Seeds, Fruit and Functioning // Grace Space // Sharnita Gates

Sharnita Gates explores Mark 4's parables of seeds and growth to show how God's kingdom develops in believers. She emphasizes "take heed what you hear" and urges listeners to nurture spiritual growth through Scripture, obedience, and the Holy Spirit's work to bear fruit that multiplies God's word.
Chapters
Hey everyone, welcome back to the Grace Space where we are still being fruitful and multiplying and multiplying the word of God. Let's get started. I'm excited today. Excuse the voice, yesterday was Resurrection. Well, It was Pentecost Sunday. And so, um, he gets all the glory and the praise, every breath that's in my lungs. Okay, so today we are starting a brand new canvas of our heart. Well, it's not brand new, we still have a couple more pages. Um, Well, I have a couple more pages in my book, um, so not a new canvas. We're starting a new chapter and book today. We're starting in Luke— I mean Mark. We're going through Mark. And so get your, get your Bibles, get your canvases, get your colors. And I did bring some new colors on today. Where are they? I brought my colors. Where my colors? Oh, I see them. Well, I, I kind of brought my colors. So get your Bibles, get your colors, and let's dive into the word for today. How'd you guys enjoy Luke? I really enjoyed Luke. It was, it was good. It was good to go back and share. Today is going to be, um, a little bit different because, um, I just wanna let let's let's dive into the word first. Okay, let's let's let's let's get into the word. So today, dirty dirty old dirt. I can't even say it right. Yes, I can. Dirty old Dirt. Okay, so dirty old dirt. Why does that make me want to go into the— this is Going— this is going to be good. I'm getting— I'm starting with a pen today. So let's go to Mark 4:26-29. Mark four. You know, I like to start at the beginning. Now we did Matthew thirteen. We did Luke 7 and 8 when we touched on the parable of the sower, and now we have Mark, and we're starting at Mark 4, and we're going to make our way all the way to verse 29. There are 41, 41 verses. Let's see how far we can make it today. Let's see if we can make it all the way to 41. So let's start in Matthew— I mean, Mark 4. And he began again to teach by the seaside. So we back by the seaside. So that same day, Jesus left the house and went and said, you know, get set in the boat, and he began to speak. And so he said he began to teach by the, by the seaside. Oh, I kind of want to go back and touch on that. And there was gathered unto him a great multitude. Okay. So that he entered into a ship. And set in the scene. And the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. And the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. Okay, and he taught them many things by parables, and he said unto them in his doctrine Hearken. Behold, there went out a sower to sow. And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and the fowls Of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground where it had not much earth, and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased. And brought forth some 30, 60, and some 100. And he said unto them, He that has ears to hear, let him hear. And when he was alone, they that were about him with the 12 asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables, that seeing they might see and not perceive, and hearing they might hear and not understand, lest at any time they should be converted and their sins shall be forgiven them. So talking about the convert now, he's talking— Mark talks about the conversion, the conversion, uh, and there's, you know, and their sins be forgiven. So as far as the, the disciples who's walking with, with Christ asked him, and he said unto them, know ye not this parable? And how then will ye know all, all parables? So even with— so that's a good That's good. Let's break that down. Know ye not this parable? And how then will ye know all parables? So even he's speaking to them in parables. The sower soweth the word, and these are they by the wayside where the word is sown. But when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately and taketh away the word that was was sown in their hearts. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness, and have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a little time. Afterward, when affliction or perseverance ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are, they are offended. And these are they which are, which are sown among thorns, which Such as hear the word, and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good ground, such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth some 30-fold, some 60, and some 100. So the parable of the kingdom About the kingdom. And he said unto them, is a candle brought to be put under a bushel or under a bed and not to be set on a candlestick? For there is nothing hid which shall be manifested, neither was anything kept secret but that it should come abroad. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. Take— and he said unto them, take heed what you hear. That's, that's, that's, that's Take Heat. That's, that's our, that's our highlight. Take Heat. And let me, let me go into I think I have it. Talk about vision. That's— that for me, that's just more of some, um, for me to really take heed. When you say take heed, I wanna— we have time. So this is the year of consistency. So I wanted to really— when we say take heed, the word For this year being consistency, and we want to make sure that it's aligned to God's will. So we want it to be clear, we want it to be purposeful, and we want it to be motivational. So being the, the carriers of the vision of— as sowers of 2024 consistency of instructions and written plainly plans for Herald of a Rebirth Seed. So I want you to take heed to the instructions in this gray space. We get— we don't want us— no, I'm saying us, myself as well, to really heed to the instructions and the written plainly plans for a herald of a rebirth seed. So this is a rebirth seed, a consistent seed. We started off with Matthew 13, Luke 7 and 8, and now we're in Mark. So this is a rebirth seed. So cast not off restraint. So let's get back into the word. So Mark 4 Verse 24. Take heed what you hear. With what measure ye meet, it shall be measured to you, and unto you that hear shall more be given. So take heed what you hear. So what you hear, with what measure you make. So the measure, how, how long, how long you stay with the word consistent. Um. So take heed with what you hear. It shall be measured to you. So if you stay with the word for a long time, then that same measure will be given to you. As far as you hearing the word. So really delighting in the— delighting in the law, meditate on it day and night. That's my— that's, that's what I'm, you know, actually meditate on the law day and night, the word that's given. For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he that hath not Him shall be taken even that which he hath. And he said, so is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground, and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself, first the blade, then the ear, after that the Full corn in the ear. Oh, Mark, you, you, you really going, Mark. Um, let's see. So is the kingdom of God. So if a man should cast seed into the ground— Why did I just remember I planted some watermelons? Years ago, still there. If if a man should cast seed into the ground and should sleep, rise night and day. And the seed should spring up and grow. He knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself, first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth immediately, He putteth it in the sickle because the harvest has come. So the harvest has come. And he said, whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which when it is sown in the earth, It is less than all the seeds that be in the earth. Earth bringeth up seed of herself. And it said, it's like a mustard— it's like a grain of mustard seed, which when it is sown in the earth is less than all the seeds that be in the earth, but when it is sown, it groweth up and becometh greater than all herbs. So when it groweth up and become greater than all herbs and shooteth out great branches so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. Oh, that's good. Um, and with so, so much parables spake he the word unto them, and they were able to hear it. But without a parable spake he not unto them. And when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples. That's good. We did make it to 29. Oh yeah, you guys, we did make it to 29. So that the same day, when the even was come, he said unto them, let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent him— had sent away the multitude They took him even as he was in the ship, and there was also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow. And they awake him, and they say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, That even the wind and the sea obey him. I just love the word God. I I love the that they talk about the storm. Let us pass over. Oh, we can go into the word from yesterday. Just to share. And that's why it says, take heed what you hear about from the kingdom of God. That's when God speaks. And, you know, and Jesus is speaking to us based off of the mysteries of the kingdom of God, what God— he— so he's revealing what God spoke to him, to the disciples, and to the great multitude. Now the kingdom of heaven is when Jesus is speaking to us in the making of us. That's that. Let me not— let me, let me just say that there is a kingdom of God, there's the kingdom of heaven, and the earth is still bringing forth, um, seeds of herself. Let's go into Yes, that was a lot. So it was talking about John 13, and we talked about how, uh, Judas had betrayed Jesus. And when all the disciples and Jesus was at the table, but Jesus forgot about that. Jesus, um, he stayed with the people who were left And he continued to minister to them. And he obsessed over the believers because when God was— God was still speaking, he was still speaking the kingdom of God. And he spoke, and he was speaking about the scriptures and how he described as far as the believers, like he didn't describe the believers as normal. He was like, he's allergic to average. So for affirmation, they were doing it for affirmation. The— they— again, you won't find it. You won't find normal in the word that God was speaking in the scriptures, um, or, you know, or any history, because normal is— it really describes how we could be sinking in life, um, when we go— we're not speaking what God has spoken and How when you're doing things for affirmation, you're is like just a mere human, the ordinary. You're just surviving and you know trying to be like Christ. And and so and that's where you have seasonally thinking and you know the parables that was being spoken. But in scripture. Is seen as far as the description of the believers is called them, you know, that they were chosen. So they were called, they were commissioned, they were created to be Christlike, not to be like Christ, but to be Christlike. And so it was, it was present in the, the power of the Holy Spirit, the resources, the growth, the impact, the praise. It was just a unique insight Into Jesus and the work of Jesus. Like he was Jesus. Jesus was oily. Jesus was oily. No, you know. So and so coming off of Pentecost Sunday was talking about the prep and the departure. How Jesus was leaving. And so for me, it was like when you have the scriptures, like extra extra, read all about it, read about it, read about what was to come. And, um, so when you read about it, it's like this is more than the typical, you know, average mere human, you know. This is Jesus, where, you know, we're hearing about as God is speaking And although that they were filled with grief, it was for their good. It was for their good because the, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, was to come. And so you have to be willing to be ghosted. So your ability to experience extra is tied to your willingness to be ghosted so that you cannot do it for affirmation, but you can do it from affirmation. And that's the vocalization of, you know, the word of God, the scriptures, and, you know, that you're called, created, and commissioned to be Christlike and not to like Christ. And so to preach the good news, like, think about Christ, the kingdom of, uh, the kingdom of God is near, the kingdom of heaven is near. I wanna, I wanna make sure I got it right which one it is. The kingdom of heaven or kingdom of God, because there's there's a difference. No, well, there there's I want to make sure when he said it in his word, he said the kingdom of God or the kingdom of heaven is near. But we have been assigned as we are becoming Christ-like and not being like Christ and not just thinking and being mere humans. We get the ability to preach the good news. And so there's just being able to tell about the good news about Christ and his coming and, um, the Holy Spirit that he, he said greater is coming. So looking forward to the Holy Spirit and, and really having our advocate, the Paraclete, the Comforter, someone who's going to help us. And that's what we're going to go into a little bit more, but it's for the common good. Um, and so being able to be led by the Spirit Being led by the love of God, being led by the joy of God, being led by the gentleness of God, being led by the faithfulness of God, which is the word of Christ. Like hearing more about Christ. So being Christlike and being coming from affirmation and saying, okay, you've been called, you've been chosen, you are commissioned to preach the good news. Thank you. I get excited. So he was talking about in the spirit you are, you are born, you are baptized, and to be able to, uh, be effective, effective in, in being chosen and called and commissioned to become and be created to be Christlike. And so that is the That's, that's what we're talking about as far as ghosting. So God, God is— God did the resurrection. He did the resurrection of Jesus. And although that Jesus left me, you know, though you talk about the Holy Ghost, you know, um, he came, he saved, he redeemed. And then the Holy Spirit comes, which gives you that X factor to have that reliance on On, on, on God doing the resurrection, Jesus doing the saving and the redemption. And so God created us, he predestined us, so therefore, um, we are reliant and dependent on the Holy Spirit to give us that X factor. And what it is, is it's that empowerment through the baptism to receive the Helper, receive help. How do you receive help? You do it with an open heart, with humility. And not going to a lower standard of ignorance. You know, we perish for a lack of knowledge, and we don't want to be ignorant. So we don't want to be uninformed. We don't want to be misinformed. We want to don't want to be inaccurate. We don't want to have no knowledge. So and perish because of that lack of knowledge. And so that's what you know we that starts at birth. So and when it starts at birth, as far as The lower standard used to you know, so you want to receive the word and be baptized, and that's the standard. And so being sent, but we have to wait for that X factor to really function in what what we're talking about today as far as in the spirit functioning in the spirit. So think about the disciples; they walked with Christ for three years. And they was mentored, and you know they still weren't ready. You know, it takes time. That's what we're talking about: training, teaching, correcting, rebuking, and and training so that we be thoroughly equipped for the good work. So starting with some in getting the being informed with some accurate information and working it into ourselves, like doing it in spirit. So worshipping God in Spirit in in truth, so in Christlikeness, you know, and and from affirmation knowing that we are called, commissioned, and created to preach the good word. And so when you're receiving the Holy Spirit, you want to understand it, you want to embrace it, and you want to unleash it. That's that conviction. You want to understand where do I need to be corrected? What information is inaccurate? What have I been misinformed? And what do— where am I ignorant? You know, wherever you're ignorant in, you're suffering. So, you know, where am I perishing at in life? What am I suffering at in life? And then, so you have to embrace it. You have to embrace the areas that you may be, you know, suffering, and you may have to embrace that you need the Holy Spirit to help you to overcome some of those, you know, things that you are you know, perishing in. And then you want to unleash it, and you want to unleash the, the spirit. You want to— don't, don't, don't hold it back or quench it, um, but accept that conviction of the Holy Spirit to say that I'm doing some— I'm doing the work in you. I'm correcting some things. I'm rebuking something. And so that— and you're going, you're going through training. So just as when Christ sent out the disciples to go and preach, you know, to the different towns, and then came back, and then he went back and preached, you know. And then once he left, they went into full-blown training mode. They, you know, but they still had the Helper, you know, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. And so they're continuously being filled, um, continuously being filled. And it's not— it's, it's from like when you are affirmed in the attention thing, and that's sort of from God, and the word is doing the infilling, as in the filling of the Holy Spirit is empowering you. The vitality of it all is just of love and joy and peace and patience and faithfulness and gentleness. It's it's it's it's it's it becomes a a a public display, and so therefore you know some you know get rid of all that evil that is so prevalent. Get like some things you just have to get off, like let get off of you because you don't want to you know you want to continue to remember the word that says get rid of all the evil that's so prevalent. So you, you, you're living in function of the Holy Spirit. And as the Holy Spirit is in, in making you, as in, in providing more of the word of God in you, it becomes a, a continuous feeling that God is continuing speaking. Continue to lend your ear. That's why we was talking about taking heed of what is being spoken and stay with it as long as possible. So just like putting a seed into the ground and just cultivating it, cultivating it, cultivating it, you know, and the earth will bring forth this, you know, her fruit on all time. So the waiting is— you're still waiting. It's just like at the beginning, waiting to be saved and redeemed by, uh, by Christ. Now you still have that same infilling of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. You still have to wait, as you know, on the infilling of the Holy Spirit, and this is continuous. And as we was just talking about earlier, as far as purity and maturity, we want to continue to be— continue to be mature and continue to reach that purity, the perfection that God has so graciously called us to do. So we really want to Remember the, the New Covenant first, the first fruit, um, the execution, the vitality of the Spirit, and the commands. The commands to love one another, to, to love one another, to love the Lord God with all our heart, all our mind, all our soul, and our all, everything. All our strength. So even in our weakness is strength. So continue to study to show yourself approved. So we did our reflection. Our reflection was on Pentecost Sunday. Our devotion is to continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit. And our daily strategy and approach is to stay with it. Stay with it. Stay with it. Stay with the infilling and the power of the Holy Spirit as he's working in you and helping you and advocating for you as you seeking to understand, and as you are embracing the different things and unleashing the conviction of knowing that we all need grace, we all need to be taught, we all need to have that rebuking The correcting and the possibility and, and going through training. So training, this is the— I look forward to the trainings. Um, so I'm ex— I'm thankful to have this time with you guys here in this great space. Make— go out, be fruitful, and multiply the word of God. You now have the word of God from Matthew, you have from Luke, and you have it from Mark. And how to take heed on the seed of God and protect the seed, plant it in the earth, and let let the earth bring forth you know the the fullness of the fruit. So that seed you plant the seed, earth will bring forth the fruit. So and you just have to wait, continue to be obedient. Remember we was oh. This is different, but we're talking about obedience over sacrifice. Stay with it, stay with God, stay believing, and be blessed. Have— remember, you're blessed to be a blessing. Thank you guys for joining. Thank you.
