Sharnita Gates offers a guide to confession and forgiveness, drawing from her own struggle to forgive. She argues that true spiritual growth means moving from ignorance to heart-level understanding of Christ, and that walking in the light requires knowing Jesus deeply enough to practice confession and fellowship with others.

Hey everyone, and welcome back to The Word Project. I am Sharnita Gates, and I'm excited to be back here with you guys as we get better with the Bible and as we get better spiritually. So there was something that I came across and I really wanted to share it with you guys and kind of go deep into it, and it was a guide to confession and forgiveness. Now, I know someone who has been struggling with forgiveness. I once struggled with forgiveness. So as we get together and get better with the Bible, I think that this is something that we can work through together. So one of the things is I want you to know is God wants to talk and walk you in the light and to have fellowship with him and other Christians. So what does that mean? I think when it comes to getting better with anything, that's why we are in this month's theme of Operation Ignorance, because we know if we are ignorant and actually understanding— if it's not in our heart, we really can't understand it. So what I want this group, as we get better with the Bible, is to have an understanding Not here, but here in our hearts. So we are fertilizing these hearts with the truth. And when we know the truth is, of course, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. So if God wants you to walk in the light, how do you walk in the light? That's something we just can't tell somebody, walk in the light. The light is Christ. Like walking, knowing, you know more about Christ. If you're ignorant in knowing about Christ, you're not going to be able to walk in the light. He is the light of the world. So if you can't— if you don't know about the light, you can't walk in the light. So we want you to walk in the light. So we want you to get that understanding of who Christ is and to also have fellowship with God and him in their relationship. And this is where the relationship comes into play, is as more and more you walk in the light and get to know the light, get to know the truth, you get to know Jesus Christ, who is our Lord and King of Kings, the more you can actually be able to fellowship with other Christians as well, which is a goal.
