Overflow in my soul

A devotional on asking God for help and trusting his rescue. The speaker weaves together Bible passages about waiting for renewal, serving others with compassion, and living as God's children. A personal story about losing a notebook on a bus illustrates letting go of material worry.

Blessings and welcome to the Grace Space today, where we are being fruitful and multiplying on the Word of God today. And today we have a special topic. Today is going to be Overflow in My Soul. So right now I am asking, and we are about to go into Matthew 7:7. Ask and it shall be given to you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened. So today we're— it's going to be an incorporation of multiple reflections, multiple devotions, and multiple strategies and approach. We are about to overflow our minds and dive into the word of God and multiply that word as we Thank God for his grace. It is truly sufficient as we go through in the waiting, the suffering, the pressure, everything. It is working together. So as we continue to pull and learn more about the word of God and what God said, we know that every scripture is God's breath and is useful for teaching, correcting, rebuking and training us so that we are thoroughly equipped for every good work. And this is the good work. I'm thankful that I'm able to be able to be here to do the good work. So as we go through this good work today, we're going to overflow. So get ready for the word on today. So today, God's rescue. Let's start there. Let's start there about talking about God's rescue. I'm not sure if you guys are like me. I need God to rescue me. There are some times I've been in the past where I may have been lost or did not know how to move forward into the next thing that God has called me to do. Or maybe I got lost in what somebody else said do. And it's now it's time to— one of the things we're going to— I pray you continue to listen because we're going to touch on that self-love. But we have to think about love. God is love. He said, love the Lord God with all your heart, your mind, and your strength. So that's why we're overflowing our soul so that we can love God with our whole being. That's everything intentionally. If, as we went through the reflection on yesterday, I think it was yesterday, but as we went through the reflection, we were talking about our mind, our eyes, our ears, our nose, everything, giving that over to God to have that produce that fruit. We're producing fruit. What is one of those fruits that we have to produce? Love. And that's self-control. So as we go into those things, it's going to kind of— as we love the Lord God with our heart, our mind, and all our strength, and then love others as we love ourselves, we are able to tap into what that self-love is. Self-love, God's discipline, and his obedience. Like, we obey the word of God by obeying The Son. And just tapping in, you know, accepting that whole— accepting the Holy Spirit, you know, the whole— that Holy Spirit is of God, and we have to tap in. So we're overflowing today with the word. And so as we talk about God's rescue when we're lost, deserted, betrayed, or whatever we're going through, if you, if you tap into the gray space often, you'll hear me say always. And I'm going to touch into that because anytime you're lonely, worship answers your soul. So we're going to start off with Psalms 40:2. He, he lifted me. God, he lifted me up out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. So God, God does the lifting as we continue to— as we say, we are asking, we are seeking. So as we seek and we knock, God is just where he is. It's the word. We're knocking. God, I need— it's like, imagine you being in a room and the word— God is in the room. He— and you first, you have to ask. You can ask someone and say, hey, Do you have you seen God? Have you seen God? And then you can seek, you can run around like, but then he's in the room and you knock and the door was open and you so he finds you, he lifts you up out of that place and he then when you just imagine once you enter that room and after you knock, he he sets your feet on a rock so and the the rock and he sets your feet on Jesus like okay. Seek. Now here's you know the word that you need. This is the obedience, the discipline that you need, and then you can stand firm like okay, I am now operating in the obedience and discipline of Christ, and that's how great our God is. So this that's why I'm like God's rescue. Just thinking about God rescuing me from situations where I may have been lost. I I mean I was at I was you know how you ask somebody like hey hey I. need this. But you know, one of the things you can say, hey, can you hand me a soda? But you really don't need no soda. You don't really— or you— this is not necessarily what you truly need, but you're knocking on the heart of God. Like, so now just think about it like, God, I need you. I need you, God. So that's where I'm saying God is there to rescue you. So one of the things that we've been praying, you know, been praying about and talking about and discussing and just diving more into is understanding compassion. And I'm like, I need a little bit more clarity. I had to ask. I really had to ask. Like, I need a little bit of clarity on what compassion is. It's different from you just saying, you know, be compassionate. How do you be compassionate? So it was like, okay, as a volunteer, um, we broke it down. As a volunteer, and between volunteering and Compassion is your guardian angel. My good, my guardian. So those heroic efforts that you, you make, that you pull out of others and return as, you know, it returns to you back as grateful. That compassion, when you, you make an urgent like search, you start to search for like, God, I'm, I'm searching for this, I'm searching for it. And your guardian angel is just standing in the gap, but you have to be willing To volunteer to basically say, I'm going to urgently, you know, urgently seek after what needs to be found. And when you find it, and it may be in a deep path, so it no longer— no, you know, no, no matter how long it takes, how deep, how wide you're stuck, that's the way you think about it. You know, God's compassion, no matter how deep, how wide it may be where you're stuck, God is still— he's still able to rescue. That's the compassion that God has. And when I, you know, dive into, you know, dove into the word, I'm like, God, you are compassionate. No matter how big of a pit or, you know, a mess I may make, you still rescue me. And all you know, and I'm sitting there crying out for mercy and waiting patiently, like, God, are you going to get me out of this one? How are you? You know, I got— I I, I may, you know, I went the wrong, you know, I need help. Help me out of this. I'm in this place where I may feel, you know, like I'm being betrayed. I may, um, feel devastated. Just being honest, like, this is one of the— just unpacking. That's why we're overflowing. This is just unpacking everything that we have, you know, been through. And it's— this is something that's needed because It's like being on a desert island. Do you want to get rescued? Like when, when Jesus asked, do you want to be made whole? Yes, yes. I don't— so it's just understanding how to be, you know. He said pick up your mat and walk. That was the instructions. So it's when it comes to compassion and when you're seeking after compassion, like how? Volunteer, you know. Your guardian angel will stand in the gap between you being compassionate and when you go out and urgently seek and then find, it'll all come together. And then that's where deliverance, true deliverance, comes from. God's rescue is the deliverance, and it's a sure footing where you can stand firm. As we said in Psalms 40:2, he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. So after you come out the mud, you may be dirty, but you have a— you have something you can stand on. And standing on the word of God is The rock on which we, we stand. That is the rock in which we stand. It's God, it's our trust. We put our trust in God and his word, what he says, um, and we share in that. We share in his story with our story, and we're, you know, volunteering, going back. And how do you volunteer? Be ready to help and be willing and ready to to step in and knowing that you may, you know, have to get in the mud with someone else, or, you know, but you know that God is there. God is always there, and he's, he's there to rescue you. So don't fear about going in deeper, you know. And we all, you know, and that's that, like we say, false evidence appearing real. Um, but for we forsake everything, I trust him. So we trust in God, trusting in God. So when stuck, wait patiently. Okay, so when stuck, wait patiently. Compassion. How do you show compassion? When stuck, wait patiently. And then in the middle of that, a middle of you, when you're stuck or when you're waiting patiently, our God is in the middle. Our loving God is standing in the middle, and then you know what will come next? He will provide. So that is just the the overflowing overflowing us with the knowing that God will rescue you. You may you just keep waiting, wait patiently, wait patiently. So continue to wait patient. So we gonna continue to overflow. So as we wait patiently. We're going to think about being full. So how do you be full while waiting patiently? How do you remain or or get full? So we are talking about a healthy and happy life. Well, we're not going to just stop there at a healthy and happy life. A lot of times when we okay just because we have a happy and healthy life, we're full. But to get full, once you have the happiness and you have that health, you also have to think about the joy, the wealth— that of wealth and of knowledge and understanding, wisdom, the word, you know, obedience and discipline, all those things. Then you start to become full. And when you become full, you become full of what? Life. So think about it. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the word of God. And the word of God is about Christ. So therefore, the more and more you hear the Word of God and more about Christ, you become full of life. Because guess what? He's the life, he's the way, he's the truth. So the more and more you, you learn and have more, we're overflowing our mind, our mouths, our noses. Breathe in the fresh air of God, the Word of God. Breathe it in. It is, it is, it is life. It is life. Say that. If you say that with me, it is life. Jesus is life. Okay, so that's Philippians 4:4. We're going to dive into it. So rejoice in the Lord always. Rejoice. I'm gonna put anytime lonely, worship answers your soul. So rejoice in the Lord anytime lonely, worship answers your soul. I will say it again. Rejoice, rejoice anytime lonely worship answers your soul. So what are you rejoicing in? In the Lord. Lord, you are great. Lord, you are almighty. Thank you for your obedience. Thank you for your discipline. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you, Lord, for your giving. The giver of life. He gave his only begotten Son for us. So we, we can rejoice and say thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. And that's where we, we get to have that choice. When we were talking about self-control and self-discipline and self-love— God is love, so self comes after God. So after we love the Lord with all our minds, our hearts, our strength, our everything, And we receive God and his breath lives in us. When we basically have that self-care, we get to step into the choices, the choices that we make. So now we are making different choices. So now it is very, it's very important to identify those choices, the decisions that you're making. So before, you have to see what are the choices, what are my choices? And the choices— are you choosing happiness? And like we said, happiness is where this— where it starts. Happiness is like daily, you know. We have to choose to be happy daily. And as we choose to prioritize our happiness, okay, so daily, what makes me happy? What truly makes me happy? You know, starting my day in the Lord, starting my, my day with worship and praise and thanksgiving and gratitude daily is where my, you know, makes me happy. Nothing you can give me— a lot of things are different every day, but is it truly making me happy? And so, you know, we are the owners of our happiness. So when we put our hands up, it's like, that is— I'm owning my happiness. I am owning my happiness. I am the whole owner of my happiness. It's my spirit of gratitude. And I, one of the things that I really wanted to highlight is that we can't put it in other people's hands. Whose hands are it? Is it in whose hands is the hap your happiness in? And be honest with yourself. Like my happiness was relying in other. Like okay, just to share. Like previously going back, you know, going to church, going to church with a spouse. Or it was more of my happiness was in them, you know, more than it was honestly going to church. Because I'm like, okay, if Jesus— I know Jesus, I know God, you know, I know that, you know, the Holy Spirit, I know them. But do I know? Do I understand? Do I have knowledge and understanding? But it was my happiness was not in, you know, reading the word of God. I had to read the word of God more and more and more. And take my happiness out of— outside of a relationship and put it into a relationship with one I really truly, you know, was actually after the whole entire time. It wasn't my spouse. It was just basically I was just ignorant. And, you know, just being honest, and we have to be honest. And when somebody said this the other day, it's, um, unknowing ignorance and willing Willing, willing ignorance. I was at a place where I was unknowingly ignorant, and there's still some areas where I may be unknowingly ignorant, but it's a difference when you, you know, know, really truly understand, and have a heart posture to say, okay, my willingness is not in that, you know, I'm not ignorant. I have knowledge of that situation, so I'm not going to be ignorant. In it. Um, so it helped me to better, you know, make choices. Like, make better choices. When you make better choices, you basically know where you can stay, and that's that place of happiness. It's fulfillment. Fulfillment, like I said, is happiness and health and all those things. That's the starting point. And then when those starting points is the, you know, it starts to become a seed that you can plant, like joy. My joy is in the Lord, you know. My wealth is in the Lord, the true riches of his inheritance. Um, and it becomes— it becomes life. It becomes life. Greater is he that is in me. So when the life is in me, truly in me, I can actually step into a greater place when that's my My my grace space. So thank you guys for joining the grace space. This is the grace space where it's his God's grace is sufficient no matter where we at. Like I was saying before, when we in stuck in the mud, God's come. You know, he's he's he's there to rescue us. So remember Philippians four: Rejoice in the Lord always. Anytime lonely worship answers your soul. I will say it again: Rejoice. Always, anytime lonely worship answers your soul. I'm not lonely right now because you guys are watching, but at the same time, I still hear. I just love to worship and worship God. So it's in my hands. It's not in no one else's hands how I may worship. Thank my spirit of gratitude. It is My daily decision that I have to make to put forth my self-care, my love for my God, my love for others, you know, being a volunteer, knowing that my, you know, guardian angel is stepping in it. So it allows me to produce compassion. So how do you produce compassion? You know, get in there, you know, urgently seek, find. It's— you'll find yourself being a lot more compassionate. Um, don't let those regrets get to you in any, any form or shape or way, because those regrets are based off of others. Um, and probably you and me. Like, from me being honest, it's, you know, I have my own regrets. But sometimes, um, when we lie our, you know, lie our happiness It could be in others, and then, you know, the regret is big, you know, based off of where we laid it. And if it was in others, you know, we faced that, we faced that, that disappointment. Um, and then this one I really like. Um, we do not give up. Our physical bodies may get older and weaker, but the spirit that is inside of us is made new Every day, the spirit in us is made new every day, and that is Isaiah 40 and 31. Stronger—I'm sorry—outwardly wasting. So that's second Corinthians 4:16. Second Corinthians 4:16 is we do not give up our physical because our physical bodies are getting older and weaker, but the spirit. Inside us is made new every day. I'm I'm I'm remember, but um so yeah daily daily. How long are you waiting? Daily waiting, waiting patiently every day for that strength in us. Like you say love the Lord God your heart your mind and your strength. That strength is being renewed daily. Our bodies may be getting older. We always talk about our bodies, but and our you know, and how old we're getting. But the spirit, it is renewed every day. I can't, I can't, I I'll get excited. I don't know about you guys, but it's the spirit that keeps gives me life. That's all. That's all word right there. It is the spirit that gives me life. Not my body, not my age. I can be ninety-nine, and the spirit is being renewed every single day. That's um that's where my strength comes from. My strength comes from the Lord. So, and when you are strong, you know, as we wait, we getting stronger. And that's Isaiah forty um thirty-one. They that wait on the Lord um. shall renew their strength. So you are dependent on someone else, and that someone else is Jesus our Lord. They that wait— where? In the Lord. So where are you depending on? It doesn't say they that wait on Bobby. Don't say that. They that wait on Bobby shall renew their strength. Sorry, Bobby. But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. And I'm only saying that because, you know, Hearing it, but actually hearing and listening, being a doer. And say, they that wait on the Lord— I'm waiting on the Lord, you know. Now you may be at a bus stop and somebody, you know, a bus actually— what you're waiting on? You probably wait on the bus, but you're really waiting on the Lord because he will renew your strength. Um, but you know, that's, that's here or there, but, um, You are depending on the Lord. We are depending on the Lord. So not, not trying to solve any issues on your own. That just, that brought back, um, a time when I was on the bus, when I was taking the bus back and forth. And, you know, I'll just be patiently waiting, you know. And now that I think about it, you know, I was waiting on the Lord. Um, and he really, really did renew my strength. Like, I would not be here just thinking about the, the, the day that it really, really changed my life. Just being honest, being on the bus, and I was just telling someone I had a, um, a Bible study notebook of all my notes, all my, my good notes, and I was like, I was trying to run through them and trying to remember it. Each one of those notes because I'm like, I'm about to have to let this go. So I left it at the bus stop, and the only reason why I left it at the bus stop because it would you know I was I I needed the Lord more than I needed that piece of paper. It was the word. It was I needed the obedience to continue to diligently seek Him. So not solving issues on our own. I was I was I could have tried to solve that issue I was going through. On my own, but I'm thankful and grateful that I'm here just being able to share and speak and think about the goodness. That's why I said we're overflowing our souls, just that I would be here for, you know, all day if I could, just to be— I could be here all day if I could. We look diving in, my mind just set on God. Um, but this, I— this is the part that I share. Um, As I become more obedient and disciplined in mind, you know, and it's that perseverance. We know that suffering produces perseverance, and that perseverance produces character, and that character produces hope. So what am I hoping for? You know, holy dependence and trust in God's solution. If you ask me, that is what I hope for, to have my whole trust in God and His solutions. I don't want to do anything on my own. I don't want to try to provide solutions based off of anything but the instructions that God has given, and that's the Bible. That's His word. So His word is better than our own or anyone else. Yeah, if someone tried to give me some advice, I'm like, "I really need God's word in this situation." I don't need advice. I don't, I don't need opinions. And I mean, honestly, I'm not saying that I don't accept advice or opinions, but if you're asking me what I need to persevere to the next, the next level or space that I'm trying to, you know, hope— what I'm hoping for is God's solutions. Um, so that is— and then I'm gonna wait, I'm gonna wait patiently on the Lord. And then This is just the backstory because one of the things I tell people, it's good to cry. And it's like one of those things like let the tears roll because that's where God's Spirit is. Um, in the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth and the earth was void and without form and darkness was on the face of the deep, you know, God's Spirit was over you, hovering over the face of the deep waters. So, you know, God's Spirit is always— it was always with us when we, you know, cry. And so this Psalms 56:8, you've seen me tossing and turning night through the night. You see me tossing and turning through the night. You collected my tears and persevered, um, preserved them in a bottle and recorded them in your book. So God knows. Like, that's why I'm like, God, I just sometimes I'm like, I just I will cry. I do cry, and I didn't understand. You know, previously I couldn't understand why people like you don't cry. I do cry. I do cry. I do cry. I do cry. But God sees that. God sees that, and it's okay. To cry. I'm not saying it's, you know, it's not okay to cry in front of others. I do cry in front of others. Um, but, you know, just hearing the talk about, you know, how today receiving a message on, on pain, like, just because we're not in pain doesn't mean that we're not hurt. And there has been situations where I went through painful things, but that doesn't mean I'm not hurt. Like, I'm hurt. Like in some, you know, in, in areas. I just, like I said earlier, I was ignorant in some areas. Like, oh, you're— no, I mean, I don't know everything. I need God's solutions. God's solutions. God's solution. And we might need to re-change this one instead of, um, Overflow of My Soul. Might even need to call this God's Solutions. Um, I love God's Solutions. Um, Might have to go with that one. Um, but just thinking about how he collects our tears, he records those in his book, he, he preserved them. We are preserved. He, he rescues us. God is everything. God is— I'm about to start praising him because he's just, he's so loving, he's so caring, full of joy and patience and peace. and graceful and merciful. He's a, he's a healer, he's a provider, he's just a creator. For me, I'd be like, God, you are a creator, you are an innovator, you are my idol, you are my, you are my, my, my temple, you are every, every word, you are it, you know. You are, you are, you are in everything, you know everything, you created everything. So it's just being able to Your solutions. That's why I say here God's solutions, because we have all God's resources. Now whether we have access to those resources is a different story, but they're still his resources. Me speaking right now is a resource because it's God. I'm God's creation. You are God's creation, so you are his resource. He's the source. He's the source of life. He's the source of everything. God, you're great. You're awesome. You're almighty. Oh Lord, I love you. God, you are great. God, you are great. So, um, let's, let's go ahead and go into Job, uh, 36:11. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days And prosperity in their years and pleasures and opportunity and favor is, is boundless. It's boundless. And that's based off obey and serve the blueprint. Like, I was just thinking, sometimes I, when I think, I'm like, okay, shall I say it? But yeah, you know. Imagine if when we come out of the womb and they hand us the the instructions, that instruction would be God's word. And I'm just saying that like because it's like we have to hand we have to that blueprint before like we was talking about the other day the foundation the found at the atom or molecule. Okay, let's break that down. Let's— I'm gonna go— I think I still have one, but just to kind of break that down, we're gonna go through it. But just about the foundation, the foundation, I have it somewhere, but just, just go back and listen to that reflection, um, teaching on the user, the user manual. The user manual to all resources is the Bible. So I, you know, you people may say Um, this or that— TV, printer, um, cell phone, TV. What's the user manual? The Bible. That is the— that is the— that's the first user manual, the instructions. Because, you know, how we watch TV, you know, we need to guard our heart above all else. So how we guard our hearts based off of our, our gaze, we need to protect our gates. So we have to be— we have to know how to make good decisions on the things that we watch, the things that we say, the things that we hear. And those things are, you know, come from the word of God. So if, if we have the— if that's— let's break it down. Job 36:11. If they— if everyone, like I said, if we were to get— everybody was born through the womb, okay? If you weren't, let me know. Um, But everyone was born through the womb. And so if they, everyone, obey and serve— so if everybody, like I was saying, they got their blueprint, the Bible, when they first came out to, you know, serve him, our Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ— they shall spend their days. So we talk about Monday through Sunday, all our days in prosperity. I'm just sorry, that just made me want to praise him some more. And, uh, you know, um, but just think about it, being able to spend our days in prosperity, not talking about any other thing but obeying and serving him, obeying and serving him in prosperity. And it's about what we're talking about is opportunity and favor. Favor is boundless because the, the years will turn into pleasure. So, um, the sacrifice is worthy. He's worthy of our sacrifice. And I'm gonna look up, um, Romans 12:1, and I don't want to misquote it, so I'm gonna look it up. But I, you know, I know Romans 12:2, you know, um, do not conform to the patterns of this world. So the patterns of this world— nobody is giving a baby a Bible. I'm just, I'm just saying, I, you know, just being Open, um, you know, um, but Romans 12:1, and this is the King James Version: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our purest form when we're first born, and we're in our most purest form, which is your reasonable service. So if they obey and serve him, and they have the blueprint to do it, then they shall spend their days Monday through Sunday, or however you know that every day from sunup to sundown in prosperity. And that's the opportunity and the favor of God. And is where he's worthy. He's he's worthy. He's worthy of it all. And that's Heaven on earth. That's heaven on earth. That's why I said today is God's solutions. I, you know, um, I was thinking about calling it the, um, Overflowing My Soul. I'ma still call it Overflowing My Soul. You're gonna have to tap into this to, uh, grace space because it is sufficient enough for you to receive this word as far as God's solutions. So what, what great love the Father has lavished on us that we should, we should be called children of God. John 3:1. I'm gonna just leave it at there because children of God, just think about it. I mean, honestly, for me, I It wasn't like the instructions, but it was just like, um, God's voice was there from the beginning. So just knowing— I've always known that I was a child of God, but then it's like, okay, even for me having to learn how to obey my mom, you know, obey my mother and my father and honor them, or, oh, you know, honor others or obey others, you know, and when it comes to authority. But, um, obeying and serving the Lord really helped me to be able to serve others properly, correctly, um, in the best way that God has called me. And for me to be a child of God, um, he deserves the best. He deserves the most highest quality of my worship, my My life, um, my, my strength, my mind. He deserves it all. So that's why, you know, one of the things with this gray space, it is my way to kind of express it and walk through it knowing that God is there. Amen. And God will rescue me, and just trusting in him and, you know, patiently waiting to build up this newness inside of me. Which is, um, comes after the renewing of my mind. So, and it's a transformation that I'm going through, um, I'm persevering through, I'm thanking God through. I know he's, he's here with, you know, with me at all times. And just kind of remembering, just to be able to remember how great God is. So I thank everyone for joining the Grace Space and continue to, you know, seek, ask, ask first, seek and knock, and you will find that God is— he's always been there, he will be there, and he's, he's looking to compassionately rescue you. So thank you guys for joining the Grace
