go through the training, or, you know, if once, once you go through the training, you, you will not depart from it. And you'll be able to grow in wisdom, stature, and with— in favor with God and man. And have that deliberate, intentional growth and training. So now I want to touch into the dimensions of the mind, our mental. Let's, let's dive into how do we train our mental. So training our minds, what, what to think on, what to speak, what to process, where, you know, so Our minds, it's a processor. It's like a processor. It's not a storage place, but it's a processor. So it's constantly processing things. And if you tune and have a great processor, it's going to be able to filter out the things to really guard your heart. That's why we want you to say guard your heart above all else. Um, and so now I want to discuss the importance of renewing our minds daily through prayer. Meditation on the scripture and seeking wisdom. So we ask in prayer, you know, um, you, you can ask, you know, send up supplication after you, um, show adoration, after you confess, um, and after you put, you know, thanksgiving. You can ask, and he says ask and it shall— ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find. So seeking wisdom, you shall find it, and then knock and the door shall be opened. And so there's many rooms in, in the kingdom of God. So I really want to break down Romans 12:2 because it really urges us as believers to renew our minds. And even non-believers— Romans 12:2 is not just for believers. It also urges non-believers to renew their minds, which emphasizes the transformative power of aligning our thoughts with God's truth. Jesus is the truth. So when we come into alignment with Jesus through prayer and meditation, that's that transformative power, um, of our, our minds, because I will be able to rest our minds, our, our thoughts in Christ Jesus. And so you get that peace that surpasses all understanding. So that's the, the big importance of renewing our minds. And I want to highlight, because when we're talking about intentionality and being deliberate, this is daily. We have to do this daily through, through prayer and meditation. The meditations of our heart, what we understand. So we have to make sure that we really understand the scriptures. So that takes time. So we delight in the word and we meditate on it day and night. Because as you meditate on it day and night, you're keeping yourself grounded in the word and your thoughts are grounded in, in perfect peace. Um, so you can be able to think on whatever is true. You can think on— he, he is the truth, so you can think on the truth and the things that are lovely. His grace, his mercy, his forgiveness, his self-control. We can even, you know, delight in the law because against the Spirit of God there is no law. So we get to really train our minds on, on Jesus. And as we go through the path, we won't depart from him. We'll be able to trust in the Lord with all our heart. And when we go, we won't have to lean in the wrong direction of our own. So really meditate on the word and continue to seek wisdom, for God gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. Now, because knowledge and understanding comes from his mouth, and every scripture is his breath, So we have to hear what the Lord is saying to us, and we really have to open up our, our minds to receive it and really write it on our hearts. Like, the more and more you understand, and as you approach it and become intentional about understanding, the more and more it'll come into your heart. And then when it overflows and it becomes an abundance, it'll be able to flow. Out of your mouth, and like that's why I said it from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So as you overflow in your heart and your understanding, and even if you so this is the same where you misunderstand something. So it brings a lot of clarity even when you misunderstand the word, but it's okay. His grace is sufficient enough for us to. Make those mistakes, but to continue— as you continue to seek wisdom and, and be deliberate and intentional about understanding, I'm just going to trust in the Lord with all my heart. Even when I misunderstand, I'm going to trust in him. That as I ask for clarity, as I ask for understanding, as I ask for the word, as I ask for faith— because when you ask for faith, if it comes by hearing, so— and it comes by hearing by the word of God. So you can ask or clarity through faith. The more and more you receive faith, the more clarity you're going to receive. So this allows us to really train our minds. And then we, we still have our, our other dimensions. I'm gonna wrap it up for right now, and we're going to go into a part 2. So let's, let's really think about what it means to be trained. Remember, it's a 3-dimensional process when it comes to defining and when it comes down to the actual process and the requirements. So really think about that when it comes into the spirit, the mind, and our humanistic nature. We have to be intentional about learning We have to be intentional about our being disciplined. We have to be intentional about our growth. And when we talked about the mind, we have to be intentional because it's really going to— for our mindset to be set on growth, we have to really realize and understand that it takes discipline and it takes consistency. So I would even encourage you to listen to this daily. To really understand. And then you'll be like, okay, I can remember the discipline, the consistency, and the growth mindset. That is what is required. So, and then also what, what's being acquired is knowledge, skills, and habits. And that's based off of my actions and my efforts. And then also for the process, it's going to take intentional learning. discipline and growth in all 3 dimensions from our spiritual, our mental, and our emotional aspects. So I thank you guys for joining the Mindcast. Until next time, we still have more depths of our spiritual, our mental, and our emotional well-being. And what we're doing, y'all, we are being trained.
